Ive lived in Glasgow for nearly 30 years and this was my first visit to the Anarkali --now need to make up for lost time!! What fantastic food and happy helpful staff!

Gran comida como siempre y thr noche fue hecho aún mejor por Vicky, nuestra camarera, que era tan amable y servicial. Definitivamente volveré pronto.

One word, "superb", definitely worth a visit.

Really disappointing. I thought the reviews and the food would live up to the hype but I'm honestly confused. Everything was very greasy. We had the chicken pakora which was greasy and didn't taste of much. However, the quality of the chicken was good. The nann wasn't nice, bland and very doughy. The two curries both were chicken but had two different types of chicken? Curries were okay at best Would not return. We both rated it a 4/10. Very disappointing :(

Lovely small restaurant on Victoria road. We held a surprise dinner with 15 people ( three tables pushed together) and the service could not have been better. The staff were very friendly too. Curry was also great.

Actually the best curry we have ever had. The special chicken korma was fantastic. Vicky is also the best!

Sin embargo, cuando llegó la comida nos pareció de primera clase, la calidad de la carne era excelente. Fue sin duda el mejor que he tenido en una comida asiática. También me sorprendió encontrar que el inodoro era moderno, luminoso e impecablemente limpio, una muy buena señal en cualquier restaurante. Bien hecho.

I think this may be the best Indian food I have had thus far. And if that was not enough, the service was absolutely amazing. Top tier!

Where do I start? This was one of the best experiences of my visit here in Glasgow. Epitomized the quintessential hospitality of the Glasgow locals with the stellar service supplied with excellent food that was a firm foundation for the evening.

By far the best Indian in Strathclyde if not the UK. We travel from EK to get our favourite Chicken Tikka main meal and curry sauce. Portions are generous and all tasty. Sitting in is bring your own bottle and has a good vibrant atmosphere

Anarkali is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in Glasgow. Food is fantastic and staff are super friendly. On my last visit I had the best curry I can remember eating and a perfect naan bread - consistent but light and still delicious a day after (took some home). Will be back - and often!

Meal We have to say was gorgeous as always but & this I think is a major BUT ...... one of our family was not feeling well and did not want a full meal. We were told that we would have to pay an extra 10% , he said he would have another starter but no the extra 10% would still be in place ! So guys be aware , just to let you know there was 9 of us, love the food but and that is a major but. Make your own decision .

Still love this place years after my first visit. Fresh tasty and quick lunch. The chilli chicken masala was top notch. The nans were so fresh and tasted amazing. 3 people fed for £32. Absolutely brilliant.

Wasn't actually able to eat here since the opening hours given online are wrong. Supposedly opening at noon, we turned up at 1pm to discover the place wasn't opening until 3pm.

It's Restaurant are very good and service are very nice. Please my Indian brother visit it. ❤️❤️

10/10. Came here with a party of 14 and the food was delicious. Service was excellent, Vicky in particular made sure we were well looked after. She couldn’t have done more for us. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Amazing Indian. Always get the. chicken Rogan Josh - it’s so tangy. Usually do takeaway but great to sit in for BYOB. Good value.

Been going for years, love the food that's why I go back time after time. Back again, hardly changed at all, still the same exceptional food. I'll be back. Just can't keep away, been coming here since 1985 when I lived in the area, and despite moving away come back regularly. Great food, cannot be faulted.

Best Indian restaurant in the southside.

Omg this place should not be about to trade I went on Mother’s Day for dinner the service was absolutely diabolical!!!! There was only 4 tables taken and the takeout was a riot we got completely ignored 3 time asking for a Diet Coke then ordered a royal curry lol absolutely disgusting tasteless also have. Ever seen rice on the same plate 😩😩😩vile the boss is an arrogant piece off work don’t know how this place has managed to stay open the time it has because me my friends and family would never touch this place again with a barge pole 😡😡😡😡😡then have the cheek to take ur money hysterical

Food was nice, service was good but the naan was outstanding. Biggest, freshest naan in the world... ever. Well probably not, but still huge. If you want alcohol please take your own or have soft drinks.

