First time here. Been past it many times and always thought the food looked nice. Decided to call in with my four year old daughter for a bite to eat. The place is quite small when you go in with not much room to move around. Food was lovely and home made. Only downside was one of the staff. The waitress with dark hair and glasses was very unpleasant and quite arrogant and didn't seem to like children being in there. Made me feel like I had to hurry up with my meal and get out. The rest of the staff, however, were lovely. Because of this one staff member, I won't be in a rush to go back.

I'm ashamed to say I've lived here for 16 years and never called into this place but did today. All I can say is I'm sorry I didn't do it sooner Walked in staff already cleaning a table and sat us down after a few minutes staff came over to ask did we know what we wanted ,really friendly lady, didn't catch her name sorry We didn't have to wait long for food and when it arrived it was nice and hot We ordered for the baby chicken nuggets and chips which arrived first so couldn't resist trying the chips I have searched for decent chips for years around here, these are the best by a village mile We ordered the pie of the day ,served with chips and mushy peas and gravy and a hot chicken and stuffing barm with a salad Where do I start ,everything is home made The pie was incredible ,plenty of filling ,chips I've already mentioned ,even the peas where incredible and the gravy was to die for The got sandwich was probably the best we've ever tasted We also ordered two hot chocolates wow If you haven't been in here please go in ,you don't know what your missing and I apologise for not going in sooner I wish I had more hands to score you but believe me it's more than ten out of ten and this will now be my go to most days of the week when we are out Such a shame that next year this shopping centre will close and this amazing cafe will not have a home I just hope whoever owns it will find something somewhere to accommodate this cafe because it needs to stay permanently in st Helens Best food I have tasted in a long long time around here

I came here while strolling around town and never saw this place before - well, never really acknowledged it was there. But this is a really nice little café. The waitresses are very nice and welcoming and the food I had (Chilli & chips) was very nice and not too filling. The place is clean and relaxing and the prices are very cheap for the area. Highly recommend.

I always do enjoy a breakfast in here. Has a certain charm, a proper cafe. The toast is so thick and buttery… I love it. However, I did have the ginger latte and it wasn’t the hottest. I did ask for a new one but it never arrived…. None other less, I’ll still return

This place is just wonderful for food at any time of day and the staff are a delight. My partner and I were here yesterday for lunch and we both had the home made beef and onion pie - absolutely delicious! Packed with best beef steak and not a trace of fat nor gristle. I really do not know how they do it at the price, the meat alone would have cost £3 each at the local shop or supermarket. The friendly staff were constantly checking that everything was fine and that we didn't want anything more, well worth a considerable tip. I noticed one review gave one star because they couldn't read the instructions for ordering and had to wait . . . how pathetic! I've been there several times and never had to wait on service, perhaps a few minutes for a table because it's so popular, nothing more. There are high price rip off eateries in St Helens that are best avoided, this is definately not one of them.

Me and my brother popped in for Breakfast. We didn’t realise you had to grab a spoon and pop it in the holder when you’re ready to order. So we had to approached the staff after 15 minutes of sitting there wondering why no one was coming to our table. When she came to take our order, She went and got a spoon just to put on the table, just to make a point to usReally what the hell.Staff we’re not very friendly at all bit rude to be honest. The breakfast was absolutely disgusting eggs were under cooked, beans where cold and gross cheap nasty, bacon under cooked, the only nice thing on the plate was tomato sausage and that was a little burned.Plates to touch where very greasy.Avoid this place like the plague,Save your money and stomach,Trust me it’s not worth paying to have stomach ache all day.

I dropped in with a friend for lunch mid week. This cafe is normaly very busy but was fairly quiet when we went. Though not an extensive menu there is ample choice and the food is good. I had simple egg and chips which was delicious and my friend had a toasty with tea. The food was good and hot and a decent mug of tea too. Other diners had the roast dinner which was very very cheap and looked that good I wish I'd ordered it. But the nicest part was the staff, pleasant and friendly and having a bit of a singalong as they worked, it made the cafe a nice place to be in. Will definately call in again.

This cafe is in one of St Helens shopping precincts, every time I pass by it seems busy. So I had lunch there the other day, it was great value & very tasty. They do a lot of home made dishes using locally source food. I suspect at busy times the staff must be stretched, but a popular cafe is better than an unpopular one

visited this place yesterday (Thursday) with a friend. After sitting for a while we asked to be served, was told to go get a wooden spoon ...can they not see customers without one. We both ordered jacket potatoes with tuna and salad, that night and the morning after we where both ill, felt sick and had bad runs. Good job it was my day of work or this place would have cost me a days wages. What the hell do they serve to customers to make them ill, how long do they keep food and is it properly stored, I doubt it. This place could do with a visit from the environmental health. Never again will I eat here and wouldn't recommend anyone does.

My husband and myself called in Saturday 18th November we ordered our food which after arriving spent most of the time swatting flies instead of enjoying the food, we told the first member of staff about it and he said " They fly in through the door" I could not eat my food it was not an enjoyable experience. On telling the cashier on the way out she explained they knew about it and the flies were attracted to the vinegar sauces etc, so if you want to go in a cafe where you cant put condiments on your food cassandras is the place NOT !!!!!.

