Carluccios - Stratford-upon-Avon in Stratford-on-Avon

We were celebrating 50 years of nursing in Queen Elizabeth Birmingham and chose Carluccio's for around 18 of us who could attend. Daniel and Cyprian (managers) helped us with our reservation and wonderful dining experience. The table was well prepared beforehand and our choices (previously sent) came out very quickly and superbly presented. Daniel managed to get all drinks required and all meals out so we could eat together. Excellent ! Happy days! Thanks to all staff involved.

Very average to poor food, the pizza was undercooked almost raw and the pasta sauce looked and tasted like it was left over from the night before. We booked for 12:0 because we had the kids with us, the place was empty, now I see why

Disappointing as in the past we have enjoyed set menu. Waited ages for it to arrive, part of main ingredient missing and then overcharged on bill. Won’t be rushing back anytime soon as too many other better restaurants in Stratford.

Wide choice for breakfast. We sat outside in the sun where the ambiance was very relaxed until a family arrived and allowed their children to play loud video games whilst they waited for their food. Not the fault of the restaurant. Food and drinks were beautifully presented and very tasty. We’ll return.

Plenty of room in restaurants, I had the Milanese Chicken burger which was nice. Wife had the Lasagne again was tasty. Fairly quick service. Menu looks varied with choice and prices were average for the area. Yes…. Nice place to eat.

Great authentic Italian dining We took the kids and had an amazing meal, kids options were well priced and the adult’s menu was at an exceptional standard. Will be back for more.

Had our pre-theatre meal last night. Risotto Funghi and Seafood Linguine. Bread and Butter pudding and a Choc fondant. Sadly the squid on the seafood dish was inedible, too rubbery to bite through. A couple of pieces I could chew through still had the membrane on. The rest of the dish was delicious as was my partner's mushroom risotto. They also had the bread and butter pudding which they liked very much. Seriously disappointed again when the fondant arrived as a shiny sculptured ball shape. It did have some nice runny chocolate inside but the rest was inedible again being thick stodgy dough. On discussion with the mgr they confirmed it was a premade frozen pudding and that is what they are sent. Oh well.. wont be having that again. Ps ... don't put it on the menu as a fondant - it isn't one!! And PPS... please fix the locks on ladies toilet doors and make sure there is loo paper in there. Finally, service was good.

Very poor microwaved food ..tiramisu was tasteless ..and coffee barely warm and tiny ..very disappointed! I expected a lot more by looking at the place ..but big disappointment

We had 4 main meals and 1 child’s .. the portions are tiny for the main courses, we sent one back the carbonara as the bacon lardons were cremated thus was changed quickly with the new one double in size and bacon fine.. the child’s chicken burger was inedible the chicken was so over cooked it was hard , by this time we didn’t bother changing it .. expensive for poor quality ingredients.. shame !

We booked online expecting it to be busy, but needn’t have bothered, only a third full when we arrived. Pleasant staff, service was good, food very nice (especially the tiramisu). Only gripe that despite being hardly anyone in there we got sat directly next to the ‘welcome desk’ at the front of the restaurant. Not a big issue but staff kept coming back and forth for cleaning cloths and spray which got left next to us for our meal plus the constant coming and going for menus. Just felt odd and slightly distracting seeings as though there were loads of free tables.

My family and I went out to eat for my father's birthday and were shocked at how much the restaurant had changed since we were there as children. The quality of the food had gone down and the customer service was not good. My sister's seafood pasta was cold and the seafood was almost still frozen. The limited menu for allergen information was very limited and there was little attempt to offer inclusive dishes. The restaurant supposedly closes at 8 but they packed up the chairs at least an hour before. I understand that some people want to go home early, but if that's the case, you shouldn't take reservations after a certain time. Also, the bar next to our table was a constant din from the wine bottles and other glass bottles being discarded in a bin behind the bar near to us. No consideration was given to our feelings during the meal and as one person in our party is partially deaf, this really dampened their experience. I don't think I could eat here again, as much as I would like to come back, but it has changed too much for the worse.

