Castle Moil Restaurant in Highland

We visited for supper and was very happy with our food I had macaroni cheese which didn’t come with garlic bread or chips and had to add a side which was a downside but was so worth it, bf had the steak pie which looked and tasted the part! He then had sticky toffee pudding which wasn’t to his liking as the treacle was quite overpowering and he struggled to finish it. But overall great experience it’s a busy wee place and it has amazing views of the Skye bridge

We went two tea times one after the other as we enjoyed it so much. Apart from the lovely view, the food was absolutely yummy. I had the Haggis, Neeps and Tatties both nights, and my son loved the burgers. I also treated myself to a Cranachan which was delicious. A really good menu to choose from and the staff are all so nice, and the wine was good, its definitely one to go back to.

We went for dinner on a Tuesday night and it was pretty busy. Everything we ordered was out so we had the steak pie and tofu. Both were fine, the salmon pate starter was better. Service was friendly.

We visited the restaurant with our dog, who was made welcome too. The place was clean and the staff very friendly. We ordered fish and chips. Slightly expensive but well cooked and delicious. Could almost have come straight of the boat.

Fun spot to eat at. We went for dinner so I don't know how the bar is. It was nice to sit outside by the water and eat, food was good!

Had a long weekend on Skye and went here for dinner in the evening,service was very prompt and friendly, the food itself was very good indeed,so good we went back the next night !! We also landed lucky as there was live music on,fantastic atmosphere, great memories !

Empty when we arrived, but two coaches turned up as we sat down. A little disappointed it was self service and our bread was probably yesterday's, BUT the Cullen skin was great and the staff were all pleasant.

My sister and I enjoyed a quiet moment here while our families were out on The Spirit of Adventure fishing cruise. The bar staff were wonderful! So sweet. We enjoyed the best sticky toffee pudding I've had yet in the UK and a cuppa. The place was clean, warm and inviting. The service perfect and the food delicious. Couldn't ask for more.

We went here for a meal with some trepidation after a disappointing visit some years ago but were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was quite busy both inside and out but the service was quick and the staff were pleasant. I had mac & cheese with langoustines,not a combination I'd tried before but it was excellent. Other half had steak pie which he said was well filled and tasty. It's quite difficult to find somewhere for a good evening meal in this corner of Skye but this is worth a visit.

They take dogs, which was helpful, as we were meeting family who had two dogs. Food was average, but well cooked. Staff were friendly, and service fairly quick. Very limited wine list, apart from beer, so only drank water, but nice clean surroundings. Would have gone again, but they closed for winter the next day !!!

We went in to watch football so were in public bar. Food was excellent I had fish and chips my wife had chilli Nachos both were delicious. Our dog was made welcome and offered a dog bowl right away.

Popped in yesterday on the way to Portree, ordered 2 bowls of Cullen skin . I have since learned this is a struggling business but if the soup they served yesterday is anything to go by I’m not surprised. Cullen skink is a Scottish delicacy full of smoked fish, white fish, prawns, mussels, potatoes, onions - minimum - every spoonful should be a hot creamy Smokey belly warming mouthful. As it turned out, We paid £ 13 for 2 bowls of lukewarm, tasteless thick hot milk and a few squares of potato. Oh and we were asked to “put our hand up” when the order what shouted out as ready. No wonder this business is on its knees. Cullen Skink it wasn’t. An affront to Scottish cooking it definitely was!

This is a wonderful establishment, clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and offered quick service. The food was delicious! My first taste of Cullen skink and it was great!

Our bus tour start here for lunch on a very windy and rainy day. The Cullen Skink absolutely hit the spot. This is a cafeteria style restaurant with table service for items that require a bit of a wait. Service is warm and friendly as can be expected in the Highlands. I would definitely stop in again if ever in the area.

Lovely menu at not to expensive prices, nice "varanda" to sit out side and enjoy the town square activities in Portree.

The menu provides good wholesome pub-grub which was enjoyable. Despite being busy the food came quickly and the service was very good.

We we staying in Kyleakin for 2 nights while visiting the Isle of Skye. This was a convenient place to have dinner. The cost was very reasonable and the food was good but nothing special.. The location was very good overlooking the water and the Skye Bridge.

