Chaakoo West End in Glasgow City

Very good food, a change from the usual Indian experience. Enjoyed trying a few different small plates. Nice decor but was quite loud on a Saturday night

The wait staff was nice and friendly and the atmosphere and decor were nice. They were very accommodating of our large group and 1 year old throwing tantrums. Moving on to the food, we didn't like the special tea - it was barely warm when served and we returned the order. The tea they brought back was warmer but not as hot as we'd have liked and it felt very diluted. Similarly the mango lassi was diluted. We were disappointed with the drink orders but the appetizers saved the day. We ordered Aloo Chana salad, Afghani Tikka and Machli pakora. All three were great to taste. We didn't stay for mains. Overall this didn't feel like a spot for authentic Indian food - doesn't have the Bombay/Irani Cafe experience we were hoping for

Beware of the staggering amount of garlic used in certain dishes, you home will stick of garlic the whole of the following day :)

Last time l Was there was around 9 mths ago ,it was good its not now , tiny amounts for the cost and there are far better restaurants in West end , curry was thick n stodgy with onions Can't recommend this place 😕

While we were in Glasgow, four of us had a selection of dishes all different and wow they were all delicious. All the staff were so lovely and attentive. Will definitely go again next time we are in Glasgow.

Greg vegetarian options! We were very tired and cold from the snow when we discovered this place. In the end, we were pleased we stumbled upon it. The vegetarian options were simply delicious—spicy but not too crazy—and the curries tasted hearty. The staff was super nice and friendly, creating a cozy atmosphere with the lovely interior and the little booths. We would definitely visit again. It got crowded later, so perhaps making reservations during usual dinner hours might be a smart move.

Tapas Indian food. Great to have dishes to share.

got an afghani tikka kebab and chicken malbari and oh my GOD perfectly cooked chicken and the spices are incredible.

Went out for a meal alone. Seated comfortably in a booth. Staff were lovely, very friendly, attentive and professional. The food was amazing and when I couldn't finish my meal I asked to take the remainder home which was no problem. Had garlic lamb boona and tikka masala chicken. Both were beautifully cooked. Dishes are tapas so best to get 2 for 1 person or 3 for 2 people. Garlic nann was delicious. The atmosphere was very calming and I was quite relaxed. Toilets are spotless. I booked online prior to going for 5.45pm. Very enjoyable dining experience and the sorbet was beautiful. Thank you all.

Service was really good. Enjoyed the naan and their curry. Ordered a lamb chop as well but the quality was absolutely disappointing. First time it came it was raw on the inside and the replacement they then served was way overcooked that I felt like I was eating a piece of charcoal. The lamb chop legitimately spoiled everything. They did take the lamb chop off our receipt though.

Been a huge fan of chakoo for around 6 years now. Decided to visit the west end location as it's closer to where I live. I was sad to hear that the chicken madras was off the menu but I got the Malbari chicken curry which is exactly the same just less spicy and it was an absolute treat. Their fries were an added bonus.

First time there and the food was great would recommend it

Food was really nice, love the tapas style. Service was good. Atmosphere was a bit dull as it was very quiet (we went mid week, evening). Was tricky to find this restaurant but defo would return. We did try their Vincent St, again, food was really nice, was a lot busier (midweek lunch). Only thing, as we left, a delivery guy walked in with jars of Pataks jars, not sure if it was sauces or pickles etc.

I’ve had better curries and naan breads but overall the food was really nice. The service was great and the staff were all really friendly. A gripe to highlight is that a “discretionary 10% tip” is added to every bill no matter the table size. It may be portrayed as “discretionary” but that requires customers to have an uncomfortable conversation with the waiting staff to have it removed. I always tip the servers in restaurants but this is a personal choice and should not be automatically added to a bill unless it’s for large tables of people. In this country tipping is welcomed but not expected and the practice of automatically adding it onto the bill should be stopped.

I arrived on 19/08/2023 at 8pm to collect food. Staff ignored me while attending to others, even though I waited for 5 minutes. A couple who arrived later was served immediately. When I thought a staff member noticed me, she rudely gestured that she wasn't addressing me. Another staff member apologized later, saying they thought I was a delivery driver. I was upset, as it seemed they judged me based on my attire. Be cautious of this attitude if you visit this restaurant.

