If I could have given 3.5 stars I would. This place is totally fine. Service is good and food is decent. Nothing to go out of your way to have. If you are in the area it’s not a bad option. I was here during their VE celebrations.

We've found this place by chance. Some of the waiters were Polish and it was a nice surprise, we could get good recommendations. Food was tasty, especially the dessert that looks like flower pot. Nice overall vibe, as it's inside the abbey. However, I feel it was a bit pricey.

This was a last mintue selection as we were visiting The House of Commons for the day and wanted somewhere bright memorable but not with overly expensive for London. This place was light and the staff were attentive, informative and friendly. The dishes were light but healthy and tasty. Upon arrival we noticed a large table of 12 finishing there meal and the staff were very accommodating with couples paying for there meals separately. The menu is limited and the atmosphere bright like the location. The establishment had seating for approximately 35/40 people max. The house Red was reasonable priced as were the lunch time meals. We both had the chicken toasted sandwich with rocket + basil and chips and a carafe of red wine. Total bill came to just over £60 which for London was reasonable as it is only 5 minutes walk from The House of Commons. Please note that they close at 3.30pm on the Friday. The location is on the roof tops with a partial glass roof which allowed for plenty of light to stream in as well as providing a great view of the roof top scenery of church and other historical buildings. Lastly the toilets were clean well lit and in good order

Personal amable, tranquilo. Unbelievably great atmosphere in a vault under Westminster Abbey. Good food and pleasant service. The only thing to complain about is that they have closed the food service between 1115 and 1200. This made it a bit long to wait for food. As long as you remember it, it is a unique experience you remember.

Excellent value for money for London. The food is fresh and fragrant. We had the grilled herb chicken with basil mayo on toast. The fries weren't greasy and the portion was more than adequate. The service was perfect. There was a bit of a wait around 1:20 p.m., but once we were seated, the food arrived in less than fifteen minutes. A plus: you can go there without having to visit the abbey (there's an entrance on the side).

The staff were, with the sole exception of one 'lowly' server, rude and deeply unfriendly. The person who showed us to our table slapped the menus on the table and walked away. This was followed by the next level of staff who was busy looking elsewhere while he took our order, no attempt at friendliness, unless you regard the absolutely awful expression 'you guys', a term I truly despise, as an attempt to connect with paying customers. The scones had the consistency of semi-hard cement, the jam was nice, as was the tea, but they obviously keep a miniature cow, considering the amount allocated to you. Paying the Bill was a drama, it a complicated process involving 3 people and being loudly spoken to in a harsh tone by the Manager, whose high status disallowed her from handling filty money. Ultimately, this is a coffee shop in a basement, hardly high class dining, but considering the attitude of the staff, I suggest that you dress formally if you dare 'dine and whine'.

Stop here before visiting the temple. My companion is a coffee fan, but I thought tea would be good in England, so we both ordered tea. After all, no matter where you drink tea in London, even if it's a cheap brand, the tea is delicious. Soup for starter. It's a very cold day today. Then I ordered gnocchi. I ordered gnocchi for two people, but only one came. However, since it was a large portion, we decided to share it between two people. However, since most of the people visiting the temple are tourists, it would be nice to serve British food. When I came to London, I realized that British food was delicious. The inside of the store has an atmosphere like an underground cave, but it is bright and calming. Next to me, a British man was discussing something academic. I don't know much about British English, but it sounds... Somehow, I can't find the expression, wonderful. Although I am a meher, I admire her.

No debí haberme cambiado.

