This place takes you back to the 70s but it’s close to the castle grounds and offers cheap decent food. Our kids left nothing on their plates and that’s more important than anything.

Staff appeared very grumpy and unwelcoming. Waiter made snide comment about pushchair being in the way, despite there being no where to park it and we were the ONLY customers at the time. The food is cheap is and and not cheerful. But certainly the attitude odlf the staff is the what let's down this Cafe. Also the Cafe is silence. No radio or music to create an atmosphere and the staff watch you from a little window in the kitchen. Will not be returning

Quick bite to eat with the family having attended local event. Decor is horrendous and dated and the food good value for money. You can't go wrong with a simple bacon butty and instant coffer

Miserable service I had to say hello, instant coffee, no light in the toilets. All the worst of Scotland. Avoid

Great welcome and tea and home cooked scones served by lovely staff. It was so good and homely that we went back in the afternoon for more of the same.

We visited this wee cafe today and were totally delighted by the ambience and delicious food. The service was prompt and polite. It was great to find a proper cafe serving good home made food. The cafe was also clean and tidy.

A small slightly shabby cafe, not quite the cleanest (sticky tables ) one young girl serving overpriced teas and coffees with overcooked toasties. There are much better places to go for a quick bite, pity as the location is good, just needs care and upgrading / cleaning

Frankly awful is about the best that could be said for this appalling example, to holidaymakers, of Scottish cuisine.Chicken burger that has never seen meat, let alone chicken, in it’s life. It’s also never seen lettuce or mayonnaise or tomato or butter.Selection of cakes where, once you have selected, you are charged for what you have eaten - not what you’re children or other children have picked up, sniffed, run their fingers over to taste, sneezed over and then put back on the plate again - that simply goes back for the next customer who orders a ‘selection of cakes’.Mugs of coffee held in place on their saucers by the waitress’s thumbs - in the coffee! This is very basic food, served cheaply, and sets a very poor example to any tourist unlucky enough to come across this mis-representation of a cafe.

Great value. Near Huntly Castle. Food was excellent. The bill for three of us to have tea (or coffee), scone, buttery, croissant--all for £6.50. Staff was super friendly and accommodating.

Finding it difficult to find appropriate words to describe this place, it's not a cafe nor a restaurant. After a busy day fishing, me and my friend drove past Huntly to find somewhere to sit in and have food. Every place we tried has stopped serving food for the afternoon and so after a recommendation from a barmaid from one of the pubs, we went to Castle Cafe. The place is dated and not very clean, menu choices were limited but we both agreed on a "good" old fish and chips. When the food arrived we were in shock as we couldn't believe that anyone in this day and age would find it acceptable to serve something like this. It was a frozen bit of fish out of a box from a low end discount store, bunt. It was accompanied by a handful of chips, all served on a side plate. I have never seen anything like it before and it really puts bad food into perspective as I'm a 100% positive that the Castle Cafe is bottom line as bad as bad food gets and and the only good thing about our visit is that we'll now know to ever visit this place again.

We visited this morning and enjoyed a roll with sausage. The food was hot and good quality but the cafe itself could really do with being upgraded. Yellow walls, net curtains at the window, and paper doilies on the plates make you think of the 1930s. All it needed was the "Your Country Needs You!" poster on the wall, and the wartime cafe look would be complete!

Good basic pub food. Only customer but many friends of the bartender. Sort of dark. Looked like a drinking place. Not many places in Huntly to eat.

My friend and I often visited the castle café for school lunches. We really enjoyed the Chips and Gravy but if your looking for something more substantial I would definitely recommend the chicken fillets. The pancakes are also very tasty and are worth going back for. Can be a bit pricey but good quality and friendly service.

This is a small and friendly cafe but with a rather restricted menu, only offering a few sandwich choices. We had a rather small bacon bap and coffee which was enough to keep us going. The staff were friendly and helpful, but it could offer a greater choice.
