Cattlemans Steakhouse in Torbay

6 of us locals, booked table 7.30 pm. escorted to table upon arrival, drinks ordered within minutes of being seated, all very impressive. We ordered starters and mains. Its 9pm drinks now finished, no-one from staff asking after us we're hungry and still no starter. We call a member of staff to find out about our food and if chef has not started just give us the mains, well it eventually arrived and told he was dealing with our mains soon after. It was almost another hour or more, we seriously had reached the point of leaving. A staff member acting as senior gave us a pathetic apology in that they had been busy serving a large table of 16. (quite surprised they had that number in a party due to Covid restrictions)??? We eventually left around 10.50 pm due to the long wait. Food-wise nothing spectacular other than the novelty of cooking own steak. (cannot help but wonder why then we had to wait so long. Would not return unless improvements are made and of your acting Manager who needs guidance in customer relationship.

Visited at the weekend with family and oh what a disappointment, only a couple of other tables occupied and service was so slow, staff too busy talking to each other. The carvery left a lot to be desired, we were served by a lad who was no older than 16, no sign of anyone else. Very bland roast, red cabbage was vile and the leek in cheese (I think) sauce tasted weird, parsnips undercooked. Not one staff member asked how our food was, just left to our own devices, no idea if they do desserts. Not the cleanest of restaurants I’ve been to either, meal was definitely not worth the money we paid. Very disappointed.

We were a party of 16, unexpected and Jodie gave us excellent service from start to finish in what must have been a stressful night for her. She was very attentive the whole time. Top customer service and great food

I came here with my family as we have heard great things about their “steak on the stone”. We all had the 2 for £29 deal and it was the best steak we have ever had! We were served by Becky, her service was amazing and nothing was too much trouble, we will definatly be back.

Just been to this pub for a steak meal.it was fantastic,like amazing steaks large portions and the flavor was exceptional.the meal was hot well presented and reasonably priced .would highly recommend a visit.we were served by a lovely young lady called Paige mitchell.nothing was to much trouble she was very helpful and made our experience an extremely pleasent one.thankyou to one and all . can't wait to see you again soon.

We ordered the steak sharer; 8oz ribeye, fillet and rump. You get to cut bits off and cook it to your liking. I don't think I'll ever want to eat steak again that's not done this way!! Paige was lovely, and made sure it was all clear. The coleslaw was amazing and the peppercorn sauce was the best I've ever tasted. I'm so glad I'm local. I could come here daily!

Been here 3 times with family always had amazing steaks, staff are friendly and accommodating nothing too much trouble (like asking for a bag to put our leftovers in for the dog!) was served by Taylar on our most recent visit and she was lovely thanks guys, recommended to loads of people already and will continue to do so!

Taylor, Paige and Becky where amazing nothing was too much trouble. We where made to feel extremely welcome and although there was a delay in us being served the level of concern showed by these three to us made us feel comfortable, would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good food and a high level of service.

Called in today about 4pm and the place was empty. The staff were very friendly, and the food was amazing.

Booked my daughter 21st party here. The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for you. There was a young girl in the afternoon that decorated for me and it looked amazing(didnt catch her name) and Tracey in the evening was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Took a trip out on a recommendation and had an amazing steak. The food is great and the portions are huge. Really friendly staff, our waitress Becky was bubbly and made you feel welcome. If you love steak this is the place to go. Will definitely come back again, highly recommended.

We had another gorgeous steak lunch here. The food is always amazing and the service we received from Aleesha was fantastic. We are always made to feel very welcome here, the food is amazing. This was our second visit and we will be returning again. I drive up from Plymouth each time and it's definitely worth the drive. Highly recommend!

Went here for Sunday lunch, all I can say I won't return. Not a very warm welcome, I paid for the food on my card and as I did contact I wasn't offered any form of receipt. I felt uncomfortable even asking. The carvary wasn't nice and I had left the majority of it. When going up to the carvary counter no staff members to serve anyone, they were in the kitchen area laughing and talking , and another member of staff had to get someone to come out and serve.

