Fantastic place to visit. Lovely atmosphere, highly recommended to while away a few hours.

OMG, photos speak for themselves. Popped in to see that they did not do takeaways anymore. My husband went to the toilet and looking at the photos we understood why the kitchen has been closed, probably by Health and safety. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a dirty pub generally.

Great pub. Me and the misses went in for the first time for a drink and felt welcomed.

Tried the restaurant recently for the first time. Whilst the food was okay the restaurant itself is in need a good clean and upgrade. The floor covering was disgusting. Probably safer to stick to a takeaway.

The Chadwick Arms Hill Ridware This lovely little village pub has a hidden secret which is they have a Chinese restaurant at the back of the pub that do the most incredible food, the chef is amazing with dishes I would expect to see in a top London restaurant, the prawn dish was the best I’ve ever had and the staff are so friendly and accommodating, definitely worth a drive to visit this place and if it’s on your doorstep I’m jealous.

Hello fellow food enthusiasts, it’s your boy big ounce here, yes I have returned for another food review. This evening I ordered food from the Chadwick arms Cantonese take away. This food was lovely, the rice was well cooked and the chicken and pork was cooked to perfection. After finishing my meal I was left with two words “truly exquisite”. That’s all I’ve got to say really. Incredible food with a quick preparation time I ordered on the phone and within 20 mins I was eating my food, incredible! Yours sincerely, Big ounce

Visit regularly, food always superb, and now place a regular bulk order for an off menu Lamb curry that we take home to stock up the freezer. Cannot recommend highly enough..Food excellent, ambience friendly, unpretentious, and always welcoming. Coupled with an excellent pint of Pedigree from the bar, a perfect night out.

The quality & speed of service is excellent. Food stays warm for ages. I pick it up, drive 10 mins and have starters first and & mains are still warm when it’s time for them.

Been here a few times before and never had a bad meal. We were welcomed with a smile and pleasant manner, the food was excellent we had starters and main meal but due to the very generous portions I was unable to finish my main course so had doggy bag to take home. Lots of choice on the menu and the prices including the wines were all very reasonable. No downside whatsoever.

Great Cantonese food and great village pub

Called in at the Cantonese restaurant on Saturday and we were really pleased with the attention to service and some truly good food. We had a fabulous night which was added to by some decent drinks from the bar. Would recommend to anyone.

Tired old backroom but the food made up for that easily. Real tasty I'd go again any day. Even got to have a Guinness from the attached pub. Excellent

Always make a point of visiting the "Chad" when I visit from North Wales. Tony is usually available for a chat, along with Ash the manager. I believe the restaurant is excellent, and does a takeaway service. Always busy, so must be good. Excellent pint of mild. Worth a visit at any time, a warm welcome is always awaits.

Looking from the outside, this pub/restaurant looks inviting enough, and the large car park at the back certainly removed any concerns around access. The pub itself is friendly enough, although the décor could undoubtedly do with a lick of paint and a spruce up. That's not to say it was dirty and unwelcoming, just dated. The beer was perfectly well kept and an enjoyable pint was served promptly and without fuss. Must admit when walking through to the restaurant (we hadn't booked) the sight of paper tablecloths made me wary of what we were letting ourselves in for. However, both the service, and more importantly the food was first rate. Absolutely beautiful to taste, prompt and perfect portion sizes. We'll absolutely be back.

20 of us landed (after booking) ... has a few drinks in the pub first ... excellent service. No wait at all! Real ales were spot on. Pub was ace 👏 went through for meal... the lady in there was so helpful and lovely... helped us all pick food. All meals came out within seconds on each other !! Absolutely millions of dishes sizzling and beautiful . Prices were fab too. Cannot recommend this place enough and can’t wait to go back. We are campervaners and would like to come back in the summer with more vanners for a night... need a Carpark or field 👏👏

Lovely homely pub and good food

There cannot be many places like this in the whole of the UK. The pub is still an old village pub. The beers are well kept. This is not a 5 star and wow premises. What it is, is cozy, comfortable and rustic. The Cantonese Restaurant is in the old converted stables. The welcome you get from Mandy is genuine and wholesome, she’s quick with the wit and can make any visit there the reason to go back time and again. The food is some of the best you are likely to encounter at any Cantonese. Colourful, tasty, proper proportions and all realistically priced. The rustic surroundings add to the ambience of the whole night out. Why not 5 star ? Well, it is a little tired in places, but none the less enjoyable for it. Give it a whirl........you shouldn’t be disappointed.

