A good restaurant serving Portuguese dishes. Personnel very attentive and efficient. The food is good with excellent portions and well cooked and seasoned. One place that will see me again.

Waited and waited for drinks, food cold and flavourless. Have gone downhill Bifana special where was the molho! Bacalhau com natas was batatas com natas!!!

A very good café where the locals tend to eat. If you are looking for a fancy restaurant near the big hotels, then look elsewhere. This place will give you a very decent meal for a very decent price and you’ll be rubbing shoulders with middle class Londoners and other regular folk. Not “touristy”. My favorite place for a proper English breakfast. Add a doughnut and a glass of juice and you’ll pay about 11 pounds.

We had dinner at this restaurant two nights last week. The waitress Isabel was incredibly friendly and polite, making the experience complete. The food was very good (try the garlic and cheese bread, you will be amazed), and the atmosphere was cozy. I highly recommend it!

Probably the best madeirian restaurante in all London. They have all the maderian dishes and also a mini supermarket with a lot of variety of portuguse products.

I was originally brought there by a Portuguese friend and I can assure you that this place is amazing. The food is authentic and the beers and wines coming from Portugal. Stuff is very friendly and happy to assist in choosing between different dishes and wines. There is also a sandwich bar and a grocery where customers can top up some of the good stuff and take back home

Ordered seafood stew with rice, octupus and clam. Octupus is not delicious. A small plate costs 15 pounds. It is served cold. It looks like a pre-made dish. The seafood stew and clam are both good. The portion of stew is huge, enough for 3 girls. The waiters were very nice and charged 12.5% ​​of the consumption. Overall, it's a decent restaurant at home.

The waiter on arrival had a cheerful personality, knew our booking, simply by name. sadly did not get name and with not disrespect walked with a limp, but he was so friendly. I was well pleased with my starter, melon & Parma Ham, as well my friend Calamari. Main meal for me almost perfect house burger with red onions. yes cheese, ham lettuce very tasty and filling, but no onions. fried egg, ok it was tasty not expected. Yes preferred Onions My partner was bit disappointed steak was covered in sauce, would have liked in a jar, taste, then add if necessary, hence 2 stars for food., Service was spot on, however was large in proportion to completion. Just let down by sauce not to be added onto food, allow guest to taste and add to steak.

A good place to find Portuguese

Great venue only marked down due to prices

Great space, very tasty food, but what impresses most is the friendliness of all the staff. I asked to water the soup for my daughter 2 days in a row that I was there and they did it without any hesitation and with great kindness. My daughter is in a wheelchair and they organized everything so we had the necessary space and comfort. Good luck to all of you 💪 whenever I return to London it will be my favorite space 🩷

The best Portuguese food place in London! The staff who served us were wonderful, the girl who took us to the table, Isabel, was always incredible! Their service and good disposition towards customers is a 10/10. The man at the bar was undoubtedly wonderful. Oh!!! The best poncha they made!

Good Portuguese food and good service

Simple and delicious, a bowl of seafood porridge is enough for two people. The garlic octopus is also delicious. Tipping 10% included.

When we arrived at the restaurant, no one came to greet us for a while. We ended up feeling a little lost waiting for someone to tell us where to sit. The service during dinner was good - the gentleman who served us couldn't have done anything better - but the quality of the dinner fell far short of our expectations. Both meals were very salty and had a lot of olive oil in the mix...It was not a good experience. Not even after we talked to the waiter, and asked to remove the sauce from the steak, so we could eat it plain, they didn't even offer a discount. To be honest, it was the most expensive Portuguese restaurant I've ever been to in London and of the lowest quality. I hope you take these points into consideration and improve!

Went today to the deli just next to the cafe/restaurant and selected a cake from the display a “Pata de veado” the display was looking awesome the cakes look fresh and apealing tge cream fresh and yummy. So I took one to go, when I got home started eat to my surprise they gave me the oldest the mos dry cake they had looks to be at least 3 days old not what I ordered. Ridiculous service paid £2.90 for a cake are you serious not even fresh from the day discussing. Next door I sat down with my son to eat, ordered a bolognaise for him it came with a a masive herb they called it, was the whole branch from the herb still intact OMG, my son could have choked on it , the waiter was not even sure what to do.. over priced, and not worth the food on the menu… Not coming back or recommending to anyone.