On my visit to Cassandras I saw mice running across the floor, I ordered a full English and The food was cold and uncooked also the sausages, I would defiantly not recommend this cafe the kitchen is absolutely disgusting and untidy, the way they speak to their staff is horrific and I asked a waitress how her day was and she said good but she looked like she never wanted to be there she was a lovely polite lady with blonde hair I cannot remember her name now,I also had the lady behind the counter talking on to me about her boyfriend who was so called famous and was in Waterloo road as i was going to an important business meeting this made me late and was an excessive inconvenience as of this I am disgusted in the lack of customer service within Cassandras, this is absolutely unacceptable. I hope something would be done about this.

Okay it's certainly not the Ritz but it doesn't try to be either! It's a cafe with a relaxed atmosphere at the heart of a community. It serves tea almost by the gallon and lovely thick, buttery toast by the pallet load. I stopped for a quick lunch and had a jacket potato with cheese and beans - very inexpensive yet well presented and plentiful. Great value. The waitresses are all very nice and the place is immaculate. If you're in St Helens, rather than spend £4 on a swanky coffee at Costa/Starbucks, try this instead and support local small business

Had the large breakfast. Was awful. Cheap products cooked poorly. The sausage and black pudding were cremated and the hash browns were absolutely vile and the insides were like mashed potato. The menu says you get 2 toast but what you actually get is 1 round cut into 2 slices so deliberately misleading.

Got served quite quickly what considering how busy it was its something that I can't fault with the cafe, waiteress' was inviting and welcoming, the receipt that has the name of the waitress said Katie, another waitress with brown hair was also friendly towards me. Food was served quite quickly but some parts was good and some parts was bad, with the bacon being quite cold and the hash brown is what I can only describe as frozen, apart from that the rest of the meal was lovely. When I was leaving I was served by a female called janisha? I think, she showed awful customer service and looked like she didn't want to be there, very unwelcoming and made it feel chore to serve me, hopefully she brushes up on her customer service skills for the next time I return to the cafe. Apart from this time food is generally perfect so I would recommend.

This lunch time we called in for the second time, the first being a few weeks ago for a quick afternoon drink. We thought to try the hot menu this time. The cafe was rather full, it was 1.00 lunch time. My wife ordered a baked potato with cheese, a pot of tea and baked beans, I asked for the hotpot and a large black coffee. Our drinks arrived first and we had about a 10 minute wait for the food, no problem with that. My wife's meal arrived first with a mixture of red and white crumbled cheese over the baked potato, a large salad and a ramekin of baked beans, the potato was rather cool as the cheese was not melting at all. My hotpot arrived a couple of minutes later and looked very nice with a circle of shortcrust pastry on the top. As I started to eat I discovered the edge was tepid but edible, when I got to the centre it was stone cold. I called a waitress and explained that the hotpot was cold. She took it away and brought it back within a couple of minutes. It had been obviously been flashed in a microwave oven. It was the very same bowl with the started to be eaten crust. No new portion even offered. We will not be returning.

I used to visit here very often as the food is amazing with lovely cooks willing to cater to all and lovely waitresses always with a smile. However whenever i have been to cassandra's cafe i have encountered the owner speaking to staff horribly belittling them reducing one young lady to tears on more than one occasion. Also the two young ladies usually on the counter arnt very friendly. Nasty people who give you funny looks and point when you ask a different question or ask why she had charged me for things that i didnt order nor ate. After this happening all to often i asked about these girls to find they were the owners sisters. That part didnt honestly supprise me as i did have an inkling. I had also complained many times to no avail. I now only visit cassandra's if everywhere else is busy. Lovely place if you just deal with the waitresses and not the owners family.

I only had a round of toast as the slices were very thick indeed, hubby asked for two rounds with a fried egg, but, for some unknown reason could only have 2 eggs with 2 slices of thick toast not one?? He did manage to get through his breakfast and we both enjoyed along with our steaming hot drinks, pleasant staff as well as very reasonable prices.

This is a very popular place and the tables always seem to be full at lunchtime. Food is served all day and the prices are cheap as well. I have never seen or eaten Tea Cakes so huge (they are super sized) and the coffee is cheap. If you go for the morning crumpet deal the coffee is included. Look around at the massive wedge shaped slices of bread and you can see why customers flock in. ..... so the best tip is get there before noon or wait til mid afternoon. This is a friendly place and the waitresses always have a smile. There is also a large deli take away as well and the spinach quiche looks very inviting ..... a great place to stop after shopping.

Stopped there recently for a quick drink whilst travelling the East Lancs. I used the rear entry. My god I was horrified by the state of disrepair of the building. The whole place should be demolished and rebuilt. The window frames are rotten and falling to pieces and some of the windows have no glass. It's a disgrace that this unkempt dump should be serving food. I wouldn't eat anything there. They can spend money on their wacky warehouse but fail to maintain the building in a satisfactory condition. But the sad thing is they charge over £6 for a pint of Peroni as though the place is a premium establishment. Its nowhere near. This is like London prices in a shabby area of Merseyside and a shabby building. Who are Greene King trying to kid. With management like this it's no wonder tgat they are laying off so many people at Bury S E. Avoid at all costs. Even the parking lot is shabby and full of potholes etc. Close your wacky warehouse and refurbish the whole building to an acceptable standard. Keep driving past.
