Food was average, the steamed egg in the Saigon Hawker Rice tasted a bit floury, and pork was a bit dry.

There were no empty seats so I sat at the bar. Good atmosphere. The BBQ pork salad bowl was delicious. It didn't taste like the original, but it was delicious enough. For another menu item, I ordered a large size combo pack and was very disappointed. What on earth does this taste like? Unidentifiable soup taste. A suitably sized gun is recommended. Large combo is recommended. Two dishes, one lemonade, 48.31 pounds

We came to Cay Tre Soho after we had it recommended to us for good Vietnamese food. Cay Tre is located in the heart of Soho. This how pho and banh cuon looks. We didnt even touch it yet Pho Tai Lan: As you can see in the picture, there’s almost no spring onion, and the pieces that are there are cut into large chunks. Either the kitchen doesn’t know how to cut onions or they’re just lazy. The white onion was sliced into thick, which changed the flavor of the pho. In a proper pho, white onion should be cut into thin slices. It seems like someone in the kitchen doesn’t know how to cut onions properly or they’ve been instructed to make pho look this way. Compared to the broth at Café East Pho, now located in Blackheath, this one is nowhere near the same level. The broth here tastes almost like water. The beef, however, was probably the only good thing about the soup. I would rate it 4/10. Banh Cuon: The flour for the banh cuon was incredibly thick. The “cha que” (pork sausage) was cut into thick, randomly sized slices, as if someone in the kitchen had to rush through it. Compared to Eat Vietnam, it seems like they’re still learning how to cook here. At Eat Vietnam, the banh cuon is on a completely different level, and for a cheaper price too. On top of that, the food looks much better at first glance. I would rate it 5/10. Fried Squid with Salt and Pepper: 5/10 – It tastes about 100 times better at Eat Vietnam. Atmosphere: The interior is nicely done, but it’s a bit dark, likely to hide any dirt, which seems to be a common trend in many places nowadays. The tables are placed quite tightly together, and if you’re seated in an aisle, people will constantly bump into you, mostly other guests. Service: There were at least 10 staff members present, but only one seemed to be working – she was cleaning tables and taking orders. It felt like she was the only one working since four others were chatting at the bar with their backs turned. Even when you wanted to pay, you had to wait. Maybe they were on an evening break – I’m not sure. But it was that same young waitress who came to help again. They charge a service fee of 12-13%, but I don’t think they deserve it. There was no real service; they just took the order, brought the food, and that was it. This is the basic job they’re paid for. Service is something extra, like when staff actually take care of the customers, check if everything is okay, etc. We only paid the service charge because we felt sorry for the young waitress. Recommendation: If you want to taste pho that not only looks good but also has a rich broth, I recommend Café East Pho. As for atmosphere and other dishes, I recommend Eat Vietnam.

This restaurant used to be my favorite Viet restaurant, however it’s huge disappointing yesterday. I ordered Saigon sate pho, as a Vietnamese who lived in Saigon, I can confirm it’s not authentic Saigon sate pho, they used pho broth mixing with peanut paste, it doesn’t taste sate at all, they didn’t season either. We don’t even eat sate pho with big pieces of cucumber and mango. I would never come back to this place and won’t recommend to my friends.

This was the worst restaurant that I experienced in London. The food quality was terrible and the service was more terrible. The restaurant staff brought me another drink that I did not order. I told him to bring the correct drink that I ordered and repeated the drink's name clearly but very surprisingly he kept insisting it is the same one. I am not sure whether it is due to his mere ignorance or trying to avoid his mistake in receiving guest's order wrongfully or an act of deliberately selling expensive drinks to customer but it would be definitely one from the three reasons. If the drink I ordered was out of stock, they should have told me frankly. The drink he gave me was a little more expensive than I ordered. It was definitely an abnormal situation but I generously forgave him for his mistake and had the drink because I did not want to ruin pleasant mood during trip. The main dish was served later, but regretfully the food was too greasy and salty to eat. I imagined the food that I enjoyed in other restaurant before and ordered the same food and expected similar level of good taste but could not enjoy it in this restaurant. The food tasted so bad. I wasted money here but did not want to waste my valuable time further and stopped eating the terrible food and left this awful restaurant as soon as possible for finding normal and better one. I do not recommend this terrible place.

