Ate here for 4 days whilst on a coach trip. The establishment was clean and the staff were pleasant, but there were a few things that let it down. My main concern was that there were no sneeze guards over any of the food, particularly where the desserts were laid out and everybody had to pass/wait in order to get their main meal. Likewise, in the hot plate area there was no food protection whatsoever, and while this may not be a mandatory requirement, this is the only hotel in years that I haven't seen this in place to protect customers and staff alike, even before covid times. The breakfast is very good although we missed some mushrooms with our full English, and ironically the fresh bread is covered with a tea towel. The dinner portion sizes were a bit hit and miss, as one evening my partner got 1 small fishcake, 3 new potatoes and a bit of veg, not very substantial for an adult, yet my stuffed peppers and vegetables was a good size. We also thought that £37 for a bottle of Errazuriz Chardonnay was very extreme, and while we understand there has to be a mark up, we didn't pay this much in London!

Ended up eating all meals at Delta Hotel by Marriott at Gateshead. The staff at the bar were attentive and friendly. The beetroot bruschetta was wonderful. We could have done with a few more arugula on the bocconcini and tomato salad. The grilled halloumi was nicely coloured and moist. The chicken skewers were a bit on the dry side.

Very good breakfast back to the standard of the old Marriott. All freshly cooked food and they will cook some things to order. Fresh fruit salad with quality yoghurt. Good choice of coffees for a good quality machine. The only thing that could be improved was the bread, which was ordinary white and brown sliced

Stayed in the hotel for dinner as kids were tired after swimming, now I wish we would have gone out elsewhere to eat. Ordered sea-bass and 20mins later was told that it is not available. Ordered sirloin stake and 20mins later was told that it’s not available either. So had to choose duck for the 3rd time which I didn’t actually fancy eating but there was nothing else on the menu ,to be honest. Food took approx 40mins to be served, considering there was only 1 more customer apart from us 3 My portion size was very small considering £23 price and veggies were disappointingly lukewarm. My children’s beef was undercooked and somewhat raw rather than medium .. When I mentioned this, I was simply told “we shall let the chef know”. No discounts were made for the poor service or lack of quality in the expensive food. I definitely do not a recommended this place to go to. You’re better off visiting the Metrocentre which is 10mins walk and getting a better service for less money.

Booked online for dinner as we were travelling down on the Friday evening, and would rather eat in the hotel after s long day of getting there Sadly when we arrived we were informed of the restaurant being closed, if I was aware of this earlier I would have made the journey out to go somewhere else We were still able to eat in the bar area, but it was busy, our first table seats were very high, not comfortable for eating we did move to a more practical table once others had left. Took a while to get menus To the point where we were just about to leave and go elsewhere Ordered 2 soft drinks, 1 with ice one without. Both came with ice Starter sharing nachos, were really nice, could have done with being bigger Were asked if we required more drinks when main came which was nice Mains 2 fish and chips with crushed peas, fish did look identical, which made me think this was frozen. Taste wise it was ok, crushed peas, weren't crushed just bog standard peas that were pretty dry when we got them. Some of the chips were undercooked Desserts 2 sticky toffee pudding Nice flavour, not overly warm, very little sauce and 1 ball of ice cream When they cleared dessert, weren't asked if we required more drinks or coffees Sat for a further half hour still nothing, finally went to bar to pay bill Would I have got more attentive service in restaurant if it was open, probably, would the food be better, sadly don't think so Haven't been into the restaurant for a number of years, and unfortunately due to lack of service and food quality won't return

Part of the Marriot group of hotels. Food was good, beer was pressurised (no handpull), and quite dear (£6.50) for a pint of pale ale. The heating wasn't too great either, asked for warmer air but still blew cold.

This is a very pleasant restaurant and the food was well cooked as well as promptly served. It is well worth a visit. Breakfast was nice but the hot food needed to actually be hot.

We called in for lunch we were met straight away by a member of staff and shown to our table. All the staff we encountered were super friendly and efficient Our drink orders were taken promptly and we were left with menus We opted for the Sunday lunch which at £12.95 per head and was good value we also decided to have a starter which is an addition £4 per head I had the prawn cocktail for a starter which was very tasty. For my main course I opted for the beef which came with selection of vegetables and a nice large Yorkshire pudding which was all cooked to perfection A very pleasant time was had by all and we will definitely be back.

The staff in this hotel restaurant is great! I can’t emphasize enough. Didn’t try the steak but fish n’ chips were rather average. Fish was good, altho the batter was soggy and on the edge of uncooked inside.