Stopped here for lunch with 2 friends after coming over the bridge, it’s a great location for a restaurant with good views across the water. Inside the self ordering system is easy however there is little choice on the menu. We all ordered the fish & chips and it was good however did not taste as fresh as other places we had eaten on our trip. Portion sizes are very good though! This place has lots of potential.

In the pouring rain we found this restaurant and were so glad we did. It is a well organised self-service style restaurant and when your order needs to come from the back it does not take long. We had cullen skink which was very good.There is a pub next door for those who want something stronger.They were quick to clear tables allowing new guests to be seated. It was a warm, dry friendly place to have a good lunch out of the terrible weather.

Hay que pedir en barra y pagar previamente. Puedes elegir hamburguesas, salmón ahumado, fish&chips.... Luego te lo acercan a la mesa. Tiene muy buenas vistas

Restaurante mesmo à entrada de Skye, pela ponte, foi o nosso último local a visitar. Comemos a sopa do dia (estava excelente um pouco cara para sopa), BBQ pulled pork (quantidade generosa, saborosa, contudo havia demasiado pão), bear battered haddock (mudem-lhe o nome mas é sempre fish and chips) e backon & chess hamburger (os miúdos gostaram). Como sobremesa, uma tarte de maçã, muito boa, e gelado escocês de baunilha, também bom. Finalmente um black coffee with an expresso shot, porque tinha duas horas de condução pela frente e o dia tinha começado muito cedo. Pagamos cerca de 80£ (bebemos água, porque o álcool daria sono).

No nonense good food with friendly service and an option of sitting outdoors if you so desire to look over the water. A good sign was the line of 25 people

Ristorante posizionato nel primo paese dell’isola di Skye. Ambiente grande e accogliente. Quando siamo arrivati era tutto occupato, nell’attesa la cameriera ci ha dato un numero per le priorità e nel giro di 10 minuti siamo stati chiamati.  Menu tipico scozzese con possibilità di mangiare alla carta o scegliere tra la lista delle specialties del giorno. Cibo buono, servizio ottimo e rapido. Prezzo nella media.

Vi spiste her en enkelt gang. Vi fik en middelmådig haggis og en stor fisketallerken. Den sidste var spændende men manglede lidt brød til, da fiskene var fede.

Castle Moil is an average pub/restaurant that serves hearty meals at a decent price. The staff were friendly and overall it was an okay experience. The thing is, there just isn't enough options for food in this area. Castle Moil is the best restuant in a list of underwhelming options.

There are not many places one can return to after 50 years and find them much as you remembered - but in the best of ways. Stopped in here for coffee after a week on nearby Raasay, and while it's been well maintained, the layout and feel of the hotel hadn't really changed much from my student days when, working in a nearby guest house for the summer, I spent quite a bit of off duty time with some of the local young people who'd befriended my colleague and me - granted more often in the bar!

This restaurant , you cant book , looking out over the water is basic but with tasty food at a good price . Lovely helpful staff . We enjoyed it a lot .

Having used this restaurant on prior visits there was no doubt about eating there again and I wasn't disappointed.

We ate here over Saucy Mary’s solely for the views. The back portion of the restaurant - where the bar is - faces the waterfront, and made for excellent views of the sunset.

Driving over to Skye, this was a useful position by the Loch, with a view of the bridge. It is also a watering hole for coaches and we were lucky enough to just beat a coach and managed to sit down with our drinks before the queue started! We only had coffees and they were out of a machine ....so nothing special. The restaurant dealt very well with the large number of people, who all wanted hot food, so they are obviously used to it.

We had two lovely dinners here. Last order is at 8. 15 PM so ge there quickly! Great views of the water, good food and good pricing. Service is friendly and prompt. Seafood is from the water to your plate! Try the langoustines!

Der Blick auf die Skye Bridge ist leider eines der wenigen Highlights in diesem Restaurant. Durch den Self Service fühlt man sich wie in einer Kantine, was die Preise dann auf einmal doch etwas zu hoch erscheinen lässt. Das Essen (Cheeseburger mit Pommes + Schinken-Käse-Baguette) war nicht überwältigend gut, aber mit viel Ketchup aus der Tüte durchaus essbar. Alles in allem würden wir das nächste mal eher nach einem anderen Lokal suchen.