My first pre Christmas dinner this year! I was still on a high from my visit to the Abbey. It was immensely moving given its depth of history. We made our way to the restaurant which was a trifle convoluted but we got there in the end. I ordered the Turkey with trimmings and Christmas Pud from the 2 course set Christmas Lunch Menu. My friend ordered the sea bream which she thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately my Christmas dinner was very disappointing. It was shocking! I would liken it to a dinner served up to the infirmed or if I were recuperating. Mush over mush over mush! Could not distinguish the pile of grey mush on which my globules of meat were placed. Turned out the globules were thin wafers of turkey wrapped over huge lumps of stuffing. As for the comical looking brussel sprouts, these looked like large peas and were just one cook short of the rest of the mush, barely held their shape and resemblance. A watery gravy trickled down to one side of the plate and stayed there. Honestly I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant Turkey roast! Tasteless, indistinguishable trimmings and wholely unappetising both in taste and appearance. Oh and no sign of a single roast potato! The portion size was huge and I suspect would be filling! My utmost praise will go to the only one thing I enjoyed and that was the soft cream served up with the Christmas pudding. Also a mention to the service, very attentive and prompt. However, the second shock came when we went to the till. An astronomical additional cost was added to the printed price on the menu for a 2 course set Christmas lunch!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 The Cellarium Cafe & Terrace is a true hidden gem in the heart of Westminster, offering a delightful escape with its incredible food, charming atmosphere, and outstanding service. Tucked away within the historic Westminster Abbey precinct, this cafe blends history with modern comfort, making it a perfect spot for brunch, tea, or a relaxing meal. Atmosphere and Setting The setting is absolutely enchanting. The cafe occupies a beautifully restored medieval cellar with high stone ceilings, elegant archways, and soft lighting. The historic charm is complemented by tasteful modern touches, creating a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance. If the weather is pleasant, the terrace is a wonderful option — a peaceful outdoor space where you can enjoy your meal while taking in views of Westminster Abbey. It’s a serene spot to relax away from the bustling city crowds. Brunch Perfection I visited the Cellarium Cafe for brunch, and it exceeded all expectations. The menu offers a delightful range of classic and contemporary options, with something to suit every taste. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and was blown away by the quality. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked, with velvety hollandaise sauce and a crisp English muffin beneath. The bacon was thick and flavorful, adding a lovely smoky note to the dish. My companion had the avocado toast with poached eggs, which was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The portion sizes were generous without being overwhelming, and the ingredients tasted fresh and high-quality. Everything was seasoned to perfection, and the presentation was elegant without being fussy. Delightful Afternoon Tea The Cellarium Cafe is also an excellent spot for a traditional afternoon tea. The selection of finger sandwiches, fresh scones with clotted cream and jam, and delicate pastries was outstanding. The sandwiches — including classics like smoked salmon and cucumber — were light and delicious. The scones were freshly baked, warm, and crumbly, just as they should be. The assortment of pastries was delightful, with each bite offering a burst of flavor and texture. The tea menu is extensive, featuring a range of traditional and specialty blends. The staff were more than happy to offer recommendations, and the tea was served with care and attention to detail. It was a truly relaxing and refined experience, perfect for a leisurely afternoon. Exceptional Service What sets the Cellarium Cafe apart is the excellent service. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. They greeted us with genuine smiles and made sure we were comfortable. Our orders were taken promptly, and the food arrived quickly. The servers were knowledgeable about the menu, offering suggestions and ensuring any dietary requirements were met. They struck the perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness, which added to the overall positive experience. Final Thoughts The Cellarium Cafe & Terrace is a perfect spot for anyone looking to enjoy a quality meal in a unique, historic setting. Whether you’re there for a hearty brunch, a refined afternoon tea, or simply a cup of coffee and a pastry, you can expect excellent food, a charming atmosphere, and stellar service. It offers a wonderful respite in the heart of London, and the combination of history and modern comfort makes it a truly special experience. I cannot recommend this cafe enough. If you’re visiting Westminster Abbey or just exploring the area, make sure to stop by. 5 out of 5 stars for an unforgettable experience!

Never thought any place could get a bacon or sausage sandwich wrong. I was wrong. We were a party of 3, One had the pancakes and it looks amazing, he gave it a 9.4 out of 10. Jealous of him. Other had a bacon sandwich, I had the sausage sandwich. They were edible, but they unnecessarily over toasted the buns, so the buns were crumbling, dry and tasted of charcoal. No butter to help with the dryness. My friend had to send her bacon sandwich back and asked for an untoasted bun, which did only take a couple of minutes. She said it was nicer that way. I braved on and finished mine, like an idiot. The price for 3 light breakfast and 3 hot drinks came to just under £40 (including service charge). They refused to allow us to split the bill insisting on a single payment. The toilet was nice though.

Cellarium is inside Westminster Abbey. We actually wanted the quick bite first before entering the Abbey. The food for the chargrilled chicken with sourdough was great. However, the mint salad has no taste. It is good for vegan, but it gives no taste to your tastebuds. Different style, just not mine. My wife also ordered lamb plate. The lamb was good as well as the quinoa. Again the quinoa is not given salt. Plain is good but a little tiny sprinkle on it would lighten up the spirit. My mom in law order the pan fried Seabeam. It was good as well. Overall only the salad is not good otherwise they will have higher score.

