Bad food. I ordered the pizza as a safe option, since nothing looked particularly great on the menu. Somehow they managed to even mess that up as it was terrible. My colleagues said her salad was really bad as well. We won't be going back .

Más allá está mal. Fuimos para una ensalada para llevar - normalmente están en la nevera. Dicho Ninguno pero camarero que podían hacer. Esperamos casi 20 minutos para esto, y entonces fue tan sólo nos dio una caja de poliestireno. Yo era taaan tarde desde el almuerzo por ahora que lo acepté sin revisar los contenidos. Cuando yo, en mi escritorio, me pareció que había pagado 6 libras por una caja de wet iceberg con un 'pellizque' de atún y algunos pasada tomate rebanadas y pepino. El fuerte fue empapados de la lechuga. No sólo la comida una vergüenza pero mientras espera que fui a los aseos y no estaban muy limpias. Todo el lugar olía a rancio aceite. Una muy mala experiencia. No se sorprenda si que cierra pronto.

Don't be fooled by the branding- not at all healthy food. Microwave rigatoni and junk burger. The food is MacDonalds quality.

We passed by this restaurant a couple of weeks ago on our way to the Barbican and thought it looked interesting, The advertised soups and healthy food gave the impression it would be ideal for a light lunch. So on our next trip to the Barbican we popped in - big mistake ! We were informed there was a limited menu as it was the holiday season, not a problem. We ordered 2 pasta dishes. After a 30 minute wait in a less than busy restaurant the meals arrived. We both sat and looked at our meals in total bemusement , neither dish was what we'd ordered! Different pasta and really weird sauces. I've never seen a carbonara sauce that was literally just scrambled egg or a amatriciana sauce without tomatoes. As we were now pressed for time , we couldn't wait another 30 minutes for a replacement dish, so we decided to carry on with what we'd been given. Very poor and tasteless. We will not be returning.

Popped in here for lunch with colleagues when everywhere else nearby was packed full - never a good sign, Caterina 55 was empty. Ordered at the counter and took a table. Food arrived quickly but was very obviously microwaved to order, and two lasagnas (one meat, one salmon) were barely lukewarm. One portion was minute compared to the other - not worth the £9 paid. A colleague's vegetable pizza, on the other hand, was freshly cooked, very generous and delicious!

I had lunch there about a month ago. I ordered my food at the counter and sat down. After waiting for over 30 minutes it appeared they had forgotten my order! I had to go back to the counter to chase it as the waitresses were ignoring me. Then last night I wanted to eat there but could not even get in! The door handle was faulty so I had to walk round the corner to the back door to gain access. I reported it to the only person at he counter. The food was just average. One of the female toilets was out of order, the other had no paper left. What a difference from when this restaurant had just opened! Keen and polite staff, fresh food and sauces (not in sachets) and better maintained. What happened?

I am shocked to discover such a poorly run restaurant with atrocious food still exists in a city where good restaurants are more than plentiful. There is a large sign as you enter 'healthy natural Italian food', so when you sit down at a dirty table to watch a tv advertising their 'Italian burger' which would make Wimpy look modern, you soon realize this is a strange place. We thought we would order to see if the food was good quality. Half the soups they didn't have and they had apparently run out of bread which i regard as a necessity with soup, as would no doubt any other decent restaurant. One soup came and friend had a good go at it before admitting it tasted as bad as it looked. 10 minutes later, the rest of us were still waiting for our food and decided after seeing the soup that had come, together with the most vile mozzarella balls this side of 1975, we decided to walk out. They offered no refund. They will need all the help they can get as will no doubt close before expiry of their rent free period.