Nice wee place. Lovely tartan carpet. Service was good. We had fish & chips and the chilli, then treacle tart (yes!) and icecream cake for pudding. Lovely. Kyleakin does not offer too much choice for eating out... you will be in good hands here.

Es un restaurante muy sencillo con muy pocos platillos del dia. Una mezcla de clientes locales y de turistas.

En Kyleakin y si no quieres coger coche no hay mucho donde elegir y el Castle Moil es la mejor opción, tienen comida casera y de la zona, el servicio es agradable, la cocina cierra un poco mas tarde de lo normal por esos lares y además integra tambien un pub en el que despues de cenar puedes echarte una buena cerveza o un hot toddy como hicimos nosotros. El precio unas 12-15 libras por persona.

A last minute decision to eat here, and the restaurant was very busy. It was a large place and good to see a lot of space between tables.

This restaurant and pub is great for food and drinks. The restaurant is closed in the afternoon so we ate in the pub. You need to go to the pub for drinks and food orders and the wait staff will bring your food to you.

Diciamo che non c'è molta scelta nel paesino, e mi sento di dire che questo è la migliore..il cibo non è male, soprattutto il pesce. Ma per quanto riguarda il personale/servizio non ci siamo.

Für einen schnellen Lunch sehr gut geeignet, da es die Mannschaft versteht viele Gäste in kurzer Zeit zufriedenstellen. Für ein Abendessen zu zweit aber nicht sehr gemütlich. Das Restaurant erinnerte mich sehr an unsere Restaurants in den Skigebieten. Schnell, laut und nicht sehr gemütlich.

After a day climbing The Old Man of Storr and touring the Trotternish Pennisula, crossing the Quiraing (in Gaelic: A' Chuith-Raing), visiting Uig, Dunvegan Castle and getting back to our accommodation it was time to eat. This restaurant provided good, wholesome, home cooked Tomato and Courgette soup that was just delicious. The bruschetta used various colours of tomato and then the Haddock was fresh and filling. Combined with the Pulled Pork and Ciabatta with chips, we didn't need to snack later. Good food at a good value.

Came here every night whilst staying in Kyleakin last week with my mom and sister . Good value for money and the fish was absolutely beautiful . Very clean and the staff were pleasant . Good choice of menu and would recommend the hot salmon salad

Di passaggio per l'isola di Skye ci siamo fermati per una cena e ci siamo trovati molto bene, posto accogliente e ottimo servizio giovane e piacevole!

No idea how this place has the rating it has. We were hungry so any food should've tasted awesome and we're not picky eaters.

Our room was close to this restaurant. Staff was very kind and helpful. Prices are normal for scotland. Our food (meat and tooooo many potatos) was average, nothing unforgettable. Anyway not a bad choice.

The food was good and the service helpful and kind. You can find some locals there, which always is for me a good signal. Finally, the views are wonderful and I think that it is (by far) the best option in the village.

We zijn in de restaurant terecht gekomen na een boot tocht op het water. Het was lekker eten en leuke bediening. Het had veel aanloop, ook al ligt het niet op de standaard route. Was gezellig met locals en toeristen. Fijne en smaakvolle afsluiting van de middag.

Un petit restaurant de bord de mer qui propose une assiette de fruits de mer honnête pour un prix raisonnable. Choissisez plutôt la partie restaurant que la partie pub : si la nourriture est là même l'ambiance y est plus calme.

Siamo stati la seconda sera a Skye per cena. Il ristorante era pieno e ci hanno dirottato sul pub dove si poteva comunque mangiare gli stessi piatti serviti al ristorante. Ovviamente in questo contesto la serata si è rivelata più allegra e meno formale. Abbiamo mangiato comunque bene e per un prezzo giusto.