I agree with many (UK?) reviewers.. service IS poor and it IS overpriced but hey, we're not talking about a Soho hot dog stand, here. For many of the punters it's an experience. And imo the flavours are fully present. Even if the portions aren't. I work locally and popped in to check it out. A tenner for lunch is about my limit so got a starter for that price which was the cheapest dish on the menu. It was a salad based thing and I have to say, although I knew it wouldn't fill me up, I did savour the flavours. I even shut my eyes to focus on the tastes as they blended and changed. And I ain't no food critic, I can tell you. I had a glass of tap water and asked for service to be deducted from the bill (added without consent as a matter of course) -as I really did only want to spend a tenner. The host seemed surprised but they shouldn't have; service is not attentive. P'raps they just can't keep up with the turnover of covers. Service was posh/polite but slow. And this IS just a cafe -no tablecloths or owt. You'd be looking at well over a pony for a filling meal.. more like a onner for 2 if you're having coffee and pudding (oh, sorry 'dessert'). The afternoon or cream teas are probably your best bet for value. I must confess.. after I left, I stopped off at Gianni's cafe in Horseferry Rd and got a nice seeded cheese salad roll with mayo. It was as big as me head and cost less than half my salad in this celeriac cafe. Still. That's not apples and apples, is it? My 3 stars represents 'good' overall. I'm just a tightwad. But it IS tasty. I'll up a snap of the menu if I can find it.

Food was good. The eggs are done moist and fluffy (they seem to undercook on purpose and maybe added milk?). The eggs Benedict was good, but served a warm not hot (would be nice if they preheated the plates before serving food). Overall a good place to eat. It’s located inside another building that at first seems like you can’t get to it but they allow you to eat here even if you don’t have tickets to the abbey just have to let them know when security is checking your bags for entry.

Overall I was a little bit disappointed. Booked for afternoon tea with some friends. Outside, we were asked if we had booked as it was apparently very busy, but didn’t appear to be busy at all in the area where we were seated. We then waited a good 40 minutes before any food arrived. I had asked before I booked about options for vegetarians and was assured we were fine. I then mentioned it again when we arrived. Despite this, when the food came it was all mixed together. Fortunately my vegetarian friend was ok with eating food which was next to fish etc (I have other friends who wouldn’t be happy with this). The afternoon tea itself was good, and there was unlimited tea offered - once it came. Despite this, don’t think i’ll be back, was just so slow. Would have given 4 or 5 for the food, but the overall experience let it down.

Museums and attractions in Europe always have very good restaurants, this one included. It is a little pricey for the small portions, since the meals are not that filling but still the food is very fresh and they try to be eco responsible with their choices. We had a variety of dishes including watermelon salad, fig salad and lamb kofta, all of which were good but a little small for the price. There are also no throw away utensils or plates, always a plus for me.

Very disappointed with the portion sizes. I ordered a lamb kofta, which I was excited about, but what I got back was two small pieces of lamb, a bit of couscous and some yogurt... all of that for £17 approx. Ridiculous expensive given it wasn't that great. The atmosphere it was nice but it's a rip-off.

An incredible experience, the service was outstanding and the food super delicious. We’ve starters, main and dessert and wine. Very affordable prices. The presentation of the dishes is Instagram proved 😊. We will definitely come back!

Hidden gem in central London . Inside of Westminster Abbey. There is an entrance in case you already visited the Abbey already. Delicious menu. I went for Vegan mushroom toast and it was delicious

Not only was the food and tea delicious, but the experience is something I'll be talking about to everyone. I recommend visiting the abbey before to build up an appetite. We enjoyed afternoon tea and it was enough to serve as an entire meal for us. We got to try a few different teas and sampled all the sweet and savory items served up beautifully. Dining in the beautiful open terrace and experiencing the ancient grounds was a perfect way to spend the day.

The Cellarium team did us proud today. They found a place for us despite the busy lunchtime period, provided good food at reasonable prices and the staff were very helpful a we had guests from afar. Well done!

Nice cafe which is a cool and welcome retreat from the crowds. Food is lovely. The menu says lunch served from 12, we had pre-booked a table at 11:30 am, as we were attending an event nearby, we had travelled down to London that morning and came here to meet up beforehand. The table is only available for 1 hour. We ordered drinks when we got there and asked 2 different serving staff if we could order from the lunch menu and be served it at 12 (menu says lunch served from 12). They will not take orders for lunch until 12, which meant it was a rush by the time the food was served to leave within an hour.

Pleasant place, attentive staff, wonderfully varied cuisine. Tea with scones did not disappoint, but the fare besides was delightful. Very fairly priced as well.

We came here for a light lunch and a break from walking round. THe service was excellent and it was very pleasant. We both had soup of the day and cheesecake. Delicious.

