Chaiiology in Birmingham

Ordered a cake was told it’s fresh after buying into cake to realise it wasn’t went to complain to the lady behind the counter to which she said “what do you want me to do about it” with attitude was told can’t do anything basically, Felt like giving her a piece of my mind but had to hold back. Cake was Rubbish so was the dead tea Best to avoid

We had kunafa and strawberries from here. £10 and you get a cup of strawberries and melted chocolate and maybe a tea spoon of the pistachio filling. So paying £10 and literally getting no kunafa is ridiculous.

Ordered two biscoff milk cakes and one fudge cake. The milk cakes were stale, old and tasted horrible £25 down the drain. Never again

I hate writing negative reviews but this was a bad one. Started off with the place being cold… door didn’t close properly and that’s the reason for that. The menu had good options so decided to try some new items… smashed burger and rice bowl. Staff member was pleasant. Got the food and that’s when it all went down hill. Smashed burger was like a hockey puck (over cooked, hard and possibly from last night), no lettuce or relish… only chunky onions instead of the red onions mentioned on menu. My rice bowl was oily, had a table spoon of keema. Very disappointed with the overall experience. Best thing about this place was the water and packet mayonnaise.

Vibrant location and good tea. However parking isn’t the best.

The staff was friendly and have got great customer service. The milk cake was banging and tea is fire.

Terrible small portion of strawberry pistachio kunafa. Showing on tik tok a good size generous quantity but in reality really small amounts of each.

The chai was good but the pav bhaji tasted really bad. You can see that there was no effort put into the food. On top of that they had loud religious Arabic chants playing on repeat which isn’t great if you want customers of all cultures to visit.

Portion size wasn't big enough for two people. We ordered the takeaway puri with fresh puris. Only think I didn't lime wad the carrots in the hallway but that was my preference and I think egg was added too

Music blasted, can't even hear the conversation with family. Can send evidence for this if needed. Will not be back

Poor service, poor quality food with no taste. I ordered panipuri and 20 mins later they said it's out of stock. Vada pau was given with too much sour sauce and hard tikki. Aloo tikki has very excess. Amount of imili sauce

We went there with my dad and my siblings, my dada went to order this boba tea first of all lady at the reception started to laugh at us BC of the way he pronounced it. Second of all we got this random drink which wasn't even boba when we clearly ask for. Trash service

Amazing food! Great quality! Ordered desi breakfast and halwa puri. Halwa was cooked to perfection, not too greasy or sweet it is an easy dish but not many restaurants get it right! I have also tried the brioche chocoberry French toast which tasted great as well! Waaaay better than one I ordered from Ladana! Being new to Birmingham I have found a lot of places disappointing and not lived to the Birmingham food hype! However this place definitely lived up to expectations! Looking forward to ordering again or dining in!

I bought yesterday TooGoodToGo collection was at 22:40 I have been and those employees had no idea about my order they even apologise or gave me anything instead as I purchased that for my dinner really bad experience plus employees are rude never will visit ever again.

During a recent visit to this cafe with my children, I observed that the area was quite bustling. The children ordered Juicy Juice and wraps, while I opted for a paratha accompanied by an omelette and Desi tea. We subsequently placed an order for takeaway food, but we had to wait for approximately 20 minutes before inquiring about the status of our order. Unfortunately, the receptionist had forgotten about it. Despite this oversight, the food we received was of excellent quality. So 4 stars for them

Awful customer service. 4 people in the queue and the servers act like they have never worked in hospitality before. How hard could it be to take 4 orders and clear the queue?

False advertising by the company who registered themselves on Neotaste as Buy1get1free on streetfood. When I showed up, they said they don’t even know what the app is and don’t know why they are registered on the app. Really disappointing, as the staff had no clue about this deal. It’s one thing to false advertise, but not having a clue about it and wasting a customer’s time is another.

Recently visited chaiology n had biscoff milkcake n loaded fries there which was really good. The food quality n service was amazing. There was a chubby fair girl who was very friendly n helpful forgot to ask her name tho. Overall had a really good experience there. Definitely will go there again.

I had a dirty karak chai that was only ok. I would have preferred it to be served in a mug or glass rather than a take away cup. I have definitely had better karak chais in Birmingham.

Chaiiology on Soho Road offered us a splendid start to our Sunday morning. Our group of 14 was accommodated comfortably, as the café was pleasantly quiet, ensuring a relaxed atmosphere for our catch-up. The highlight for many was undoubtedly the 'Chaiiology Special Thali Breakfast'. This delightful dish was bursting with flavours, and each component was thoroughly enjoyed. However, our enthusiasm dampened slightly when we discovered that the 'Lahori Shahi Thalli Breakfast' was unavailable due to a lack of a couple of items, which was disappointing given our anticipation. The karak chai was commendable, offering the perfect balance of spice and richness that defines a good cup of chai. Meanwhile, the full English breakfast stood out with its spot-on execution and reasonable pricing, satisfying both traditional breakfast lovers and those keen on a hearty morning meal. Overall, our experience at Chaiiology was positive. Despite the minor setback with the unavailable breakfast option, the quality of the food we did enjoy and the comfortable setting made it a visit to remember.