We saw a little advertising on the street and followed it into a smaller street. At its end was the Chaakoo Bombay Cafe. The Cafe had a lot of visitors but the stuff was very kind and got us a table for 3. The food was amazing. It is recommended to order 2-3 dishes because of its sizes. But even with 3 dishes and a delicious cranberry juice I paid under £20. I can highly recommend the Peshwiri Naan. It was so soft and tastet a little sweet. Perfect! The Cafe has beautiful and funny decorations, the washrooms are clean and the stuff was extremely nice and helpful. Especially while asking for gluten free options. They had a prepared card with all the food you can eat with an allergie. Please help yourself with this experience.

The food is reasonable, not super tasty though. It is served in very small plates (tapas style). I found it overpriced for the quality/portions. The space was lovely and service was good as well

Had a fantastic meal probably the best curry I've had and the staff were lovely sang happy birthday to my daughter. Will definitely be back soon thanks again.

I have sat in on one occasion and it was lovely, will have to return. I had a takeaway for the first time last weekend. Absolutely lovely. Beautifully presented and boxed. The butter chicken was delicious, as was the kofta meatball curry. Pakora and peshwari naan also excellent. Everything was fresh, one of the better Indian's I've tasted in Glasgow.

We were welcomed and treated well throughout our meal. The selection on the vip menu was good but limited by choice of dairy free food. They provided good information as to what is and isn't dairy but I was left with a much smaller selection. A pity that other dishes could not be made without dairy on order..

What a hidden gem! We had a delicious lunch here. Great lunch menu and very cool atmosphere! We may be back for dinner as we have four more nights in Glasgow.

Food is sooo nice. Only thing I would say is that there were 5 of us and not a lot of room on table as it is like tapas food. But not a big problem

Great little Indian place with tasty food. Not too easy to find in a nice small backalley.

Slightly confusing instructions about the mains only being half the size that we would expect and therefore best to order 2-3. The mains weren't that small but most of us ordered 2 to be on the safe side. Interesting decor defo a place to visit.

The decor was really nice. So, it might be better for drinks. Food was very mediocre. So, was the tchai tea. Maybe I chose badly though, because other reviews here seem to love the food.

First time eating here and it lived up to its recommendation. The food was interesting, flavoursome and fresh. Lots of tapas style dishes to choose from. Excellent service, attentive but not intrusive and a lovely atmosphere. It’s tucked away down several lanes which were a bit off putting if you are on foot from Byers Road. I’d definitely go back.

Fast service, food was good and service was phenomenal, staff are very friendly and attentive here even on the weekends.

Lamb chops are the best I have ever had. Curries are not authentic and are quite a let down. Perhaps a change in the recipe for them could help bring in a lot more customers and bring up the reputation for curry lovers. Atmosphere is lovely.

I am glad I ordered an extra main dish to go with the meal deal for one in my takeaway because even then, the portion sizes were so surprisingly and woefully small that I ran out to recall the driver back, sure that he still had items of my order in his car. The delivery was fast and the food very nice-tasting but I still would like my dinner. I won't use again as this is not, in my experience, value for money and indeed, in my opinion, an insult to the paying customer in these already hard times when a wee treat can be as good as a pick me up. These were not advertised as " small plates on the takeaway menu. There was a section distinctly offering "small plates" and priced accordingly

The food was very much ok,the waitress didnt look happy & then when the bill came i was charged an extra 10% as a service charge which very soon became their tip which was slightly less than I would normally give even with the grumpy waitress but since it's been put on the bill instead of being given for a top class service I felt happy with nothing more than that. Wouldn't recommend especially when mother India isnt far away.

