The worst restaurant I have ever been, I would say manager should be fired straight away as he does not have a manner and any respect towards his customers. I would never ever recommend to anyone be away better eat in street. I been with my friend to have a catch up after longtime. Since we sat waitress was pushing us to place the order, we did starter and main they brought both together with 8 minutes of sitting and it past only 15 minutes and they came 4 times to ask me if I had finished and at one point they took my bowl with food, when I told them I haven't finished yet they put back my bowl and then Manager came with bill saying if I leave within 15 minutes they will scrap my service charge. I felt humiliation and felt being forced to get out of restaurants just because they had long waiting queue and they wanted more money from more people. I'm am sorry to say I paid £68 for 2 people I wanted to enjoy my time and food, I don't want to be disturbed it is not fast food and you are charging heavy price and not cheap as fastfood street food. I was with my friend so I didn't wanted to make a scene and I paid and left, then we moved to next door cafe to have our catch up. If I wasn't with my friend, I wouldn't have paid a single penny and I would have made a scene there to all the customers to watch to see what bad manners manager is there.

The restaurant interiors are not that great, it feels like a fast food chain. I would normally not have an issue with this but the prices they charge should not be as high as they are. I ordered the imperial spring rolls and pho - my pho was average (poor quality meat) and my spring rolls were really nice. The service was very quick. I spent £30 on 2 items so honestly I’d go somewhere else where you can get more for your money.

Food is tasty. Always order the pho. I just usually order delivery because the hygiene and cleanliness of the establishment is a bit disturbing at times. Got a pretty bad case of stomach flu or food poisoning the same evening last time I dined here which I haven’t gotten since the food stalls in Asian night markets over 30 years ago. Could have been a number of sources, including the tap water or the really dirty seat cushions near the back.

ANNOYING AUTOMATIC SERVICE CHARGE! Comfortable and pleasant place. Tables are a little densely packed, but not terribly. Food is authentic and tasty. Varied menu. Frustrating automatic service charge.

The food was delicious, loved the atmosphere and the service was good. Only thing that could make it better would be if any of the meatless pho options were cooked in a veggie broth rather than chicken/beef. But there are other vegetarian options and I’ll definitely come back!

Came here for a quick and spontaneous dinner with a friend. We were given a table quickly and our order was taken shortly after. We shared a summer roll, which was very fresh and tasty. I had the lukewarm boodle bowl, which was very flavoursome but also quite oily. It was fresh and delicious but didn't seem to be the healthiest version. We also smelled leaving the restaurant of fried food and oil. I would come here for a quick meal but it doesn't have a particular nice or romantic vibe and but the food seems fresh and tasty

Really tasty food, a bit on the spenny side but appreciate it’s in the heart of soho.

Went there for my bday party of 4 people. Food was nice, HUGE portion (really important) and authentic as well. Nothing much to comment, just it’s quite noisy since the restaurant was a bit small and full. Nevertheless a good Viet food option in London if you can afford it :) Recommend: cơm sườn, bún bò huế, bún chả Hà Nội, rolls

I chose this restaurant for my moms Mother’s Day. The entire family was very surprised by it tbh, even me. Staff are so friendly I don’t think I have seen such nice customer service and the food taste really good. Presentation is amazing too. I only wish they didn’t sit us by the door, next time I’ll request a table further away from the door. We did have a reservation so it would have been nice if they saved our table at the back away from the cold. Other than that I was very happy with it, the portion sizes are generous, the food is amazing and the staff are friendly and so efficient. As soon as ur plate is empty it’s already off the table !😂 amazing!

Food is consistently decent quality. Portions have definitely shrunk by a fair bit. Yet another restaurant I'll likely swerve in future. Pity. It had been a regular of mine for some time.

We came here specifically for the Banh Cuon, which was very good. The pho is okay, service is also okay.

