Food was good, but a bit on a pricy end. The service needs to be improved. My bf and I came without a reservation so we were seated to a table that's way too close to a very narrowed walkway. Unfortunately, people kept hitting him a couple of time, which ruined our dining experience. We don't mind paying the service charge but the service wasn't that great. We got ignored by the staffs a couple of time. We left a bit dissapointed because we actually enjoyed the food.

I ordered a original pho. The bean sprouts is not fresh. Should be fresh and sweet but I could taste bitterness. Soup is good. Size is big. Atmosphere inside is very loud but it’s okay. My friend ordered a spicy one. The size is very big. Pho is softer than others. Not good or bad just personal preference. I will come to visit again, but not very often.

A restaurant serving authentic Vietnamese pho in London🍜 There are quite a few pho restaurants in Soho, but this restaurant's ban quon and bun bo hue are especially delicious. Bunbohu has a slightly spicier taste and more fish sauce taste than regular rice noodles, and the noodles are a bit thin (similar to the corn noodles used in malatang), but it has an addictive taste. For first-time visitors, I would like to recommend the prawn summer roll and beef pho. It may be a bit difficult to call a waiter during busy times. I go often because of the addictive taste. If you feel frustrated in London, go there👍

The girls who served us were quite nice, but when we asked if we could take our food takeaway they brought us a couple of Tupperware and told us to put the food ourselves. My wife and I Having worked in customer service all our lives, we still do, we would never ask in a restaurant to our customers to do this by themselves. What if they stained their clothes? Stepping into Cay Tre in Soho, I'm instantly hit with that familiar, bustling energy of a proper Vietnamese eatery. It's not just a meal; it's a little escape. For me, it's easily one of the best Vietnamese spots in London, and I've tried quite a few. Honestly, their beef pho? It's my go-to. That broth, so rich and deep but not overpowering, just hits the spot every time. The beef is always perfectly tender, and the noodles are silky smooth. It's a proper comfort food experience, and I haven't found a better bowl in town. Then there's the Hanoi bun cha. Those grilled pork patties are incredible – sweet, smoky, and just bursting with flavour. The vermicelli and fresh herbs are the perfect counterpoint, and the dipping sauce is a masterclass in balance. It's a dish I crave regularly. The staff are always friendly and efficient, even when the place is packed, which it often is. They're happy to offer recommendations, and you can tell they're passionate about the food. The central location is a huge bonus, especially for a quick lunch during a Soho wander. Cay Tre is more than just good food; it's about the whole vibe. The lively atmosphere, the authentic flavours, and the friendly service make it a genuinely enjoyable experience. If you're after real Vietnamese food in the heart of London, I can't recommend Cay Tre enough. The pho and bun cha are absolute must-tries, but honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It's a place I keep coming back when I crave Vietnamese single meal dishes.

Extremely Discriminatory and Dishonest Service – Avoid This Place! I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant due to clear racial discrimination. My group (Asian) arrived and was told to wait for a table. However, during our wait, we noticed that several white customers who arrived after us were seated immediately. When we questioned the staff, they lied and claimed that those customers had reservations—yet we overheard some of them saying they had just walked in without one. We ended up waiting for over 30 minutes, watching as more people arrived and got seated while we were continuously ignored. Even as the restaurant got busier, they still did not accommodate us. The blatant favoritism and dishonesty were shocking. If you value fairness, respect, and good service, I strongly do not recommend this place. It’s unacceptable for any business to treat customers differently based on race.

Really delicious (and seemingly authentic, although I’m not the best judge). The pho broth was incredibly rich & flavorful. The vegetarian platter was surprisingly good with very fresh spring rolls and a very tasty dipping sauce. The mixed seafood platter was ok but not likely something we’d order again. The place was packed on a Tuesday night and we waited a solid 45 mins for a table, which to us, signaled it was worthwhile. There’s no shortage of high, mid and cheap eats in SoHo. Not what it used to be. They now have a 2 star hygiene rating. Bad service - Staff are rushing you to order straight after you sit down, and then disappear once the food has appeared. Tables are very close together, offering little privacy between tables and strangers. Food is mediocre, prawns were not fresh and we had to send it back. When we paid and asked to remove the service charge, they tried to guilt trip us, that “we had to pay it since it goes to the staff”, and then said we had to speak to the manager. We were extremely happy to have the chance to voice our complaints to the manager, but unfortunately it was just a tactic, and they removed the service charge without speaking to us.

Mostly disappointing. Lack of flavor. I'm convinced they gave us the wrong wine. Some dishes needed a spoon or other utensils, and was a nuisance to chase down wait staff to get the necessary utensil. Brisket was good but needed rice or something. On its own was just a mess, as were most of the rest of the dishes. Very difficult to eat everything together on such a small plate. Fried Sea bream was the best dish, but really needs some more robust flavor. Spring rolls were dreadful. Chicken wings were good, but again messy, and nowhere to put the bones when done. Salt and pepper prawns left in the shells but also battered, so a big mess to eat and process the shells.