Absolutely disgusted by delivery service Saturday 6th January phoned order at 4.50pm which was all good called back at 6 o'clock to be told order was on its way then had to call back at 6.25pm to be told order was still on its way having been a regular customer for over 20 years can't believe the level of service was not really offered any explanation of why it was taking so long & also no apology definitely will not be using in the future such a shame as food has always been so good.

8 of us went in after a pool competition. Everyone's food was extremely tasty and portion size was very generous. Allowed to bring your own bottle. Will definitely be back soon. 10 out of 10.

Slow service and waiters who don't listen, worst experience for a long time. Two and a half hours for 2 courses, won't be back giving one star because not allowed to give zero

The quality of the food never wavers , consistently good ,bring your own alcohol,no corkage.

Always go here for take away curry its the best, fod is always great as well as service apart from last night when I never got an item and phoned, said it would be delivered to my home but it didnt but would still go back.

We have been eating out of here since I was 15 we were now 60 years old and where regular customers and known well by the staff through time quality of food was dropping so we gave it a rest and tried other take aways so on Saturday 30/9/2023 we thought we would give it a chance but shouldn’t have bothered the food was horrible the bhoona was tasteless also got a chicken tikka tandoori massala which was also tasteless and very poor both curries tasted exact same no difference as one was asked to be a hotter sauce also spiced onions missing after paying for them safely to say I will not be back and will not recommend it to anyone very disappointing which is a shame as was the best Indian in the south side but sorry to say not now !!!!!

Tasty, good portions and good value

I hadn’t been in this restaurant for twenty years or so and I could see that the decor hasn’t changed much, if at all, since then……..the walls are pretty grubby and could do with more than just a lick of paint. We started with Pakora which was a bit dry, not sure if they either don’t give you a sauce with it or they just forgot……next was mutter paneer and a biryani……a bit bland for both of them……..it’s a bit of a shame I really wanted to enjoy their food but you can get better nearby for probably cheaper……

Terrific Indian food! The service is super - its a lovely place to have dinner. We loved it so much we returned for a second time(we’re visiting Glasgow from Australia) Nice to be able to take our own wine.

Quite small restaurant so booking probably essential especially at peak times. Food was excellent and service friendly The restaurant isn't licensed but you can byob without corkage charges Highly recommended for tasty Indian food on Southside of Glasgow!!

This review is not good and it really pains me because we have been eating food from the Anarkali for at least 25 years. As youngsters we lived in a flat round the corner and now many years on we live in St Annes in Lancashire and when we are home visiting family we always order an Anarkali carry-out to bring 200 miles back home cos it’s is the best…. Until tonight. So I ordered various dishes amounting to over £70. Usual starters, chicken pakora, prawn puri, tikka starter etc, and our usual mains, tandoori mix grill, special biryani, chicken/lamb tikka masala. Issues, 1. Liquid leaked out of containers into both bags. Nan bread was completely ruined. 2. Prawn puri? Was like a sweet and sour dish. Not like any prawn puri I have had at Anarkali before (or anywhere else) 3.. chicken tikka masala and lamb tikka masala! The menu says “Pieces Of Chicken Tikka Cooked Into A Rich Creamy Sauce With Ground Cashew Nuts, Coconut Powder & Almonds”. I got meat ( and not tandoori or tikka) in a red spicy sauce. Certainly not what I have been served from the Anarkali before. At this point I now have a tandoori mix grill that has leaked all over the bag and a special biryani that is just no longer appealing. This meal was bought specially to be shared with Glasgow friends here in Lancashire tomorrow night as we have always raved about the fabulous Anarkali. So disappointed won’t be serving up the food I bought tonight.

After reading good reviews decided to pop in for a takeaway. Just to go several years ago. Service is confused almost like Basil faulty. Food bland, special fired rice only had mushrooms and too much oil. Curry ok but short on chicken. Won't return.