Ci sono pochi posti dove mangiare ma devo dire che la qualità è molto buona e i prezzi non sono elevatissimi. Ottimo piatto di scampi con le immancabili patatine e una birra locale. Vicino al mare con vista molto suggestiva. Consigliato

Had to stop in and grab a few pints with my brothers. The location of this place is great and the views are incredible. We loved the staff and would definitely go back. The place was packed with people having a good time.

Abbiamo cenato in questo ristorante per due sere di fila. Poiché tutti i ristoranti nella zona erano già pieni è stata una scelta abbastanza obbligata che però si è rivelata vincente. I piatti, di cucina locale, sono abbondanti ma soprattutto cucinati molto bene. Le zuppe sono una specialità da provare. Il personale è giovane, gentile ed efficiente e pronto a venire incontro a qualsiasi esigenza dei clienti. Squisito il piatto di salsicce e purè di patate con un' ottima crema di cipolle. Il servizio è rapido.

Had an evening meal at the restaurant, got there just after eight fairly full but got a table straight away. We all had fish n chips with peas which was very good, all washed down with a couple of pints. Staff all very friendly and efficient, all reasonably priced.

Visited here on a busy Sunday evening. Staff managed to fit us in and were very attentive. Hubby ordered the seafood platter (all cold) and delicious! Quite a pricey dish at £22 but good value as so much on it. Son is vegan and the waitress was able to bring a sheet saying what was in each dish - very impressed! He was able to have the soup which was vegan, followed by a curry dish. All very good. I had 2 starters instead of starter and main. The Cullen skink was really good. Thick and creamy with plenty of fish. However, the only down side of the meal was the haggis dish. Was obviously a slice of microwaved haggis , mushed a little in a dish and served with 3 dry oatcakes and a wee tot of whisky. It was very poor - especially compared to the rest of the meal so would advise to avoid.. The staff are very friendly and helpful. And the view from a window table over to the Skye bridge is stunning! Get there early as they don't take reservations and close at 8.30pm. (Be there for 8pm - we saw some people being turned away after 8pm. But also saw a foreign couple being let in quite late though!)

Busy bustling restaurant with a simple menu but enough choice, no kids menu but were happy with children sharing dishes and very accommodating. The langoustines were very good and they didn't skimp on the portion size.

En todo nuestro viaje por Escocia, no encontramos pescado fresco, ni siquiera el salmón, ahumado siempre. Me parece raro y seguramente donde lo sirvan sea caro de narices. Aquí cenamos bastante bien. De primeros sopa del día que resultó ser una crema de puerros bastante buena y de segundo pedimos langostinos que era lo único que ofrecían del mar... estaba también bueno, fresco, lo único que no eran langostinos, eran cigalas....

Our family stopped in here as we were passing by. The food was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Well priced with attentive and helpful staff Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Fuimos a cenar 2 noches,hay variedad de comidas en el menú pero tampoco probé nada excelente,El servicio bueno las camareras muy amables.

We visited here for dinner while we stayed in Kyleakin. We were usually too hungry to wait until 6 to try the King's Arm - and we knew that the food here could be depended on to be freshly prepared and very good.

Great wee place should you be staying close by. We arrived 45 mins before food stopped being served. The staff were most welcoming and their service was good although they were busy. Food was good especially the fish which was cooked to perfection. Burgers were a favourite for my partner and son and well worth every penny. My daughters opted for a raspberry and white chocolate ice cream cake for dessert, this went down a treat and after I sampled a taste I knew why. Prices were fab too. Well fed and well pleased.

The menu choices were few. The langostines were freshly caught and prepared with garlic and butter- yum. The spotted dick dessert was the subject of many laughs and highly delicious- bread puddinglike with custardy sauce.Our waiter Ross was wonderful with suggestions. Ate there both nites of our stay

Ci sono stata a cena con una compagnia di ragazzi per due sere di fila, qundi mi son fatta un'idea più che chiara del posto. Premetto, se cercate ninnoli e desing in un ristorante fatevi un picnik con vista porto perchè questo posto è spartano e frequentato dalla gente locale (super amichevoli oltretutto, una sfida a biliardo è d'obbligo). Si ordina al bancone e poi ci si accomoda dove si vuole, ho preso la prima sera fish&chips; e la sera dopo sausages and mash, il tutto sempre accompagnato da una buona tennent's. Il pesce forse il più buono e fresco che ho mangiato, ed io di fish&chips; mi ritengo ormai una cultrice, le salsicce col purè, mamma mia, da usare il purè come crema di bellezza assieme alla salsa che vi danno. Tutto veramente buono, prezzi veramente ridicoli per le porzioni maestose. Le persone che ci lavorano son sempre sorridenti, ma dalla gente scozese puoi aspettarti sempre e comunque allegria e benvenuto.