I dined here just over a month ago in December, and to be fair, we enjoyed the actual curries themselves. However, the naan breads were disappointing. I must say that the portion sizes, and the price effectivley renders the menu inaffordable for most folks who are in the mood for curry. A lunch shouldn't be costing £30 per person. That's what it would have cost had we ordered what we actually wanted. Small tapas curries, small drinks, thin naan. You get the idea. We were advised to order two mains each. We could only justify sharing 3 in an effort to reduce the cost. If your customers feel the need to work their way around the menu because of the price, that's a failure to provide an affordable menu, and an enjoyable dining experience. No one wants to feel like they've been taken to the cleaners. If the portion sizes were larger, or the prices per curry pot were more reasonably priced, along with the rest of the menu, then I would recommend it. However, I don't see that happening anytime soon. In retrospect, I wish we had went to Ashoka. It's better value for money.

Great lunchtime visit with family. Friendly atmosphere, good service and delicious authentic dishes. Lamb Samosa, Rara Gosh and Makhani Daal were fab. Great value too.

Look, overall was really good. We order too much food but it was worth it. Food is really good, place is really nice and besides some distractions from staff, they did great.

Unfortunately not as good as the on in city centre, we had the exact same dishes. Butter chicken was lovely though. Vegetable pakora too salty, both other curries not as expected .

It's okay. Busy place ... Run up to Christmas. Food was okay, veg pakora was a little bit cold and greasy. It was fine but nothing amazing.

Take away portions are TINY! Would be fair to mention this on the menus.. Ours arrived and I promptly ordered Chinese without even tasting as knew the portion size would never feed two. Food was actually ok..but would never order again..you get what you pay for..very little! Spend a few pounds more and get a way better deal elsewhere.

Previously went to the one in the city centre which was fantastic but didn’t even know about this one being closer by. Took my family here and the quality of food was exactly the same. Really well priced and enjoyed a high variety of dishes.

My son and I visited your restaurant on Tuesday 8th November. We were served by Rachael who was polite, friendly and very helpful. Our meals were lovely would recommend.

Food was amazing. Only one problem which I hate a freezing cold plate to put your food on . Food was cold in 2 minutes after putting it on that plate.

A really nice place. There were four of us so we ordered around 4 small dishes each. Food was fine apart from a chicken dish which was completely dry to the point it was hard to chew, I of course didn't finish this dish. Drinks are a little pricey for the size cocktail you receive. Service was good, nothing over and above. Would I go back again? Yes I would.

If you want good authentic and flavoursome Indian food, that's not the place! Unfortunately, this is a chain restauran, with none of the afore-mentioned on offer I'm afraid. But we had good service.

The Kerala Monkfish curry is listed on the menu as popular and boy am I glad I followed that recommendation! We ordered seconds. Great service too, our waitress was working hard even with a broken arm, that's dedication that I hope her bosses appreciate! Would definitely go again.

Portion sizes are really small. I mutton in the biriyani was really over cooked. It was so dry and almost black in colour. Taste was not bad.

Delivery - 3.5 Star It was 22:30 I ordered, glad you were still taking orders I found the rice potion to be barely enough for one person, at £3.25 felt a bit unjust. Chicken Pakora was flavoursome, but seemed re-heated, as it had a "squeeky" texture. It is understandable at that time of night, but again, not ideal really. Garlic Lamb Bhuna was also nice, lamb was very very suculent, to the point of offering no resistence when biting through. Lamb felt very hot on the inside compared to the rest of the sauce it was in, again, this opens up speculation as to cooking methods and freshness. Understandably it was the end of the night, but I guess when you charge full - daytime fresh price, then it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

Lovely place and the small plates/tapas is a nice idea to try different things. Unfortunately I could barely eat any of mine as it was all too spicy, my friend and I ordered a tikka masala and butter chicken - both usually mild/medium curries and we really struggled to eat them.

Went here using a voucher deal. Standard of food was excellent, so well cooked and tasty. Staff were lovely, so attentive and welcoming. Will definitely be going back, have already recommended it to family and friends. A restaurant not to be missed

Amazing food at a decent price! Had a slight issue with one of the waitresses taking my drinks order at the table but never coming back with it but it didn’t overshadow what was overall a good experience. Will definitely be returning!

Tried it for the first time and I must say I was very disappointed looking at the portion size. How can you justify 3 small pieces of chicken tikka for over £7?. There are many other Indian/Pakistani restaurants where you can go and get a decent amount of food for the price you pay here, complete rip off and I doubt they have many returning customers. I will never be returning again. Please save your money and go somewhere else