Whilst making my way to the delightful Whitecross Street market after a hard mornings work I couldn't help but notice the alluring and inviting 'Healthy and Natural Italian' slogan above Caterina 55's door. I should have known better, and like a chain smoking 50-something avoiding the pictures of diseased gums and low sperm count stats on a cigarette packed I belligerently soldiered on in search of a new light lunch venue. My fledgling career as the next Poirot lays in tatters as I write this having missed some now obvious clues along the way that this might not be the hidden gem that I thought I had uncovered. Having selected my meal from the TV flicking through plastic burgers and sloppy lasagnes I went to sit down. Here was another clue that I might been misguided breaching the threshold of Caterina 55. 1.30 on a Thursday lunchtime in the City of London in Christmas season - and yet - I was so fortunate as to find a completely empty eatery. My colleague managed to make his way through the oily scum that guarded his oddly opaque and grey soup before we had to pull the plug on this new venture. Turning my back on the £8 meal that I had just ordered like a City Highflier I left having reported the tardy service, disgusting food and grubby nature of the restaurant to one of the poor over worked staff. I fear that unless this 'family' run restaurant does not change something that it will not last long....

I wish that I had trusted my gut and just walked straight out, but the promise of Natural, Healthy Italian food tricked me into ordering some Mozzarella balls and a minestrone soup; both surely simple delights, which an Italian restaurant with over a century's experience of producing Natural, Healthy Italian food would knock out with ease and style! It was not so. My Minestrone was grey/brown (and tepid), except for a thick oily skin which would have looked more at home in the Regent's Canal. The mozzarella balls aren't worth discussing; who can't coat and deep-fry mozzarella without even a smattering of success? ...Caterina55. My colleagues didn't even wait for their food; paying to eat nothing at Caterina55 was preferable to actually eating there. Wagamama didn't disappoint.

I have eaten in many restaurants over the years, but never one as awful as this.... The place was empty, we sat down but were ignored until we went to the counter. The two tables next to us hadn't been cleared - and remained so throughout. We ordered a bottle of red wine, it was not available, chose another, they had run out of that too. We were told there was no white wine either. Chose the more expensive red, which was poured into a dirty glas, clearly unwashed with lipstick on the side. The toilets were dirty with no toilet rolls. We ordered soup then a main. The very unappetising lasagne was delivered before any sign of soup or before they could find any clean glasses. We gave up and left.

Came here with a friend who ordered pesto pasta which was unfortunately lukewarm when it arrived and the pesto sauce was quite watery (in fact she thought water had been thrown in!). My lasagne was nice but a pretty small portion for the £8 it cost. Battered calamari was delicious though. Service was also good. Quite underwhelming overall.

I have walked past here a few times and must say that from the outside, the façade etc looks very impressive, all glass fronted etc, super modern in this brand new building near Barbican. We only went in for afternoon drinks and a chat, so I really can not comment on the food. As we were here for conversation, the loud music was a bit annoying and not to my taste, but there you go, such is life. Overall, I feel that this place looks more attractive from outside compared to being inside, not ideal. It was ok - but I will not be rushing back.

We stopped here on our way to see Hamlet at the Barbican and were seated with drinks before we realised Wagamama was over the road - gutted! The service here was friendly, but the food was bland and lukewarm. Then when we had finished and the table needed clearing and we wanted to get some ice cream -even though the place was almost empty - the waitress ignored us until we went to the counter to ask. I won't be rushing back. It was very uninspiring.

Have been going here since they opened up and it's been good to see the menu and concept being refined since then. The pasta is decent, burgers are pleasant and it's nice being able to get a beer as well.

I visited Caterina 55 when it first opened, and I was so impressed by their food and service that, at the time, I wrote a 5* review for the place (not on TripAdvisor, as I was not registered on the site yet). Unfortunately, I went back last week and was very disappointed. There seem to have been many changes since the café opened: the polenta chips have disappeared from the menu, and all the prices have gone up sharply: for instance, the fried calamari has jumped from £6.90 to a whopping £9.90! I went for the Ligurian burger with pesto, priced @£6.50, and was shocked to learn that, for that hefty price-tag, it came with nothing: no chips, not even some mixed salad leaves! Some people in line next to me had taken chips, and the portion they were served seemed very small for the price (£2.50 I think)... When the burger finally came, I was bitterly disappointed: it was very small, you could barely taste the fontina cheese, and there were not 4 slices of onion or pepper in the whole burger! As I'd complained about the lack of accompaniments, I'd also been given a handful of chopped, cheap iceberg salad with no dressing. Fortunately, there was some oil and some vinegar freely available on the table. Service was poor as well: I'd asked for a glass of tap water with my burger, but as no drink came with it, I assumed they'd forgotten. After I finished eating, I went back to the counter to ask for water, and was then told that the drinking-water faucet had broken down. Why did they not explain this when I first asked for water, or when they delivered the burger? They apologized for the inconvenience, and I wasn't expecting them to give me expensive bottled water instead, but surely they could have at least fetched a jug of potable water from the kitchen for thirsty customers? Anyway, a very disappointing experience that I will not renew any time soon; I might stop by for a tea when I visit the Barbican, but I won't eat there any more.

