Brilliant Sicilian food, service par excellence. It’s a pity we discovered this gem on our last day at Liverpool. Tried 4 of their signature pasta dishes and some dessert. Mind blowing food.

Me and my friend had finished our food and coffee, and instead of feeling rushed to pay the bill, they waiter came and topped our water up so we could keep having a catch up. I will definitely be returning and I have been recommending this restaurant to everyone I have spoken to since! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Amazing scran and wine for a very affordable price but waited 30-40 mins for our pre booked table. Night saved by my man luca the waiter though cos he got us free dessert

This was one of the most disastrous services I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant ever! The waiter was asking for our food order before the drinks came which took about 20 minutes after we were eventually seated. When the food came we ordered our second drink which also took around 20 minutes to receive! We gave up asking for a dessert because we’d probably still be waiting there now! We then asked for the bill and watched the staff member walking about looking lost. She didn’t seem to know the table numbers or layout. I eventually spoke to the girl and told her how long we’d waited to get the bill. She just laughed! Eventually we got the bill for the table next to us! This mistake would have saved us at least £20, but we told them that we’d got the wrong bill & finally got the correct bill and paid it. The server who went to get the card machine looked embarrassed as he probably knew the night was a complete mess too! The service was a complete shambles. The only saving grace was the food we had was lovely. Heads up to the chef and kitchen staff who did a great job. We won’t be back because they obviously haven’t got enough staff to cope with the amount of customers they cram in.

Well, no! And again no! Waited 45 mins for a focaccia which I have been told it is sold out so? So what? Nothing to compensate , no recommendations ! Incredibly loud environment , crumped place and slow really slow service . I am sorry but it seems that they don’t really care

Went here for a date and absolutely lovely food, it cannot be faulted in terms of quality. Our only issue was the starters and desserts where largely sold out, meaning we had to choose from a limited selection. Again, the limited selection was still delicious, and the staff could not have been more helpful. We will absolutely be returning again when in the area.

Have just had a meal at this wonderful restaurant, our 1st visit and definitely not our last! We were out celebrating our 13th Wedding Anniversary and what a place to celebrate. From the staff, to the ambience and the food, oh the food, could not praise this restaurant enough. Thank you to the staff for a wonderful experience, very tentative and friendly. To the Chef what a taste sensation, loved ever bite of my own and my husbands meal!!!! Would highly recommend this place, a must visit, 5 Star!!!!

Really nice food, but waiting over 30 minutes at our table and then having to ask for service for somebody to pass us on to somebody else isnt the best, I almost left. They seemed to be prioritsing a large table and we were made to feel like an inconvenience, shame because I thought the food was really good. Due to the apparent chaos with the staff, we wont be going back.

Great service, amazing food. Celebrated a birthday with another visit here today, me, my wife and 3 children. Really looked after by staff, waiting staff were amazing and really helpful, nothing was too much for them including a request from our youngest about a particular dish. Food is amazing, service was fast and really nice atmosphere. Can't wait for our next visit.

Celebrating the end of my prostate cancer treatment 7/12/2023 with some of the family - wife, grandchild, sisters in law and niece so all ages covered. Our server Alfie was brilliant a real hoot and made a special contribution to our night. However the star of the show was the food we had about 15 very different meals and starters all shared and all wonderful. The speciality on the night (I had) was superb. The atmosphere was excellent with a full house upstairs and downstairs (make sure you book!) The place is spotlessly clean and as I mentioned earlier the service was great

Have visited previously on a number of occasions and had good experiences however, this visit wasn't great. We had booked but it took 10 minutes to seat us as the table wasn't ready. We then waited 30 minutes for drinks to be brought and another long wait for our food order. Food was nice but portions are smaller.

Another amazing meal at Carlisi’s Allerton Rd for my partners 30th birthday lunch. Having just come back from travelling across Sicily & Italy, I can categorically state the food here is truly authentic! In fact their Arancini is better than what we had in Palermo. This is an authentic Sicilian restaurant with an exceptional host. Alessio makes you feel like he is inviting you into his own home and really does give a personal touch that makes you want to return. This place has bags of atmosphere and superb dishes. Always ask if there are any specials, as they really do deliver and give you an insight into dishes you may never have tried. The service is not rushed and really does give you that southern Mediterranean feel of a social dining experience. The hospitality and feel of this restaurant is unsurpassed in Liverpool. A truly exceptional experience on all levels. If you feel like being transported to the southern Mediterranean on a wet and cold Liverpool day, you have to go to Carlisi.

Great menu but service wasn't perfect. Waited a while for drink orders to arrive and there were long waits between courses. When I was unsure about a choice, the server said he'd ask the kitchen to adjust it more to my liking. The communication wasn't great as it arrived as standard and then when he said he'd bring me something extra to go with it, it never appeared. There were discrepancies between portion sizes even though my friends had ordered the same item both as a main. The restaurant was super busy that evening, had they bitten off more than they could chew? I believe their daytime service is quicker and smoother.