Food very good service great

I've ordered two takeaways from here recently, and both times the meals were brilliant. But both times, once when I was picking up, and the other when it was getting delivered, we've been left waiting for our food. The food is brilliant so I can understand they are busy. But please try give more realistic pickup/delivery times, or at least chuck us some free poppadoms for waiting! Great food, could do better on the service side, but easily rectified.

Food is fantastic very friendly staff the only thing was on Monday there I called in for a takeaway I ordered chicken tikka tandoori it says on the menu it comes with salad and the lady serving me said do you want salad I said yes she said its an extra £1.50 I said no if that's the case the menu has to be changed to say no salad.

Still serves the best pakora and naan bread, ever!

Amazingly tasty fresh currys and the Naans are super special. Lightning is a bit bright but it still has a traditional Indian Restaurant atmosphere which I love.

Waited two hours for dinner last Saturday night …..not ok 👎. Do not take my order if you cannot send. Who wants to wait two hours for their dinner !!!!! Beware. Never again.

Got a home delivery last Saturday opened the bag to find the 2 curries had opened and were all over the Naan and chips driver must be Louis Hamilton not happy 😒😡😡

Very tasty set meal for 2 for a reasonable price to take out , ordering on their website and collecting was easy. The veggie pakora is the best in Glasgow and over the years the taste of these pakora has stayed the same and they come in a massive bag...

Me and my partner found the place of google and saw the reviews. We were very warmly welcomed. The gentleman was very polite and friendly. We saw a wide variety of choice on the menu. Mainly focusing on chicken based dishes. The food came a quick but reason time for it to be cooked with care. The chicken was pure white and juicy. All food looked fresh and smelt great. The naan bread is the biggest I’ve seen. Can’t speak highly enough of the food. Best I’ve tasted. Very high recommend this restaurant.

This is by far the best take away food I've tried in years. I have never sat in for a meal but going by the take away it must be very good. I found it reasonably priced and the food authentic. If you are looking for genuine Indian food this is the place for you.

Ordered a meal for two, came to the door with only one rice, phoned and spoke to them, first they insisted I didn’t order two rices, then the phone got put down on me, phoned back to which they told me to come and get it. My family was up. A ridiculous way to treat paying customers. And it wasn’t cheap. Pakora was very dry and the popadoms where soggy. Will never buy from here again.

I just had an amazing food delivery yesterday and was so delicious 😋 I had lb bhoona desi style with green Chilli chicken tikka w/d salad 🥗 chopped and garlic chilli 🌶 sauce 4 butter chapati garlic chilli coriander nan riata spiced onions mango chutney 4 crispy poppadoms I've not had a better day at work for months everyone else was off or dying from flu bug amazing keeps the doctors 😋 away 😋 😀 then I remembered my father built the restaurant in 1978 gave it a fantastic name Anarkali shah jahan wife in anyone didn't know he built the Taj mahal for his wife 😋 I started working with my father and brother washing dishes my brother got the better end of the stbick he worked in the front of house 🏠 😋but I went on to work in probably the best Indian in the UK 🇬🇧 😀 killermont polo club bears den really Maryhill 😀 lol 😆 if anyone would like to hear more about my life story 😀 I'm writing a book 360 degree's Glasgow style coming out soon 😀 Enjoy the rest 😀 keep up the good work Anarkali established 1974 simply the best 👌 👍 😍

Was told they have great food never got the chance to try as their customer service is appalling they don't answer phones been calling for over 2 hours. Won't ever try again! Taking my money elsewhere.

We ordered 2 currys last night wich came withing 20 mins the currys were for the first time in my life tastless after having to call and complain and ask them to resend or give us our money back the shop agreed to 2 hours later by this time my husvand had got food feom somewhere else and i explained we do not want the food resent untill tomorrow as we have now had to eat something else it cost 35 pounds for our food when i called up tonight and explained again i was told there is nothing that they could do seriously 35 pounds for a bite of each curry having been a customer for over ten years i am disgusted with how we have been treated even tipping the delivery driver 4 pounds as i expected nothing less than really good food this is a joke and me or my friends and familly will not be using this shop ever again disgusting