The restaurant is spacious and relaxing but I was very disappointed with the food. I had the classic lasagne, which lacked its main ingredient - beef! It could have been so much better!

A good place for a quick bite. They have good sized seating area. I tried chicken burger along with a beer & it was nice. The staff was courteous and cheerful. The order did not much time although the place was almost empty.As with most of the restaurants in London, take away is less expensive then eat in.Overall, a good place.

E' nel cuore della city!bellissimo e super comodo anche con accessi spaziosi per i bimbi.Cibo italiano buono anche per bambini. Personale gentilissimo. Veloci e ambiente pulitissimo.Prezzi alti ma giusti per Londra.

Slow Food Italiano con cibo di qualità, servizio e cortesia, pulitissimo e soddisfacente. Consigliatissimo. Si trova nella City, zona piena di banche, di fianco ad una rinomata scuola di musica.

Go here occasionally - convenient for Barbican and the adjacent theatre, it's a cafe/restaurant with a bar for evening functions. Staff are lovely, food is first class - not many sandwich options but then it would only be another Pret. Come here to eat proper food at good prices. Clean / modern interior. Recommended. Only thing I don't like is that the owners / managers always seem to be milling about watching the staff without visibly doing very much themselves. If I feel uncomfortable for the employees, I can't imagine what it's like for them.

Great find near the Barbican. We popped in here for a quick bite before a concert at Milton Court Concert Hall last night. We were very pleasantly surprised by the amazing pizza and wonderfully fresh caprese salad. Nice selection of wine and prossecco by the glass and all reasonably priced. The staff were super friendly and rushed our order so we wouldn't be late for the concert. Can't wait for more Caterina places to pop up around London.

Went for lunch and had pasta along with chicken burger.Both were nice and tasty! The place is clean and in nice location and would go again if I would like a healthy fast food!

As an Italian I'm particularly picky with Italian food. Especially if it is "fast" or "take away", like in Caterina55. But I was delighted to eat some great lasagne al pesto together with a warm and tasty minestrone. Absolutely recommended if you are strolling by the Barbicans!

We visited Barbican Center and we found this Italian restaurant. Wonderful place and delicious food. We suggest especially 'calamari fritti', 'panissa chips', 'lasagne'. Vey very good dishes. Nice place very clean and comfortable with gentle staff. We suggest you. Enjoy your meal.

Ate here with my wife early evening on a Saturday prior to visiting the Barbican theatre. I had the burger and chips whilst my wife had the Ravioli together with a small bottle of wine. The restaurant was quite quiet and our order was served quickly and efficiently. The sevice was very good and the food tasty, just what we wanted. Would eat here again if I was in the area.

Went there for lunch with a friend. Tried the vegetarian burgers and they were really bland and tasteless. We asked for ketchup, which look like it was home made, looked tasted like pure tomato paste without any dressings, not even salt. Really underwhelmed. I hope the other dishes are better but not sure I will risk going back to try them.

Sono entrato da Caterina 55 per caso , le immagini fuori mi hanno attirato . Il cibo è ottimo e l'ambiente è curato e pulitissimo. Da ritornare sicuramente!!!

in giro per la City ho scoperto questo angolo fantastico di liguriapiatti semplici e curati secondo le ricette tradizionali e un occhio di riguardo per io bio e la naturalezza degli ingredienti, ottimo l'hamburger rivisitato. locale con un tocco molto moderno e di design, accattivanete ed ospitale, anche se si vede che c'e' ancora qualche dettaglio da migliorare. lo consiglio a chi di passaggio per la city per un pasto rapido ma di qualità, piacevole!!!!!

