went in ordered beef fried rice -fish- chips-curry-kebab meat. only 3 people in so no rush but the food was cold, curry was small chips looked old the kebab was dripping with fat would i go again ,NO.

I know food has gone up in price massively but to pay £9.00 for some chips and donner meat and a small curry sauce is a bit much.

Lovely food, best chippy meal I've had in a long time. Worth a visit!

Dry kebab, came with a few chips on top even though not asked for, decent portions but not the best for value.

Update: Sad to say, after being open all new post major refurb, the food is now regularly bad. Top layer of chips good, then the rest are alway a combined ball of mushy potato. Gravy much thinner with a strange aftertaste. 3rd visit (we don't go every week either) in a row where again we've left majority and/or both have felt rotten after it, even into next day. Gutted because just as it closed for refurb it really was at its best food wise. Our biggest issue is the chips. The current chips feel, look and taste like they've been on colder fry. They're bright white, sloppy but really hot (usually a positive). There's zero crisp and you can see the fat on carton. ........................................ Over last couple years there's been change and it's a bit of a lottery on what the result will be. It's never awful but tonight's meal is 3rd (or even more) where everything is saturated in grease. None of us finished anything. It's such a shame because you can go and it's REALLY lovely!

Some of these reviews are really weird. There's half a dozen local chippys that serve dog food, but this isn't one if them! Never had a bad order, fish is great, chips are hot and the salt and pepper chicken is a belter.

Fantastic service! Ordered online for pickup and was told to collect in 5 mins. Food was ready when we got there and was still super hot when we got it home. All the food we ordered was delicious....especially the singapore chow mein and would highly recommend. Cannot fault the quick efficient service or the food. Well done guys!! This will now be my new go to take away

Didn’t really enjoy the food, chips where under cooked so we had to put them into our own fryer, the large hot curry wasn’t really large or hot. The mixed kebab was full of little bits of chicken and hardly any Donner meat. And the person serving didn’t crack a smile..

Tried ringing to place an order and they don't even know what's on there own menu, rude arrogant and incompetent sums up these jokers. Avoid at all costs

Not too bad. Service seemed a bit disorganised, but when finally served, the fish was pretty decent.

Came in a couple of times and all was fine,but called in an a oldest woman was behind the counter, i paid the other woman, then as the older woman passed me my order she said that i must pay for my order ,i told her that i have paid she said pay up or no food, the other woman then came out and she told her that i had already paid, the older woman then released the order and then walked away, but when the lads are serving they are polite.

I went here tonight and was extremely disappointed with all the meals I received one of which was popcorn chicken that my daughter ate that was rotten! I understand sometimes you have an off day or get a dodgy batch of food. However when I rang to rectify this I got shouted at spoken to in a rude manner and the phone hung up.... At which point I decided to return the rotten meal to the shop to give them a chance to rectify once again spoken to rudely and offered no apology or resolution... Will not be returning and will be contacting environmental health... It's not the quality of the food that upset me, rather the attitude of the manager and the unwillingness to accept constructive criticism or even attempt to resolve the issue. Instead it was my fault as he's served X amount of that meal tonight with no complaints so its just me trying to con all of the local chippies ( his words/ excuse to me). I am not one for brandishing negativity on businesses especially when everyone is struggling at the moment but I am shocked at the way I have been spoken to this evening! Such poor quality food and management what a shame, could of been a really nice chippy with the new refurbishment!

Decided to try festival way chippy tonight for the first time since the relaunch. When arriving there was a que out of the door but it moved swiftly. The staff served quickly, efficiently and as a team while being polite and brillant. Took my order swiftly and had it ready really quickly. I live less then 10 minutes on foot from the chippy and the food was still hot and tasted great 👍 absolutely recommend and we will be coming back. The only downside I can say is the prices of things were slightly higher than they used to be but not as high as some places. Keep up the good work guys.

All I can say is drastic improvements to the shop :) came in tonight and the chinese was spot on i tried the salt an pepper chicken with salt and pepper chips the Mrs’s had a salt and pepper noodle box, i cant wait to start trying the rest of the menu, big thumbs up from me! KEEP IT UP

Since having a refurb it seems to be quite popular , however they have added a Chinese menu . So I opted for chicken chow mein...bad decision , only Chinese can do a Chinese , so I would avoid.. I ended up binning most of it , not very good at all...it's an English chippy so my advice would be stick with the English menu..

