booked here as we were attending a wedding in Bibury village. Very good accommodation and the staff were so helpful and friendly. My only criticism were the beds. They were just too soft and very bouncy. We had asked for room to be set up as twin and were little wary of turning over in case we fell out. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was well prepared and a good choice offered. We had breakfast both mornings and again freshly cooked and well presented.

We reserved a table for lunch but restaurant was out of bounds due to large party attending and we were rudely told to keep out when we tried to enter when a disabled member of our party needed to sit down. We were then seated at a particularly unappealing dark table in another room. We tried to move to an unoccupied table with a bit more light but were told that this too was reserved for another large party. The food was generally ok, the fish and chips were well cooked but the pie was served with a strange thin, greasy gravy.. The service was good (10% service charge was added to bill) However a large part of the enjoyment of eating out is the ambience and this place had none. The gents toilet also needs attention as some taps not working and cubicle door does not close. We will not be returning.

We went here to have dinner but didn't end up eating. we were told to sit in the bar area which was loud and tables are really close together, so felt like we were all sat on top of one another. The floors were dirty. Dogs were running off lead and barking around the pub. The one bar staff was rude and didn't make us feel welcome so we left wouldn't return nor would I recommend.

We were in Bibury for a wedding on Saturday and we ate at The Catherine Wheel on Friday evening with friends. Everything we ate was really nice - a pizza, a steak, a burger and a risotto. Two of us had brownies for pudding and the waitress thoughtfully brought 4 spoons in the case the puddingless changed their minds. The staff were very friendly and helpful, including when one of the party was called on the restaurant's phone with some query about the wedding arrangements. Very nice evening, and a nice place to eat. Thank you to everyone concerned.

Service was pleasant and friendly but the ploughmans we both ordered were disappointing at £13.50 each. Two tiny fridge cold portions of unspreadable butter, two small pieces of dry (stale? baguette, three portions of cheese….all straight from the fridge. Cold Brie is just unpleasant. Just a little more care and fresher bread please. Very poor value.

I’m shocked to say we actually encountered an unkind person on our travels in the Cotswolds. We stopped in here - to be fair, with no reservation. It is so beautiful inside and a perfect location if you’re exploring Bibury… plus it has parking! Unfortunately, when we asked to be seated we were told the kitchen was too busy serving others to be able to serve us too. No problem - we decided to stay for drinks. But, then, we noticed additional folks were ordering food. We thought maybe the kitchen had caught up, so we asked if it was possible to order something quick at this point or if they had something premade, like crisps for purchase. The person we asked told us they “said no twice but now felt bullied” then handed us a menu to order from. We were confused and, frankly, embarrassed. Not only had we not asked twice before… we were watching them serve others who’d walked in. Then, the same person walks back over and asks what we want to order. When I said we were leaving, they said “are you sure? It’s no bother.” At that point, we paid for our drinks and left. So disappointing and not even remotely reflective of any other experience we’ve had in all our time in this beautiful place.

I booked a table for 3 for the 26th November for my Birthday and my name is Catherine. When we arrived, we were seated to a table and were completely ignored for 25 minutes, not even asked if we would like a drink , whilst the waitresses served people that came in after us. We were made to feel so uncomfortable that we had to get up and leave, no-one stopped to even ask if we were OK. I've never had such an uncomfortable and poor customer service care ever !!! Please avoid. I won't expect an apology from such ill mannered people.

On a very busy Sunday in Bibury (when is it not busy right?!) we popped into The Catherine Wheel without a booking, hopeful that they might have room for us. The staff were eager to help and we were promptly seated and served an absolutely delicious Sunday roast (I had pork and my wife had beef). They had a good selection of beers on tap, a great beer garden and dog friendly too! All of the staff were charming, attentive and genuinely seemed happy to be there. The entire experience was excellent from start to finish, I can highly recommend The Catherine Wheel and would definitely go back again.