A nice place for a quick bite. There are around 8 tables for 4 or 2 (hybrid) sitting. Within a small place they have managed to provide 3 different experiences for sitting, sophisticated semi-interior sofa for 4-6 sitting, a street view open table for 4, and regular tables movable with chairs. The interior is welcoming and decent. One goes to a restaurant for food. Their food options is varied. The taste is average for all the food items, some are even counter intuitive. Like a rice dish, that is supposed to be spicy it was garnished with a sweet sauce that ruined the expected taste. Chai is awesome! Staff are responsive and kind, but it felt they may be getting understaffed if their place is fully occupied. As the same person was taking orders and serving, there was some lag in the service and confusion as well. Looking at the menu you may feel the pricing is fair, but may get disappointed with the portions/ size of few items.

Absolutely waste of money and horrible customer service. I ordered a flat white coffee and politely asked the guy if could add warm green milk. He immediately with very unwelcoming style was about to leave the counter without listening properly or offering an alternative or any suggestions. He then replied that they don’t have green semi skimmed milk and always use whole milk, which is not always the choice of everyone. Anyway ordered and sat in. After few minutes he brought my coffee in a very small take away cup with lid instead of a cup. He did not pay attention was in rush to go and sit back with his friend who was already there before me. The coffee was disgusting and had no taste of coffee at all. It was more like a warmish mix of milk and water. I never had such a horrible taste of coffee in my life. I don’t recommend this Soho Rd store and I never go again.

A nice cozy place with Indian flavours and South Asian essence. Serve a variety of tea and coffee with famous Indian snacks e.g., (samosa, parath, chats). The ambience is bright and friendly, Chana masala chat may be too spicy for local folks and the channa rice bowl was sweet. Samosa cones were fine for small quick bites.

Not a very busy evening yet the service was poor. Please look at the cleanliness of the plate I got my samosa served. Need I say more! The plate was mouldy under the napkin with oil n mould sticking and had not been washed for ages. Neither is the staff very hospitable.

Fabulous experience Breakfast was tasty and plentiful with great choices. Lovely atmosphere. Very accommodating assistant. Friendly and helpful.

Ice coffees are not good wouldn’t recommend but the food is nice

Food was very good. Ordered the fully loaded chips and it was delicious. Portion size could be increased as its pricey but apart from that its tasty.

i have been to the ladypool road branch and ordered the milkcake from there but it compares nothing to the soho road one. The milkcake was the best i have had, fresh and tasty. i am highly addictive to this milkcake know. i would highly recommend the soho road branch for the milkcakes.

Went here on my break the falooda was tasteless and I ordered swarma and rice box took it back to office and the food has a awful smell to it..... The food was off asked my staff to smell and they agreed food was off ... Tried calling them but no answer really disappointed please don't not give customers food which if off and foul smelling needless to say won't be going here again

Had fresh halwa puri and chana from here it was 10 out of 10 customer service was bang on the best both was very welcoming would come again

Customer service was fantastic (2 ladies working on the day). It was my first visit. Enjoyed the chicken sandwich, Kheema and Daal.

I visited Chaiiology Soho Road tonight and had an awful experience. A female staff member, who claimed to be the owner’s sister, was shockingly rude, illiterate, and uneducated, showing a complete lack of customer service skills. She even called another staff member out of the kitchen, who thankfully calmed the situation down. Her behavior was disrespectful and unprofessional. Maybe she should spend some time in the back of the house to learn some manners. I recommend avoiding this place at all costs. There are plenty of other options with better service and respect for their customers . ---

I only had kadak chai.... But one of the best I had ever in the world.

3 times now I have been and on all occasions the toilet is locked to be told it’s out of order as a customer this need to be open. If I wasn’t a customer I would understand. I made a point last time it’s the 3rd time that the toilet is apparently out of order. If you run a food establishment you need to provide access to toilets. And it’s your job to clean them not just say out of order.

Just been into Chaiology for a monday breakfast, lovely food and staff is amazing. Environment clean and aesthetically beautiful

Came to this place as they do nice chai but the person serving the food was so rude, his name Faisal. He was not listening to our order properly and ordered us English breakfast when we asked for English tea, clearly the listening skills are not there and when asked to rectify he was having tantrums. He left the food on our table and just walked away I had to take the food back and explain that we are vegetarians. He was arguing. It’s a shame the food is so nice but I will not be coming here again due to the appauling customer service. I will defo tell the others not to come here.

visited this establishment with my aunt and mum. We ordered English Breakfast Tea and the worker Faisal heard what he wanted to hear and decided to order an English Breakfast. When we made him aware of the error, he decided to start an argument with us and was violently pointing in our faces. This was shocking, as we’ve heard good things about this shop. Faisal is the rudest hospitality staff member I have ever come across and I will not be returning due to him and his argumentative demeanor with the customers. We spoke to the sister of the owner who was very helpful and apologised to us and was able to refund us for the confusion to which we were very thankful. Faisal still decided to rudely interrupt and continued to argue with me whilst I was speaking to the sister of the owner to which I asked him to step to the side as we were not dealing with him. Absolutely horrendous experience here and it’s such a shame because we really enjoyed the tea.