I recently dined at Cay Tre and had a somewhat mixed experience. The restaurant was busy, and while the service was friendly, the timing of the dishes felt a bit off. Our starter arrived before we finished, and then the mains came soon after. While this wasn’t a major issue, it did make the meal feel a bit rushed. The real concern arose the next morning. Both my partner and I experienced significant stomach issues, needing to use the bathroom almost at the same time. We only ate at Cay Tre after work, with no other food consumed that evening, so it’s concerning that we both had the same reaction the following morning. While the meal itself was enjoyable, the after-effects definitely impacted our overall experience. I hope this was just an isolated incident, but I felt it necessary to share our experience for others considering a visit.

Avoid Very rude service. We were told with cold face at the entrance at 5.45pm that we must finish by 7pm to make room for their busy time. We were ok with 1 hour dinner as we were rushing to the show at 7.30pm anyway. The staff taking order at the table was not willing to walk us through the menu items but rather spent a great deal of time chatting and laughing with each other in a group in front of customers. Worst part is that the bill included service tip of 13% by default… for the very bad service. Insane! Food: sadly not authentic Vietnamese at all. I am from Vietnam. I think they adapted too much to the tastes of Londoners as opposed to keeping up authentic and original recipes. Worst part is that the poor quality food is over priced. A very small bowl of Pho costs £16-17. I can see the owner wants to create a great vibe with the nice interior deco and overstaff the restaurant. Perhaps they should keep up to the true Vietnamese food recipes and train their staff better.

I was recommended this location, particularly for the authenticity, so as someone who has southern Vietnamese heritage I was quite excited about this! I ordered the sweet potato fries and the banh uot. The sweet potato fries were quite good and I don’t have any complaints about them. They are topped with honey which is a great combo. The banh uot looked great presentation-wise, but the consistency isn’t what I’m used to and is too chewy (beo béo) compared to what I am used to, which is a more thinner banh uot. I was most sad about the fish sauce though, which I thought wasn’t strong enough. I want my breath to be rancid after eating a Vietnamese dish with fish sauce! Otherwise the atmosphere is great, and if I am back I do want to try other dishes.

We used to come often to this place before Covid and it was one of our favourite viet restaurants in London We came with very high expectations and very excited to come back to our favourite place remembering the tastes and service from the past. Nothing was even close. From the menu, to the quality of dishes and especialy the presentation of the food We had seafood platter for 2 (salt and pepper squid, soft shell crab and chilli garlic). It Doesn’t say in the menu that eveything comes deep fried. Furthermore, the batter was falling off in small pieces and it was really greasy. We didn’t finish it We also had summer rolls with shrimps (fresh rolls in rice paper) but there were not good, rice paper was really chewy, so most probably they were not freshly made what made them sticky and chewy. The Saigon pho was OK as well as green papaya salad but nothing special All together, biiiig disapointment😞 Not to mention staff being very loud between themselves Unfortunately not our favourite place any more😞

I had soft shell crab and a original beef pho with my family for fathers day. I would say the food is very good and authentic. The pho is different from normal. It is very rich but undersalted which actually made it refreshing and easy to finish. I usually like heavy flavored stuff with lots of salt and chilli but i didnt add anything. The soft shell crab could have been better as the batter was too thick and crispy while the middle was undercooked. Overall the price was just about worth it to try some good authentic pho.

Had the Garic Beef Pho, which was quite flavorful especially with my favourite seafood sauce. Soup base was definitely tasty however after a few more bite i needed to drink a dilute the flavours.

We were recommended to this place by a Vietnamese friend who spoke highly of this place. The food is far more authentic than usual pho you get elsewhere. Banh chuon is an interesting dish and a good recommendation to try something new. They have a set lunch menu which was good value for money. Tofu bun no hue was also customised for a vegetarian option as they replaced the beef broth with a vegetarian option. Overall a nice ambience and good place to try Vietnamese cuisine.

Nice Vietnamese restaurant in the middle of Soho. Every dish was full flavour. Service was great. Atmosphere was nice except for the couples who couldn't sit at different side of the table. They were always kissing and squeezing my friend's space all the time. My friend had to keep moving her bag away from them even the waiter had to ask them politely to move to larger table but was still next to us LOL. I wish the portion of food would be smaller so I can try more dishes. The price wad a bit high. My fav was Banh Cuon.

There is always a wait during dinner time. It is a local restaurant. The taste is truly authentic. But the price is quite expensive. The inside is not that big, so it's a bit noisy and the spacing between tables is narrow.

