What’s the name of this restaurant? Oh yes, Caviar House. My partner and I visited Gatwick South on 30th August and they had no Caviar! The staff said it was because their line manager was on holiday. WTF? Come on guys…this is basic stuff.

Really has deteriorated. Such a shame I always eat here whenever I travel through Gatwick. Not the same anymore, the main lady serving is very dismissive, zero interest in customer feedback. I had the Seafood Platter for one, extremely watery Shrimps and Crayfish. Tuna TarTar is cut into huge unpleasant chunks. The Potato Salad was raw. Very disappointing. Won’t return.

We think Caviar House and Prunier Piccadilly is one of the most amazing seafood restaurants we have been to.. The service is always impeccable and we love the new decor and the expanded menu but can’t go past the oysters and smoked salmon.

I went for the seafood platter which had the addition of a teaspoon of caviar. Unfortunately the caviar had a rather unpleasant “muddy water” undertone to it. Despite me mentioning this to staff it was disregarded. This taste can often be due to poor water quality in the tanks where this smell/muddiness transfers to the caviar. I would not expect this poor quality at such an establishment. Perhaps the tin had been open a little too long and the flavours became more pronounced? Prawns were tiny and most likely frozen but there were some large ones too which were delicious, as was the salmon and accompanying sauces.

Me and my wife flew in gatwick south terminal on the 12th of February and had a very nice experience in caviar house with nice staff. Had a very nice champagne and tasty food, but the only thing is when I asked for my bill one of the guy just told me how much was my it so I paid it with cash but didn’t receive any receipt since we were boarding did not bother to ask. My wife and I fly from Gatwick 4 or 5 times every year. Every time we head straight for the seafood bar, every time we visit, the food, service and champagne are absolutely perfect. On the 2nd of November however we went there early in the morning and I ordered a crab, at first I were told there were no crabs so I decided to order an alternative when a member of staff "found" a crab !. I ate it, my wife had salmon and scrambled egg and all seemed well. However just before we landed in Barbados I started with stomach pains, for the next seven days I could hardly move away from the toilet. I saw the pharmacist and he told me I had seafood poisoning! I absolutely love seafood and this is the second time in my life I have had seafood poisoning, as bad as seafood poisoning is it will not stop me eating it I'm just a little disappointed that I had a dodgy crab at this place somewhere where we have spent many, many happy hours before our trips. Will this stop me going to the Caviar and Seafood Prunier ? Probably not it's become a part of our holiday and I doubt the staff meant to sell me a dodgy crab.

It’s the second time we stopped at the Caviar House to enjoy a refreshing meal prior to our flight. This time it was as nice as the previous time. Always quick and good service. The departure time screen is close by so you can keep track. Tastings: Smoked Scottish Salmon bowl served over curried quinoa salad. Generous salad portion. It had a kick to it and worked very well together. Score 4* Marinated prawns served over mango salad with a dipping sauce. Refreshing and delicious. Part of the fun of catching a flight has always been a quick stop at Caviar House for some smoked salmon and a glass of wine. The salmon and shrimp used to beautifully presented with fresh salad, gauze covered lemon to catch the pips, chopped onion and creme fraishe and toast. The shrimp was fresh and the salmon cooled, firm and tasty. Role the clocks forward to the last couple of visits. Salad wilted and unappetising, no creme fraishe, no chopped onion, no chives. the shrimp is now marinated in a disgusting chilli concoction that renders the shrimp either mushy or taste just foul. worst of all the smoked salmon was overly warm and also gone soft and mushy. All that was good was the wine and water but at £7 and £3 respectively is not good value. Add that to the £29.50 for the salmon and shrimp and I have enough reason not to want to visit Caviar House again. Such a shame as it always used to be the best start to a weekend away.

Waited a while to be served and once I did manage to place my order I then waited an age for what transpired to be a disappointing, unexceptional salmon salad. I use the term ‘salad’ loosely. A small pile of mixed leaves with a cherry tomato thrown on for good measure. Over-priced and staffed by a disinterested team. It explains why it appeared to be the only food outlet where there was no queue. I shouldn’t bother if I were you.

This is s traditional holiday stop for us. It’s definitely over priced but we love it and it’s a great start to every vacation. However, today was awful. Miserable staff, half the amount of smoked salmon and barely a spoonful of scrambled eggs. Apparently they don’t even give a chocolate with your bill at the end of your meal. We recently visited this establishment on our way through Gatwick Airport. We took one look at the menu, and decided to move on. Price of a bagel with smoked salmon, together with scrambled egg cooked in a microwave is £20. A plate of plain smoked salmon is £28. We used to like smoked salmon plus champagne as part of our journey, but not at these prices. Needless to say there were no other customers, as indeed is the case at the branch on Piccadilly next to The Wolsey, which is often fully booked. There is something seriously adrift with the pricing policy at Caviar House, which we had previously used for over ten years.