On vacation in London with my wife and we found this place while out wandering around. So we stopped in for a late breakfast. (They serve breakfast all day 😉) I dove in on the full English breakfast with added avocado and was not at all disappointed. It was excellent. Everything was spot on. The coffee was strong and delicious, and the service was great. Stop in if you're in the area and want a great breakfast on a wonderful patio.

Good representation of the Portuguese-Madeirense cuisine! Due to its location you can hear the trains pass by quite frequently. Personally, that did not disturb me or my visit with my girlfriend at all but i can see how it can be an issue for some. My high expectations of traditional espetadas made me skeptical at first when ordered for one but it was decent and would order it again. The service was great, and truly made me feel like i was back in portugal for one more espetada and superbock!

Steak Portuguese was inedible, tough and fatty, steak knife would not cut it

Definitivamente una queja masiva que haré al director y presentaré una queja de una manera diferente.

Excellent pastel de natas and well priced coffee makes for an excellent lunch break. The staff are lovely and feels like an authentic place to perch in Vauxhall for a quick bite. Would recommend for the pastel de natas alone!

Always a great place for Portuguese delicatessen!!

Tuvimos el desayuno inglés completo. Productos baratos de mala calidad. Llevo años yendo aquí normalmente sólo para tomar un café o llevar. El café es bueno, por lo tanto las 2 estrellas. Hay que evitar el desayuno. Frijoles baratos... horribles hongos... tostados con tocino graso y pan rancio, pero necesitaban dientes fuertes para morderlos.

The restaurant did not live up to expectations. Service was slow, and the food was basic, bland and not very well presented. We felt that it was also overpriced as, in short, it was just an extension of the simple, basic adjoining cafe offering the same standards and quality.

Typical Portuguese restaurant outside Portugal with great service. Shame food was not the best this time. There are better options in London to try “bacalhau com natas” or “espetada”.

4 de nosotros fuimos allí para la cena basado en la buena variedad de opciones en el menú. Nos dieron 2 pizzas “margherita”, 1 orden de mejillones y 1 lubina a la parrilla que venía con papas y verduras hervidas. La pizza era realmente una pizza de queso simple que mis compañeros describieron como “bien”. La salsa para los mejillones estaba deliciosa, pero aproximadamente 1/3 de ellos no habían abierto sus conchas, lo que era desagradable. El pescado a la parrilla era encantador, muy bien preparado y sabroso, pero nunca me dieron el lado de una salsa que había solicitado. Sin embargo, recibimos un bote lleno de mantequilla derretida. Un gran bote de salsa. Lleno de mantequilla. Nadie me explicó para qué servía, pero en parte lo usé para mis verduras, lo cual estaba bien. Tenemos pan y aceitunas. Las aceitunas eran agradables, el pan estaba recién tostado cosas que parecían magdalenas inglesas (solo magdalenas a este lado del charco? ). Nuestro pedido de bebidas salió con 3 de las 4 bebidas solicitadas, y la comida salió con 3 de 4 platos. En cada caso, parecen haberse confundido por el hecho de que 2 personas tomaron la misma bebida y 2 personas tomaron la misma pizza. Lo hicieron bien cuando señalamos el tema. El servicio también fue un poco problemático en otros sentidos. En medio de tomar nuestro pedido el camarero dijo que volvería enseguida. Se fue durante unos 10 minutos y parecía pasar todo el tiempo moviendo otras mesas y limpiándolas. Lo habíamos postergado haciendo preguntas, como “¿cuál es la sopa del día?” Y “¿qué hay en la salsa de la casa?” (Respuesta: “Es solo una salsa normal.”) A su regreso tratamos de poner nuestros pedidos en muy eficiente. También hubo una mezcla - con la factura donde nos cobraron por la ginebra que no recibimos, y fue desmesuradamente complicado explicar eso y corregirlo. El ambiente fue descrito por uno de mis compañeros como “bar deportivo portugués con fútbol italiano en la televisión.” Era amable y acogedor, pero también un poco ruidoso debido a ser capaz de oír los trenes de metro que pasan. Para su crédito, la gente del restaurante se disculpó por todos los errores y nos compensó un poco de desierto mientras nos dirigíamos. Ese gesto fue apreciado, pero no compensó una experiencia tan irregular.