This is convenient, with a large car park. However this attracts coaches. There is also a gift shop. The tea was fine. Ordinary surroundings, not making the most of being adjacent to the Skye bridge.

Pub à l’ambiance écossaise où on mange local avec des locaux ! Nourriture correcte (saumon, fish & chips), vue sur le pont reliant la côte à Skye, billard à disposition. Sympa.

Our b&b; proprietor suggested we eat here, easy walking distance from the b&b;, instead of driving to Broadmore. So glad we took his recommendation as the fish and chips were very good and the langoustines were fresh. It's right on the water so you have...

Visited this place tonight after seeing that it was rated third in Kyleakin on here. Opened the door and I was greeted with a smile and told to sit where I liked. The menu was handed to me and the friendly waitress came over five minutes later to take my order. I had the chilli complemented with a fruit cidre. The food was served very quickly and were a considerable size. Very tasty and freshly prepared. Reasonably priced, you can't grumble at £13.50 for home cooked meal and beer! Will be visiting again very soon. Thanks very much!

In 3 days we went twice for lunch and every time it pleased us very much. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The food is good, piping hot and tasty. We liked the very "Scottish" awareness and atmosphere!!

We were hungry after a boat tour. Of the 3 restaurants we tried over two days in the neibourhood this was the one I prefered. Its was busy but there was enough tables and the food selection was good. The service as well. Its clean. There is a shop next door for souvenirs and general items. Everyone liked what they ate. No surprises. Priced well. Good selection, even gluten free dessert, which was delicious. You go make your selection, bring back your drinks and they deliver the food not long after. Baked potato with pramn Mary Rose, Fish and chips....and obviously in the region you'd prefer anything from the waters....

Wow food here is amazing huge portions all freshly cooked . Cullen skink delicious served with lovely crusty bread barbecue chicken ribs melted in your mouth . Beer battered fish n chips was stunning all served with fresh salad peas . Chilli just right didn't have dessert as so full friendly efficient staff will be sure to come again on our next visit to Kyleakin.

Started of great with the smoked salmon 5/5, traditional fish n chips for main 4/5 chips lacked quality, chocolate fondant for desert 2/5 nice taste but clearly microwaved as it was served to table within 3 mins of ordering, on the upside service staff were cute.

Non sono il tipo che ama la loro cucina, e quella sera cenammo nel bar e non nel ristorante, però i due piatti erano buoni, un po pesanti però buoni, e molto buona anche la birra. Mi è piaciuto di più il bar tipico dei paesini del nord vicino il mare che il cibo....cmq ci tornerei...

Locale semplice ma carino. Personale disponibile e cortese. Vari piatti tra terra e pesce (sconsigliato ai vegetariani) e tutti molto buoni, anche i dolci sono davvero buoni, anche se la maggior parte sono a base di gelato che visto il posto sembra un po' strano. Unica pecca per noi italiani è che chiude prestissimo alle 20:30 tutti fuori, ma non vi preoccupate annesso c'è il bar con delle ottime birre locali!

My friend and I ate here two nights in a row. One night I had sausage and mashed potatoes, which was delicious. I loved the haddock and chips the next night. The server called for a taxi for us both nights.

I've been to a few fish and chips restaurants in london. Came to a point that fish and chips would just be something you get if you're in a hurry. But when i tried their fish and chips, it was totally different. The batter was super crispy. You can actually hear it crackling when you slice into it. The haddock was firm yet tender. It wasn't greasy at all.

Food was terrific but service was up and down. They get busy when all the tours are in town at...

Not a great place for vegetarians...their two non meat offerings were bland and unexciting....my husband enjoyed his meal (mini-lobster/prawn type...