1st: the Pub is a fantastic little boozer with friendly helpful staffs, they have a good selection of ales n lagers. Very cozy. Enjoyed all our visits there. Defo recommend it. 2nd. The adjoining Cantonese restaurant/Takeaway is for me the best around, food is second to none. Staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. We have eaten in aswell as had many many takeaways. 1st class food and service. Love it here. Would highly recommend it. XX

Absolutly awful.first of all me and my partner get there to be greeted and asked for drinks that took 20 mins to come and both drinks were flat. Then we were suppose to get 10 mini spring rolls we only got 6. The cutlery and salt and pepper pots were that thick with dust it stuck to my fingers and the mains were discusting one wasnt even the right dish. Rice was rock hard and both chicken dishes were dry. And the sauce was so thick i had to scrape it off the plate. We ended up leaving both meals and grabbing something on the way home! Will never come here again. Used to be amazing dont know whats happened.

I recently visited the Chadwick Arms and found the restaurant to be clean but with olde worlde charm the staff were attentive and very friendly, i had the salt and pepper spare ribs the best i've ever tasted my partner had prawn cocktail she echo's my thoughts on the starter, we both had the chow Mein although rather large was superb any one wishing to have a beautiful Chinese meal i would without doubt recommend the Chadwick at any time will definitely be going again

Pub was ok for a drink pleasant bar staff and the locals were friendly, had booked for evening meal but had a look at the restaurant did not feel right need some T.L.C. cancelled and went else where.

I endorse the apology for the food poisoning experienced by a family in November 2016 during a visit to the Chadwick Arms Chinese Restaurant. I live a few miles away, and we have been going to this restaurant on a regular basis for at least 20 years. Never have we experienced any food poisoning or any kind of tummy upset following a visit to the restaurant. We lived in Hong Kong for nearly ten years, and so acquired a taste for genuine Chinese food. The Chadwick is not totally authentic, but we have always though it a close approximation to what in Hong Kong is called Cantonese cuisine. A holiday in HK (highly recommended!) would confirm this. I would not like this very negative review to be taken as a fair representation of this restaurant.

Acabo de volver a casa después de visitar la Foe chadwick Menafest armas. Un largo camino fuera de mi zona de comodidad, siendo un antiguo que duddy, pero qué experiencia, ts chicos Ashley y Tony trabajan duro, son una verdadera ventaja para el pueblo. Sobresaliente muchachos!

Some of the best Cantonese food in the country!

El pub es muy agradable y amable. La comida - que es una entidad separada no es así. El servicio era bastante lento, la comida era muy promedio, y no es barato! Sin duda enormes porciones, pero la cantidad que la calidad.

Been to this pub several times now, a very welcoming place to visit, the pedigree is to easy to drink, friendly staff.

Firstly we've only every eaten IN here, as we live around 15 miles away in Burton and that's too far for a delivery. I/We can state without hesitation that every visit has been excellent and that if we lived closer we'd happily dine there regularly. We've been going here over many years now and the food is spot on for every dish we've ever had.

Went here for a family meal . Was dissapointed in service and especially the food . There was 5 of us sitting down for a meal and not 1 even ate half of what was on the plates . Chicken had been frozen . Poor quality. Sorry but would not recommend this resturant.

So lucky this is very local to us, food is the best for miles around including Lichfield and consistently good each time we visit as a couple and family group. Service excellent and attractive menu, variety of dishes tried over time and loved them all. Spicy, sizzling, sticky and tasty food, it really has it all. Good pub side too, friendly and welcoming, beer good as is the house red, can't fault it, come back time and time again, 5 stars!