Went Tuesday 25th April 2023 as just checked my bank statement and was really nice, fish and chips were perfect. This week went Friday 28th April an the chips were full of grease and mixed with burnt ones. The end of the fish was not battered which ended up cremated and the paper was dripping with grease. Pressing down on the batter just released even more grease. Was hoping this would have been the go to chip shop in Runcorn as all the rest are just like the above decription. Quality is better than quantity

Been for tea the past 2 nights and honestly can't complain. Chinese meals were lovely and got plenty for your money. Tonight we got the salt and pepper share box and it was gorgeous! So much food for a really good price. Food was lovely and hot and didn't wait too long.

The food was horrific. Cold soggy fries and Kebab strips so tough it was impossible to chew. It tasted like reheated food that was cooked about a week ago and drenched in so much fat that the bag fell apart.

Poor tonight kebab was burnt no salad on it and no chilli sauce and greasy 😡

Long wait for food , telephone order and still waited 25 minutes, only to get salty an soggy food absolutely dripping in oil , don’t think we’ll be back anytime soon

Just had food for the first time, do they not cook hot food? Chips warm, fishcake cold and awful, curry cold. Will never go again, such a waste of money

When you hear they are award winning you expect something to be the best, look the best, taste the best, and this chip shop lives up to the name. The fish supper served in a box is heaven.

The fish was beautifully cooked, we asked for lightly battered, well cooked fish and got exactly that. The chips were delicious as were the mushy peas. The Chip Shop was spotless and the staff were very nice. My only niggle is the fish wasn't drained at all, it came out of the fryer and was wrapped up straight away. When we got it home it had completely steeped through the paper and was coating the carrier bag!!! I will still get food from them but I'll ask for the fish to be drained for a couple of minutes before wrapping. It ended up being a lovely meal so we will definitely be back.

Oh no! What have you guys done? Used to be the best Fish and MUSHY peas. I get things change but you don't get rid of your signature meal. Same as all the rest now and sorry they offer more. No more Fessy way chippy for me!

Not been for years and not many places left where you can buy decent fish and chips in the town. Service very good and well organised with Covid restrictions in place.

Lovely food .... Being using this chippy since 1979 and still as good today as it was then. Food ordering and collection is safe and chippy has taken steps by putting in benches and heaters for while you wait. Hence 5 Stars 👍

Changed owners recently. More expensive and didn't particularly like meal usually buy which is a chicken curry. Will try again though coz more options wud like to trial.

Only had the Haddock and Chips with mild curry sauce (on several occasions) and it's been delicious each time. Can pay by card too.

What happened today??? Ordered chips and sausage with baked beans when I got home found order wrong got chips sausage and mushy peas. Went back to change to original order. When I got home I found the order was wrong again. Chips and baked beans WHAT NO SAUSAGE!!!!! To be fair generally it's a great chippy lovely food and great staff but today very disappointed.

Good crispy fish cooked to order. The service is quick and staff very pleasant and organised. They also seeve peoper mussy peas, not like bullets I've had elsewhere.

It has been revamped and is very clean,food is nice with lots of choice. Nostalgia makes me wish it had been kept the same.

This is a very clean fish and chip shop with a good variety of fish to choose from and the chips are excellent well worth a visit to a very rarely seen English chippy.

Worst chippy in Runcorn!! Not organised at all with their orders or workers. Dirt everywhere, was even fly’s in the chip fryer!! They can’t understand costumers, so get orders wrong there’s only one English worker working. I’ve saw this all first hand, I worked there and it was the most disgusting, I’ll mannered chippy I’ve ever came across. It was my first job working in fezzy way chippy and it was a nightmare, constantly shouting at me expecting me to get it all right the first time I tried. They had no faith in me at all, sacked me off because I didn’t turn up for one shift, however I rang up and told them I wasn’t able to make it as I was in agony and couldn’t move as well as throwing up everywhere. They didn’t like that I didn’t come in, and preferred for me to come in and make all the costumers and workers sick too. So because I didn’t want to make everyone sick, they fired me. Absolute joke.

Tried the liver dinner. Plenty of it but was tasteless fish and chips looked ok. Back to castle rise for me.
