Castaways Wine Bar in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Just had a lovely meal here for our anniversary whilst on holiday. Rare to find a restaurant that does amazing food, but also caters for children and welcomes dogs. A relaxed, but classy place - excellent service, attentive staff and above all really good food. We loved it.

Lovely location. Attentive staff. Sadly food mediocre,. Only one vegan option. Not sure would return.

First time here, walked in and got a table for two and shepherd. Staff were great, efficient and friendly. Food was lovely and we have already booked to go back.

Fantastic food, drinks, service and atmosphere. Something on the menu for children, teenagers and adults, and the dogs were happy too!

Edit: Update for 2024 - after yet another visit this year, this remains our favourite restaurant. They no longer have our favourite wine but that's OK - the food was fantastic again - scallops perfectly cooked and matched with the slightly salty pork, the mains - linguine, stew and mussels all brilliant. --- Our favourite restaurant during our stay in Cornwall. Highly recommended. Parking in the harbour can sometimes be difficult but we found a spot each time. Staff are very friendly and the food is amazing - personally recommend the crab linguini 🤤. Dog friendly.

I live locally and I love this place. I come here regularly for drinks and/or food. Great setting, yummy food and delightful staff. Just a great place... You'll not be disappointed

Really love this place. Staff were lovely and really friendly. I had the market fish which was delicious and not too heavy with a side of gorgeous fresh greens too. Husband had the burger which was fantastic (and he’s American and knows his burgers!) Kids - one had pizza and one had fish and chips and both meals were devoured! Then they went to play on the beach while we finished a very lovely bottle of wine. Didn’t let the rotten weather ruin a really lovely night out. We will most certainly be going back! Thank you

Great place for scenery. Great attentive friendly staff. Who will go out of their way to accommodate whatever you require. Unfortunately food let it down by being very bland. 5 of us had the crab linguine. Couldn't taste crab at all, and at £18.00 per dish, was not worth it. Lemon posset was £8.00 per dish, and did not go on lot on that either. Pizza, fish n chips and mussels were nice. Small portions, over priced in our opinion. Paying for the view.

Friendly staff with great service. Most of the food was good except the carbonara. It lacked any cheese at all and was not seasoned, meaning the pasta and eggs were extremely bland with the guanciale the only hints of flavour in the dish.

Have visited on many occasions as we are locals. Went last night with friends, however was disappointed with the service, staff didn't seem to know what they were doing, plonked food in front of us. Sent the wrong things and pasta dish was luke warm at best. Only one vegan option on the menu. Will think twice before going again!

There was a wedding on in the next room we got there about 5.30 as it was raining heavily they were aggressive saying we don't cook till 6 we said we know we then had to wait for a drink no one came to ask us if we were OK then we asked for olives and bread they said not till 6 it felt so un friendly I took my son and girlfriend from Brighton and was so disappointed we felt they were more interested in the wedding venue will not return we spent over 200 pounds

We had a lovely family meal here on a Sunday. All of us opted for the roast (pork belly, beef and nut roast). Really good portions, very tasty, really friendly staff. We all said how much we enjoyed it. Thank you!

Great coffee, in a beautiful location. The perfect way to break a walk around the point is to bump into an old acquaintance and then share a coffee in Mylor Yacht Harbour. Unsure of what the image was on the top of the coffee :) But always appreciative of creative endeavour in all it's forms! Chuckles.

We had the most wonderful lunch here today. The staff were so friendly and also accommodated a slight menu adaptation for our 14 month old. The food was absolutely delicious. Atmosphere welcoming; people having a great time eating out together. The waiting staff were really attentive but never overbearing. The best crab linguine I’ve had! Brilliant music also.

Fabulous food in a fabulous setting. The food is interesting and tasty without being pretentious. Lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere enjoyed by locals and visitors.

Taken by friends who live in the area and knew the staff so we were well attended. The food was very good and reasonably priced for the UK. (I live in Spain where prices are more reasonable). A little out of the way for the casual visitor but combined with a visit to the surroundings, is well worthwhile.

What a fabulous restaurant. Gorgeous inside, felt like I was in a cute Richard Curtis movie with the fairy lights. We had some delicious wine, the food was simply amazing! 3 of us ate, we shared starters and 3 mains and couldn't decide who had the best one. We were all glum when the last bite was eaten. Very good portion sizes, without overindulging. Initially we had the dogs (thank you so much for being the kind of business that welcomes us in!) but popped them in the car when I sensed a little friction with a terrier 😬. We loved it, told everybody we know in the area! Can't wait to come back. Hugely recommend the crab and chilli linguine.

