Una noche en el teatro Rep para ver Un villancico de Navidad, fue una excelente producción muy profesional, bien vale la pena la visita.

My friends and I arrived 50 mins before the fantastic Bugsy Malone production at The Rep ostensibly to have a pre-show drink. Truthfully the place was chaos. Tables were a mess, the bar looked like the pie-fight in Bugsy Malone; the two staff consisted a gentleman making a meal of making a coffee with what looked to be the most over-complicated barista coffee machine I've ever seen; and a young lady who seemed never to have worked a bar before. When we arrived 3 people were waiting to be served. 20 minutes later the original 3 were joined by another 12 while the bar-staff worked hard to avoid any eye contact with customers. After an age we placed an order for 3 simple cocktails. Our choice had to be changed as we were gruffly told 'we don't have ingredients for those' It seems they didn't have the ingredients for the alternatives either as one drink supposed to consist Rum, Red Vermouth and Chocolate was in fact Whisky, Soda and so much Angostura as to be both undrinkable and poisonous. The back bar at the interval was similarly chaotic; at least 20 people who had pre-ordered found no or the wrong drinks whilst one of the two bar staff spent the interval re-making and service 'pre-ordets'. We went 'super-simple' with Rose Wine this time; it was served at room temperature despite a row of empty fridges.... The bar manager apologized to 19's of complainants but was I'm afraid totally out of his depth. Appalling experience - will never, ever repeat.

Me and a friend stopped here for a drink on a very hot day. English Breakfast tea for my friend, no problem. I asked for Earl Grey tea, with some lemon - they do not have fresh lemon. Surely Earl Grey with lemon is nothing unusual. I had to settle for a juice instead since it was too hot for coffee.

Enjoyed pre drinks before going to the theatre to watch a show. Nice relaxed atmosphere able to drink outside as it was a lovely summers evening.

That's a perfect location cafe-brasserie-bar for theatre goers but not exclusively. Lovely design, relaxed atmosphere and comfortable seating. We had hot drinks, coffee with Irish cream, and a chocolate. Quite standard. Reasonable prices.

pre show bebidas y encargados intervalo bebidas al mismo tiempo.

A good hustle and bustle place where you can watch all the theatre goers and library visitors whilst relaxing with a pre theatre drink, that is before you realise your play started 5 mins ago!!! AGhhh!! Friendly staff. Try it!

We only stopped here by chance for coffee to get out of the rain. We did see a limited menu and the food brought out to diners looked appetising. We will certainly pop back in when next in town. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff.

It has been some time since I visited The Rep where we always had a meal before the theatre and sometimes a meal without going on to watch a play.I arrived on my own whilst there were quite a few sofa and coffee tables available I just managed to get a table for two where were could eat with a knife and fork.A couple of staff were wondering about and I remarked how difficult it was to go up to the bar and keep a table when one is on their own....no reaction leaving some personal items on the table I went to the bar, as my friend was late I was going to order a sandwich and drink,I had looked at the menu I didn't realise the food was prepacked like a supermarket, only sandwich left jerk chicken wraps the salads also came in plastic!!! My friend arrived and we decided on a bowl meal amazingly a member of staff came and took our order where was he when I was on my own.The bowl meal was small Luke warm and with very little flavour there was Tabasco sauce on the table this I spilled liberally with black pepper.I do worry how long good stays in the trays heated(badly) given that they claim to serve food all day.The staff were, friendly and the only plus point was we could take plastic glass of wine into the theatre. My advice drink don't eat I believe this place is to serve the library .