The taste was quite good and the portion was large. The two grown men didn't finish it, so they had the rest, which was in line with Chinese taste.

Dinner at Casa Madeira was . . . An experience. 4 of us went there for dinner based on the nice variety of options on the menu. We got 2 “margherita” pizzas, 1 order of mussels and 1 grilled sea bass which came with boiled potatoes and veggies. The pizza was really a plain cheese pizza which my companions described as “okay.” The sauce for the mussels was delicious, but about 1/3 of them hadn’t opened their shells, which was offputting. The grilled fish was lovely, really nicely prepared and tasty, but I never got the side of a sauce I had requested. However, we received a gravy boat full of melted butter. A large gravy boat. Full of butter. No one ever explained what it was for, but in part I used it for my veggies which was fine. We got bread and olives. The olives were nice, the bread was freshly toasted things that looked like English muffins (just muffins on this side of the pond?). Our drinks order came out with 3 of the 4 requested beverages, and the meal came out with 3 of 4 plates. In each case, they seem to have been confused by the fact that 2 people got the same drink and 2 people got the same pizza. They made it right when we pointed out the issue. The service was also a bit problematic in other ways. In the middle of taking our order the waiter said he’d be right back. He left for about 10 minutes and seemed to spend the entire time moving other tables around and cleaning them off. He had been put off by us asking questions, such as “what is the soup of the day?” And “what is in the house sauce?” (Answer: “It’s just a normal sauce.”) Upon his return we tried to put our orders in very efficiently. There was also a mix-up with the bill where we were charged for gin we didn’t get, and it was inordinately complicated to explain that and get it corrected. The atmosphere was described by one of my companions as “Portuguese sports bar with Italian soccer on TV.” It was friendly and homey but also a bit noisy due to being able to hear the passing tube trains. To their credit, the folks at the restaurant apologized for all the mistakes and comped us some desert as we were heading out. That gesture was appreciated, but didn’t make up for such a spotty experience.

Food it's ok. The space is good and the atmosphere was nice. The customer service by a young student was brilliant and the price of the bitoque was £11 pounds. Very good 💯

Fell in love with everything about this place. The food, service was excellent. The coffee was simply the best!!! The atmosphere was friendly and warm. Those who walk by this place (three parts to this business, a café, restaurant and deli), are really missing out on a wonderful pallet experience. Our host Miquel was the best 👌.

We just had a quick panini in the cafe section for lunch, there was a good variety of fillings and mine was delicious. They have a proper restaurant next door as well as a little deli with wonderful Portuguese treats

Went there yesterday night , ordered peri - peri baby chicken and sardines. The chicken was completely tasteless swimming in oil. They told me was grilled but it wasn't as it didn't taste at all and took them 10 min to bring to the table. The bread was dry and olives were the cheapest and tasteless. The toilets were disgusting . We paid £88 for 2 ppl , no starters , no desserts and for that price we were expecting better food and clean toilets . Nando's chicken it's way better and next time I won't loose my time and money looking for a Portuguese restaurant.