We have family that live in the village so when we visit, it is always a pleasure to go for a Chinese at the Chadwick.Beautiful, good quality & fresh food. Full of flavour & lots of menu choices. Personal favorite is the sizzling shanghai steak for main! And the chicken satay skewers for starter - the sauce is to die for!!Mandy & her husband are so friendly & will fetch your drinks from the bar. Definitely worth a visit if you love Chinese food & in the area.We have also been a few times as quite a large party, for birthdays etc. For saying it is a small restaurant and just Mandy and her husband working, the service and food did not falter. Takeaways are also great!

Not pleased at all with the food! We have been a few times, sometimes they get it right sometimes they don't! After really bad service and mixing up our order for the 2nd time we said we would not go there again. 4 months later we thought let's try it again as its really local but again the food wasn't great, our main courses came with really watery sauces. I suppose it depends who the chef is but I want consistency not hope!

We had an excellent Chinese meal here, with lovely, friendly service. The portions were extremely generous, and it was good value for money

Came here for Valentines Day in February and then in March for my birthday. On Valentines day they put in so much effort in the decorations and the service and food was great!! At the end, They gave me a rose and chocolates which was super lovely! Coming back in March after the great first impression on Valentines day, it was all still superb!

I applaud "text reader's" review in January 2016.We live very close and did use the restaurant regularly . However, when I noticed that the curtain net hadn't been laundered since before we moved here 3 years ago, it made me look more closely at the other surroundings. The carpet is disgusting. If you dropped any food, you certainly wouldn't consider putting it into your mouth! With very little expense this could be a really super eaterie because the food is good and the staff are very friendly and obliging if a little slow when "meals to go" take precedence. With a lick of paint, curtains washed, carpet shampooed (or replaced with something easy to clean like laminate) it would make such a difference. We don't use the restaurant any more, only pop in to the pub for a drink.

Delightful English pub with friendly bar staff and a Cantonese Restaurant attached to it. The food in the restaurant is really good and moderately priced.

Cannot give more stars even though food and service excellent because environment VERY shabby. The patterned carpet was black in places. Could not possibly recommend this restaurant because of the unpleasant surroundings. Would happily return if a small amount of money and great deal of care were invested on making it a much more pleasurable place to eat.

The beers are well kept - big fan of the Ringwood and Pedigree. The landlords are welcoming and friendly, as is the general atmosphere of the pub. The Chinese is fantastic for dining in or taking away.

While we had to wait for our drinks and food because they appeared to be short staffed on the early evening when we attended. The number of people coming in for Take-aways caused the staff to be excessively busy. However when the food came it was the best Chinese meal we have ever eaten in Great Britain. Will definitely return to sample further items from an extensive menu

Stayed in Hill Ridware for two weeks recently and had takeout three times because it was so good. Mandy and the team really go out of their way to help you and the food is excellent value as well as extremely tasty.

This is an English Pub full stop.It looks and smells just as you would want a good olde pub to be !However it has a Chinese/Cantonese restaurant / take away inside.The pub stays a pub with no encroachment by the restaurant.The food is quickly made by either take away or seated, with very pleasant and polite staff. Nothing appear too much.Takeaways are prepared in the time it takes to have a quick pint, so that well timed.The pub appears to be a central point of the village, just as you would expect.

Really friendly village pub but the main reason for a visit is the fantastic Chinese restaurant which is attached. You can enjoy a drink in the bar then go through and enjoy simply the best Chinese food imaginable or if you prefer enjoy a drink while they prepare a takeaway for you. Absolutely superb, great staff in both pub and Chinese worth booking a table at weekends as the last time we went on a Saturday we couldn't get in. Once you've had a Chinese here you won't want to go anywhere else.

When entering the pub you can smell the food cooking in the kitchen and it makes you hungry. It was our second visit but the first was sometimes ago. We had the set meal for 4 people and there was more than enough. The restaurant itself needs a coat of paint to brighten it up but the food is good.

