I get inordinately excited when I arrive at the Co-op to find the ridiculous revolving door out of action, or the fire door sneakily open. Otherwise, a rather magnificent store for little Rutland, with a good range of products and excellent staff and service.

I like the layout of this shop. Such a shame that the food does not have long enough use by expiry dates. Which means I am unable to do more than I days shopping. Even when it does the food goes off before the use by date. No matter what brand of bread I buy it is usually dry and goes mouldy within a couple of days. Why don't they install self service Checkouts?? Only ever one checkout open. I go here because its convenient but always dissatisfied with the freshness of food!!!

This store has been going downhill since 2018. The shelves have been run down with large cardboard shelf fillers occupying space where stock used to be. There is something very wrong with either the store's ordering or supplies from their central distribution centre. This has been going on long before COVID struck and is now ten times worse. The poor staff are always kind and helpful but are not supported by the company. I believe they are deliberately running the store down to sell off the land for housing. Shocking.

I called in for some provisions on my way home, and I haven't sed this co-op for a while as there were always queues at the checkout. Unfortunately thngs have not changed. There were onlt two checkouts open and at least 3 people waiting at each whilst other employees stacked shelves. There is a lot of competition now in Oakham and there are never enough checkouts open in my experience in this store. Once at the checkout, as usual, the staff are very friendly and polite, its just such a shame it takes so long to meet them. Please have more checkouts open!

we bought some shopping on route to a holiday and called in .. drinks were OK - sandwiches not great - in a chiller - a bit soggy and not very tasty .. only 2 there - so little choice. This was early lunchtime so should have been more to tempt people ... Struggled a bit .. The place is good for a quick stop and a drink. Few staff and service quite slow really. We saw people eating hot food - but the menu board is posted behind you as you queue and is easily missed. So we just thought what was on show was the only choice,

Went for a quick coffe and bacon sandwich. Had to wait quite a while to get served; there was no queue just no-one at the counter. The coffee was fine but the bread for the sandwich was several days old and really dry. Don't think I'll bother again!

basic cafe / coffee house offering, generally well priced. The seating, free papers, and tv make for a pleasant rest following a heavy grocery shop

This company had a stall selling coffee and pastries at Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. They took the payment and then I realised there was a 20 minute wait for two coffees and a pastry which cost over £12 and the coffee was horrible. Muddy, weak and tasteless. I asked them to redo it, which one of the guys did, however, it was still weak and tasteless even with half the water. I was told to wait to complain to the manager but when he eventually came he was rude and refused to give me a refund. Other people in the queue were also unhappy and someone else brought their drink back as well. I said I would post a review and he said he didn’t care as he had sold thousands of coffees. Terrible service and coffee and the manager is arrogant. Avoid this company if you can

Using rooms rating instead for the food rating , as it was amazing. Started out with a 3 for £15 nibbles board between three of us, which was just the right amount for the wait until mains. Once they arrived, I was greeted by the best fish and chips I've had in my life, with amazing tartare sauce and the mushy peas were beautiful. Will be coming again for certain! The only negative I can think of was the service was slightly on the slower side, but still very professional and well done! Thank you for a wonderful evening! Edit: Been back twice since the reopening, and both times had amazing food and atmosphere!

Visited on a trip to Oakham. It's Caffe Nero so you know what to expect but it's cosy with nice coffee. Only downside for me is that it seems to be one of the branches that allow dogs. And there were quite a lot squealing and clip clopping around on the wooden floors. Price you pay for being deep in the country I guess.