Encontramos Casa Madeira mientras caminaba por la zona cerca de nuestro hotel y fue una experiencia maravillosa. Nos sentamos rápidamente en la zona exterior y nos proporcionaron menús. El camarero fue muy servicial cuando se le preguntó sobre los ingredientes en ciertos platos y feliz de eliminar las cosas como se solicitó. La comida fue cocinada fresca a la orden, así que hubo una espera razonable, pero la comida sin duda valió la pena cuando salió. La pizza de mi hijo era deliciosa y fresca. Hubo un error en la cocina con nuestro plato de compartir, pero lo quitaron y lo rectificaron tan rápido como pudieron cocinar uno fresco. El camarero fue muy disculpado y proporcionó tartas de natillas portuguesas como edulcorante para las molestias, que eran absolutamente deliciosos! Rellenos después del plato de carne mixta pero se fueron de ensueño. Tan cremoso y tan escamoso pastel. También tuvo un vistazo rápido alrededor de su delicatessen, pero se fue rápidamente ya que las rosquillas eran casi imposibles de resistir. Me alegro de haberlo encontrado, gracias. Cócteles también muy buenos (y fuertes! ).

All day breakfast stopped at 3.pm but not stated on menu, meatballs on menu but they had stopped doing them,, they should update there menu, couldnt order omelette because stopped at 11.am on the breakfast menu, not very happy.

We spent the day in London and went to Battersea Park and then walked along the River and found this Portuguese Restaurant and stopped for Lunch as my Husband is Portuguese and we really enjoyed it, good service and good food, highly recommend it it.

We went on a trip to London from Spain and of the four nights we stayed, we had dinner here for three. Phenomenal service and authentic homemade Portuguese food. We were looking for Mediterranean food and we found this place with food of great quality and flavor. They treated us wonderfully every day and we felt at home. Highly recommended

After being told by one member of staff to choose one of two tables, didn’t even stay to eat, as another member approached us before we had a chance to sit down and question if we had a reservation. When we told him no and before even being able to say that his colleague had told us to sit there he shrugged his shoulders and left with a bothered and disapproving look on his face. Didn’t fancy giving our money to such a business.

Very friendly people and the place is very good, spacious inside and with a good terrace. It eats well.

Friendly staff open reasonably late on a week night. I enjoyed the pork and clam stew. The portion was generous and possibly bit enough for two if you don't have a big appetite.

I like the place, the food is decent and affordable for London. The service can be slow and haphazard, especially when it’s busy. Thank god none of those bloody social media influencers have made it famous yet.

The food is not authentic portuguese, the portuguese flavours are not there anymore. I had the cod, but unfortunately, it was dry and tastless. The service was very slow. We were left to wait for ages after the main menu. The staff are always running from one side to the other, it's a quite stressful environment. Perhaps they were short on staff on that day. There's no attention to the customer, but then they add the " service charge" to your bill without asking. I find this is a practice that places in general should review and let the customers decide if they want to leave a tip or not. Considering the service was very poor. Unfortunately we didn't have a good experience and there's definitely better portuguese restaurants in London.

If you are looking for real food that tastes delicious in London, the Portuguese restaurant Casa Madeira is the place to go! For the Portuguese living in London like me, this is just heaven! Next door there's the cafe type of place and there is also a Portuguese grocery shop which is very convenient. Can't recommend enough!

The paella is so big that two people can't finish it. There is half a lobster with claws in it, which is very suitable for Chinese tastes. King scallops, seared scallops with flavored butter, delicious. Octopus is added with olive oil, onions, garlic, and parsley. The octopus has a soft and waxy texture and a fresh taste. It is an excellent appetizer. The roast beef was just average, not recommended.

Decent place for an evening informal dinner and close by to Vauxhall station.

Only had coffee and drinks but all were excellent. Very tasty espresso and the madeira was top notch. Whilst we didn't eat the food looked great and the people eating seemed very happy!!!

Amazing for traditional well made portuguese food

I loved the Arroz De Marisco! Packed with seafood, it's deliciously reminiscent of Cantonese seafood congee and surprisingly affordable. A must-visit for an authentic and budget-friendly seafood experience.

