Food was delicious and well-priced. Service excellent, restaurant feels really good. The chicken tikka Masala was nice, but could be a lot more fragrant and generous with herbs.

This was a “group lunch meeting”. The staff at Chaakoo were extremely helpful, attentive, and courteous. All the diners agreed that the ambience of the Restaurant was very good, although the restaurant is tucked away from Byres road and a bit difficult to locate. However, the “hidden” location made it suitable to explore the other outlets. I am not sure if there is any parking space and/or disabled access.

Just had a Group lunch meeting of Retired friends. We have a meeting once a year and a group of 10 or 12 people usually attend. This time the meeting was held in Chakoo West End restaurant. Full marks to the staff who were very attentive, polite, and helpful. They catered to the individual needs of the diners and everyone agreed that the quality of service was excellent. The food was fresh, delicious and served in portions that were manageable, allowing the diners to sample more than one dish if they wished. The total bill was quite reasonable and the bill was designed to distribute the costs fairly amongst those who included alcohol in their meal and those who did not partake. Overall, a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. Will certainly visit again.

I was walking from were i live to byers road differant way and intrigued it just had invite me in from the outside presentation and staircase of interest with a lovely environment on varied places to sit from quite and cosy to open and party.Style authentic modern thoughout and a mix of ages all happy in eating ,drinking and conversation. The entire staff from walking though upstairs to walking out worked as a team with friendly warm communication. The dishs were varied enough and based on modern day small plates concept packed with flavour and substance(you expect to pay 50-100% for large plate but not necessary get twice the amount in other places). Contrast in dishes were cooked according to discription so based on that and not my personnal prefferance only they were all enjoyed and consumed.(monk fish cooked beautifully with soft to tongue sauce (,i like little more heat in every bite,) IranianTIKKA deliouscious chicken just little salty on pieces but balanced with other dishes, lemon rice soft and as decribed(i prefer white with slices of lemon, fried oinion and coriandor) Be nice if the other indian draft beers were avalable but plenty of wine and other drinks. The kingfisher was fresh, clear and refreshing as it should be. LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT TIME

I wandered down the lane reminiscing about Cafe Dominique and its beautiful coffee and croissants. Sadly, long gone I had an hour to spare so lunch seemed the best way to temper my nostalgia. This restaurant is probably focused on students, hence the awful music. A stale smell lingers at the entrance but dissipates at the top of the stairs. Unfortunately, it's probably only trapped cooking smells but that could be off-putting to some. It definitely has a modern vibe and the layout is conducive to small or large groups. I was greeted warmly and taken to a nice table and a carafe of water was brought soon after. I opted for the Mila Hua Tray: Butter Chicken - I think the chicken was cooked separately from the sauce which was lukewarm and had one strong flavour which I couldn't identify. It was okay. The chicken korma lacked flavour and was possibly cooked separately from the sauce as well. Perhaps it's a style of cooking. The lamb bhuna was nice but I think all three dishes were in the rechauffe style. I didn't have the nan. I opted for extra rice. At £16.95 for what I think was possibly yesterday's curry served warm did not inspire. To be fair if it is catering to the west end students, it is not focusing on a 60+ old guy passing through. Having said all that I still think it's worth a visit, just choose wisely

Went to Chaakoo just before Christmas for a wee catch-up with some pals. I ordered the Afghani Tikka, £8.55, and added a side of Garlic Butter Chicken sauce. We also shared some rice and naan between us. The chicken was tender with a nice charred flavour, and the sauce definitely elevated the dish, adding that creamy, garlicky kick it needed. However, it was clear the kitchen wasn’t thrilled about giving us a side of sauce with the kebab - even though it really needed one to bring the dish together. The rice was passable, but not great. The naan was so thin and crispy - I much prefer a thicker naan. Overall, the food was decent enough but didn’t blow me away. Just standard Indian food. This restaurant offers a truly authentic Indian culinary experience. The flavors were vibrant and delicious, a pleasant surprise compared to some other Indian restaurants I've tried. The service was friendly and efficient, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The ambience was also a highlight – very lovely. One thing to note: the portion sizes might be a bit on the smaller side, so if you're hungry, ordering two portions is a good idea.

Visited on a Friday night in October as it was recommended by friends. The venue is well decorated within its theme of being a Bombay cafe with booths marked out like it was in a train. We were in one of the booths which was quite uncomfortable as it was so tight and you ended up sitting so close to the table. Might be because I’m a larger built type of person but still, a squeeze. Staff were very friendly and explained the menu to us as it was our first visit. We ordered two curries each, a vegetable and chicken pakora (which has different names which I don’t dare to try and type), fried rice, “masala” fries and both a Peshwari and garlic naan. Both my curries were identical despite being allegedly different. The naan breads were quite thin and closer to being a chapati. My partner had prawns and wasn’t too keen on them, especially their texture. The chicken pakora was nice however was quite similar to goujons. The vegetable pakora was lukewarm and not my favourite. We did have dessert which was probably the highlight of the meal, I had the donuts (again different name, can’t remember) and my partner had the rice pudding. Not the cheapest of places, I understand it’s tapas style with the portion sizes but over £8 for two pieces of chicken in sauce is a bit pricy. Also should note that they add an optional service charge of 10% which is highlighted on the menu so it should not be a surprise when you get your bill. We did enjoy ourselves, not sure if we’d go back. We may have just ordered the wrong things.