I was at Carluccios late last year with my friends and I was hoping for one of their wonderful lasagnas that I used to get every time I ate here when I was a kid, but when it came to the table, the portion size was outrageous for the price and so was the quality, there was hardly any meat and the cheese was lumpy and didn't taste good, a friend of mine ordered the steak and it came cold and not prepared as he had requested, it had come with truffle butter but the butter wasn't soft and warm, it was still mostly frozen. We didn't stay for dessert.

The food and service was outstanding. I booked a table online and stated a child had a dairy allergy. When we arrived they explained everything which she could or couldn’t have. The server even checked with the chef about everything. They were extremely attentive to us and the food was lovely Would highly recommend to anyone to go and eat. They were great dealing with the allergy

Went to Stratford-upon-Avon for the Christmas Market and decided to call in for food and wasn't disappointed the food was excellent great selection to pick from washed down with a Peroni and lastly a Latte

Be very careful disclosing any dietary requirements. If you do so, you will be handed an ipad on which you tick your dietary needs, and an adapted menu will then appear from which you can select the foods suitable. Sounds great, doesn't it? Really inclusive. Except you then realise that almost every single item of food they serve has now been blanked out and the staff make clear to you that they will not serve you any food at all that is not now available on the ipad. No alternatives, not even basic common sense food, just nothing. I had a simple milk intolerance and was left not even able to order vegan food on the grounds that 'it might be contaminated'. I had to sit while my family ate: the restaurant wouldn't serve me once I declared this. This is an example of what looks like inclusive practice actually being used to exclude and protect self interest. Will not be using Carluccios again, which is a shame after years of loving their food, and will be very careful about disclosing to restaurants now that I have any such issues. As a wheelchair user, I will also be interested to see what other 'inclusive' arrangements appear to allow an organisation to avoid the inconvenience of me in other ways.

What a disappointment! Food took 50 minutes to arrive at table - told twice at 15 minute intervals “it was being plated up”, Obviously just buying time, not even that busy. When asked excuse being “well chefs on his own”, knowing we were a theatre booking, would rather they had been honest from the beginning if they were going to struggle. Felt sorry for the waitress. First and last time!

Went in as a party of 8 waited 20 mins for drinks. Drinks arrived ice had melted in glass as they had been sitting on bar for 20 mins. never got our garlic bread or salad we ordered. food was disgusting. pasta not cooked so was crunchy, no taste, kids meals had tiny portions that my 12 year old laughed at. kids lasagne was size of a matchbox!!!! one of the worst meals i’ve eaten in years. Refused to pay. Avoid this restaurant, it’s garbage. Will not be returning.

We visited as a party of 6 for lunch, food was good quality and freshly prepared. We had a selection of starters, main courses and a couple of puddings. All food consumed was washed down with a selection of wines and beers. Overall a very pleasant visit with good company.

We have always been big fans and patrons of our local Carluccio's but I am afraid they have lost the plot at least when it comes to breakfast. From terrible bullet-hard potatoes, totally over cooked eggs ("oh yes we knew these were wrong" - so why send them out!!), slimy courgette and water logged spinach, a slice of minuscule toast, something has gone horribly wrong at Carluccio's. Aside from the fact 80% of the breakfast menu is dominated by eggs (so you better like eggs), the care and quality of the Carluccio's breakfast has hit rock bottom. I cannot imagine the chef who cooked our breakfast today would want to eat what they served, let alone pay £15-20 for the pleasure. Sadly we are not going to make the same breakfast mistake again - it'll be coffee and croissants next time.

Visited midweek with family including infant, v friendly meet and greet, usual interesting menu, we ate seafood pasta, chicken saltimbocca and risotto, all well presented , v tasty and good portions. The only negative involved tipping - our waitress said that if we tipped on the card they don’t see it so we gave cash. With the bad publicity Carluccios had concerning this a couple of years ago is this still true?