Hot tea in Paper cup though you sit and dine. Appreciate if they could serve tea in cup as like reputated restaurant or coffee shops. The tea is excellent however if they could change the practice for everyone benefits. Else you will be burning your mouth. Shared my opinion several times to the casier. But nothing changed.

Went this morning with a friend. The food was okay. The daal very spicy. The man serving is who let the whole experience down he was unwelcoming and rude. When we tried asking questions about the food he did not want to assist he simply said look on Instagram. We ordered food arrived a little late even though it was just my friend and I that were there. There was no apology. The hot chocolate was watery and not worth the almost 4 pounds cost. There is no baby change even though the toilet is big enough to have one. When I asked the man for blue roll or something I can put on the floor to change the baby he became rude and simply said no. The electrical signage below the till has live wires hanging out and when the baby pulled the wire he got cross at us and absolved himself of anything. Clear health and safety hazard and no attempt to even conceal the wires or tape them down. In the window they have a poster saying spend over 7 and get a free tea this was not offered and when we asked for it he refused to give 2 even though we spent almost 12 each. Never going back there again. Stinking attitude from the man serving he was more interested in playing on his phone.

i am very disappointed with the service i have received from the women who was serving me. i wanted an extra cup for my tea and was told that i couldnt have one and had to pay for it. i have never experienced this in any other cafe before. they was also giving samples of the drinks outside of the shop, the taste of sample was totally different to the one they actually give you that you buy. and it was very unhygienic as there was lots of people touching all the cups. instead of giving samples, you need to put your prices down and give special offers. they are so stingy with the cutlery and tissue as they dont give you it, you have to keep asking them for it. the order was also late and served cold. i will not come again and will not recommend this place to anyone else either. sort your business out or either shut it down.

I used to stop by this place every once in a while for month and staff was always rude hardly a smile , they kept a sign that the toilet was out of service for months despite the fact it was working and the staff would use it to themselves only , you technically had to beg them as a customer for it , last time visiting this place

Wow wow WOWWWWWW what can I say and I'm not one short for words..this place is heaven for a breakfast lunch brunch it ticks all the boxes I can not compliment it enough. A must try and addiction you will not be disappointed believe. And FAZAL the chap behind the counter his attitude service approach smile 10 10 wot a cool guy made me feel soooooo welcome. And if you go for a chaii push the boat out and try the DESI CHAII made with buffalo milk OMG you will defo get that authentic desi vibe. Enough said

Food is good but quantity of food is low according to money like I ordered butter chicken which worth as 7.50 pounds but it is in very small container which is not even 500 ml so my experience is very bad

Great place for karak chaii. I tried the Tandoori Chaii and it's similar to the standard karak chaii, but it's made in a tandoor and the amount poured is considerably less. Overall, I would just have the standard karak chaii.

Omg the service is so bad like the lady who was serving us got a attitude. She was giving us dirty look. I did not like it. Plus she also forgot to serve us tea we had to ask her to make our tea. Even I was waiting for 10 min front of cash thing and the lady went inside and didn't bothered to come out unit I called out to her. Then she came out. Overall I did not like it. This place is decent. The Karak chai is tasty 👍 The desi breakfast was great, something i recommend. On a cold winter day, it was nice and warm inside.

We ordered gajar halwa and chai for delivery. After waiting for 1 hour we got burned halwa that tasted like salan like it was mixed with something savoury. Stale and made me throw up. Extremely disappointed. Better to go somewhere where you will be served fresh food.

I visited with my friends and whilst the tea was nice, all of a sudden the lights turned off and we were told they are closed and we got pushed out almost. It was kind of rude and very bad service. This was really dangerous considering the shop door was higher than the outside ground which could have resulted in something falling. Also the fact that everyone has hot drinks and they were walking in the dark. Very poor from the manager.

Visited this Soho Road branch for brunch and had a good experience! Food came out nice and hot and was quite tasty! The Caramel Karak Chai and the French Toast were delicious!

Food was delicious! Better than your average chai place. I got the desi breakfast and I had it customised to exactly how I wanted it ..was so delicious! I also ordered the fully loaded chips - omg to die for!!!!! And the karak tea - mmmmm!! My sister opted for something sweet so she got the chocolate brioche French toast and I tried a little - it was yummmmmm!! She also had karak coffee - that was good too. I will defos be back when I’m in B’ham and I highly recommend this place - it was clean, atmosphere was lively and most importantly food was fresh and on point 👍

Staff amazing, Nutella wrap is🤤would definitely recommend this place and thank you to the two young guys who prepared the chai and wraps. Definitely would come again. Our experience was 💯

Tea is pre made and not fresh. No option of sugar free tea. Taste not good too