The Catherine Wheel is the only pub in the “prettiest village in England”. We went for a birthday lunch. The staff were very friendly and efficient so we were not kept waiting. The food was somewhat mediocre. The beef and ale pie was okay-ish, tasty and full of meat but with a hard pastry crust. The accompanying vegetables were canned and watery. The premises need a makeover, to be honest. Somewhat disappointing, so a repeat visit is unlikely. It’s a shame as the village had plenty of tourists who might have liked to dine in a typical English pub.

She also had the Veggie Lasagne, I the Hunters Chicken and we shared Olives and bread as a starter. Total cost was £50 (+10% tip)The menu was good, standard pub fare and the quantities substantial ... is that expensive in a small village that's on the major tourist through the Cotswolds? I think that's up to you to decide, in my opinion it's a bit high. The pub itself is externally a lovely old Cotswold building, inside it has been restored to create four rooms around a central bar, beams (some looking a bit fake) have been painted black, the walls white and the half-height panelling cotswold green. Space has been maximised, which in my view has resulted in a somewhat souless pub which is a great shame.

The bed was very comfortable and there was also a great shower. Breakfast was great, as was the service. Highly recommended.

Having collected a new car earlier in the day, planned to visit the stunning Bibury and sought this pub out. A lovely setting, plenty of parking (wouldn't even try in the summer obviously). Friendly staff, nice decor with various areas to fine in. Ok selection of Gins and good Ales. The three staff working were excellent, attentive and organised. We shared some nachos to start, which were both plentiful and yummy. My good lady had goats cheese with a side of marvellous hand cut chips. I had the sausages and mash, which again was very nice. A beautiful pub in an absolute must of a village to visit. Though as I alluded to above, I wouldn't risk going there in high season, as naturally it will be packed out with tourists.

I came here in the early morning at 9am for breakfast, staff wasn't expected my visit, they apologised for the inconvenience and once opened they kept tidy the whole area and I waited patiently (my fault I should advise earlier next time ahahah). Once seated they served my breakfast, I had single espresso, porridge and toast with butter, it was great. Staff is nice, Debbie the waitress/bartender was really friendly and welcoming, she recommended me to visit some of the best places around the Cotswolds. Good place if you'like a break during your journey in Bibury. 5 stars

We booked a table a few weeks ago. On arrival the car park was quite full so that told us it would be busy. On approach to the front door there were poeple smoking and swearing. If we hadn't booked a table I would have left there and then. We went in to the bar but couldn't get anywhere near the bar as the locals were proping the bar up and wouldn't let anyone else anywhere near it. A waiter asked if he could help and were seated promptly when he knew we had booked a table. We ordered soup for both of us for starters then a burger and a steak for mains. We had to wait a good while for the soup but the bowls were filled more than I was expecting, the bread taste wasn't as fresh as it could have been. The fries that came with the burger came all ready salted which doesn't help those who are trying to reduce thier salt intake. The chips with the steak, one was as cold as if it had been taken straight from the fridge and plonked on top of the piping hot ones, the steak was cooked to order. After we had finished we sat for quite a long time chatting with the plates in front of us with the waiting staff walking past ignoring us. We eventually put the plates on the side of the table where the waiters walked past and it still took them a long time to move them. No one came back to ask if we wanted dessert also NO ONE asked if our meals were ok throughout the meal. I did want adessert and another drink but we decided to pay the bill and leave. We won't be returning here which is a shame as I found the food good.

We went there at 3pm for a late lunch and despite the pub had several empty tables and the restaurant being fairly empty we have not been offered food and table because of a shortage of staff and shift changes in the kitchen. The guy at the bar claimed that waiting time was roughly 45 minutes and suddenly increased it to 1 hour. There were other customers eating in there so I have the perception that the fact that I was there with 3 kids put them off from offering us a table or an alternative.I felt really discriminated

Came here following a long walk for lunch. Staff were friendly and helpful despite how busy they were. As Bibury is popular with tourists and there are only a couple of places to eat, there was a short wait for a table and then again for food. It was worth the wait though, the Cotswold rarebit with chips and salad was lovely and a good price. They had to stop taking food orders at 14:30 due to the numbers of people arriving but we were told this was unusual. I would suggest booking if you definitely want to come here to avoid waiting for a table. Limited vegetarian options.