Got a nice bar walk in and delicious lunch with recommendations by very helpful waiter, really enjoyed the experience. Special pho with cinnamon sausage and crab cakes with a chrysanthemum tea 🪷🍜 I added extra chilli and garlic, beautiful!

Delicious and authentic food and really friendly service. Good amount of vegan options, I recommend the veggie rice noodle bowl. Also tasty cocktails - recommend the lychee one ❤️

One of the best Vietnamese restaurant in London. The food is exquisite and the staff welcoming! Heads up don’t walk in, call first just in case because it’s always busy!

Pho is brilliant! Service not so good. Seating is crowded, the person sitting behind me keeps elbowing me for an hour.

The restaurant interiors are not that great, it feels like a fast food chain. I would normally not have an issue with this but the prices they charge should not be as high as they are. I ordered the imperial spring rolls and pho - my pho was average (poor quality meat) and my spring rolls were really nice. The service was very quick. I spent £30 on 2 items so honestly I’d go somewhere else where you can get more for your money.

The worst restaurant I have ever been, I would say manager should be fired straight away as he does not have a manner and any respect towards his customers. I would never ever recommend to anyone be away better eat in street. I been with my friend to have a catch up after longtime. Since we sat waitress was pushing us to place the order, we did starter and main they brought both together with 8 minutes of sitting and it past only 15 minutes and they came 4 times to ask me if I had finished and at one point they took my bowl with food, when I told them I haven't finished yet they put back my bowl and then Manager came with bill saying if I leave within 15 minutes they will scrap my service charge. I felt humiliation and felt being forced to get out of restaurants just because they had long waiting queue and they wanted more money from more people. I'm am sorry to say I paid £68 for 2 people I wanted to enjoy my time and food, I don't want to be disturbed it is not fast food and you are charging heavy price and not cheap as fastfood street food. I was with my friend so I didn't wanted to make a scene and I paid and left, then we moved to next door cafe to have our catch up. If I wasn't with my friend, I wouldn't have paid a single penny and I would have made a scene there to all the customers to watch to see what bad manners manager is there.

The worst restaurant I have ever been, I would say manager is very racist, there are many review against him on Google, I wrote my review but got the copy paste reply from their team, no any action has been taken. he does not have a manner and any respect towards his customers. I would never ever recommend to anyone be away better eat street food then to waste your time and money here. I had terrible experience, check other bad reviews on Google, All the time waitress was pushing us to place the order, we did starter and main they brought both together with 8 minutes of sitting and it past only 15 minutes and they came 4 times to ask me if I had finished and at one point they took my bowl with food, when I told them I haven't finished yet they put back my bowl and then Manager came with bill saying if I leave within 15 minutes they will scrap my service charge. Food is tasty. Always order the pho. I just usually order delivery because the hygiene and cleanliness of the establishment is a bit disturbing at times. Got a pretty bad case of stomach flu or food poisoning the same evening last time I dined here which I haven’t gotten since the food stalls in Asian night markets over 30 years ago. Could have been a number of sources, including the tap water or the really dirty seat cushions near the back.

Went with a couple of friend for din dins. When we first arrived they said we had to wait an hour to be seated, I asked for a booking and after a lil tug of war he agreed to seat us in an hours time. Now, unfortunately I wasn't able to try the pho because I told them I had a coriander intolerance and they absolutely refused to sell me anything with coriander in it. (So be warned, if you wanna take that risk don't say anything 😅...I play with my life so its good). I ended up have the wok friend chicken and prawns noodles, which were okay....a bit basic and a bit dry and definitely not authentic. The spring rolls and calamari were delicious 10/10. I give them that! I tried my friends hot and spicy soup which again was okay but I didn't feel like the food transported me anywhere.

I booked a table online, and the restaurant cancelled the booking, so I called asking the reason. Someone answered, saying that the restaurant would close at 9 p.m. for "works" so the latest book would be at 8:30 and I would have to leave at 9. I said it would be ok, however, as I might still eat by 9 at least to let me finish. Obviously, I would not order any more food as the kitchen would close at 9 pm. The guy said that after my temper ( I was nice, polite and laughing while talking to him) he had to check if he could take my booking! Then he told me that I had been banned from making a booking and I could walk in, seriously ..... this guy has no customer service at all, shame for the restaurant.
