Castle Gate Indian Restaurant in Lincoln

Shocking. I don’t know whether the food or customer service was worse. The order itself had half the rice, the garlic naan we ordered was plain and our Bhuna was watery and flavourless and the food was cold on arrival. We called the restaurant to let them know our concerns and request for a replacement, where we was told that it had to be discussed by three people and they would call back but proceeded to just hang up on us. When asking for the manager, we were told they were making deliveries, so I presume it was his child who delivered our food. We had to call up 15 minutes later to figure out if we would actually get our food. This is where we were told the Chef made up excuses on the state of food… one being the Bhuna was watery because of steam, which is not possible when the entire sauce was watery and pale with no flavour. But the best one was that the garlic naans are just like that, despite the fact we tasted and they were plain but nope we were still wrong. I know for a fact all the above is lies as I’ve ordered multiple times from them before but never have I received a watery Bhuna caused by “steam” and the garlic naan not being garlicky. When we requested a refund, as they refused to replace our food, the receptionist told us that they had no idea how to do it but to go through the website which just has a telephone number so there is no way to get a refund. It is shocking that they refused to even consider the fact that they sent a bad takeout, which can happen sometimes especially after telling us they were really busy, and just tried to make us feel we were making it up and should deal with poor quality food. I would advise to avoid because you don’t know what you’ll get and be made to feel that you should deal with what you get if you’re unhappy. Very sad that is how they deal with their loyal customers.

Ordered online before checking reviews ( I think I mixed up restaurants) …..horrified by the poor reviews I was expecting the worse! The food was hot and flavoursome.would use again.

Ordered via Deliveroo as a birthday treat, was late arriving and was not nice at all. Spent the night being poorly. Very disappointing.

I watched an old man (chef) lick a spoon and rinse it in a sink and then moments later took a bag and filled it with salad from the same sink. Food was tasteless and I sat on the loo all night. Leave with your first warning sign

We ordered out takeaway for delivery through Just Eat at 5.45 with a promise of arrival around 7.30. Sat and waited till 8pm. We phoned several times after that to be misled by them re the situation. So Incensed by 9.pm we headed down to collect ourselves. On our way there the our ring doorbell announced the food arrival. 😡. That was 9.20. We arrived at the takeaway to find chaos. No apology. A family member practising his footie skill. Staff openly saying don’t answer the phone and even a driver saying his car clutch had packed in. Another angry customer came in for his no show food. To be fair the food was good when we got home but the service and professionalism was non existent. My suggestion for others Don’t get a delivery from here. Our planned evening was hijacked by this “gaff”

Arrived late and cold. The rogan josh had spilled all over the inside of the take away bag and the pashwari naan had zero raisens despite advertising thay it contained them. The Tikka was also really tasteless and the rice was a stingy portion. Won't be going here again

Been struggling for a while now to find a decent Indian takeaway but we chose Castlegate and probably the only one we will chose now! Food is tasty well presented and still hot, staff will bend over backwards to help you, well done!!

A fantastic chef, decent menu, friendly host . Food is always well above average, but service can be slow and they tend to forget your drinks order . But, even saying that, the food is worth the effort . Small and inviting, the food is the best in Lincoln.

We have been to the Restaurant twice now. Both times the food has been freshly cooked so there is a little wait but all the food was well spiced and worth the wait. My son had butter chicken which has cheese in it which he did not realise as it wasn't mentioned in the ingredients but they were happy to change it. I would highly recommend this Restaurant. I think looking at the negative reviews (that are mainly for takeaways) that it is best to eat in.

Great food here and nothing too much trouble for the staff. We've also used Castlegate for takeaway and found the service and quality to be second to none.

La comida era deliciosa, realmente disfrutamos de la comida. Había un puñado de otros comensales cuando llegamos (8 de la tarde un sábado por la noche) pero pronto las únicas personas en el restaurante. Parecía que había demasiados personal aunque no fueron particularmente atento. Hacia el final de la cena había un montón de gritos desde la cocina - y varias personas (posiblemente entrega los controladores? ) parecía estar caminando directamente en el restaurante y directamente a la cocina, y más gritos. Como el lugar estaba vacío, por lo menos nos dio algo de diversión!