I love Portuguese food and often dine in one of the many restaurants in Little Portugal, not too far from Vauxhall. When one of my Portuguese colleagues recommended me Casa Madeira I was intrigued. She described it as the best Portuguese with exquisite food and attentive service. It wasn't our experience. Upon arrival, we were redirected from the entrance of the restaurant to the outside area. The outside area looked abandoned, a green carpet underneath the table covered in leaves and dry out liquids. From our table, we could smell fainted sick, like someone thrown up there the day before. The waiter came quickly, and ordering was smooth. We ordered too many dishes and got moved to a bigger table, that was the last time they interacted with us. It felt like our table wasn't assigned to any waiter. No one came back to ask if the food was okay, or take our mains order or ask for drinks. Quite we could see them doing to the tables around us. We waited for a while, eating through our tapas, then decided to just leave it. I had to call a waiter to get the bill, it took another while, we both went to the toilet, they cleaned up the table etc before we got it. After receiving it, they left again, and we were once again ignored. Mind you, we watch them taking care of other table with attentive service, quick clean up and bill/payments. We eventually had to go back inside to get someone attention. Disappointing, not sure what my friend saw in this restaurant. The food was okay but not too fresh. We will stick to our local Little Portugal community.

This cool little restaurant under the railway bridge is a little gem. Although its menu is primarily Portuguese, we had the pizza, which was very nice. The custard tarts were the best I've ever had. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed.

My boyfriend and I came here on my birthday last Saturday since I haven't been to Madeira in almost a year I was missing the cuisine. I got "Prego especial no nolo do caco" and my boyfriend got "bitoque de frango" both of which were very delicious, authentic and good value for money. For dessert we obviously got a pastel de nata and they were so creamy!! Definitely recommend especially if you're from the island like myself - very authentic, plus all staff speak Portuguese.

As a client for many years I'm very disapointed as I spent a lot of money the other day at Madeira Deli when I purchased a few Pasteis de Nata, rissois de camarão, pasteis de bacalhau they were very old I will never go back or recommed anyone as I had a really bad experience.

We live in Bournemouth and every time we travel to London we have to pay a visit to this restaurant. The service it has always been 5*, the food that makes you feel that you are truly in Portugal. Márcio was very helpful serving us, very polite and friendly.

Nice, comfortable place to sit outside, but let down by the food. Very average ingredients, disappointing coffee and watery "fresh" juice. Also staff seems forgetful (asked twice for tap water and none delivered).

This cafe / restaurant is a gem of a find in the area, does very nice take away lunches with tasty, alluring fillings at a very reasonable price. I enjoyed the ciabattas and decent coffee. I was so happy to have stumbled across this eatery and shall return. I felt like I was abroad in here 😋😊 The staff are efficient and this place is authentic and staff remember you.

Wonderful restaurant with a community atmosphere. Made my family feel at home even with our little one needing to find food near our hotel without reservations. I was worried at first but they accommodated us with excellent and prompt service. Excellent octopus, scallops, steak, beer, pizza, and sangria.

The old people are running around, the young people are behind the counter (a reshuffle of internal human resources is necessary), the pasta is a little too greasy, the wine is very good, the meat dishes are well prepared...the passage of train above the restaurant is a bit ''surprising''. Overall it's the best thing we found in the area. Eating in London is a major challenge, the smallest dish costs 25 euros and the prices do not include service, between 10 and 12.5% ​​extra. The 20% VAT does not help them, a stupid desire of the government to want to crush essential people. A pasta dish for 14 euros. My waiter, who was in his 50s, caused me a lot of grief, he limped all evening while young, strong and muscular bartenders remained behind the counter wiping glasses. This is a very convenient and easy place to get a cup of coffee or more, if you are in the Vauxhall area. Hasn't changed very much. There is a cafe bit and also a more restaurant-led bit at the back of the inside. On a hot day. It's great to sit outside. They do teas, coffees and all the right snack type. Things like baked potatoes and sandwiches, and the cakes are huge. It's a little tired around the edges, but that doesn't take away from the charm or the very traditional Portuguese feel of it

Casa Madeira has always extended a courteous welcome and provided very decent food and drink served promptly and with a smile. A bonus is being able to go to the shop next door for all manner of Portuguese goodies.