I can't rate the restaurant, as we only went for a drink at the bar, but what a dive...I was hoping for good things from The Chadwick Arms, as I grew up in the village, have recently moved back to the area, and the exterior looks well presented and inviting. However, walking through the doors immediately put me off - not because of the locals staring at you like you have two heads and don't belong there, as that's pretty normal of local pubs, but because the decor and atmosphere was atrocious - we wondered if it was the same decor from 25 years ago!It's one of those local pubs that obviously cater for locals, and not much else - the lager was on, but all the ales were off, other than a bad pint of charity ale. Nibbles were limited to a bag of ploughmans - a crisp packet containing two tiny pickled onions, two crackers, and an edible triangle of soft cheese. Yum!It needs a complete overhaul, then it could be a nice little pub. Until then, it has been crossed off our pubs to revisit.

Went at Easter with a large family group. Had a superb meal. Had a takeaway last week equally as good. Great ingredients, value for money. Usually go to lee garden but this place is as good if not better the sizzling fillet steak dish was better for sure. Will be going again soon.

It is an almost weekly treat to eat from The Chad's Chinese Restaurant. As others have said, the food is excellent and in portions large enough that no one should go away disappointed.The recent make-over in the pub and restaurant has restored the bright and cheery feel and the staff are as welcoming as ever. Thoroughly recommended.

Used to be a great restaurant that we all used in my family. Food price still on the high side even though the food standard has gone downhill. The Restaurant needs a some money spending on it. I know it will be having a new coat of paint soon which will help but ait does need more than that to be honest. Would definitely like to see this restaurant back to where it was a few years ago.

had a lovely meal with freinds ,we where pleasently surprised how big the portions were,we had a fixed price meal for 4 persons, excellent value,after the meal we retired into the pub bar for a few hours,well worth a visit,but you may have to book for a table.

This is a lovely old pub with a Cantonese restaurant attached to the back. The pub is a little tired looking and could probably do with a spruce up but is a typical country pub in a lovely village. As long as you're not looking for a posh pub/restaurant it's worth a visit.The Cantonese restaurant is out the back and again quite basic but the food is the best Cantonese we have had in a long time. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly and you won't go away hungry. The menu choice is very good and we have been here many times and not once been disappointed either eating in or take away.

This is by far the best Chinese takeaway/restaurant I've been to. I use it regularly I'll have a pint in the pub then order my takeaway and have another pint while I wait. The owners of the pub and restaurant are very friendly and very good at what they do. I highly recommended both pub and restaurant. Defo a 5 star rating. Excellent!

as a birthday treat my niece treated us to a takeaway last night 17th march 2014. I have to say it was delicious, I have been put off Chinese food for months after a few dodgy meals from other high street restaurants, but this place is fantastic, I will definitely be ordering from there again very soonl

The Chadwick Arms has a small Cantonese restaurant and take away at the rear. We were recommended by friends to give it a go and whilst waiting for the take out have a pint at the bar. The Piledriver beer was excellent in this unpretentious local pub and the welcome was friendly. But the food......We love a Chinese and this was one of the best, the Chicken in Plum sauce highly recommended.Definatly recommend this local find, we will be returning!

We visit the Chadwick arms cantonese restaurant regularly. Attached to the Chadwick Arms traditional village pub the retaurant, like the pub, is friendly and unpretentious.We have friends who live fifty miles away who regularly visit us just to have a meal there. The Chef, Ben, is superb. Ably assisted by front of house, Mandy and Carmen, the service is unhurried but never slow. A friendly laid back experience for couples, families or even a solitary meal. Traditional values, trendy yuppies please stay away, you wouldn't like it!

At the back of this pub is a Cantonese restaurant. When you enter this pub it is definitely a traditional pub and not modern bistro style pub however do not be put off the staff are friendly and very welcoming. At the back of the pub is the Cantonese restaurant. Whilst the decor is basic and interesting!, take a seat and enjoy the experience.The range of choice on the menu is excellent, the service is good and servings are generous.I would advise you not to over order and 1 rice (£2) will serve 2 people but you can always order more. The prices are average main course £7 upwards vegetarian are slightly cheaper £5 upwards. Do try and the salt and pepper baby sweet corn ( very nice) £21/4 crispy duck will feed 2 £7.50Overall, they serves good food and is popular with my friends too. We visit often. A lovely discovery. Even took my mum there and she enjoyed it too.
