Excellent food, lovely surroundings, will definitely come again.

Booked a table for Saturday evening. Place has been spruced up and a change of owner since we were last here. Place looks nice and fresh side. Menu looked good. I had calamari and garlic mayo starter and special Casanova spaghetti for main. Both very tasty and reasonably priced too. My other have starter and main both had minor issues which wasn’t worth mentioning. But attention to detail is needed. Overall, good food, good prices and good service. Would recommend.

Had stayed away from here since the reopening as we were huge fans of the original and didn’t feel it could live up to its predecessor. We were wrong as it does! The refurb looks wonderful. The service was excellent and the food every bit as good as we remembered from before. Not expensive. One note, looking at reviews, we were given a false impression on how they looked after vegetarians. Ignore the reviews, my daughter was very pleased with her veggie pasta. Highly recommended

Maybe when everything about the place was changed a while ago they should have changed the name as it bears no relation to the old Casanova which had become a bit tacky. We eat out regularly and having tried many this is our go to Italian. The quality and flavour of everything from the olives to the coffee is outstanding. Last night I had to look up what I was considering ordering and I wouldn't even know where to buy guanciale in Sheffield but I know it was beautiful with mushrooms in a risotto. There's a good range of beers and wines which all seem reasonably priced. Can't comment on the cocktails but they definitely look interesting. The only reason I've dropped a star on atmousphere is it's not busy enough so lacked a bit of hubub but this is the best place I know of to get excellent Italian food that matches what you get in Italy. Enjoy!

We had a very unfortunate experience at Casanova’s. My partner who is vegetarian ordered a pasta dish that was listed as vegetarian. However, after eating a few bites we discovered that the dish had pancetta in it. We received a new dish but bear in mind that if you have dietary requirements this isn’t the place for you! Also, I ordered a glass of wine which had salt in it!

Visited on a Saturday evening, excellent choices on the menu, very nice food. Quality ingredients throughout. Classic Italian. Great choice of wines. Friendly service. Definitely will visit again.

Had lovely cocktails and light dinner with friends. You can go just for drinks or for a full meal. We shared olives, bread and bruschetta; I had a grilled veg platter for my main which also came with cheese and bread so it was perfect! We also had yummy desserts. Really friendly waitress. Definitely recommend!

Just try it ! We went on Valentines day. So it was a special 3 course meal, with a prosecco on entry and lemoncello after food. It was really really good.

Visited Casanovas last night, from start to finish the service was faultless, extremely polite and welcoming. The menu is of a perfect size catering for all diets and tastes. My wife had Parma ham on focaccia bread, fresh and tasty, I had tris di arancini, three different flavoured balls on a bead of tomato sauce, absolutely delicious and so well presented. For mains my wife had seabass in a butter sauce with a side of oven baked carrot & potatoes, again the presentation was spot on, a hearty portion expertly cooked and delicious. I had tortelli alla lucchese, fantastic pasta parcels filled with meat and veg on a tasty bolognaise sauce. The service is quite slow but it doesn’t really matter as the surroundings are modern, spacious and a really nice place to be. For the price, this place is a real go to for us now, but having been twice now, can’t understand how quite it was again. COME ON CROOKES LOCALS, get behind these guys, they deserve your support, you won’t regret it!!!!!!!

Visited New Years Eve for the first time. Cannot fault anything about this restaurant. Having been to various places in Italy, can honestly say the food was comparable to dishes eaten in Sicily/Sardinia. Could almost have been there if it wasn't for the wind and rain outside! Will definitely be back 😘

Lovely new menu, loads of choices, excellent drinks, quick and prompt service! Staff members are lovely, even if you not sure what would you fancy to eat, you can get a friendly advice. Best Italian spot in Sheffield I must say! Even if you just want to pop in for a drink - atmosphere is really warm and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Visited yesterday night again, probably for the 10th time since they opened for drinks and snacks. I can say by far,the blonde lady from the bar(i forgot her name)makes the tastiest best cocktails we had until now in Sheffield. We talked to her before and she personalised a martini which was fabulous(tiramisu martini). Also,we had pizza which was so good and it felt like Italy,bringing back amazing memories. Overall,the new Casanova is a place worth trying and an amasing addition to Sheffield. Well done to the owners for the vibrant place and compliments to the amazing staff that goes miles above to make sure you really have the best experience.

The menu was extensive. Our food was just so delicious and quite frankly much better than most Italian restaurants we have been to. Very friendly and efficient staff. We will definitely be back

Service was very slow. I ordered the vegan stuffed pasta with almond crumble, topped with cream sauce and fresh asparagus. Since it's marked vegan on the menu, I assumed this would be a vegan cream. The dish I received wasn't as described on the menu as there was no cream sauce and no asparagus. Someone explained to me that to make the dish vegan they remove the sauce, and that the asparagus is inside the pasta. The pasta was cold and uncooked in places. Therefore I couldn't recommend this place sadly.