Pur essendo un fast food, ha le caratteristiche di uno slow.. l'atmosfera è rilassante e il personale gentile e cordiale. Le lasagne e i ravioli eccellenti.. come pure gli hamburger e i dolci... sono stato attratto dalle indicazioni del cibo naturale, in effetti i piatti che ho provato erano tutti eccellenti.Ci tornerò di sicuro... grazie agli amici che me lo hanno consigliato.

This place is really near to my office and I try to give them a try. I ordered a Diavola Burger and Chicken Nuggets. I've eaten in the past a lot of burgers but I've never tried something taste like this. In this case, and I was really surprise, they make everything in house. In the meat you can feel the spices and you can feel that is not frozen meat. About the nuggets were absolutely amazing. I raccomend you to choose them if you want eat a fresh and natural food.About the restaurant is quite new and look like really clean and tidy. The kitchen manager also was passing to the tables to ask how was everything. Really good experience.

I visited during lunch time and it was pretty quite. It might be because this place is fairly new. The whole idea of the place is healthy fast food. The design and structure imitates those known fast food chains. I've ordered:- chips - £2.50- fried squid - £9.90- veggie burger - £7.90In my opinion chips were way overpriced considering the size, fried squid was served with fried vegetables and was very nice, (however it's been made first and had to wait for the burger and ships therefore when it arrived it was quite soggy), veggie burger was also nice. They also offer organic beef burgers which is nice, however I haven't tried them.Service pretty slow but pleasant.I used taste card and the price was reduced. Otherwise it would be disappointing to pay the full price for the experience.

Sono stato in questo luogo (Ristorante?) prenotatomi dall'agenzia il 5,6,7 Dicembre 2014.Ho saltato la cena del sei ma ho "gustato" le "delizie" del 5 e del 7 dicembre. Era meglio stare digiuni! I cibi regolarmente surgelati e passati al microonde, Golden nugget ( polpette di pollo) senza sapore , frittura di calamari (con cipolle e verdure varie fritti tutti insieme e pieni di olio) dolce ( tiramisù ) prossimo alla scadenza .......occorre altro? Una vera vergogna.

Location imponente ambiente fresco e molto rilassante la musica in sottofondo molto ITALY, cibo ottimo servito con un sorriso che non guasta mai cortesia eccellente consiglio vivamente

I'm not a frequent visitor to London, however popped over to this area with my wife and 3 children (9, 14 & 17 yrs) late afternoon on a Saturday. we decided that we would eat here as it was quiet and we shouldn't have to wait too long. We didn't see any menu outside and thought that it was a standard restaurant, only on entering did we realise that it was a fast food style eatery.The staff were helpful and the choice of food perfectly reasonable, we choose a variety of options, Pest burger, vegetarian lasagne, chicken/pollenta nuggets & chips as well as pear & chocolate cake and Pana Cotta. All of which was very tasty, especially the chips and though not huge portions they were adequate. The only disappointment was the coffee (it was average) as I would have expected it to be top notch considering it was an Italian eatery.Overall I felt that this was a pleasant experience at a reasonable price and if the children are happy with their food then that is always a good sign.

I had been thinking about trying this place for a while as it is next to my office, but given that it always seemed to be empty and that the vegetarian lasagne that had been given away as samples outside one week were bland at best I had steered clear. But given it was raining today I decided to give them a try, I decided to go for the burger as you cannot really go wrong with a burger and chips can you? Well it appears that I was wrong, the burger was possibly one of the worst I have ever had, this includes from a dodgy van outside a football ground. The burger was thin, tasteless and given the competition around from Byron, Patty and Bun and even M&S cafe who offer a far superior burger and chips for 5 pounds as compared to this rubbish for 8.Also the chips were a disgrace, 2.50 for a tiny portion of chips is not acceptable.McDonalds is far cheaper and far far tastier, Byron and Patty and Bun are on another planet in comparison as is the M&S Cafe burger.So in conclusion this place is empty because it offers poor food, I was the only person in this restaurant for a reason and I will not be going back.I suggest that management bring in a new menu and raise their game as otherwise I cannot see this place lasting much longer.

