121 years run by the same family, this friendly Italian café has certainly got experience. Homemade ciabatta toastie with mozzarella and fresh tomato is delicious. Homemade lasagne is very tasty. Very fresh salad and chips as sides. Choice of teas and coffees and soft drinks. Helpful staff. Fabulous Wurlitzer jukebox. Worthy destination after walking the superb beach along the bay from Ardrossan.

This is our second visit to this local cafe in Saltcoats and once again we were not disappointed. Friendly attentive staff with subtle music from the Wurlitzer jukebox. Decent menu, well presented food and tasty too! Worth a visit if in the area.

Cavani's is a place that I have walked passed many times but never actually visited. One day I was in the area to do some shopping at Sainsbury's across the road and thought I would nip across to grab a spot of light lunch. Lovely old school vibe to the place and something of a dying breed of cafe's in the west of Scotland. Ordered a coffee and a cheese salad roll to go and was freshly prepared in no time, and very tasty (a proper chunk of cheese and not grated or a thin slice, along with a generous amount of salad all on a fresh roll). Will most certainly be back here again in future.

I've been coming here for about 25 years and it's still as great now as it was back then. Family run businesses don't get better than the CAVANI'S! It's been open since 1902 and still going strong. Great memories of this place. Long may it continue!

Visiting friends for the day wouldn’t be the same without a visit to Cavanis in Saltcoats. 100yrs this cafe has been in this families hands and the decor hasn’t changed much in that time. A real old fashioned seaside town cafe feel about it with the wooden chairs and tables having been there from the 70s. Take a look back at the photographs and ask questions. They are only too happy to oblige. Food could be warmer though

Tasty food at reasonable prices Like to sit in and takeaway - food is good - simple bowls of soup and toasties but done right - although side salad needs improved Popular and busy seaside cafe kept within the family and hopefully always is

I would describe this cafe as a traditional seaside/High Street cafe. There is a lovely atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and there is an old Wurlitzer juke box that anyone can play for free. The food is very good, including all the things you would expect: all day breakfast, soup, baked potatoes, sandwiches, toasties, filled rolls fish and chips etc. There is also a selection of speciality coffees. Portions are large and very reasonably priced. I have coeliac disease so I need to eat gluten free. The owner also has coeliac and is very knowledgeable about gluten free cooking. Most items on the menu can be made gluten free and are clearly marked on the menu. I would highly recommend this cafe whether or not you have coeliac disease.

Having lived in Ardrossan many years ago, our trip into Saltcoats would involve a trip to either Cavanis or the nearby Melbourne. I returned to Cavanis this month and nothing in the interior has changed. Not that there is anything wrong with that but where’s the woman that used to cook. Blonde hair had a false tooth and had a good crack with most of the customers? What a character she was . Was it Maggie? I’m not sure. She seemed to be there forever but not anymore. The food I ordered was ok but not that great. It wasn’t as hot or well cooked as usual but again some things changed and sometimes not always for the better

Twice now when I've order a bacon roll and asked for crispy bacon I've been handed a bacon roll complete with that horrible undercooked rind which isn't even warm never mind crispy. Lazy service.

This cafe has been run by the Cavani family for over 100 years. There were plenty of locals using the cafe. The food was good, the service was good and it was very reasonably priced. It has many pictures of the cafe and the family down through the years, all of which made it very interesting. We found it by accident and would try it again.

Table booked on 24/12/2019 for 9 people to have lunch on 5th Jan 2019. We were told when ordering our drinks that they had only one can of diet coke!! Bad start. One hour after our arrival no food had been brought to the table. Eventually starters were served. Food average. When we asked for salad cream for a salad it was to be told that they didn't have any! I ordered fish and chips and was told they didn't have any fish ' only scampi. Attitude to customers was take it or leave it! I felt they had let us down and Dalry down. We will not go back there again.

For a start, I don’t understand why a commercial building built in the late 90’s doesn’t have a lift given my guess of the average age of their clientele. We went for tea and a scone with my mum who is recovering from getting a new knee. We were told that we could have a table in the foyer cos the restaurant wasn’t accessible. They then changed their mind and told us that we couldn’t order a tea and a scone because there was already 6 people in their restaurant and it would be at least 30 minutes before they could put in a new order. There were 4 people in the empty shop, two in the foyer and presumably numerous staff in the cafe. Between them they couldn’t get us a tea and a scone. We won’t be back.