We ordered the garlic pho and vegetarian buddha bowl. For the pho, the broth was really tasty and there were bits of garlic in it (wish there was more garlic and more bean sprouts and herbs!) There was a good portion of noodles in the pho but not the buddha bowl and you can still feel hungry. The spring rolls were really crispy and delicious! It was very busy and really noisy. Tables are packed quite closely to each other, and the restaurant is long and narrow, meaning there can be a lot of foot traffic from staff and other diners. It can be difficult to hear each other speak. The restaurant decor has alot.of beautiful lanterns. I think the staff are incredibly busy and tired, so we did not get much service and had to work to get their attention and wait for them to serve multiple diners before getting to us. (Also serving other people whilst taking our orders, and whilst paying the bill). So I felt 13% service charge was a bit steep.

Salad is little bit sweet! Beef soup is really good

Best pho I’ve had in London and the spring roll appetizer was exceptional as well. Recommend the cay tre special, which is a satay based pho and nice and spicy. Service could have been a little better and we were rushed off our table after 1h15m for the next booking, which wasn’t ideal given we had made a reservation and weren’t told this when reserving the table.

Food is insane! The restaurant is very vibey had very nice ambiance. Love the viet music. Took my friend there and now we have a Cay Tre Soho cult of regulars. Love your work✋✋😩😩❤️❤️💋💋😗🥹😙☺️

I used to live in a flat over the Cay Tre back in the mid 2000s. I ate everything on the menu many times over and it was a ritual for my friends and I to have a healthy meal there before or after a night out. I moved away a few years later and in 2024 found myself back there, for a trip down (culinary) memory lane. The food was great as ever. Still for me a bar above the competition (and if you live in the area you'll know the debate over which Vietnamese restaurant is ever present). Some of the classic meals were still there with more current tweaks also present (a full page of pho for example). What it lacked in the mid 2000s however was a friendly touch. The food was of course hot but the reception.. was a little cold. And to be fair as a super busy restaurant in a small space with a relentless turnover of diners, it can't be the easiest place to work! The staff this time however were friendly and accommodating. The manager, a very affable welcoming guy explained that it was his mission to bring a warmer touch to the place, no doubt reflected in the warm low lighting that contrasted with the more stark approach present the last time I'd been there. They even shouted us a round of drinks for helping out some fellow diners. Good vibes, good food. And still going strong, I think it's fair to say he has succeeded in his mission.

The reception people need to be more friendly face to customers I will say , the food is good , the portion is right , 13% service charge for a noodles bar I personally think is a bit too much . The extra sauces on the table is very detail . I like that , the soup of pho is very delicious, but why bean sprouts is cooked ?? Should be fresh for us to add in the hot soup which will be crunchy texture . Overall is fine .

Probably one of the worst meals i’ve eaten, asked the waiter for their recommended, after being recommended the rice&pork bowl and the waiter expressing its a “favourite”… it was not a favourite. It was disgusting, the pork overdone, the dish bland. This was not a cheap meal, and i’ve been left unbelievably disappointed with this meal and service .

Pho here is so far the best. However, not consistently.

Com tam is good Banh cuon is just so so, they said that banh cuon is really good but as an original Viet, I thibk they can do much better. Bun bo Hue is absolutely a must try I would suggest that you guys all have shared dishes

So unhygienic!!!! 🤮 I would have given 5 stars 🌟 for this place if I hadn't seen the staff who served us went to blow her nose with tons of mucus on the napkin and right after she went to grab a water bottle with her unwashed and unsanitised hands and gave it to a table and then served us food with those hands. So disgusting! Food is good and authentic but could do with some hygiene training.

Took my family here (my parents are both Vietnamese) and we LOVED every dish. Really authentic Vietnamese food, one of the best Vietnamese restaurants we’ve been to!

Today 6/1 at 2PM we were served by a super RUDE lady. She pointed finger at us and talked to us with extremely impolite language and attitude several times. She didn't have a bad day, she had a bad ATTITUDE!! Used to love this restaurant but will NEVER come back. Do something with the recruitment please! As a Vietnamese, I'm disgusted by this.

Great food and location, with quite an extensive menu to choose from. The restaurant can be quite busy, which can detract from the service and the atmosphere. Otherwise, it was a good place to visit if you're looking for Viet food in London.

