Celentano's in Glasgow City

This place has been on my list to try for a while but it's a bit out of the way, finally headed over for their Sunday lunch menu and was hugely disappointed. There were some good food points here, the kimchi doughnut and the ox tail starter were both really good, the rest of our menu was fine but nothing amazing. What really let the place down was the service, we arrived bang on time and our table wasn't ready, fair enough they offered to let us sit at the bar with a drink, queue a 20 minute wait where nobody took our drink order. Sadly that would set the theme for the rest of the meal, to be fair we were apologised to by several of the staff when they misplaced our side dish for 10 minutes while we ate our mains, and then again when they completely forgot to take our dessert order because they were either snacking at the bar or cleaning the place down ready to close before we'd even ordered. To add insult to injury it's one of those awful restaurants that adds a 12.5% tip to your bill, if you think your food or service deserves more money increase your prices, don't add undeserved money to a bill knowing people will feel too uncomfortable to ask for it to be removed. Won't be back and wouldn't recommend, very much not worth the money and I'm stumped how they got a Michelin recommendation.

Went for a lunch, the food was all pretty tasty and decent. Service was a bit poor, staff were all friendly enough but lots of things wrong with our order and a few other mistakes/errors as to why I am marking it down. Particularly at this price point cause it’s not cheap. Our table was also quite dirty which put me off. A shame really cause I feel if they polished these rough edges it would be a really fantastic place to eat.

The food was a 10/10 for us. We really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. The service was friendly. Will definitely be coming back. Thanks for making our anniversary dinner special! ⭐️

What a lovely restaurant. Great food, amazing team working there, and a spectacular venue. We were so impressed. This is not your average Italian restaurant, it's an epicurean journey. When a restaurant that has Veuve Clicquot as their house champagne available by the glass, you know it's going to be special.

Went there for lunch and had great food. Some assortment of small snacks to start with where the smoked cod doughnuts with kimchi stood out. Some Linguine with cod cheeks and lobster bisque were tasty and just the right amount of picante. Finally the slow cooked beef was very tender. The service was slightly chaotic as we were a large group but it all sorted itself out in the end. The place is awesome with a slight gothic feel.

Had the fixed price Sunday menu with my friend who eats a Halal diet. On booking I was asked about dietary requirements and ticked the box to advise my friend would need Halal options, but we were advised that none of the desserts were Halal, and the kitchen were unable to accommodate an alternative. I asked about sorbet or ice cream and was told no. My friend also asked for a mocktail and was told one could not be made. The server was not interested in ensuring my friend was accommodated. When I emailed to express my disappointment, I received a response from Anna which told me the staff had been asked and they had told her they did offer alternatives, which is entirely untrue. Though the food is nice, the lack of accommodation for those with religious dietary requirements, and unwillingness to be honest about this unacceptable, and I won’t dine here again.

Superb food and great atmosphere. Really loved it. Will certainly return!

Fantastic food, lovely cocktails, friendly staff and top level service.

We came for my husbands birthday lunch. Food and service were of a great standard, but they made no effort for my husbands birthday, despite me noting this on the booking. It doesn't take much, just an acknowledgement. That's a personal view, otherwise nice experience.

Was in on a Sunday afternoon. The food was good but not exceptional. The service was kind of the same but the small jazz band were a bit intrusive although the atmosphere was otherwiee lifeless

I was looking forward to dinner at Celentano's. I booked the table by telephone a couple of weeks earlier. However, on arrival I was told my booking had been cancelled because I had not confirmed the table reservation. I assumed I had missed an email or text asking for confirmation although this requirement wasn't mentioned when I booked. I've since checked my emails and texts and none were received from Celentano's. We were told we could have a high table on bar stools adjacent to the bar. This was a table for 4 and we would likely have to share with strangers. I couldn't focus on the menu as I was hugely annoyed about having my table reservation cancelled without prior warning. We decided to leave and eat elsewhere. There is clearly a problem with how Celentano's manages their reservation system. A courtesy call to check why I hadn't confirmed would have highlighted that no confirmation request had been issued by the restaurant. Celentano's appears to prefer to simply cancel your booking and ruin your dinner plans.

