Great find. Wonderful, friendly, and welcoming staff. They took my order and brought my mocha to the table where I set up to work on my laptop. Access to a plug point and WiFi helped me get on with my work day. Great alternative to the likes of Costa and Starbucks. And the toilet was pristinely clean, so much so that I took the video. 👇🏼

First time in with a friend who has been many times before. A bit austere when you walk in, but a solid, simple menu well prepared and presented is enough for me to consider coming back soon. Reminded me a little of the old Wimpy bars back in the day. Staff very helpful and polite. Clean, if a little lacking in character. Top marks for food. My friend had a generous full English breakfast, I had a half pounder and chips.

I used to eat here regularly while working in Ipswich Town Centre (but that was 10+ years ago) The quality of the breakfast wasn’t terrible but the product used was of a much lower standard than I remember it being Ok Breakfast but over priced for the quality of product used… there are better options available for around the same cost C - Not terrible but unlikely I’ll return

Unfortunately I think that the chef has changed because my breakfast here always used to be 10/10 but the last 2 times that I have been my eggs have been way over cooked and I always ask for my toast on the side because I can’t have margarine or butter and if it’s on the side I can see if any of these have been put on my toast but today my toast was buried under the eggs and bacon. I wouldn’t mind if I had not specifically asked for the toast to be on the side so I will be trying other places for my breakfast from now on😢

Came here with the wife for a bite to eat and a hot drink. Staff are friendly and food/drinks came out quick and in good order. Nice little cafe with outside seating and plenty of seating inside. Forgot to ask if they had Wifi. Prices were reasonable and the kind of food expected in a cafe.

Im glad that i found this place, not expensive and taste is good. Also you can seat outside and staff is brilliant 😁

Terrible waste of money! £8.50 for pancake stack 3 tiny pancakes like the little ones you put in the toaster and 3 small pieces of bacon with watered down syrup.

Went for breakfast, one of the few cafes that have a pancake option perfect for the kids. Food is good, just felt a bit over priced. £2.20 for a can of coke is extortionate. with the parking fine (my fault) our new years day breakfast trip cost £95.

Perfect breakfast every time. Staff very friendly and the cafe is always clean and tidy. No complaints whatsoever.

This is a terrible food I have ever eaten. We have ordered fish and chips the frozen fish was over cooked in the old oil and another order tasted tasteless at all. They couldn’t make any effort.

Excellent service and the meal was good

Got the build your own breakfast that is nearly £9. Making each item over a £1. Received a tablespoon of beans, probably 2 button mushrooms finely sliced... Every other item was pretty small. Felt very stingy for the price when you can get far better elsewhere for the same or cheaper.

I went here with a friend for breakfast. The waitress greated us and was very friendly. The place looked very clean and didn't smell greasy. I had the traditional breakfast but I'm allergic to mushrooms so I asked to swap them for another slice of bacon. I got told you're not allowed to swap item's so I just had the same breakfast without them at the same price. Just because of thos I won't return and have given it 3 stars. Other than that the food was good but nothing special.

Minimum card payment 10£, spent 9,60 £ and I had to go out and get some money from the cash machine. We took a sit and we were told to go and order at the counter where we asked if it was possible to change one thing in the dish (of course it was absolutely not possible). Food was more than ok but the service was not so good. We were used to before the pandemic and the scenario was soooo different (what a potty for a small business that needs support from the community). Ah …. Before the owner play the card of the business place and too many people to take care of… the canteen was almost empty 😉) .

Nice well cooked food........but not enough of the mushrooms they serve around 3 per breakfast and so over priced and the cans of fizzy is absolutely ridiculously over priced, food tasted lovely but wouldn't order from here again

Nice food and friendly staff, decent open space and not a bad selection of food either. Fizzy cans are abit overpriced but all in all definitely a place to check out!

A classic British cafe as far as menu choice and atmosphere are concerned. The food was ok, but felt overpriced. Service was slow and lacklustre. Other reviewers are more positive, so maybe they had an off day.

Following all social distancing rules, was not too crowded so felt comfortable eating in. Had a panni which came nicely presented with a small side salad and a few crisps, reasonably priced

Very clean environment. Very friendly staff nothing is too trouble for them. All day breakfast is brilliant. The portion size is just right it was really filling. £1.80 for a can is a bit steeeep on price I'd say more £1 or 0.80

It was a very clean little cafe and a fairly extensive menu. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food was quit good. I didn't fancy eating in the market so l went in here. I had chicken and mushroom pie with chips peas and gravy, the meal was quit large and filling and fairly good value, l think l paid about £8.80. and did not need to eat for the rest of the day!

I love a good old fashioned jacket potato

had a breakfast with my son. the food was not up to the usual standard and the sausage tasted vile. i felt sick after eating a bit and couldn’t eat most of the breakfast because of this. my son also said the sausage tasted off. when i told the server about the sausage her only reply was “i’m sorry about that “. there was no offer of a refund, considering i had only eaten a few bites of food. and the payment for the order was taken before we had the food served. as i left, i could hear her telling the owner about it. i walked away slowly and there was no attempt from the owner to talk to me about this. i always enjoyed eating here before, but now i will never go back in, and i certainly would not recommend it to anyone.