Soho brunch is much better than Shoreditch one. You need to make reservation in advance. The space is quite narrow and crowd. The food is tasty but a little pricy. I like the signature noodle soup but it is £18. I also like the steamed rice sheet with minced pork. This one is not available at Shoreditch brunch and also the service is not that good over there.

Wonderful service from many waiters. The restaurant was clean and very pretty. The rainbow rolls were absoueltey amazing.

Terrible staff , so rude and unprofessional. Staff Louise ask if clients on waiting list can go ‘for a walk’ in the cold as an option* as he first claimed. (even though when there’s no other people queuing. ) When clients said they prefer to stay in and wait , he said that’s not an option and force clients to leave. Meanwhile at the same time, a Vietnam family are allowed to stay in for 15min before they get their table ‘setup’. Never going back.

The staff are rude and unwelcoming. You don’t have to go there to pay these people. No respect and service at all.

Undoubtedly authentic, this pho establishment surpasses chain restaurants in both the taste of its broth and the texture of its rice noodles. While the summer rolls are relatively standard—a safe pick that won't disappoint—their quality is still superior. Despite the crowded atmosphere, the service remains swift. The only drawback is that, compared to chain Vietnamese pho establishments, the prices are noticeably higher.

叫左一個湯粉同一個冷麵，兩碗麵有服務費埋單£38，價錢貴，但最大問題係食物難食！芽菜係已經變啡色霉曬、味精湯、啲肉整到燶晒變黑都照俾客食，真係唔會再去。極之不推薦

The pho was very good. Their house special option was a bit weird because it had boiled cucumber and mango inside, and most of the meat was in the form of meatballs. However, the broth was very rich, with distinctive peanut flavour. This version of pho was actually something in between of ramen and pho and I really liked it. The set of Vietnamese rolls for the starters was good. The staff was okay. The place inside was a bit dirty (seats, tables etc), so if you are looking for something really fancy then I would recommend looking elsewhere but if you are mostly interested in food then this place might be a good option

Still though, fast service, plenty of meat in the Saigon and Chicken Pho. Can't wait to go back! -------------------🍜 I got the Original Pho and the broth was absolutely delicious. Very (temperature) hot too which is perfect. Noodles, a fantastic amount and texture. Could have had a bit more than a few pieces of meat but this is the best Pho I have had outside of Vietnam and the Vietnamese in Melbourne. Waitresses and decor and atmosphere were all so lovely. £15.50 for that huge bowl. 😋

Get the beef pho because the broth is so good! My favourite dishes are the banh uot, banh cuon, betal leaf wrap and Hanoi BBQ pork vermicelli bowl.

The seafood dish on the hot plate was nice. However the star of the show was the delcious beef salad? The vinegarette in the dish was amazing, the beef was tender. Recommend it highly

Second visit this restaurant the quality of services was rude not very friendly and welcoming . Set menu price was not the same on website. Will not return again for sure .

Visited Cay Tre for some Vietnamese food. It was very busy but we didn’t have to wait too long for a table. love pho and the broth here was delicious. But unfortunately the beef in the pho was like shoe leather and completely inedible.

The best Vietnamese food I’ve had and I’ve tried so many different places in London!! Recommend the special pho and chicken. Also fried rice. Pricier than other Vietnamese places but u get what u pay for!! So amazing

The foods (Pho and veg spring rolls) are terrible. We used to go there a couple of times but this time we really had a bad experience. The foods were undercooked and its taste and quality weren’t like the last couple of times that we had. really disappointed with the price and quality. the spring rolls sauce isn’t the same and pho broth is different (really watery this time) 😞😞😞😞

Pho was solid, better than average

Half an hr to wait for one dish. There are a lot of empty tables and when the wait is too long, I asked to eat there for 1 person only and was refused. One of the waitresses with black shirt serving at 8pm shift on Nov 13th was showing bad attitude. Told me she had told me 20mins when in fact she nv mentioned anything.

Busy restaurant in a busy part of London. Service was accommodating (allowed walk-ins) without being rushed, although we did eventually have to get nudged out because of reservations after enough (fair enough). Food is a visual delight. On balance, the fold is good but not outstanding (Personally my Vermicilli was a little bit cold) while the vibe is great and the dishes do have a variety that makes the restaurant worth trying if you’re in the area and need a quick, solid option.