We had a wonderful family Sunday lunch on a freezing snowy day. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. The set menu offered plenty of choice without being overwhelming. We had to try a couple of the snacks, after our starters, as they looked so intriguing! The food was beautifully cooked and presented, with creative flavour and texture combinations. The desserts were sublime. All in all it was good value for money - £32 per head for 3 courses and sides. The location was perfect for a post-lunch walk round the Necropolis.

Went for dinner for my birthday and was very disappointed. The snacks were all amazing, couldn’t fault them. We ordered the linguine with lobster, bisque and pork xo, there was no lobster in the dish and when we questioned it with our server she went and spoke to the chef and then came back and told us that is was in fact cod cheeks. My partner doesn’t like fish and we ordered this specifically because we both love lobster so we were very disappointed. They have used cod cheeks as they are probably the most similar texture to lobster so it felt like they were trying to just pass it off as lobster and hope no one noticed. The mains that followed this were alright but nothing special, the hogget was tough, underwhelming and the presentation was lacking. We were offered a free dessert because of the pasta, which was a nice gesture but just felt like too little too late. I hope they change their menu description to accurately reflect what is actually in the dish for future customers so no one has the same issue we did. This was our second visit, as I had wanted to try it again after our first time was much the same, but as it had just opened we reduced this to teething problems having a new venue, but we will definitely not be returning in the future.

Stunning food. In every mouthful I felt a different texture and burst of flavour. It is a must visit in Glasgow. Everything is exceptional but only two critiques I have is 1. The drinks were far too pricey. Red wine came in 125 ml and price was crazyyyy. And menu was so hard to read!!! Could print it a bit bigger pls. 2. Service was not outstanding which is ok. I came here for the food and the food did not disappoint but I feel with a venue that serves such incredible food, service could be better. We never had a check back. The menu wasn’t described well by the waiting staff. Will I visit again? YES. But do I think they can improve with service and make menu easier to read, also YES.

This was my second visit to Celentanos for lunch and it was every bit as good as the first time. The food is well made and utterly deliciously and my friend and I were looked after really well. The cod kimchi buns I agree are perfect especially when you've just arrived and sat down hungry, and for me the lobster bisque linguine dish was also a stand out. Thank you for a fabulous afternoon out.

Found the monkfish very bland (as if it had just been boiled in water, with no seasoning). Wasn’t a fan of the cut of beef and found the sauce too sweet. Pretty expensive also.

An Italian restaurant with a fancy twist. Menu well thought out and very tasty. Cocktails great too.

Sadly we won't be returning. Almost everything we ate was great, however completely ruined by being forced out. After arriving 5 minutes early and ordering on time we were told our departure time by a member of staff mid meal and then force dropped our bill during dessert, before our allocated time on my email reservation. 1 hour 45 mins is already not enough time for a leisurely lunch but to cut this short.... Having worked in hospitality for years I was shocked. The staff didn't know but this was for my mums 70th, we didn't want to make a fuss so had to leave and head to a coffee shop.

My boyfriend booked this restaurant whilst on a mini break in Glasgow. At first, I was unsure why he booked it, but I'm glad he did. The food was superb. The doughnut and kimchi small plate was my favourite dish. Sexy restaurant, great for dates and excellent service. Would recommend!

Celentano's has really come of age compared to my visit two years ago. A sublime Agnolotti dish was followed by an exceptionally good elderflower sorbet. But everything was good.

Absolutely loved this place! The service was incredible, so friendly and quick. The food was beyond delicious! Perfect for a date night.

Went for dinner with a friend tonight and we did not like it one bit! We got sat down, place was cute but once our server came over to take the order, we had picked a main each but we felt under pressure to pick more items, we did not ask for any recommendations or anything yet our server was insisting we get more. The food was meh, not worth the money. Very disappointed as we still felt hungry when we left and they didn’t even bother asking what was wrong with the food. Also our server kept insisting us to buy alcohol but we said once we don’t drink and he kept going on about it, wasn’t funny! Overall not the best trip and will deffos not be going back!