Me and my mum love it here. The food is great and the service us too. Very reasonably priced and never feel rushed. Its clean, well decorated and tidy.

Searching this site for cheap, simple breakfasts, did not bring up much of what I was looking for. Getting off the P & R, we wandered a couple of yards and found ourselves outside Central Canteen. It was exactly what we wanted and very reasonably priced. We were served quickly and most pleasantly by a charming, young lady. My bacon sandwich was well buttered and cooked beautifully. My husband’s small breakfast hit the spot. Tea and coffee were both good. The exterior belies the excellence of this establishment.

Lovely little cafe. Enjoy going there with my girls n grandchildren.

me and my wife have had a lot of breakfast in our time but this has to be the worst we have had now i like my fried eggs to look nice i like to dip my toast in a nice runny egg but no kidding when they brought me my food the eggs were so over done you could not tell weather they were eggs im sorry but if a chef serves food like that he should not be in a kitchen

Terrible service I once went in the cafe and when asked for extra butter for my jacket potato as there was hardly any on it I was told it would be 50p extra. The next time I went in there I went to the toilet in the middle of my meal with food left on my plate and some of my drink left and was disgusted to find my meal had been thrown away. All I was offered was 10 percent discount off my next meal how wrong is that! I had spent over seven pounds on the meal.

We dropped in here for a quick lunch whilst shopping in the town centre. The waiting staff were very welcoming - nice friendly smiles and greetings. The food was disappointing. The ham that's served with eggs and chips is cheap, packaged processed ham. If you have a dairy allergy, ask for no butter in the jacket potatoes. This was an oversight on our part but it meant that most of the potato was inedible. The tuna mayonnaise was plentiful and the side salad had some leaves that weren't iceberg. On the plus side, the coffee came in a large cup and was very good. There is ramp access to a very disabled-friendly toilet, which is also in the Canteen's favour. There might be a bit of a bump crossing the mat well in the doorway if you're using a wheelchair but it's possibly manageable. The Canteen served its purpose but we'd probably go somewhere else for lunch another time.

I attended with my mum and friends we ordered our meals and they were wrong so had them changed and then they were cold the second time and tasted awful very very over priced and value for money really isn't there for the quality of food and service received and we were even short changed when we paid at the end to

forgot to bring my food out, twice in a row both times going there for lunch! Everyone i was with food came out fine.....just forgot about me twice! Embarrassing.

Four of us (one child) popped in for an impromptu lunch on Friday, and we are so glad we did! Great menu for choice (can highly recommend the big breakfast, which is served all day!) and the pancake bacon & syrup stack is also great! Also they have a nice children’s menu. The cafe was busy but we were shown to a table out the back, the place was very clean and the staff very efficient and friendly. Prices reasonable for good home cooked, tasty and well presented food, we will definitely be back!

The service is friendly and good. The menu is safe basics, mostly grilled not fried. Quality plate of dinner/breakfasts etc and good value for money. The eating area is spacious and light. They do close early on 'slow' days. I feel relaxed and at home here. ❤️ I'm on a well known Slimming Club eating plan and they were happy to accommodate my swaps and the side salad was huge! I ordered chicken burger but with mash(should have had a jacket really) instead of bun. The burger was coated in crunchy crumbs which I didn't expect but was grilled not fried.

So i went to the canteen today because I'm with a client. I thought I would try the breakfast. Never seen anything so tight in all my life! 1 of everything and 5 tiny bits of mushroom and they have the nerve to charge me £6.99! Won't be going back thats for sure!

Came here on a Saturday morning. Big breakfast was lovely and hearty. 2 of everything, eggs, hash brown, bacon , sausages and beans with toast. Came to £17 for 2 of us. Friendly staff. Reasonably quick service. Whenever I fancy breakfast in the town, I would choose this place first.

Called in for quick hot lunch. Reasonably priced traditional cafe menu with some limited veggie choices although did have an interesting veggie risotto on the menu. No veggie breakfast deal on the menu. Jacket potato was rather disappointing as skin tasted microwaved rather than conventionally baked in its jacket.

We visited here on Sunday 29th April we had not even sat down and the waitress wanted to take out order, we asked her to come back in few minutes we’ll she walked to the counter and came back we were not ready to ordered felt pressured into ordering. We order the quarter pound burger combo well it was not fit to even feed a dog, the burger bun was like charcoal so burnt and hard. The onion rings were over cooked and hard and as for the chips well they looked over cooked but were still frozen inside. An experience not to be met again. The really need to look at the cooks skills as this was awful and if you keep providing food like this you will lose customer. A great disappointment as I usual love this place but a real let down

If I want to wait 10 minutes for a sub-standard sausage bap in a burger bun...I will come back. Sausages were badly overcooked and why not put it in a normal roll for breakfast not a burger bun. Felt it was a long wait time for takeaway...First time id tried this café, wont be going back...Staff are very friendly and nice but sack your chef

We had a jacket potato and a toastie. Very nicely cooked and served with a smile. A good place to drop into. I noticed that they also served pies with veg so great for anyone who wants more. Only rated 4 as the chilli on the potato wasn't hot enough.