Chaakoo is by far one of the best Indian restaurants in the city. Their food is authentic and always to the same high standards. The restaurant in the West End has a lovely, relaxing atmosphere, and the staff are attentive but not overbearing, resulting in an enjoyable dining experience. The restaurant in the city centre naturally has a busier vibe, but this does not detract from the food or the service. Dishes like their railway chicken, tandoori dhal, and cauliflower kebab exemplify their authenticism to Indian cuisine and make for welcome change to the norm! Highly recommend!

Lovely restaurant with the most delightful atmosphere, delicious food, charming staff - thoroughly enjoyed my time here & would definitely come again. Had my standard saag paneer - always interesting comparing the way different places have their own take on this dish. It was very nice, but as with a takeaway I had in Glasgow earlier this year, the dish was very different to the way it's presented where I live (Aberdeen) - perhaps it's just a variation depending on the region the restaurant represents. I wouldn't necessarily have this dish again in this part of the world, but that's no reflection on this restaurant or indeed the takeaway, it's just my preference. The samosas were superb - pastry was wafer thin, melted in the mouth, & the filling was delicious. This was my first time here, recommended by the friend I dined with, & we had a lovely time.

We tried Chaakoo for the first time as our friend had given us a voucher. It’s in the old Di Maggio’s building at the far end of Ruthven lane. You can smell the spices as you walk in and the decor is that of an old-fashioned Indian train carriage, with nice booths and a wooden bar area. Our drinks order was taken promptly and I’d say both the red wines we tried were very nice (Cabernet and Pinot Noir). We enjoyed a selection of dishes: the tandoori skewers were delicious as was the paneer masala. The house salad was a bit less exciting than it sounded but did the job. The paneer naan was fine, but not a patch on the Shish Mahal naan (sorry!). We rounded off with the delicious honeycomb ice cream and a couple of drinks. The beer was cold and the cocktails were fantastic. Sometimes we found it took a little while to wave over a waiter as they were all congregated at the counter. Nevertheless I would say the service was good and we really enjoyed our meal. Toilets were fine except the ladies needs a hook on the back of the door and for the handle and toilet seat to be screwed back in (daft wee details, I know). Overall, we would recommend chaakoo for a slightly different curry experience with excellent flavours.

Absolutely loved this visit. Being an Indian who recently moved to Glasgow, I always hesitated to visit Indian Restaurants here as I never felt I’d enjoy it, especially because I didn’t have a great experience with Indian takeout. We ended up going to Chakoos one night as we got a little lost late at night, honestly one of the best things that could have happened that day. We tried the Afghani Tikka as a starter and for drinks had the High Tea in Chennai and Hazelnut White Russian, for the main course we had Garlic Naan and Chicken Malabari, and for dessert we shared a Chocolate Orange Mousse and Masala Chai. Everything was just fabulous and the day was especially memorable due to the amazing staff and atmosphere. From getting there without a reservation but still being treated with such priority, to the amazing conversations we had with our server Hestia, who went beyond their way and left a thank you note on our bill which just made this visit feel so special. Little personalised touches like these make the customer want to visit the place again and I know for sure I’ll be going to Chaakoo very soon!

The wait staff was nice and friendly and the atmosphere and decor were nice. They were very accommodating of our large group and 1 year old throwing tantrums. Moving on to the food, we didn't like the special tea - it was barely warm when served and we returned the order. The tea they brought back was warmer but not as hot as we'd have liked and it felt very diluted. Similarly the mango lassi was diluted. We were disappointed with the drink orders but the appetizers saved the day. We ordered Aloo Chana salad, Afghani Tikka and Machli pakora. All three were great to taste. We didn't stay for mains. Overall this didn't feel like a spot for authentic Indian food - doesn't have the Bombay/Irani Cafe experience we were hoping for

Frequent Indian restaurants in Philadelphia, PA, USA and this establishment was equally as good, if not better. There were five of us and the variety of food orders ranged from Butter Chicken to mixed Kabobs! The portions are large and the bread was delicious. Recommend this place completely!

One of my favourite Indian restaurants, it easily makes it into my top 5 favourites for food. Always have a lovely meal in the restaurant and I also use it for carry out meals which are also excellent. Staff are very helpful and always cheerful.

Ordered 3 chicken steaks with chips, one without peppercorn sauce but they sent out all 3 with peppercorn sauce. When called them up, the staff member just laughed at the mistake and said it wasn’t her who prepared the order. Kids don’t eat peppercorn so having to cook at home for the kids!