Had dinner last night pakora, chicken wings, paneer pakora, chicken Tikka main courses and lamb main course super food amazing place great taste to the food made proper Indian style fresh ingredients service fantastic, really well looked after no hesitation going there again. Table of 9

I ordered 2 curries and side dishes for £38 last night. One of the curries (paneer and mushroom) had a huge long black hair in it. The food, until this discovery, was good but obviously after finding the hair the entire meal was inedible. After complaining, I was told to drive to the restaurant today and I would be given a refund. I assumed this would be for the whole amount given that the whole meal became inedible as we were frightened what else we would find! However, I was only given a refund for the hairy curry! The whole meal was ruined so I’m shocked I was only refunded for the items with actual hair in them! It wasn’t worth the hassle or petrol! Terrible customer service!!

Love that you can order just the sauces without the meat or veg. I then add my own free range chicken or wild prawns. Food is excellent.

Always top notch food and service consistently

Revisiting this review after trying a few more curries to increase from four to five stars. The quality of the food is excellent. The Tikka Sizzler meal which comes with loads of really good chicken. Madrass is proper hot and Patia has the perfect blend of spice and tangyness. Rice is cooked to perfection and doesn't stick together and nan & chapati are good too. I used to use Little India in Shawlands and never managed to find anywhere as good. The Anarkali is great and one of the very best in Glasgow.

Your staff has been very rude and they have no customer ethics. They were all hiding their faces when we needed something. No one even asked for water. Plain water should be offered on the table at all means which wasnt served. We asked for a high chair which the restaurant didnt seem to have. There was too much food color in the fish dish I ordered. The beef biryani didnt taste like biryani it tasted like coloured rice n boiled beef. The chicken korma didnt taste anything like chicken korma it was like chicken with a mixture of uncooked gravy. I dont know how u want to improve all this but I must say I had the worst experience. The next day was my birthday n I was supposed to treat my family for my birthday n this kind of food n experience. Yuk!!! I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

A lovely takeaway, was a shame that the boxes of food spilled in the bag, as it was so delicious we didn't want to waste any! So better packing boxes be a way forward? We ordered Pakoras & the portion size was massive! Overall a lovely meal would definitely sit in next time rather than a takeaway!

La nourriture indienne était excellente (notamment le naan sucré qui était exceptionnel). Le service était rapide et le personnel gentil. Le rapport qualité/prix est très bon. L'ambiance indienne est appréciable.

Received a delivery of tandoori chicken and pakora, the chicken was absolutely perfect and not at all dry as many I've had before from other establishments. The sauce was especially good and spicy without being too much so. The chips were perfect and the chapati was also fantastic! Definitely will be ordering again!

The food from here is great! They never disappoint! However, on a couple of occasions the driver has been really rude but I put it down to him maybe having a bad day…Nah, same again tonight! I open the door and say “hello”, no response, he hands the bag over (doesn’t even look at you) and I say, “thanks very much” no response and he walks away ? What pi$$es me off, is that I have a locked gate as I have dogs (one of which is a pup) he walks out and leaves it wide open! It was closed when you came in it! Shut it, and lock it when you leave! If he doesn’t like his job, he should get a new one! He’s a rude, miserable man that shouldn’t be allowed near customers! Manners cost nothing, but he won’t be get any from me in future! Disgusted…

Tried chicken and paneer for the first time.. it had no Indian test.. only thing was it was not oily

This restaurant is a little gem behind an unassuming front. The welcome was very friendly and before long, the restaurant was completely full and new arrivals were being turned away. The menu is varied, with options for vegetarians and vegans. £9.95 for a delicious and filling two course lunch is hard to beat. It was my first visit, but it won’t be my last.

A wee lunch time curry with another pair of old farts. Limited but Decent food, nan bread the size of tennis rackets but prices were only £10 for 2 courses and to cap it off it's a BYOB SO winner winner chicken dinner.

Turned up at the Anarkali today with a family member and asked for a table for 2. The restaurant was half empty but the man at the door said there were no tables! His attitude was rude and aggressive. When we decided to leave he immediately said that he'd give us a table! Won't be back.