Went in for Lunch. Ordered Sauage, mash, peas and onion gravely. Served with a salad instead of peas!!!. Sausages dreadful and very low quality. Gravy awful at best. Wouldn't eat here again

Everything cold or lukewarm at best. Plate sizes large was regular small was child's.plate sizes not explained properly. Cauliflower cheese burned to a crisp. Who serves black cauli. Veg choice minimal & awful been going for years will never go back.

We went to the Parkers Arms (The restaurant is called the Cattleman's) while we waited for our car to be serviced. A great way to wait for anything with a leisurely lunch!!!!!

We attended the Cattlemans having been recommended and were not disappointed. The staff especially Becky was so helpful as I was one of a party of twenty one people!! From when I booked the table till when I paid the bill and left, nothing was too much trouble and all the staff extremely accommodating. Service was excellent as was the food. Everyone in the party had a first class meal which was such good value for money. The steaks were absolutely amazing and portion sizes were plentiful. We were celebrating an18th birthday and when we arrived they had decorated where we were sitting with banners and balloons (all at no extra charge). The whole order was correct and no meal missing any items which is quite amazing considering there were 21 of us. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend the Cattlemans @ the Parkers Arms. Thank you to Becky and all the team for their friendly and welcoming manner.

The last two visits here have been a huge disappointment , Have been going here for a few years for the carvery but last visit were poor , the yorkshire puddings were shrivelled and tasteless, the veg selection was minimal and luke warm the roast potatoes were most definately re-heated and burnt all in all the carvery side of this pub has gone downhill I believe the Cattlemans steakhouse side however is great although have not tried yet .

We have been going to this place for some time now and can honestly say we would not go anywhere else while Kerry is the cook. All the girls that serve are absolutely gorgeous, friendly,helpful and more than accommodating. The atmosphere is unbeatable. The team work is on point here between the staff and they are a really happy bunch which is a pleasure to see. Every where we go we recommend this place , it won't be beaten on service or quality. If the gov isn't careful I may pi ch the staff for my place , hope he's paying you all well cause your all worth every penny.

What a place to eat, sublime food wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. I have eaten some lovely meals out all over the country but you top them all. I would wholeheartedly recommend the parkers arms to anyone looking for a special place to eat and if you are fortunate enough to have Becky waiting on you for the evening then you will find your evening will pass in perfect fashion with your table well looked after with a smile and lovely manner.

Myself and my family chose to celebrate my birthday with a meal out and we settled on trying the Parkers arms and wow were we happy with with our decision.... The best steaks in town doesn't do it justice my steak was served sizzling on a lava stone so I could cook it to perfection and everybody in my party left the table feeling well fed and very happy. Our waitress Becky could not have done more to make our evening perfect checking we had enough to drink and promptly clearing our table and to even getting our sense of humour. As a party of 8 adults and 2 children, I can honestly say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the carvery. Portions are very good, the meat cooked to perfection,plenty of veg and, just like home roast potatoes and gravy. Well done to the chefs and the waiting staff for excellent service. At the end of the meal we asked for the leftover meat to be wrapped for us to takeaway and what they brought back was freshly carved meat not leftovers!! Can’t beat that!! We will be back.

Very Busy night for the Cattlemans, we booked online about an hour before without difficulty.

Today we visited for a roast all I can say is amazing we had fresh vegetables beautifully cooked meat and the gravy was delicious we were meet by Paige who’s customer service was excellent and helpfulness refreshing throughly recommend

It was a quiet wet Tuesday night and not many people in.The service we got from Jodie was very good. The way of serving the meat was unusual, it came seared and on hot lava stone so you could cook it however you wanted it from rare to well done. It was served with sides of chips or baked potato with salad. The meat was wonderful and I would recommend it to any steak lover. The service from Jodie was attentive and she explained how the system worked. There was actually too much food which is better than getting small servings.

Came again this Sunday for lunch, again food delicious with a great range of vegetables. Staff friendly and helpful. Will be back.