Food is great worth the money for large portions. Restaurant is constantly busy and still service is quick and efficient.

Portion sizes were small for the prices and flavours were average. Service was prompt and the atmosphere was warm but overall an underwhelming experience. I probably will not return given the abundance of other options in the city.

I’ve tried a ton of Vietnamese restaurants in the Uk, and I think this place here at Cay Tre is definitely the most authentic. As a viet myself, I know what I’m talking about. The pho is so tasty, the broth is very authentic. Everything I’ve ordered here has always been good, so I keep coming back! Service is great too - very prompt.

As a Vietnamese person, I highly recommend this restaurant!! This is authentic and man everything I ate was delicious. I am not easily impressed but the banh cuon had the thinnest wrapped and perfect chewy texture. They don't skimp on the pork filling or veggies either. Nuoc cham dipping sauce was not too sour or fishy and complimented the dish well. The original pho was incredible. Thick wide banh pho noodles with deep, rich, clear broth was surprisingly one of the best I've ever had. I wasn't even that hungry but I ate every bite of it. The place was pretty full so I would make reservations if you can!!

A Vietnamese friend recommended this restaurant to us and it was a fantastic recommendation. Excellent service , delicious food , atmospheric and great Value . We loved everything and it was a delight to our tastebuds ! Thank you so much and we hope to see you in the future !

I am a Vietnamese and I have to say this is the most authentic Pho you can get in central London in my view. The quality has been consistently delivered for many years. You have to book in advance but it’s worth the effort.

This is hands down the best Vietnamese rice noodles I've ever tasted! Priced reasonably, I opted for the traditional Pho, packed with various beef cuts in a hearty portion. The rice noodles in this bowl stand out, devoid of any powdery texture, owing to its fresh ingredients and specially curated soup base. The pork vermicelli boasts an excellent consistency and is enriched with freshly minced meat. The fried chicken wings are unique in flavor, striking the right balance between saltiness and crispiness. Don't miss out on the Vietnamese coffee or their other beverages; they're a class apart from the overly sweet ones you find elsewhere. Despite the bustling environment and slightly tight seating, the service was commendably swift.

Possibly the best phô in London! Had their original phô (£15) on my first and second visit. The broth is simply perfect —light, aromatic, earthy and herby, topped with tender beef slices. Their service was excellent on my first visit on a weekend - friendly staff and quick serving time; however not so much on my second visit on a weekday. Otherwise, taste-wise —the epitome of a great phô!

Two weeks ago, I went again, reminding that Aubergine I want was with dark soya sauce, result: taste acceptable. I come again this week, thinking the same dark.soya sauce one will remain, however, what the same was that sour one. However, the beef brisket pho that the manager strongly discouraged me to order (due to the fat) was a delight in surprise. Despite her disencouragement, I still took this pho. The team did not look at me the whole time, worrying that I will complain. I want to give them some praise ! They really cannot read customer:'s mind. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ I did not like the aubergine dish (it was too sour for me). Both the manager and waiter knew that was what I want, but she only came to tell me I.could have changed after I tasted it next time. She should have told me this when I tasted it. Now that I paid nearly £15 for something I did not like ! Both the manager and waiter looked at me as soon as they brought the dish, immediately they both knew it was not what I want but did not raise the question then, only after I ask for the bill, I did describe what I want before hand.

If you're looking forward to Vietnamese try this place. The egg fried rice was especially lovely. The best time to go is between 11and 2 pm. As you generally don't have to reserve a table in advance.

Ridiculously small portions of food. E.g.stewed pork. 4 morsels only. Even the seafood platter. The papaya salad was nice.

This is one of best cousins I ever had. Already try vietnam restaurant around the world, it really make me surprised how good they are. Please come and enjoy.

I came here after looking high and low for tapioca dumplings, so when I saw these on the menu, I knew I had to come! I was not disappointed - The food was excellent, especially the Bo Kho which is a real comfort food for me. The tapioca dumplings also scratched my craving itch in a good way. I would highly recommend!
