Castlefields Fish Bar in Halton

Was shocked to see it has a good hygiene rating of 2 the only reason I checked was I was very poorly after a chicken mushroom. Might not use until there hygiene improves some what.

Once amazing chippy, but lately a lot of penny pinching has happened, prices increase monthly, quality has decreased. (BBQ ribs are a joke now for example, no longer long ribs but small pieces) chips with meals now come in a small tray unless you pay extra. Shame because it was the best chippy around.

Worst Chippy in runcorn used to be great but now s--t if you order beef curry with chips you now get a child,s portion in a tray used to be a bag off regular chips why the cost off potatoes have gone up and the curry meal is 70% onions and 30% meat

Chicken chow mein, fried rice, chicken balls all fresh, hot a nicest chippy I’ve had in ages

My husband called in today Tuesday ,for a Special Chop Suey and Fried Rice,it was absolutely vile nothing like we have usually had ,the fried rice was brown and dry and tasteless,as for the special Chop Suey that was also tasteless nothing special about it,it went in the bin after 2 mouthfulls a total waste of money,we won't go again

Was decent about a year ago but standards seem to be slipping. The fish is far too oily on two times I've had recently. Same with the fried rice dishes , too much oil used and was also overly salted ( fried rice shouldn't be too salty) and this is compared to other Chinese chip shops. When I had same dishes over a year ago this wasn't the case. Fish was crispy and the fried rice was not too oily. Not sure if different cooks or what but they need to get back to the standard they were 12 months ago. Shame

I recommend the A salt & pepper munch £18 you will get more than you bargain for, it's not small, chop suey roll is a meal in it's self, sausage dinner ok, but the freebies were not expected, it looks like our Friday nights are sorted.

Absolutely awful food! ordered fish and peas and the fish was soggy instead crispy as a battered fish should be. also got a burger and chips expecting it to have at least lettuce and cheese, nope! it was dry hard and might aswell have just been a piece of slate on a bun, not one piece of cheese on it, not even sauce! now thats a crime against humanity if you ask me. and the curry and fried rice was underwhelming and boring. I 100% RECOMMEND YOU GO ELSEWHERE. Utterly disgusting!

asked for a chees burger with chips and salad and BBQ sorce, all they gave me was chips and a burger thats was it. so if your are odering aleast say what you clearly.

Fantastic fish, great chips and lovely curry sauce! I’ve lived in Runcorn for 10years but only discovered this place tonight, in fact it’s the 1st chippy in the area where I’ve not been disappointed! Defo be back.

Ordered sp chowmein crispy chicken kung po and SS chicken .Food tasted nice apart from chips (Not hot) with delivery! Don't expect to pay delivery for chips to be cold .that needs to be addressed .otherwise perfect !

Food has gone down hill here. When you phone they always pick up the phone then put it straight back down. Very frustrating and not very professional. The Peas are like bullets. Don't order chips and gravy or chips and curry your lucky if the sauce covers a few chips. Ordered a savoury cake lucky it was for the dog as it was burnt. The Chinese meals aren't as nice as they was maybe they have a new chef I think after using this chippy for the last 2 years it's time to go somewhere else.

Really good chippy. Been told to go here loads but never listened, I finally went last week and it was unreal. Food was perfect. Couldn't complain about anything. Will be back

We ordered at half 4 and by 6 o'clock still no food rang 10 times to see what's going on and they hang up on you

Had set meal Saturday night very obliging changed one dish for me it was delicious chicken and the beef were nice and tender the rest was tasty and plentiful knocked one star off because the chips were not very hot

Never have anything ready, fish was overcooked, peas are driest ive ever had oil needs changing as everything is cooked in it and its burnt, pies are microwaved they never have steak puddings and its also cash only.To sum it up its not the best

Chips are cooked to perfection and no soked in fat

Not the worst chippy in the world, the staff are friendly and the prices aren't bad. Some of the food is quite nice but usually find the chips to be over cooked and very greasy.

Don’t have fish and chips very often but on the occasions we do it’s well worth a trip here. Always beautifully cooked with good portions and very friendly service

Fab service. The food is so fresh and delicious, & to find somewhere that does Halloumi kebabs is perfect! Highly recommend this place :)

Ordered 4 kebabs got home and none of them had bread , I've eaten hebab all over the world , and never had to order bread with it , it's like ordering potato with chips

Just had Fish and chips from Castlefields Fish Bar, it was superb, the Cod was perfectly cooked and very tasty, the chips were also very good ,and the large portion size would feed 3 people. We will be visiting again soon

this fish + chip takeaway service is not a chinese but do kebabs , sausages , burgers , fish cakes , scallops , spam fritters , battered burgers , battered sausage , ribs , drinks of cold cans + bottles for refreshments available.