Visited what used to be a pleasant pub /restaurant on a Friday night for something quick to eat

I will start this review with the best feature, which was the food. The carvery was nice and we took advice from a previous reviewer and bought the small one. We are in our 60's and found this was plenty. It was tasty and there was a selection of vegetables and 3 choices of meat. Gravy was delicious! !

The venue is clean, tidy and welcoming. The breakfast is full English served buffet style. The quality of the food is excellent. The staff are always pleasant and professional . The speaker was informative and gave God’s word excellently. Well worth attending.

It's a shame as with their pricing and specialising in steaks, you do build an expectation which is not delivered. Such a shame. Deserts were quite nice though.

This restaurant is well worth a visit! From friendly staff to gorgeous food, the experience was just divine! The staff were so lovely and nothing was too much trouble - staff who looked very happy to be working there (which doesn’t happen often). Kayleigh, our main server, came across very pleasant and happy. It wasn’t a rushed experience that you get in some restaurants. Plenty of time to enjoy drinks and catch up with family/ friends. The starters were definitely generous in size. The steak was absolutely spot on and by far the best steak I have tasted (I am a serial steak eater!!). My only criticism is that they haven’t mastered their Diane sauce in my opinion (I love a mushroom sauce usually!), but I pinched my husband’s peppercorn sauce and it was absolutely spot on! I should say that my husband did enjoy the Diane sauce, so it is obviously to some people’s taste! I am sad that I am only here for a holiday, otherwise I think I’d be coming here all of the time! Perhaps a good thing for the bank balance :-). Many thanks to the staff for making us feel so welcome and comfortable on our holiday!

We had our wedding reception here, it was the first reception they had hosted and it was amazing! The staff couldn't have been more attentive and accomodating! They made sure everything was perfect beforehand and during the night and they even decorated the room and left us a personal message (see photo!) The buffet was delicious and plentiful and the drinks were reasonable and good quality! I couldn't recommend more and if I could give it 100 stars it still wouldn't be enough!

Had my husbands 40th birthday party there. Great venue for a party nothing was to much trouble. Staff all friendly and helpful. DJ was awesome. Food was good.

We stumbled upon the Cattlemams by chance and I'm glad we did . They have a vast array of speciality Gins which are all amazing ! The lady behind the bar was very helpful and chatty.

Very dissapointed over priced needs extractors as the smell and smoke was over powering made your eyes water poor service asked waitress for dessert menu never arrived so we left never to return

22 of us booked into the Parkers Arms Paignton, we all had various meals. I had the Angus burger with Salad and Chunky Chips, the meal came and it was a large portion the Angus burger i had with just cheese and loved it. I had Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake for afters, again very good portion and delicious. Good value for money, friendly atmosphere how much more do you need.

wow, stunning food,cheap drinks,lots of staff.....Cannot fault this place at all, despite being fairly busy we were served quickly and efficiently with mouthwatering garlic mushrooms for starters and a tasty carvery which despite being around 5 pm and late into service was first class. My mistake was i did not realise the awesome array of steaks that were on offer so didnt feel as i could of done them justice. Already planning my next visit and am going to attempt the 70oz challenge which if eaten in under an hour is free. The smell of the other tables steaks being sizzled on the volcanic rock at the table is so divine and just wants to make you eat more. Would just like to say a thank you to the staff as well who all being young , were very professional and polite and a credit to your business. as stated will be back so keep that 70oz for me please im going to smash it.

Had a good deal of two steaks with chips, tomato and mushrooms with two dessert for £30. Presentation was good and brilliant idea of cook your own steak on volcanic rock however I’ve had a better steak at a normal pub. Nicely laid out restaurant but was a shame there was only two desserts in the cabinet to choose from and the sevice was very slow.

We found this place on our Wild camping app. They were really helpful and said we could have a few drinks instead of covering the cost of staying. Really nice pub, clean and welcoming.

I came here with my husband after my son had raved about the steak which you cook yourself on a volcanic rock platter.