Llamamos Nochebuena para una comida antes de viajar a el en las leyes. A la llegada había un par de personas pero no ocupados. Nos sentamos a la mesa más pequeña posible en la esquina, no es un buen comienzo. Las bebidas eran llevadas rápidamente junto con poppodums que eran fresca con agradable salsas. Bhaji de cebolla no eran muy bajo y eran más grandes que experimentados una pelota de tenis y había 2 de ellos y la mitad de una lechuga! Pollo Tikka entrante era duro. La salvación fue la principal y al vindaloo que Pathia estaban bien aromatizada y el cordero patia era deliciosa, con cordero tierno. El naan de ajo era increíble grandes y suaves a ajo. Servicio podría mejorarse, pero el promedio para una casa de curry.

Really couldn't fault the food tonight. Everything was very tasty and reasonably priced. The waiters were friendly and helpful. The surroundings looked clean and tidy. We visited here about a year ago when the restaurant had moved from near the castle but we weren't so keen then as the place didn't have many tables and it lacked atmosphere. We decided to give it a second chance tonight and we were greatly impressed and will definitely be returning

We dropped in at around 6.30 pm on a Saturday evening after recommendations from friends. In a hurry...we made a quick choice of chicken dansak, Indian summer (chilli chicken), mushroom rice, pilau rice and peshwari naan. We had some poppadoms and a drink while we waited - excellent lime pickle.

Walked into the Castle Gate, without a reservation. Five minutes after the place was full and buzzing. Had to wait a while to be served and for the food, but it was well worth it ! Excellent quality and taste ! Recommended.

Un grupo de nosotros (6 personas) pidió comida a 7,40 pm en una noche de sábado para ser entregado a un pueblo cerca de Lincoln. Prometió a una hora, sin embargo, no apareció hasta dos horas más tarde, 9.45pm!! Por desgracia, la comida no estaba caliente y al menos tres platos. As you can see from the photo with this there was a fly in my food instead of them trying to sort it with me they said I had planted it there I would have been happy for them to just replace the curry so I could enjoy it , but to be told that I planted it was a outrage , I work in a takeaway and word of mouth and reviews are everything I try my best to help resolve issue for mŷ customers yet they didn't want to , the tikka starter was a little over cooked , chips where soggy and looked old barley any cheese on them, I'm sorry to have to write this but they didn't want to sort it and I feel this is they only way.

This is Indian food at its best. Service, presentation and taste are great. Staff efficient and attentive. It's well worth the 10 minute walk from Lincoln centre to enjoy this food. Will definitely visit again 😋

Llevamos nuestro propio vino que abrieron para nosotros y aunque no tome algún tiempo después de haberlo pedido para ser servida, los camareros eran amables y educados. Había seis de nosotros en el partido y todos pedimos platos distintos y todos encontramos la comida fresca y sabrosa. mi marido jalfresi comentó que los hacía más calor que él había experimentado en otros restaurantes indios, pero era un comentario más que una queja. Mi biryani, fue uno de los mejores que he tenido.

Estoy, o para ser más precisos, un habitual Castlegate era llevar al cliente. Algo así como 60 libras por mes me imagino (me gusta curry). Castlegate comida es buena, si caro para una comida para llevar. También fuertemente condimentadas, lo que está bien por mí, pero no es del gusto de todo el mundo, incluyendo a mi esposa. El precio también era mucho más altos que al lado con 1 menos cerveza cada uno y menos comida. La media pinta de lima y soda era 3.50 libras y apenas había nada como, cuando los enfrentaron acerca de esto el camarero nos dijo que es lo que dice el hasta que debe ser! ¿Dónde está el servicio de atención al cliente que al menos intentar resolver el problema? Nosotros, como un grupo salir mucho que el hotel de al lado y volveremos allí de nuevo porque era mediocre en el mejor de los casos y una vergüenza en el peor de los casos. Tal una verguenza como cuando era cuesta arriba era decente. El personal debe ser totalmente nuevo y no tienen ni idea.

Ordered takeaways here loads of time. Food has always arrived on time and tasting great. Would recommend. Note: Castlegate are no longer basted on Union road. They have moved to the lower high street.

Es evidente que los ingresos principal de esta actividad es tiendas de comida para llevar y esto fue confirmado por el hecho de que había seis conductores de entrega sentado en la otra mitad del restaurante esperando para pedidos. El camarero hizo su mejor trabajo y no tengo ninguna queja con este o con la comida que fue excelente como siempre.