I found your place in Morgate couple of weeks ago and I really enjoy the great quality of food you are preparing there, but also the interior, with all the quotes on the walls etc.So far, my favorites are: a salad with spelt and a lasagna with spinach I think it was. And of course italian natural juices (succo di pera etc.)From the first time I walked in there, couple of weeks ago, I could guess straight away that it must have been an Italian place. Many items half price after 7pm so excellent value! The hamburger was well received by my son, I had a decent chicken caesar salad. The coffee was mediocre though and shouldn't be for an italian!The Tiramisu was very good indeed.

This was disgusting, over-priced food. Ordered two burgers, and chick pea chips, the wrong burgers came, then when the right ones arrived they were inedible. Like spam. Truly revolting, and really expensive. The chips were also disgusting. I didn't know it was possible to get such simple food like burger and chips do very wrong! Do not go here.

Am sitting in Caterina 55 now. I'm so disappointed that I am forced to write this review immediately. I've just ordered vegetarian lasagne.. Firstly this is not anyone's definition of lasagne. The description states 'oozing with bechamel sauce'..what I have is a dry pasta layer with a suggestion of potato and herb..more like a small piece of fritatta The slice is so small that I can honestly say I've had larger tasters as freebies at stations! For this I paid £6!! The only redeeming feature is the friendly staff. I'm now off to find something to eat - elsewhere!

Visited the Barbican Centre, we stopped by in this new Italian place in Moorgate. The staff were very helpful and friendly.We ordered the double cheeseburger (with Italian scamorza cheese. I never found the scamorza cheese as an option anywhere, DELICIOUS) and the vegetarian burger, and also this pastry filled with spinach, ricotta and parmesan and the chickpeas stick fried that look like fat fries but they're actually made of chickpeas, very nice. The ketchup and mayo were home made.We shared a tiramisù as dessert cause it looked to delicious to say no :)Everything was extra good and with a nice and different touch. We spent less than £20 altogether (incl. drinks) and we were full! In my opinion for an organic restaurant is a very very good price. If you shop organic you know what I mean!Nice decor and you can tell is very clean.

Caterina55 is the kind of restaurant where you find everything you need. They have got the full package. Is perfectly located, the design is great, such a warm atmosphere when you get in and you could not ask for more about the food. The menu is very different from what you would expect. There is, of course Lasagna, Pasta, Panini and some "big guys" in terms of famous italian dishes, but also there they are unique. The products taste so fresh, light and absolutely delicious. In addition we found very unique dishes, the Panissa fries are just WOW! Never tried something like it. Much better that a classic potato fry and so much healthier, it's actually made of chickpeas which is nothing but healthy. The fried Calamari are much better than a Starred fine dining restaurant you get them for a third of the price (if not less). The team is so welcoming, so nice and prepared on the dishes, they know their stuff. Good music in the background (well, they are next to the Guildhall, they must do:). All their products are natural and most of them organic (still an information provided by the staff). I will definitely go back to this restaurant and recommend to anyone. It's so close to the barbican, for both pre-shows or/and after shows this is the best choice.

Questo fast food restaurant aperto da pochi mesi in questa zona commerciale di London ha dei prezzi davvero irrisori e il cibo è abbastanza curato, anche se non conoscono la differenza tra tortiglioni e penne e li invertono nei piatti... Strano... Eppure sono italiani... Davvero buona la panissa fritta ed anche i gnocchi fritti :-)

My first visit to this fabulous fast food restaurant. It was a great experience and well worth every penny. The food was excellent and varied. The portions were perfect - enough to give you the flavour but not so much that you couldn't enjoy each course. The desserts were tremendous and totally delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive and the wines excellent. I would definately recommend it to others and would go again!