Good food and nice waitress. But…Saturday night booking for 8.30 and (fortunately as it happens) we arrived early at 8.10. Soon became clear we were expected to leave by 9. Bill was presented without our request. Music was turned off. We still had wine to finish so took the bottle away with us. Why accept a booking for 8.30? We would have gone elsewhere if we’d known. Carluccios used to be great. Not any more sadly.

Well, when something isn’t near perfect you have to acknowledge it; this was near perfect! Ciprian and Tomas were excellent front of house. The chicken Milanese was delicious! Restaurant was pretty busy compared IHT others in Stratford.

We always come here for a breakfast when visiting Stradford, however this time we had a someone who is lactose intolerant with us, saw that there was a childs vegan breakfast available, this contains milk so not vegan, please be aware if you are unable to have dairy.

Hi after having read the reviews for this restaurant while I was waiting for my food I was very concerned what the food was going to be like We ordered two Seafood Linguini’s and a Lasagna Everything was lovely arrived promptly and the service was excellent

On a recent trip to Stratford-upon-Avon, we decided to have a relaxed Monday lunch at Carluccio's. We were served by Emma who was extremely helpful and despite there being a couple of minor issues, made our two plus hour meal an enjoyable one. The issues were not showstoppers; my husband was served linguine instead of spaghetti (but says the dish was just as enjoyable) and my sage & butter ravioli lacked sage but still had good flavour. The starters, sides and desserts were very tasty. The service was very good. We had a long chat with Emma (and in turn the manageress) about our overall meal. All in all, we would go back again as it reminded us of the old days when it was a pleasure to sit back and enjoy a nice slow Italian lunch, rather than stuff something into your mouth whilst walking along the street.

We stand outside we wait and seen a couple free tables we made our way to them when a rude dark hair lady comes out saying nonononononono ( not even a hello or any form of politeness just nonononono so ok me and my family of five left and gone to zizzi, your lost i be not be visiting your Stratford restaurant again

AVOID. Dropped in for an anniversary meal, ordering and food took forever. Poor Service, bland tasteless food, Friendly waitress cover too many areas, unfriendly management staff so clearly operating without enough staff and an inability to acknowledge it. Just gave up trying to get a desert or the bill and went in to ask for it to be told by the manager that its table service i.e. we should wait. She obviously didn't get it that we had had poor service, especially as she just walked off. I note from the reviews they always say (Dawn) that they will try to acknowledge or sort their failings but obviously they dont. And to the rude manager when your customers are such an inconvenience to you its time to try another job. I have eaten at a lot of Carluccio's and this was the worst and wont be going there again.

This was probably the worst meal I have had in 50 years. We were a party of 5. My meal was not what was ordered and truly horrible to the extent that I didn’t want to eat it. My wife’s salad was not as in the menu. The carbonara was not a carbonara and the Milanese chicken was poorly cooked. I made an error when I went to the desk and paid. Whilst I was there, the waitress offered to take the price of my meal off the bill. I was not offered that refund as we passed the manager on the way out. You eat there at your peril.

We visited Carluccios this evening and I’m very sad to say this restaurant is going downhill. The food was lukewarm and “average” and overpriced. The restaurant is short staffed and has no atmosphere. Please buck your ideas up, I used to enjoy coming here to eat but if this continues I will walk.

We chose Carlyccio’s as it is near the Swan Theatre. Food was fresh and tasty. The restaurant was busy but service from the only 2 waiting staff was excellent. Special thanks to Emma who served our table, always with a smile

Terrible food, service was poor. It’s just a chain, tourist destination so doesn’t need to rely on repeat visitors- so lower your expectations. A shame as it was half decent a few years ago. Zero atmosphere and looks tired and some visible damage inside, neglected.

The food was great, Ciptian and Monica looked after us very well, good atmosphere, all courses turn up in good time , and tasted great we had a party of 10 so that is sometimes hard to juggle , but all went well