Delightful little restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere. The service was quick and impeccable, and it was the nicest lunch I've had in a long time! The mussels were incredible, I would love to revisit and try more of the menu.

Currently in the smaller building as it is winter, which is lovely and cosy and nice atmosphere. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. Food is excellent, options for everyone. Dogs are welcome

Went two times there while camping nearby for a night :D. Probably the best mussels!

We went here for lunch after a lovely walk around flushing & Mylor. I had the "C-Dog" a delicious Battered Pollock Hotdog style Baguette! Lovely tasty toppings, sauces and seasoned very well. My girlfriend had the Seafood Pizza, it was also very tasty! Warming & welcoming staff members. Also bonus points from me for stocking my favourite beer on tap! Beavertown Neck Oil IPA 😍

We had our wedding reception at Castaways 3 days ago and wow…. What a wedding it was! We feel incredibly lucky to have had our wedding at such a special and beautiful place. The food was out of this world and all our guests loved the day with many of them stating it was the best wedding they had ever been to. All the staff were amazing! They were friendly, professional and courteous. With Marc at the helm, they made our dream wedding become a reality. Everyone commented on how yummy the food was and the setting of this place makes you feel like you’re not in the UK. So if you want to go out for a meal that you can guarantee will be a good one, treat your loved ones to an evening out or just simply chill out with a drink by the sea, Castaways is that!

Absolutely brilliant food and amazing service from Dan and Will! The freshest seafood we’ve had all holiday - and wonderful to be so well looked after, in particular by the charismatic and enthusiastic Dan. We came all the time as kids and it’s amazing to see the restaurant still going from strength to strength. We cannot recommend the beautiful place enough - you must go!

Not a good experience at all had to queue at the bar for 15 minutes can understand if busy but only 1 person behind the bar 4 other staff wandering around doing not a lot pity the person waiting for the burgers on the hotplate they were still there after I was eventually served. The barman was busy yet nobody stepped in to help or to take food or ice cream orders to alleviate the queue. So only had the one drink and £1-40 for a bag of crisps is daylight robbery

Visited twice last weekend while camping nearby. Great staff, very efficient and food was delicious, in particular the crab linguine and spicy meat pizza and the arancini. Quite busy on the Sunday evening but service still good.

Tasty fish dish, fresh cod and asparagus with new potatoes.

Service was excellent once in there but they didn't have our 'booked online' table??? Made up for it with the service and food.

The food was good but service was abysmal. Never known the like. We were a party of nine and we each received our choice 2 hours apart from the first to last.

Firstly staff were polite however they had to be asked for things that should be automatic eg Specials ,sugar for coffee. I had crab linguine and found the portion size very small given the price,asked for some bread and was charged £6 extra!! The dessert choice was poor as the ice cream option had melted due to the ambient temperature being high don't follow this reasoning at all. As for my dessert complete rip off for £7.50 I was presented with a small 10cm tart with some ricotta cheese on top. So in summary very expensive and lacking in availability I would not revisit.

Sadly lacking. I wrote about this place 2 years ago with rave reviews, went back today, weather was glorious, got told they were only doing pizza so ordered a nice looking sea food to be presented with a spicy Pepperoni, little excuse, just did I want it or not. We are back in a couple of weeks for our main holiday but will find somewhere else to eat.

Delicious food, chill vibes, lovely staff. Menu is a little limited, but didn’t matter as I had the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, and the starters (Arancini pictured), and wines, were all also great. Thanks to all the staff who made it such a lovely family meal. Will definitely be returning.

We were at Castaways for a funeral wake. It was a very basic day, with pastys, sandwiches, and scones served with coffee and tea. The service was super attentive and very friendly. Kudos all around for their behaviour. Thank you.

I went to this restaurant for a special occasion yesterday, and boy howdy, I loved it. Firstly, the service was impeccable. They were enthusiastic and responsible and were extremely kind and caring. Then there was the food. I ordered their specialty, the muscles. They were rich with flavour and deeply enjoyable. And the presentation was amazing- it even came with a handy bucket to dispose of the muscle shells. Overall, I loved it. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and a definite recommendation!!

Order online and the order appears like magic by a brilliant team who really know how to look after their customers. Quality of the food was great too.

"There should be an 'R' in the Month!" Really great time at Castaways as always. Good food, lovely eating out in the sun and great to order from QR codes and very fast service. The team dealt with a ridiculous complaint from a neighbouring table about mussels very well. The man was convinced the mussels weren't any good because there wasn't a "R" in the month... not that this is true, but even if you believe this; surely you wouldnt order muscles when there wasn't a "R" in the month 😂😂 we found this very funny.

Good selection of food to cover a range of appetites and dietary preferences. Portion sizes are great and the service is spot on.