This is the review of a real Italian you were looking for. The place and the staff are really nice. The food is nice too but it’s not Italian. It Is Scottish people trying to replicate Italian food. I would recommend this place but if you’re looking for a real Italian place this is not the one

Food excellent. Service very mixed; one member of staff was rude and discourteous (clearly someone was having a bad day) whilst the other was polite and engaging. The room was nice enough but I was conscious the room doubled as the pasta making room.

A lovely first visit. Food was excellent and service first class. Definitely give it a try for something different and fantastic

Took a long time for the meal to arrive (40 mins) we had the Hoggit.....which I found extremely fatty and not a lot of meat. The staff were very nice and helpful.

One the best restaurants in Glasgow. Food and drinks never disappoint - very much a fine dining experience with a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The team as always very friendly and informative if you have questions about the menu, drinks or the area in general. My favourites from the current menu are the lasagne fritte, cod linguine and the affogato

Went with friends for lunch. Food very underwhelming with pasta that looked like it had been sitting tasting really heavy and oily with v little crab for £18. Quite a bit of chasing for missing bites, more water, wine and then hit with a compulsory 12.5% service charge. Worked out £60 each for a small bowl of tastless pasta, a few sad bites, bread and oil and house wine. Better places to go I think.

Wonderful place to visit while in Glasgow. The food was superb as was the service.

I ordered Halibut and there was none. I selected John Dory as an alternative. The worst fish I have ever been served. It was overcooked, dry and appeared to have been sitting on a hotplate for a week. I should have sent it back, however I am diabetic and I had taken my insulin so needed to eat. I informed the waitress that I thought the fish was dreadful hoping that I would receive some feedback, unfortunately no one had the courtesy to speak to me. We spoke to the manageress as we left, who informed us that she was unaware of my initial complaint. I appreciate people (chefs) can have bad days. But please respond to a complaint. I dined here on a family recommendation. I will never be back.

Food portion just nice for small eater. Customer service was good. Buckwheat cake is nice.

Amazing food and great wine. Have eaten from both the main menu (not too pricey) and the feasting menu (expensive at £48pp but super tasty). They also do excellent bread, potato 'strati' and an unusual affogato for dessert. Our visits have been more enjoyable and considerably cheaper than a recent 3-Michelin star birthday meal in London…

Really doesn't get the credit it deserves. If you are looking for fine Italian dining in Glasgow. Look no further. Food was amazing. Service was excellent. Would highly recommend. The halibut was perfect and the buckwheat cake was one of the nicest deserts I've ever had in an Italian restaurant.

Very busy when we visited on a Saturday night and as a result our drinks were slow at arriving. Other than that the food was excellent, service and staff great. Not overly convinced about the decor but that is very much a personal choice. We had a lovely time with no time pressure and look forward to returning.

Such a delicious meal and great value for its price! If I was hungrier I definitely would have sprung for the prix fixe meal.

Menu imposé. Vins bizarres. Service particulier. Goûts étonnants. On se croirait sur une autre planète. Ou sont-ils allés chercher la recommandation Michelin ?? Franchement une entrée... a partager à 2. Une entrecôte à partager... a 5. Un dessert tellement revisité qu'il n'en méritait plus son nom. Des tables collantes pcq mal nettoyées. Un service amateur. Bref une insulte à la gastronomie et à l'Italie ie. Et un prix complement demusuré. La seule adresse ou l'on nous a encore ajouté 12.5% de service !

Surtout n'y allez pas! Serveur qui a les ongles tout noir, le tablier du cuisinier est plus sale que la salopette d'un mécano des années 30, boite de rangement en plastique qui traînent à droite et à gauche. En plus d'une humeur massacrante, pas de choix de plat, vin du patron à 43£ le pichet de 0.75 l Viande "maturee" qui sent le pourri....addition à 180€ pour 2.....bref n'y allez pas

We had Sunday lunch at Celentano’s and it more than lived up to the hype. The staff were super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. This is high end but without any pretentiousness. The food was all delicious. We shared a bottle of Pecorino which was beautiful. There was a cocktail on the specials board above the bar that sounded too good to pass up and it was stunning. Look at the photos, read the menu and just book it. You only live once. It’s pricey yes, but it’s worth every penny.

Food was not good value for money. It seemed that they are trying too hard to be fine dining but just don't quite pull it off. Expensive for what it is.

