CBK Fish Bar in Newport

I have been looking for a new fish and chips shop and I have found this one. Unfortunately looking at some of the reviews (good and bad) I feel very put off giving this place a chance. This is because of the low level of professionalism from the shop when responding to a customer complaint. I understand that customers are not always right but the response from the owner has a fowl attitude which makes me believe the level of standards I would expect would not be on existence upon my arrival. Maybe if the shop owner had a more friendly approach towards such negative views, I may consider buying.

Absolutely brilliant food. The atmosphere, food but most importantly the service was top tier. As I was ordering the food the man dealing with it was extremely cooperative and while talking to him I felt safe like a guardian angel had been watching over me 😅😅😅 Ignore any bad review as they’re likely fake, and for anyone that has a bad complaint, you went to the wrong place!!

In response to your response on my review... Google is here to provide accurate reviews by the customers personal experience. Whilst I can appreciate most customers have good reviews 👍. My review on the other hand is valid and true,I have to need to give a false one and I don't appreciate you saying the food was fine as my experience with you today was not . The curry sauce was extremely salty also and there isnt salt added to that is there and the food quality was poor . The delivery time took 45 minutes and I'm not the delivery driver so I don't no how long the food was in the car . It was not in a thermal bag . I can assure you the food was cold and I wont be ordering again ...

Brilliant, 2 large cod and chips £22 lovely tasting

Food was all good & cooked fresh. Only downfall is the tomato sauce was very vinegary.

The interior of the chip shop is kept very clean, and the family owning the place are very friendly and helpful. Waiting time for the food was quite quick and the fish and chips were freshly made. The food itself was extremely delicious, the fish was juicy and the batter was crunchy, and the chips were thick and fluffy. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good fish and chips.

Don't go here, save your money and go somewhere else. The chips were black and dried up, the fish was all batter and not much fish, any fish that was there was like cardboard. The staff were rude, I've seen better manners from the druggies in the town centre. Avoid at all cost.

Not a usual good quality. Chicken breast was cold and pink in the middle, had to cook it in air fryer to make it safe to eat.

Unfortunately the food was well below expectations, chips poor, hard dried out, more like the scrumps of old. Ordered cheese beans and chips and only got beans and scrumps. Lastly, the sausages are very poor quality, more ceareal than meat. Will not be returning sorry.

For an order that comprised of chips, sausage in batter & curry sauce, 85% of it ended in food recycling bin, chips were dry & hard! won't be using again!!!

You have misunderstood the complaint so I will explain it then you will understand how wrong your standpoint is. We have had 5 deliveries this year from your takeaway, totalling £114. We always pay for services delivered. Your driver arrived after the allotted time then wasn't sure if he reached the correct house so he returned to his car and drove elsewhere before I could call him back. I would have thought looking at the house numbers on our neighbours properties would have shown he was at the correct property. My wife phoned you and said the delivery was late so we no longer wanted it as the food would have cooled. After you spoke to my wife - at length! - and with your driver, he returned and delivered the food, approximately 15 minutes later. You were still insisting on us taking your (now cold) food. We took it. Cold fish and chips...we binned it. Then you sent your driver back to pick it up, knowing we had taken it! You have accused us of taking food with no intention of paying (which you know is a LIE), yet you took our money fully aware the product delivered was not what we asked for, should I say something (that is TRUE) in return? In summary. We wanted our money back BEFORE your driver delivered it because it would have been cold. You argued with a customer who was legitimately unhappy which makes me think it was a delaying tactic so you could say the order was delivered. We took the cold food knowing that taking it would mean you would keep our money. I would have thought that after taking 5 orders from us this year would mean you know where our house is. I am certain all your customers would agree that delivering cold food when we wanted hot food would make a reasonable refund request. You made the accusation that we ordered the food with no intention of paying. That is insulting and a COMPLETE LIE! I will not let this go without responding and demand you retract your statement. We will not order from you again and hopefully this post will make others think twice. Last point, your comment that we can't leave a bad review is wrong. If a customer is unhappy then it is within their rights to express their opinion, backing it up with reason(s). It is illegal to leave a libellous review, I have written the truth, but you have sailed close to the wind by accusing us of ordering with no intention of paying. WE PAID FOR COLD FISH AND CHIPS.

I have purchased 5 times from you this year and always paid (as I have always paid every other restaurant I use on Just Eat) and never had to complain until I actually spoke directly to whoever answered and discovered how rude a person can be. 3.5 would be more fair. Brilliant job taking over from Tony. Beautiful chips but savwloy was terrible. Fish bites beautiful, battered sos beautiful, and pies to die for ( after a recent visit iv upgrade to a 5 as the food was faultless

Very disappointed with our order. We ordered a large fish between two adults and it was tiny. There was hardly any fish just mainly batter. Food delivery was early which we liked, chips were nice but even the jumbo sausage wasn’t that big. We won’t be ordering from here again.

Friendly staff but food very poor. Average chips and very grisly battered sausage. Had to throw half of it away so a waste of money really.

Solid and dependable chip shop with decent food, decent costs, freindly staff, and open until 10PM most days. Delivery tends to be pretty cheap if you need it.

Ordered large cod & chips here today with Irish curry, gravy and mushy peas and I had to give it 5 stars, they do a hearty size portion of chips, a proper piece of cod and huge sauces/peas. I was even more impressed by the quality of the food, I know I'll be back. 5/5

Really great food! We were looking for a new place to try as we are new to the area, we will definitely come back. Cod bites are so tasty and beautifully cooked. Large portion size and great value for money. Kind staff and nice atmosphere inside the place too.

Lovely chippy, just maybe would have liked a crunchier fish batter. Irish curry sauce is a nice slightly tangy alternative to the norm. It was very early so bear that in mind. I'd definitely use again.