Given the tariffs for a crab salad (£27) one would expect it to be flawless. Crab portion is relatively generous but flesh tasted watery and vast amount of lemon and sauce were necessary to enhance the flavour. Bread was dry and old and big let down. To add to this, asked for a glass of red wine (Lebanese) which was terrible but thanks to great service I got a new one to replace it. It saddens me to rate it so low as the employees clearly try hard but the quality level is not there.

Ok let's be clear. It ain't cheap. But this is sea food and it's very honest about being seafood sat on a stool from the start. So if you don't fancy that don't bother. Also from the perspective that you are in an airport terminal with loads of middle of the road chains it is a refreshing option to have simple well presented sea food (if that is what you like, we do). Indeed I like being sat in a stool around the perimeter. You can see what you are eating as its being prepared. A posh restaurant would call it a Chefs table I guess. I go for the gravlax, or duo of smoked salmon. Note I always ask for toast as the default is bread. Toast is just nicer. The wine is all very good. (Again not cheap) but good. Service is prompt and efficient with a smile. The sea food is an honest quality. The bill will hurt if there are a gang of you on an the wine is flowing. That's fine by me but just a friendly warning. (This is a premium product served in a high cost location. How is that a surprise?)In short these guys offer a light meal using fresh quality ingredients prepared in front of you that can be swiftly consumed or made to last with a bottle or two of Chablis, depending on how much time you have. Sleep it off in the plane.I highly recommend it.

Excellent seafood always lovely and freshly prepared for you. Very helpful and enthusiastic staff. The prices are not cheap but it's in a airport. Whatever you order is beautifully prepared and served

.... this terminal isn't too bad for shopping and I always check-in as early as I am able to and then, after shopping for essential presents, head over to the Caviar House for a relaxing snack or pre-flight mealIt is conveniently situated on the main route to the Gates (but just to one side) and so there is an atmosphere of tranquility as you settle downI particularly enjoy their Gravadlax (and perhaps so cooked/peeled prawns as well) with bread and butter and the Dill Mustard Dressing .... and usually I will have a chilled glass of Sancere to go with thisYou may see the departure screens if you choose the right seat ... but also listen out for announcements as time will pass by quicklyIt's not cheap here ... but I think that the quality and excellent taste are worth it

Having some time to spare before my flight I decided to have lunch at this franchise. The prices were well above the value of the food served and at best the food was average. As mentioned by previous reviewers, the staff were totally disinterested in providing any level of customer service. The girl serving me barely grunted and seemed to be upset that I asked for additional items. The reason became clear as she was going off shift and proceeded to change out of her serving clothes in the middle of the serving area!!!The place was chaotic and staff had no interest in Customers. I will not be trying this place again even if the food on display looks appetising.

While they can't be faulted for their choice of wine, their mark-up is eye watering. Then, the food.Foie-gras. Cold, hard, badly presented slabs. Butter. In little foil packets, like a motorway service cafe. Salad. Inedible. Simultaneously limp and dry. Hard to pull that off but they've managed.Fig chutney. Done even ask. Yuk.Salad dressing, looked like a passing seagull had evacuated its bowels.Service. The words offhand and disinterested were invented for this establishment. Summary. There are at least twenty other places to eat in this terminal. I doubt that any of them are worse value for money.

When you have a very early start to your day and the airport is buzzing it can be very stressful. Even trying to get a coffee and snack can be like a war zone - so why not take a seat @ the Caviar House, order smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with toast - maybe a glass of wine, or champagne. Finish with a coffee. OK it's not cheap but beat the hassle, sit down, relax and enjoy the experience. A perfect start to any day / journey.cheers.

Usually good but tonight the fish was 50% batter and the rest dried over cooked fish. They won't be getting any of my money again.

What an experience, half-expecting Ant & Dec to pop out and reveal it was all a prank and I had actually won a vacation. To begin with, the table they gave us was too small for our group. We had to request forks more than five times, and when my starter finally arrived after being initially forgotten, I had to eat it with my fingers. They forgot two main courses and took over 15 minutes to bring them out, one of which was incorrect, leaving one person to dine alone. The place resembled a construction site, and the air conditioner dripped water on us, giving us an unintended shower. When we complained, they merely sent out a belly dancer to distract us. Despite multiple complaints, they still slapped us with a £51 service charge.

Very expensive compared to other local chip shops and stuck in the 80s not talking card payments. We were unable to get what we wanted as we didn’t have enough cash on us