We visited here with my son and daughter-in-law who live nearby. We had a very nice meal. Only my son eats meat, my husband and I being vegetarian and my daughter-in-law vegan. We were all catered for. We had a lovely selection of bread with the starters. One thing we liked about the vegetarian dishes was that they were slightly less predictable than the average place we visit. In addition, the portions were about right for us, not too small but not too large which we find can sometimes be a problem, especially with pasta. The desserts were very nice too . Service was friendly and helpful. The only disappointment for me was that they no longer had the advertised port to go with my coffee. Our bill was £170.00 which included two bottles of wine and a service charge. If I am honest, I was a little surprised by the service charge, it being my experience that this is usually only added automatically for tables of 6 upwards. However, I was going to leave a tip anyway so it wasn't an issue. We will go back again when we are next in Sheffield.

Having recently visited here, I can only say I was very disappointed. We sat wanting a drink first and were then rushed to our table. Three times we were asked if we were having wine with the meal . Three times we replied, we'd decide when we ordered the food. The fish I chose wasn't available. It's not that we booked late. It was 730. The two waitress clearly weren't communicating and both repeated each other all evening. The chips were clearly out of a packet. I had the lamb and it was poorly cooked. No crisp to the fat whatsoever and the sauce was just strange. One of the side dishes that arrived was incorrect. Overall we just felt rushed and the staff were incompetent. The house music system was clearly a budget one. Rather than creating a nice ambiance , it just created backgound noise. I rarely write reviews unless I want to express my opinion about excellence or the opposite. In this case I really don't have anything positive to say about this place, it's service or the quality of it's food.

Dinner at Casanova was fantastic. Had a family birthday celebration here and the quality and selection of food was incredible. The staff were welcoming and very attentive. The garlic bread and arancini were especially nice starters accompanied with some of the best cocktails I have experienced - the mojito was excellent. The portion size of the starters was brilliant and they were full of flavour - we couldnt resist sharing them! We all had different pasta and risotto mains, and enjoyed them all, including the presentation. I had the lasagna, and the layering and sauce was amazing. So good infact, I forgot to take pictures! We tried the cheesecake and tiramisu for dessert and they were a great take on old classics. Both were delicious and by this time we had tried a selection of both white and red wine which complimented the entire experience. Certainly deserving of 5 stars, and I'm sure I will be returning!

Had a really lovely meal out with the family for my mums birthday. We shared a garlic bread and arancini for starters which were both delicious. We all had different pasta and risotto mains and all enjoyed them too. The portion sizes were great and the food was presented so well. I only managed to get a picture of one dessert, but we had the cheesecake and tiramisu which were both really good! My absolute favourites are the cocktails though! The quality is just as good as in cocktail bars. They also have a great wine selection. Really enjoyed my evening here, the food and atmosphere was amazing and the staff are lovely too. Will definitely be coming back!

Enjoyed a lovely night out at Casanova. First visit since new owners took over. Great chilled atmosphere, very attentive staff. Lots of choice on the menu. Tried the new pizza dough, very light and fluffy. Really enjoyed the food. Unfortunately too full for dessert, maybe next time ! Left feeling well fed and looked after. Looking forward to our next visit Thankyou!!

Lovely meal, so glad they have reintroduced the cheesy garlic bread (our daughter’s favourite) and the chicken in mushroom sauce was great too. We loved it under Angie and Salvo so are very excited they’ve got options which are more towards that style now. They were really kind to us with our little girl, even letting her doll sit at the table and bringing the doll her own tiny drink and food. Very touching.

Took my grandmother here for meal, lovely staff and food! The new remodel has done wonders looks so much more modern and fresh! Would definitely recommend checking it out now!

Restaurant is pretty however, the food is overpriced for what it is. Really small portions and left hungry. No flavour to my dish whatsoever.

My friend, myself and my 4yr old daughter came here for lunch and were greeted by very friendly staff who gave my daughter lots of attention. We had the lunch menu and the new pizza dough recipe which was offered to us and it was really good, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle with obviously very good quality ingredients. We enjoyed the family vibe and felt very welcome, even when my daughter was messing around with ice cubes and napkins the staff thought it was funny and didn't mind in the slightest.

Small portions for the prices, were told at 7pm there were no pizzas left for the night only to see other tables then be served pizzas later on. Paid correct price for the bill without the service charge then the waiter came back to ask if we were not paying the service charge.

Place is amazing! Food is absolutely delicious and mouth watering. Lovely bread and meatballs for a starter. The mains something completely different in the whole Crookes area - really enjoyed Risotto and the Chicken escalope. Chilled out and cosy atmosphere, modern looking inside and out, great staff members - make you feel welcome. Let's not forget the cocktails, which were made up to the standard! I have visited more than once Casanova and everytime we had a very good time. We really enjoyed our food here and the atmosphere is great too. Staff is friendly and restaurant is kids friendly, they have a kids menu aswell. I also liked the cocktails. I recommend it and will be back there again.