All the staff are lovely and very friendly, yet just very reactive. Not sure if they had a busy lunch but found we needed to get up and ask for most thing. Eg wanted to order need to track someone down to do it, same with sauces. Apart from this they are lovely people. The food was good and all cooked good. Little pricey for what it is but we will return.

Lovely food would recommend there grill your own volcanic rock steak (forgotten it’s official name) as it’s the best I ordered a rib and steak combo plate was massive but pricey but nice food was a bit cold and wasn’t impressed by the steak cooked for me but my partners (the grill your own) was absolutely perfect the staff lovely and helpful so kind the decor nice and there brownies were delicious the best I’ve had in a long time overall lovely vibe but a bit pricey and must be careful what food you pick as to wether it’s a enjoyable meal

My husband and I had an amazing meal. The steak was cooked to perfection for my husband as he didn't want to cook it on a hot stone, the chef was very happy to accommodate and cook it very well done for him. The staff were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Excellent

Having been before for lunch with a mate of mine I returned with my family for my grandsons 21st birthday, as there was 37 of us plus a few toddlers I can only say WELL DONE to all the staff who worked very hard to make our evening a great one, as you can imagine there were a couple of hiccups but they were dealt with with a smile and did nothing to spoil the evening..

if you want a steak in paignton this is the place to go. stakes are served on vulcanic rock so you can cook to taste. it is a little expensive but well worth it.

Came here on a Thursday evening it was fairly busy. We ordered our steaks which were ok but I have had better. Not sure if they were short staffed as the service was quite slow and the waitress was quite forgetful.

Called in for lunch and both ordered steak as it is a steak house. One came on a hot stone which we hated as it is hard to judge if steak cooked to your liking . Also my steak was rare not medium and I had to leave it. Staff very polite and efficient. Very lack lustre dessert menu , I looked in dessert cabinet and strawberry trifle was in a champagne flute !! Wish these places would make a few good puds in house by a chef . Won't be going back.

We have just visited The Parkers Arms for a Sunday Carvery whilst here on holiday. We were both impressed by the surroundings and also the food on offer at the carvery. We really enjoyed our visit and would certainly recommend and visit again.

After craving a steak all week we stumbled across this place yesterday. The steaks are all done on hot stone which was a first for us, they even do a hot stone for children. Once the food arrived the waitress explained the best way to cook our steak. This has to be the best way to eat steak as each slice is cooked exactly how you personally like it. The steaks arrived with plenty of accompaniments and was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent! The restaurant and bar was spotless. If your in the area this place is a “must visit”.

Great atmosphere, amazing staff especially Toni and Ella who are so friendly, helpful and made the party fantastic, Thank you girls. Plus the awesome DJ Bonner who was very considerate of what my daughter wanted to give her the best experience.

Sometimes the food is very good and sometimes it's just fair. Staff seem to care but something is lacking. Last Steak I had was fab, but last carvery was poor.

I’ll start by saying I rarely write bad reviews because mistakes happen and people sometimes just have bad days but the attitude and lack of communication by some of the staff here is terrible.

Great service and equally fantastic food. Sizzling plates were a novelty for my lads. We really enjoyed the hospitality and atmosphere, would recommend if you fancy a decent steak. Portion sizes are big so go hungry and leave an empty plate.

Visited tonight with my family. Really looked forward to having a great steak. I’ll start by saying the food was excellent and the theatre of having it served on the ‘volcano rock’ to finish it to my desired rareness was really good. The staff were friendly and the decor was very fitting.

Sadly not had a very good experience. We booked a table at Cattlemans last Wednesday 25th July 2018 for 6 adults and 2 children. We ordered our food and drinks. The place was empty so was expecting a very quick turn around. Sadly it took 1 1/2 hours for our starters to arrive which were 1 sharing platter, 1 portion of nachos and 1 children’s chicken nuggets and chips. The nachos were very greasy. After waiting a further 2 hours for 6 main courses we decided to give up and asked the waitress to cancel our food. They were very apologetic and said that they would get the owner to call us. I provided our contact number but sadly no one has called. Not good customer service from the owners at all.