Food was awful!! Served cold and slow!! Would not recommend!!! Travelled the world and if that was the only restaurant we would starve rather than eat there. A home cook could do better, however couldn’t fault the staff/service they were great and embarrassed

Second time for dinner here, both times have been fantastic. We had the Sirlion Steak, it has a nice chargrilled taste. Very friendly staff. Breakfast here is also really nice, English cooked breakfast selection is tasty and plenty options available. Downsides: Maybe some options are a little pricey and more reasonable home cooked meals should be on the menu

Absolutely terrible. A 22 pound steak that looks like a thin piece of rubber. Burger looked rubbish as well.

Avoid, avoid, avoid!!! So our starters where OK. My steak had to be sent back. I asked for medium rare and it was very well done, then when they made me a second one is was rare/blue. I was so hungry at this point and tired I just eat around the edges at the more cooked parts and eat the chips. But by the time my second steak had arrived back both my husband and son had both finished eating their lesagnas and our son said he wanted to go back to the room to use the loo. After dinner we went up to our room and realised he had been violently ill with d&v and within an hour my husband had it too. So not only was my steak absolutely crap (especially for the £28 it cost) I've had better in a Witherspoon. But both my husband and son obviously had food poisoning from the lesagna and where up all night taking it in turns in the loo and using the sink to be sick in while the other was on the loo. Sorry to be graphic but I would avoid this place and save your money. Considering the bill was nearly £100 I really wish I had spoken up and refused to pay for my steak at least (when paying we had no idea how ill our son was upstairs)

What makes your evening great after long exhausting day? Good food. What else? Great service. The art of hospitality is often non existent in some busy pretentious restaurants for example in London. Yet, I have arrived at Cast Iron restaurant and immiediately was greeted by immaculate and well mannered waiter named Kai. Food was tasty, and I was advised to go with chef recommendation on the juicy but well renedered ribeye. I was constantly checked on, this was non intrusive and well balanced. Thank you Kai, you added class to my evening and I went back to my room in upbeat mood. I hope you will receive a praise from your management and more. Thank you.

Food always reliable, limited menu but good value. Disappointed with the veggie burger which wasn’t as per the menu but the waitress did tell us that it wasn’t as advertised. Various choices not available but accept how difficult it must be for restaurants right now. In summary a fairly priced hotel restaurant where most people would find enough to order.

Very quiet this time, only 2 other tables , friendly staff, I had lovely steak , wife wasnt to fond of skin on the fish and the upgrade to truffle fries came with no taste of truffles and were actually wedges, which was bit to much for her, staff were attentive, maybe bit to much as was still chewing when plate taken away, still nice place to eat, breakfast buffet is my favourite, but felt left out a bit by staff ignoring our table , as to busy constantly at another, which leaves self feeling little bit less thankful for business, 2 meals and 2 extremes of service, think may try elsewhere next time in Newcastle.

Its only for a restaurant in a hotel, but t would be better to eat somewhere outside In my opinion. In the metro mall are a lot of nice places to eat... also some Indian food restaurants at about 10 min8te walking distance. The restaurant is kot bad at all but it lacks atmosphere.. food is good but not super good. Overall somewhere between 3 and 4 stars I would say

Arrived straight from another Marriott in Scotland. Tried to book online using the Marriott app but the link takes you to another website where the Marriott userid and password are not accepted - this is not the fault of the hotel but the Marriott company itself. We were told on check-in that the restaurant is not usually open on a Sunday but a quick call was made and we were told that it was open but fully booked until 8:30. After a 5 hour drive I had hoped to eat earlier but accepted an 8:30 booking. When we arrived at the restaurant there was no booking for us at all but there were lots of tables and we were asked to choose one. Menu is basically the same as the bar menu with the addition of the grill section. I ordered a fillet - medium rare and this was served as expected. In summary - good but not great - let down by the booking process not the food.

Staying in the Marriott hotel we wandered down for dinner and enjoyed a delicious meal with drinks from the bar and coffees. With steak, fish, pasta among the choices there should be something to suit most tastes. Nice bright surroundings and friendly service would definitely eat here again if staying. The adjacent bar offers some of the dishes if you prefer a more informal setting with TV's.

Good friendly and quick service, Food was well presented and very tasty. My steak was tender and cooked exactly how I like it. We both enjoyed the meal and I would eat in the hotel again if I stayed. Good selection of beers and wine. Well Done

A great, cheap and cheerful, good value breakfast, as a great break from some shopping in the Metro Centre. It is a big pub, so plenty of tables, including lots of booths which give a nice touch. Between us we had different breakfast muffins, including the bacon and egg, and the veggie sausage - both were great. The veggie sausages were really tasty and good quality - as good as the real thing! Using the app makes ordering really easy, and tea and coffee refills are free. So all in all, a great breakfast at a great price, in a nice setting.

A pub that is a lot longer that it is wide; deceptively big. It also has a beer garden at the rear, and is the classic Wetherspoon format. The bar is sensibly placed in the middle, along the left side, the toilets are opposite on the right.