Used to love visiting here when Salvo and Angie ran the place, been a customer for 20 years. We went to try it out under its new ownership and sadly we won't be returning anymore. The food is very overpriced , if your going to charge ke £20 for a bowl of pasta it had better knock my socks off , and it was just medicore at best. The atmosphere has gone, the menu slashed right back with limited choice, and very expensive for what it is. The meatballs for starter were lovely and worth the £7.50 price, but everything else was a dissapointment, the pizza bases were dry and rock hard , even my steak knife couldn't cut through it , the £8 brownies were dry and tasteless . The service was friendly enough , but very boring food and a £180 bill for 5 people means we won't be returning to Casanovas again .

Wanted to give this a try as it looks so great from the outside now it’s been refurbished. Unfortunately, the restaurant service was really slow, the appetisers came with the mains, and we didn’t love the food sadly either.

Opening night! Food was delicious. Few hiccups with service but it was opening night so kind of to be expected. Had to wait a while to be given the menu and then we had to request cutlery for our mains when we realised they weren't coming back 😅 overall it was a very enjoyable night 😊

Great atmosphere. Fabulous food and the staff are welcoming, friendly and really add to the experience. usually lots of great specials on the menu a but the regular menu changes every so often so it never gets stale. The owners are prime examples of how hosts should be in restaurants - eyes and ears everywhere, anticipating the needs of the customer and everything well presented.

We visited this restaurant on Friday 10th June and it did not disapoint. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived. The owners and staff were so friendly,atentive and extremely professional. And the food was excellent. We had such a lovely evening and I doubt that you could have received any better if you had visited a top London restaurant. If you love Italian food and a great service I would recommend this place. Absolutely fantastic

Our go to restaurant for family celebrations and get togethers. Owners who welcome you in and serve up delicious food. Such a welcoming place to eat. The menu is extensive and every dish is cooked beautifully. Well worth a visit, it won't be the only time you go trust me.

Really delicious food all made fresh. They were great with a group (7 of us). They were brilliant with dietary requirements we had a coeliac (gluten free) and low dairy all which they had no issues sorting. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful with everything but especially good with dietary requirements which is a huge postive for folks with allergens. The house red wine was delicious and well priced. A very enjoyable evening.

This was a visit for a family members 40th birthday and a very good time was had by all. The service from all the staff was exceptional throughout. I had Mussels to start which was big enough to be a main course on its own....

We came here with a couple of friends for an early evening meal before heading on to a Sheffield Jazz gig locally. Hadn't been to Casanova's before, and it's a good find. They've got all the traditional Italian classics from the garlic and tomato focaccia...

Absolutely fantastic food. Authentic Italian, the service is second to none. The staff are friendly, happy and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I definitely recommend a visit to this gem of a restaurant.

This is the 4th time we've visited this place and we cannot be more happy with the delicious food and the warmth of the staff! My review:Ok, 1st time visit for my wife and i, we went as a romantic night out.  Bad stuff out of the way...The food was ok, it was "good" but little things just made it miss the mark.. like the melanzanie parmigianno was ok but too much mozzarella.. The Carpaccio di Manzo, again.. ok but was lacking taste, maybe not fresh? I've had Carpaccio in Rome and in other restaurants in Sheffield (Vito's for example) that were clearly fresh and much more flavourful.We followed this with my wife having goat's cheese and fig pasta with a cream and mushroom sauce, and i had a blue steak. Again they were ok, but the steak tasted a little watery and my wife's cream sauce just didn't feel "inspired"The desserts were ok, my cannolo siciliana didn't taste fresh, but zesty enough.Plus sides, we wine selection is excellent and well kept (some restaurants i have been to don't know how to keep wine) as is the selection of Grappa, however, i would (always) prefer the option of buying a small bottle of dessert wine rather than by the glass.The double espresso was pretty good. Ok, prima visita per me e mia moglie, siamo andati come una serata romantica. Roba cattiva di mezzo ... Il cibo era ok, era "buono" ma piccole cose lo facevano mancare il segno .. come se la melanzanie parmigianno fosse ok ma troppa mozzarella .. Il Carpaccio di Manzo, ancora .. ok ma mancava di gusto, forse non fresco? Ho avuto il Carpaccio a Roma e in altri ristoranti a Sheffield (ad esempio quello di Vito) che erano chiaramente freschi e molto più saporiti.L'abbiamo seguito con mia moglie che mangiava formaggio di capra e pasta di fichi con salsa di panna e funghi e avevo una bistecca blu. Ancora una volta erano ok, ma la bistecca aveva un sapore un po 'acquoso e la salsa di panna di mia moglie non si sentiva "ispirata"I dessert erano ok, il mio cannolo siciliana non aveva un sapore fresco, ma abbastanza piccante.Inoltre, la nostra selezione di vini è eccellente e ben tenuta (alcuni ristoranti dovevo non sapere come conservare il vino) così come la selezione di Grappa, tuttavia, preferirei (sempre) l'opzione di acquistare una piccola bottiglia di vino da dessert piuttosto che al bicchiere.Il doppio espresso era abbastanza buono.Tutto sommato, felici di tornarci, ma hanno solo bisogno di un po 'più di passione per il loro cibo.

Left Crookes 30 years ago and can’t believe that this place has been there for the last 23 years without us knowing about it! We were a party of 7 and everybody commented on how tasty their food was. The service was also excellent, friendly and attentive.
