Food was lovely although only had tha afternoon tea. So full 😋. Service was good. Very attentive. Probably because it was quiet. I think if it was busy the atmosphere would've been better. We enjoyed it. Thanks

This once elegant hotel is sadly confusing as a space and poorly run. We booked for lunch and were sent away for arriving 30min early “we are still clearing breakfast”. We were kindly received and served in the bar, only to return to the restaurant where there was nobody to seat us, after a time we were shown to our table which had been had been laid for afternoon tea. On reviewing the menu there was no vegetarian option, but a message to ask. When we asked there was confusion and the server left to enquire, another server came to offer a “vegan steak”, made of “fake meat”. Really? We didn’t stay for lunch.

The restaurant was very quiet so there wasn’t much atmosphere. The food was very poor for the price they charge, the chef and wait staff could benefit from extra training to improve quality of service and the food. We left and went elsewhere as weren’t prepared to stick around to experience the main course.

Very nice decor and feel of restaurant - a lot of potential. Good cocktails on menu. Sadly it is bad value for money - for the price of items on the menu, food was nowhere near the quality it should be. Also service was very slow, possibly understaffed as restaurant wasn’t busy but within an hour we had only received our starter (which was missing elements from its description on the menu). Other diners nearby also had similar issues. However, staff recognised the issues which was reflected in the bill - cost of some food elements taken off to make up for quality and slow service. Particular thanks to the manager Will whoever was very reasonable and understanding about our experience. If staying here, there are many other options to explore in Harrogate centre itself instead.

We visited with friends on a Saturday evening, looking forward to the experience and delicious food. The hotel & restaurant are stunning in decor but I’m afraid the food tragically let the whole experience down. The starters were tasteless & cold, I had the mushroom & my husband had the moules. How could they come from the kitchen cold? Hoping for an improvement with the main, our cod loin arrived sat on top of 4 halves of new potatoes & 3 leaves of kale. The menu advertised crushed potatoes & purple sprouting broccoli. After questioning this, we were told they were out of season? 🤷♀️ Once again the food was cold & had little flavour. We complained to two waitresses & each time we were offered the cheese sharing board, by which time we were ready to get out of there! Needless to say we won’t be returning! Harrogate has many restaurants & competition is high. I’m sorry to say that Carters won’t be at the top of our list to revisit anytime soon.

Staff couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast was delicious. Lots of options and could ask for veggie or vegan sausages on request too. The pancake maker was really cool

The picture is the first impression you get of the restaurant. The house has been beautifully renovated and the food is very good. However the service is bad. We wanted to have afternoon tea around 2 p.m. The restaurant was empty except for four occupied tables. One of the waiters wanted to send us away because all the other tables were already set for a bus tour group's dinner at 7 p.m. There was a table in the dark corner where the other guests were already sitting. The walking distance for the employees was probably the shortest. Chlorinated water (in Harrogate!!!!) and paper napkins don't give you a feeling of luxury either.

We had our 3 course set menu on our anniversary here for 5 people. The restaurant itself was majestic. The server was good although he didn’t clean our table after our maincourse ( to clean some bit of pieces of meat, crumbs and spilled gravy on the table. I wiped it out by myself ) before the desserts is served. Overall the food is fantastic and value for money. Adding extra point is the anniversary dessert cake they served to me and hubby. Very happy indeed. Recommend this place.

Spent a night in Harrogate, as a part of the “spa break” we’re offered £25 pp to dine in Carters. The service was okay, people were friendly but not very professional. Ie gave us dessert without the dessert spoon. I asked for extra napkins during the first course but the waiter seemed to forget about that. But that’s fine. Food is just not good. I ordered a cauliflower soup, Mac n cheese and a creme brûlée. Soup was not hot, max and cheese looked very sad (hence I was sad enough to not take a photo of it so sorry I don’t have proof), and creme brûlée was overly sweet and artificial scented and runny textured. Seriously put me off and I just wish the chefs can see this post. Please have more passion on all the dishes. My partner ordered a duck and it was good, but the portion of the appetizer and the mains are just off, appetizers too small and mains just packed with carbs. My mac n cheese was a full plate of pasta with some slices of grated cheese… Should’ve chose other mains but that was what I was craving for and I hope they can do better as a fine dining restaurant and have more passion in making better food.

Oh. My. GOD. Let me tell you about my night at this pub in Knaresborough because, honey, it was an absolute disaster – and not the fun, reality-TV kind. No, this was the kind of drama that would make a telenovela look like a casual tea party. I sauntered in, thinking I was about to have the night of my life – and with this face, why wouldn’t I? The place was cute enough, I’ll give it that, and I thought, “This might actually be fabulous.” But oh no, darling, the universe had other plans. First off, the online ordering system was down. DOWN. In 2024! I mean, I might as well have been trying to send a telegram! The whole point of going to a pub these days is to sip a cocktail while casually tapping away on your phone, right? But noooo. Instead, I had to walk to the bar like some peasant from the 1800s. The nerve! The bar? PACKED. I could feel the wrinkles forming as I waited, endlessly, for someone to notice me. And when they finally did? They had the audacity to act like it was my fault that their ancient system had crumbled. I swear, I was two seconds away from giving them a live performance of “And I Am Telling You” right there. But wait, there’s a twist: the toilets. GORGEOUS. I mean, I walked in and thought I’d been transported to a high-end spa. Marble, mirrors, the lighting was divine—honestly, it was like a little slice of heaven in the middle of this disaster zone. I spent more time in the bathroom admiring the décor than I did actually eating or drinking. Priorities, darling. So, here’s the tea: if you’re after a stunning restroom experience, by all means, swing by. But if you’re hoping for decent service or a smooth ordering process, save yourself the heartbreak. I left hungry, frustrated, but at least with a fabulous selfie from the loo. 1.5 stars – And that’s only because the toilets SLAYED.

Unfortunately the Railway Inn is still closed with apparently no date for reopening. The Railway Inn is owned by Samuel Smith's brewery and no further information is available.

Chanced upon this food cart at the A1 northbound service centre in Wetherby. Had the traditional cornish pasty - it was served hot and was delicious! Except for the hand-crimped part of the pastry which was too doughy, the pastry and filling tasted great together.

Handy for a cuppa after work or during a shop. The cafe is situated in the simply food store and it’s clients are generally local. Good service and bright and airy cafe. Huge windows mean it gets very hot in sunny weather. No outside seating.

The service is terrible. The restaurant staff were too busy worrying about the take away orders to do anything for us. We helped ourselves to napkins and plates. The belt had no plates on it as we arrived which did improve and the kitchen staff did their best to respond to our request ! Expensive too.