Came in here with the family for a quick drink.. Was reasonable prices.. Sat out side as it was boiling.. 2 beer gardens to pick from.. So lots of room to relax.. Will be back again.....

There are no words to express how wonderful the whole evening was. The staff were exceptional and they made the evening even more wonderful! I really don’t know how I can thank them enough for working so hard and joining in with my celebration! The food, the atmosphere and overall everything about the Parkers was excellent!! Had a business meeting at the venue and we stayed for food also.

Recently visited while on holiday and we all had the carvery, the meat was well cooked and plentiful, the Yorkshire puddings had sat under the heat lamps to long and were hard and dried out, selection of veg was good but the broccoli was raw and the cauliflower cheese had an unpleasant taste.

Just come back from a meal at the restaurant. We ordered the steak and ribs. Tried the steak first.... lovely, then I picked up one of my ribs and it was stone cold.... complained to thee staff whi apologised and took mine and the finances meals back and offered us a complimentary drink... We accepted and awaited our food for the second time. When it arrived sure enough the ribs were now hot but the steaks had disappeared off of our plates. Couldn't get out of there quick enough. Shame as we've been 3 times before. We will never go back.... disastrous meal..

Enjoyed a Sunday carvery here, meat delicious, lots of vegetable choice, chef and floor staff were very polite and friendly, excellent value for money, will definitely return.

Another good carvery was served today, popped in on the off chance that it wouldn't be to busy, got a table straight away, the young girl serving was swift and efficient, the meat was beef pork and turkey and was given a generous slice of each, potato's were lovely and crisp, plenty of veg with lovely gray, plates were cleared quickly and we enjoyed a nice dessert, all in all a good meal

Visited on a family holiday and we had four steaks, gammon and ribs. All were superb and loved how it cooked on the volcanic stone. Would definitely return

Visiting the in-laws who live nearby, we wanted to try a local place, and we were not disappointed. It is one of the best places that we have ever eaten! The steaks were excellent, and being served on the hot stone plate, meant they were cooked exactly how we liked it.

We are on holiday for a week, saw the reviews and thought we would give it a try.we booked our table online, it was quiet and we were promptly seated on arrival.the waitress soon came round and took our drinks order then soon after the food orders were taken.Three of us had steaks and one had ribs.The food was worth the 30 ish minute wait and we were impressed at the very good portion size.We liked the way the steak is served....on a hot plate...and you can finish cooking the steak the way you like it yourself. we all enjoyed our meals.Very good value overall and would definitely call in again before we go home.

This has to be the best steak house I’ve been to since going to America I like the fact that the steaks come on a volcanic blazing hot stone sealed ‘blue’ so you can cook your steak to how you want it, hence the food came out very quickly!

This local pub which has always catered for locals and holiday makers has undergone a change of management and style since i last visited 2 years ago.

Gave this place a go and we were certainly not disappointed!!! The steaks were beautiful, all the staff were friendly, such a fantastic atmosphere and great value for money. We will definitely be back with all the family!

booked table for five 2 weeks ago got there table only for 4 chair added sat down awaiting family to come was asked if chair could be taken away as needed said no awaiting family so busy manic family came ,we just finished food and sat trying to chill and was aked to leve as table needed not happy as booked and peaple comeing in not booked rushed out with my family who were visiting not happy to be honest food good as eaten here before will think twice before book fathes day mothers day ect .....mabe being to greedyif you book you should not be asked to leve ,,,,,,,

Just back and worth every penny. The most friendly pub I've ever visited in the bay the management should be proud of all the staff. Relaxed atmosphere, good selection of drinks and the Steak is to die for. Well presented meals I'd recommend anyone visiting Torbay to pay them a visit. Thank you all!

1st time here what a great meal very warm welcome 1st class waitress caeliegh . The T bone steak was the best one thing for sure we will be back great evening.

This was our 3rd visit today within the past two week's, and have to say the food is excellent and not overpriced.