Popular Vietnamese in the heart of Soho. There are better Vietnamese restaurants but perhaps not as conveniently located. Best to reserve at popular times, although they do have share tables if you are just one o two which turn around quickly. After 9 pm during the week you can get a seat no problem. The menu is not huge but there is something for everyone, including veg. options. Went back last week and wasn’t as enthused about the food as before. The papaya salad and curry chicken in coconut sauce were very bland and average tasting. Service quick and friendly. Although one thing that really put off our party is their tea ordering system. If you order one pot of tea only one person can drink it. If they give you a second cup they will charge you double for the tea even if you are drinking from one pot! Imagine if they did that for rice or other food dishes…. Tables are small but can fit most orders.

Cay Tre, Soho, has firmly secured its place in my top five Vietnamese restaurants in London. The sleek, modern interior provides a welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for casual dinners and small groups. During my recent visit to Cay Tre in Soho, I was captivated by their Chicken and Bone Marrow Phở. The broth was rich and aromatic, infused with the deep flavors of slow-cooked bone marrow, which added a luxurious depth to the traditional chicken base. The tender chicken pieces complemented the silky noodles perfectly, creating a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. This dish truly took me by awe, standing out as a remarkable culinary experience that I would highly recommend to any phở enthusiast. I recently visited Cay Tre Soho and had mixed feelings about the experience. The starter was alright - the peanut sauce was actually quite tasty. The pho, which I had high hopes for, was okay but lacked the punchy flavour I was expecting. Service-wise, things were a bit all over the place. The manager, who seated us and sorted the bill, was friendly, but the rest of the staff seemed a bit disorganised. We had to ask for our drinks three times, and the food was brought out at different times, which wasn’t ideal since there were only two of us. The restaurant was busy, which might explain some of the hiccups, but I still expected better. Price-wise, it’s about what you’d expect for central London, so no surprises there. Overall, the place has potential, but the service and some of the flavours need a bit more attention.

We ordered salt & pepper tofu and chicken and prawn pancake for starters. I had beef brisket stew pho (beef was so tender!), and my friend had the assorted mushroom pho. Absolutely delicious food and we didn't wait too long for our food to arrive. The portions were generous. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because it's pricey for a Vietnamese restaurant (and located in central London) and with a discretionary 13% service charge on top, our final bill (including drinks) came up to around £84...for two people! If you're considering this restaurant for a date night or a fun outing with friends, you might want to think twice. Value for Money? No really, the food quality could be described as "extremely average,", the restaurant charges full-fledged restaurant prices for food that doesn’t quite justify the cost and then adds to this a steep 13% service charge for minimal service. The space is cramped to the point of discomfort, tables are so small that even an order of two mains and a starter struggled to fit. The layout of the restaurant leaves little room for movement, with customers and staff constantly bumping into us while we were eating! On top of that, the noise level is high, and conversations from neighboring tables are easily overheard. In summary, this place was a total fail, you are in SOHO, there are likely better options in town for a cozy night out or a gathering with friends.

I recently dined at this restaurant with a friend, and unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. Our total dining duration was 75 minutes, but at around the 50-minute mark, the waitress unexpectedly brought us the bill without us requesting it. This was very upsetting, as it felt like we were being rushed to leave, even though we still had drinks to finish after completing our meal. When we expressed our dissatisfaction and questioned the service charge, the waitress responded in an impolite manner, stating we needed to provide a “strong reason” for improvement. Frankly, I believe being pressured to pay the bill prematurely and feeling rushed during our meal is more than a valid reason for critique. Reluctantly, I ended up paying the additional service charge, but this experience has left a bitter taste. I will not be returning to this restaurant and cannot recommend it to my friends. Dining should feel relaxed and enjoyable, not hurried and uncomfortable.

My favourite Vietnamese restaurant in the UK. The beef, soup and noodles are all delicious. You must try this if you like Vietnamese food!

Food was average, the steamed egg in the Saigon Hawker Rice tasted a bit floury, and pork was a bit dry.

Food was delicious, tasted, just like any other Vietnamese restaurant. The service, however, did take longer than expected would recommend to a friend visiting

He visitado muchas veces cuando he venido a Londres y he ido al teatro.

This is deffo the most authentic Vietnamese restaurant in London. My mum and dad have to eat here at least once whenever they come to the UK to visit me.

Really nice food, the soup bases are much better than the pho chain. Especially Recommend the Hanoi bahn cuon and the pork belly stew.

There were no empty seats so I sat at the bar. Good atmosphere. The BBQ pork salad bowl was delicious. It didn't taste like the original, but it was delicious enough. For another menu item, I ordered a large size combo pack and was very disappointed. What on earth does this taste like? Unidentifiable soup taste. A suitably sized gun is recommended. Large combo is recommended. Two dishes, one lemonade, 48.31 pounds

The restaurant is bustling, but feels a bit like a canteen. The food is great and very authentic with generous portions. Prices have been increased significantly in a very short period of time which is disappointing. There are similar options at lower prices around.

Went with a couple of friend for din dins. When we first arrived they said we had to wait an hour to be seated, I asked for a booking and after a lil tug of war he agreed to seat us in an hours time. Now, unfortunately I wasn't able to try the pho because I told them I had a coriander intolerance and they absolutely refused to sell me anything with coriander in it. (So be warned, if you wanna take that risk don't say anything 😅...I play with my life so its good). I ended up have the wok friend chicken and prawns noodles, which were okay....a bit basic and a bit dry and definitely not authentic. The spring rolls and calamari were delicious 10/10. I give them that! I tried my friends hot and spicy soup which again was okay but I didn't feel like the food transported me anywhere.