I happened upon a flyer for the tasting menu and matching wine whilst visiting the Library in Birmingham, i checked the price (£40) and thought it must be a printing error. Booking a table was a challenge with the manager not present at 11:10am, when I spoke to the bar man he said I should come back after 11am when they started.I pointed out that it was already 10 minute past 11 and he could not offer any reasons other than i should phone later. I did phone but numerous times all I got was a recorded message saying the staff were busy. I left two answer phone messages and eventually someone called me back and a table for two was booked. This wasn't filling me with much faith in either the staff or the venue, we arrived at the starting time of 7pm but there was no warm greetings just pointed to some chairs and asked to wait. charm and warmth nil. After a few minutes the manager took us to a large table where we were joined by 7 other diners and the man giving us all the information on the wines. so few people. very soon all the negatives i have written faded away. Pink sparkling wine from Kent arrived......wow. chilled watercress soup and home made bread rolls with matching white wine. this was followed by the thinest slice of Tuna with a chilli dressing presented in such a way it was a shame to eat it, but eat it we did and god was it good. Could the chefs maintain this standard......YES was the answer, we were treated to Crayfish & Lobster with matching wine (a wonderful sancere), then came the Duck Tortellini in a consomme so clear i thought they hadn't drained the pasta correctly. yet another course with no trace left on anyones plate. Lamb Cutlets with pea fricassee and mint gel followed. Melt in the mouth and wine that made a marriage in heaven. would i have room for the 6th course? chocolate mousse hazelnuts and sticky black cherries. dare i say it.......orgasmic! and oh my god the chilled red dessert wine was amazing. all this for £40 where on earth were the rest of you? you missed a meal and wine that was sensational. so Centenary sort out the staffing niggles and your telephone system and maybe the restaurant would have been full. I'd return for sure if you put this event on......oh and the portions could never be described as mean!!!! sorry but I didn't take any photo's, the food and wine were too good to miss the moment by messing around with a camera.

After making a reservation the previous week, I found they had no record of my booking or dietary requirements. Waitress and Manager were both largely incompetent - nobody seemed to know what was going on. I visited on a Groupon voucher, and paid £12 for 2 people but think I could have spent this better in a local coffee shop, given the service, quality and quantity of food. We had ham, smoked salmon and cheese sandwiches. All were nothing special - could have made better myself. Not replenished when we asked for more either. We were given one plain and one fruit scone between two of us, although the fruit scone only had one raisin too! A couple of small cakes finished off the afternoon tea, the best were the chocolate macaroons. Nobody asked if we wanted more tea either. We left within about half an hour and wouldn't return even with a voucher.

Visited with friends last month on a Living Social deal. Good value, having sandwiches, a scone, small cakes, coffee and wine for £8 each. However, I certainly would not have been happy paying full price!! Sandwiches seemed to go stale very quickly. Cakes were non-descriptive. Coffee was ok but felt embarrassed having to ask for a second cup. Our friends had a large pot of tea between them with 2 tea bags in. Looked like water when the first cup was poured! Probably would not return even if I had a voucher.

Clearly a good fish and chip shop, given the queue of people waiting to be served! We chose to eat in the small restaurant area at the back. Not long to wait for our fish and chips, which were perfect!

Ok, I frequently visit this venue sometimes more than twice a week and every single time we order drinks the Gin glasses have the remains of the lipstick and grime from the last person's lips from the night before. Today, we ordered a Gin and what do you know, the glass had red lipstick on it, we immediately told the server that the glass had lipstick on it and if we could have a fresh glass perhaps one with no residue off another person on it. She almost snatched the glass off us, cut her eye and walked off in a huff. What she didn't realise is one of our party members went to get a hot drink from the machine which is located close to the bar area where the large server went to exchanged the glass and over heard the large one, moaning and laughing about the fact that we asked for the glass to be exchanged and she was quite frankly trying to take the mick, she wiped the dirty glass with a tissue and started laughing with her colleague, the member of our party that was at the hot drinks machine said excuse me ill take that if you don't mind and the big one almost crapped her knickers not realising she got caught out and she went red faced. Anyway we never finished the drink as who in the right mind would drink from a glass with someone else's germs on it? Would you drink from a glass or eat with cutlery that still has food remains on it from a stranger? That is the most disgusting thing ever! The server girl must think its fine to accept a dirty glass and drink from it, tbf by the looks of her it wouldn't surprise me, I can only imagine what her own home is like or what her hygiene is like. So to round this up, beware of the dirty glasses, also the cutlery is nearly always dirty aswel and we have to either ask for cleaner ones or clean them ourselves, but be prepared to get a dirty look when you call them out about their glasses as most can't be bothered to walk back to the bar and back to the table maybe due to lack of energy and motivation? Perhaps on weekends Wetherspoons can employ staff with some manners, respect, decency and with some enthusiasm, serving with a moody face is not what customers want to see when spending money at an establishment like Wetherspoons, but then again this is not the only Wetherspoons where this kind of staff work. There seems to be a common theme happening recently within this company, oh and the new gourmet burgers are not good at all. The grilled food was much better, Wetherspoons is going backwards with their new menu, shame really. Only thing they have going for them is the price of their drinks, when you get a clean glass that is.