I enjoyed a solo lunch here - the food was delicious and the service was incredible. If you are looking for a spot close to the cathedral, you can't go wrong!

Was perfectly pleasant but didn't make me want to rush back or recommend to friends. Menu options did not grab my attention or inspire me to want to return, and fish options all seemed very similar.

Went for the tasting menu, one out of the courses we're very good the rest where incredibly underwhelming especially for the price. The bone marrow pasta was fantastic, but the rest were not very tasty, and we're about as Italian as irn bru. Would not recommend going

We went on a Sunday and came to know they only do set menus. The menu turned out nice, the veg pasta was hot & fresh, however our starters were cold. It’s a classy place for a long afternoon brunch.

Nice food, great ambience and service! Recommend if you visit Glasgow Cathedral and Necropolis!

What an absolute hidden gem of a restaurant. I had no idea what to expect, but honestly, it was just amazing. The food is superb, a real twist on Italian food, the staff are super friendly and really helpful and the restaurant is lovely. We'll definitely be back.

One of my favourite restaurants in Glasgow. Whether it's for a special occasion or some nibbles and a glass of wine in the sun, they've got you covered. Always excellent food and great drinks too!

Great experience me and boyfriend has a meal here this evening and it was just perfect. Great service lots of options on the menu, as we aren’t so keen on fish there was a lot to go at. They had non alcoholic drink options that wasn’t just cola which is always lovely. We had: Three mini snacks - the lasagne bites I would 100% recommend (had them twice, so good). Cauliflower antipasti which was brilliant very light great seasoning. Then two pasta dishes which were incredible and my boyfriend had the pork secondi. Honestly overall the dishes were perfect great level of service and really beautiful venue.

The food was delicious, but small portions. Not very good value for money They recommended 4 snacks then a starter, pasta, main, and desert. We only got 4 snacks, one starter, my mum had a pasta main and I had a salmon fillet. She then had the cheeseboard and I had the affogato. One small glass of white wine and an alcohol free cocktail and it was £110. I don't mind paying a lot of money for food, have been to several two and three Michelin star places. But Celentano's felt in-between high end and casual dining, couldn't really have a blow out but wasn't fascinated by the food in the way you get at places I've been to recently like L'Enclume or Inver. I didn't feel satisfied when I came home and had to eat something else. I can't fault the food quality though - it was absolutely delicious. Just don't expect a full feed and watering unless you're willing to drop about 80 a head

Best meal in Glasgow all year 👍

We arrived at 11.55 for a midday booking and the door was still locked. After a couple of minutes the door was opened for a man delivering a small box. The door was then locked in our faces. Shortly afterwards the door was unlocked for the man to leave and less than one minute before midday the door was again locked in our faces and we again were left out in the rain. We were admitted about two minutes later. The girl who served us was excellent and the food was a little unusual but quite good, if expensive. Would we return? Not with that welcome!

If I could give this restaurant 1 star then I would. The customer service was shocking from the manager.

Four of us visited Celentano’s to celebrate a birthday. Two of us had been before and thoroughly recommended it. Spicy Margs were great, food was fabulous, service was very attentive without being intrusive. We were well aware on booking we only had the table for a limited time however after the main course the menu was presented to us asking if we’d like dessert but reminding us we only had 20 minutes left. We still had a bottle of wine to finish and as we didn’t want a dessert we asked if we could move to the bar area to finish the drinks but was advised there was no space available. We asked to speak to the manager who managed to accommodate us on the top floor. There was a great vibe, we finished our drinks paid the £315 bill and left. We appreciate we had our table for limited time but feel it’s important for management to reassess time allocated in order to experience the full menu. The table next to us were also asked to leave their table immediately after finishing their main course. As much as we enjoyed the restaurant and our request was eventually resolved, we would not return.

The meat was amazing all the other little pieces okay was expecting more, really disappointed! ( should wait till everyone leaves before vacuuming the floor's) the experience didn't match the bill

Food was delicious and service fantastic. Loved the tableware and glassware. Very nice relaxed atmosphere. Excellent gluten free options also. Would definitely recommend and hope to return soon.