I went before the lunchtime rush. It's located at the back of Westminster Abbey, and it's accessed via a quiet courtyard. I had a courgette, broccoli, basil gnocchi, which was presented nicely and was delicious. The blueberry compote cheesecake was also very good. The single shot espresso in contrast was a little disappointing. The service was good and they all worked as swift as they could and were attentive enough. A little pricey but no surprise for the location it was in.

Although we were seated immediately we waited over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. People who ordered cream teas and sandwiches were served very quickly and they did look really nice. My soup, however, took a lot longer and was luke warm. I didn’t complain as we had already waited so long. It was the best tasting leek and courgette soup I have ever had and happily it was warmer at the bottom. I can only assume we had been waiting for my husband’s chips as his chicken in sourdough was cold. A shame really as it is a nice place with a good menu.

Good food, but the bread is a test of character. It's the same bread the monks ate in The 13th century. No, no-- I'm not saying it's the same recipe. I'm saying it's the same bread.

As a vegan I ordered a latte with oat milk and vegan breakfast, but she gave me it with dairy milk. She told me when it was brought to the table, but why not make it right anyway, and then actually bring it and tell me? The tofu "scrambled egg" was awful, really liquidy. I paid £24.50 for that breakfast including coffee and orange juice, way overpriced. You're only paying for the location, which was actually nice.

Had breakfast here due to close location to parliament, wasn’t quite what I expected, food was overpriced for what was a bland English breakfast with streaky bacon and child’s portion of everything else and cost £12!! Total bill £20 incl tea and usual opportunistic service charges which seems to be auto applied in certain southern parts of England for no other reason than price gouging.

4 coffees and two cold chewy croissants £29 I feel for the staff as they are untrained in table service. They seemed unable to distinguish one type of coffee from another and hoped we would shuffle them around The croissants were served cold and chewy; no offer of jams or butter. Our overseas guests while polite were amazed at the overall service provision

Nothing special. Afternoon tea was very basic and in my opinion overpriced. The best thing about this cafe is the location. Service was wasn’t the best, no atmosphere and decor was dated.

We were at Westminster and felt a bit hungry so we looked around for a quick meal. When we arrived we were informed that the kitchen would soon be closing for breakfast and that we should make a selection quickly. That wasn't a problem for us. We chose Eggs Benedict and Shakshuka. To be honest, the Benedict was exceptionally delicious. I was so pleasantly surprised that it was actually the best Benedict I've ever had, even though I've tried this dish many times. The juices were also fresh and extremely tasty. The service staff was polite and courteous. And the prices were reasonable for the quality of the food.

Such disappointing service. Had a coffee and cake which was fine but when I requested some hot water one waiter, who walked around chewing gum the whole time ignored us and it took ages for anyone to help. I went up and asked at the desk in the end. It wasn’t busy and there was a lot of staff. It’s a shame as a nice place to sit.

Wasn't overly busy but I was seated with people I didn't know because I was on my own. Took ages to have my order taken. I ordered grilled chicken toasted sandwich which came with chips. It was all cold. Waited ages for the bill and when it didn't come I got up to pay but was told to sit down. The bill was delivered with no explanation so I got up to pay again. Was told again to sit down. Then someone came and took payment. So rude. Food expensive and cold. Very disappointed

Lukasz Perdziak, the GM, is the epitome of professionalism and grace in service. While my parents were visiting London for the first time, I sent them to The Cellarium for Afternoon Tea and Lukasz went above and beyond to ensure that their experience was tip-top. Lukasz, when you're ready to jump from GM to PM, I'm here to run your campaign ;)

There was a 10 minute wait for a table however it was not overcrowded once inside. I ordered the pork chop with potatoes, which tasted nice however the quantity was small for the price. The carrot cake was very good. The service was quite slow and the table service etiquette was slightly lacking. A beautiful and airy room for a coffee.

Our order arrived missing one drink, one meal and with cold friend. Salad was bland and portions small. Quite a long wait for the food. Some vegan options but without any real protein substitutes. Beautiful ambiance.

Practically perfect. Soup 🍲 of the day was vegetable which sounded great on a cold day. However at Cellarium Cafe, this means potato soup and not the American tomato based mixed vegetables soup.

Restaurant very well located at the exit of Westminster Abbey. The room is original with very beautiful vaults. She also had rather large tables. As for the food, the products are good and of high quality. Finally, expect to spend some time in the restaurant.

Ordered at the bar with a waitress who I believe was called Ferian. She was very friendly and attentive, and sure made service smooth and quick. I had the steak&ale pie which was made to perfection. Beer lines must be well taken care of because the beer tasted oh so delicious - had to stay for seconds.