Wanted to try this place for a while and decided to go on mine and my partners anniversary. We got the tasting menu, which was very limited in its choice with only the starters having more than one option (two in total). We also ordered some snacks and two drinks, asking our waiter if these could come out before the food, they did not. The drinks arrived, followed by the snacks a few minutes later, then our first course 2 minutes later. We felt rushed to finish the drinks and snacks, which is not what you want when you go out. The courses on the tasting menu was delicious, the only issue I had was with the meat course, where we only got a few slivers of beef and a large block of fried potato. All in all the food was nice enough, nothing special in my opinion. The service was excellent though, something which is hard to get these days. I had a nice time at the restaurant, but I would not go back solely for the food.

Third time here last night with some visiting friends from London. Absolutely superb meal couldn’t fault a single thing. A huge shoutout to our waiter Guy, he took care of us all night. Thanks for an amazing evening, although a bit of a sore head due to far too many negronis, but they tasted too good!

Never had Italian food like it, its certainly not traditional. A real treat. Service was as good as the food. Highly recommended.

Went on a Saturday for dinner as a group of 4! From start to end, the service was great, and the food was amazing. Ordered all 3 pasta dishes and they were fantastic. Portions for the meat dishes were slightly smaller than I would have liked for the price but they were good nonetheless. Spent £40 ish per head with cocktails ordered per person and no dessert.

Expensive for the quality and quantity. The note « vegetarian option available » next to the potato strati is very misleading.

Just popped by for drinks. Service and cocktail was awesome. Definitely will be back for some food next time!

The best Italian food I’ve ever had

Brought us a drink, then nothing 🥺 left alone in the beer garden whilst busy tending to a family. Would've eaten, but ignored. Wanted to leave without paying but had to go in to do so

Good quality but high price for low quantity. Fish/meat plates need a side included otherwise it will not be enough. I would recommend the pasta.

An amazing experience and we can’t wait to take our families next time. The service was exceptional for such a busy vibrant restaurant with amazing attention to detail and the staff have a genuine passion for helping customers enjoy their dining experience. We had the set menu as we wanted to relax and try a mix of different courses, we were pleasantly surprised with the quality and cooking of our food. The beef was the highlight of the meal, closely followed by the affagato dessert which was an amazing end to the dinner. The cocktail menu was excellent, I would definitely recommend the breakfast martini and the spicy margaritas. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough and I’m looking forward to our next visit.

Lovely restaurant with truly delicious food

We had lunch in this restaurant with limited time [about 1 1/2 hours ] as mentioned during our reservation by the manager, Susan.With this in mind, we started ordering our drinks and food. Sad to say the food and drinks were served late. As a result ,at the expired time, we were told to leave our seats by the Manager, Susan. We thought this was rather a strange behaviour by her, since as paying customers , were not given the common courtesy of a polite reminder of the time limit. Anyway not worth going to this restaurant again. They seem to have an attitude problem.

Heart and love goes into each dish. This is a true gem a surprising, greatly flavored Italian kitchen. The restaurant staff is super attentive and very very effective.

One of the BEST places I’ve tried in Scotland by far! Staff was so friendly, super helpful, the most aesthetically pleasing restaurant I’ve been to in a while. Food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! right size and perfect portions. Stand up ovation for their Celentano’s Mary (would recommend spice level 8)

Excellant service and good tasty food . Nice clean atmosphere . Only complaint was dessert choice was a bit sparse although the desserts that we had were delicious . Highly reccomend the dexter beef !

Hotel is lovely, staff are fab. Food wasn't to our taste and a little pricey for what it was.

Stopped in for a beer, while the cathedral was closed for lunch. Four courses later we finally left. Salads and bread to start, pastas for 2nd course, we split the monkfish entree and followed it withScottish strawberries for dessert. Couple of glasses of wine each. Everything was fantastic, correctly seasoned, and superbly prepared. My wife said one of the best eats she has ever had, and I concur. Will go back in a heartbeat if we can find time. Thanks.

We dined upstairs and loved the vibe and atmosphere. We chose the chef's menu and it was a great selection. Not too much food and the right amount of variety you would expect. Great service as well! Didn't realize where they got their name until looking at my pics after we left (see photo).