I'd heard people say great things about this place and after visiting I can add my voice to that group too. fantastic all round. the staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We had a couple of arancini and a couple of pasta dishes, found it hard to pick a favourite. fresh ingredients put together with care made the outcome delicious. Big shout out to Taylor for being the loveliest waiter. I will definitely return

Had a long day so I made a very last minute decision not to cook a roast and to go for one instead - at 7.30pm ! Looking around for a Sunday roast dinner in a dog friendly restaurant meant there were a lot of options - and so pleased there weren’t - because it meant walking into Carlisi’s and getting to experience their Italian Sunday roast. Both my children had the roast dinner and I had the lasagne - feedback on the roast was that it was one of the nicest they have ever had despite the traditional yorkshire pudding not part of the Sunday roast - which was forgiven as it was Italian roast style. My lasagne was meaty and mega tasty - topped over with a couple of gorgeous deserts which we shared. Homemade tirimisu was delightful. All the staff were friendly welcoming and service was top notch. I did bring my dog also and the staff were very accommodating. Highly recommend - thank you Carlisi.

Worst meal out I have experienced. Waited over an hour for inedible food. The bread was rock hard. Didn’t get told one item wasn’t available until 45 minutes after. Manager and the waitress were extremely rude - no people skills. The matcha was all milk. Bacon was undercooked. Lasagne had been reheated and burnt. Ordered 3 lasagnes one was tiny has no sauce and one was huge. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!

Come for the food, come back for everything else. Alessio and his team have created an authentic, Mediterranean setting that transports it's customers from the rain and the cold to a Sicillian Summers day. They are the most attentive and friendly staff anyone could ask for, the food is incredible and the wine is beautiful too. Their passion oozes from every dish and it takes an almighty effort not to order everything the menu has to offer. A brilliant experience and I can't recommend them enough. Delicioso!!!

Had an amazing breakfast this morning and took away a cannoli which was unreal!

We've been to the one in Dale St and found the food there to of a very high standard, so we decided to travel to their new restaurant in the south of Liverpool which a much more expanded menu We were not disappointed the food was delicious and service despite the restaurant being very busy was excellent with a special mention to Alfredo and Federico.will definitely visit again although that means a North ender travelling South of the city centre haha

My son booked for his mother and my wife's passing away anniversary with our family unfortunately everything was a complete disaster from wrong meals which some of our party accepted but we arrived at 7.00pm and my main course which was bruscheta and belly pork arrived at 9.00pm after most of the party had eaten I asked for mine to be boxed for a takeaway as some of the party had to go home to kids when I got home the meal was ham and mushrooms on bruscheta Maybe we were unlucky but will never return beware do not attend when busy

I'm certainly disappointed with my experience here, I have rated this very high in the past but now they need to get their act together. The lasagne I ordered was just pasta sheets with nothing in between with a bit of bolognaise on top. The bread I ordered as started with olives was stale. The feta salad was all salad leaves hardly anything else, my partner ordered a pasta dish with extra Italian sausages which to be honest you really had to dig and find. Get a grip Carlisi, bring it back up to standard as I'm truly disappointed, bring the prices of your wine back down, its not London.

I attend carlisi tonight and the food was nice and the service was great, I was considering going back but when I went the toilet downstairs I noticed the ikea baby high chairs stacked / stored next to the toilet, which is very unhygienic. I hope someone reads this review and changes the system as it really put me off returning with my baby which is a shame.

We've been twice now and definitely learned our lesson not to return. It took honestly ages to get our drinks order taken, then we asked three times for our food order to be taken... They brought out a starter that was not the starter we ordered because they apparently ran out of the started we ordered, but decided not to tell us and see if they could get away with giving us something we didn't order... hard to believe because if we had allergies this would have been horrendous! We both ordered a special pasta that was around £19 each, it was the worst meal we've genuinely ever had. Really not authentic food and really poor service sadly...

This was my third visit to Carlisi on 24th January. . First time was excellent, second good but this last time was challenging. Very poor service, we were constantly having to ask for our drinks & when they arrived always something missing. Food was mediocre & once again our choice of dessert “ had sold out”. Staff are charming but inefficient! I’d have to think long & hard before returning.

The best Italian meal I have had. I have travelled extensively in Italy and love the authenticity of the food. Tonight I had probably the best Italian meal I have ever had. Brilliant wines, amazing arancini and caponata but the best truffle ravioli with truffle butter sauce I have ever eaten. My wife loved her sea bass main with heritage carrots and potatoes. Grazie mille to Alessio and his team with special mentions to Niles and Hope. Brilliant all round experience. This must be what Billy Joel meant when he sang about his Italian restaurant 🙏🙏🙏

Pre Christmas meal with the missus and our first time at Carlisi. Lovely vibe and decor. Seating is relaxed and creates intimate areas for diners and larger areas for groups. Sicilian streetfood starters were tasty treats and our mains excellent. Great wines and our Grillo was crisp with lovely acidity and citrus overtones. I have to say the cinnamon panacotta was sublime. Finished with a limoncello and a coffee. Thank you Alessio and the team for a perfect evening. Grazie mille 🙏🙏

My first visit for Dinner, oh my days, it was wonderful, Staff are Fabulous, Food amazing, lovely environment, what's not to like. I had the Lobster Ravioli, my Friend had the Ox Cheek Rissotto, followed by Pannacotta. Can't recommend Carlisi enough, please go and try it, you wont be disappointed.

I was craving a coffee and something sweet and decided to try this place, it didn't disappoint. The coffee it was so nice and smooth and good quality, we had a tiramisu and it was the perfect amount of sweet, flavours, delicate as it should be, delicious. Also had a panino and again, delicious, the bread must be sour dough, fresh just like Italian bread very autentic crunchy, toasted and cheesy. The service its very good and the people that work there very welcoming and friendly. We will be back for sure.

We are local to the restaurant, and we eat here around once a month. We have a lot of experience therefore eating here. Before it was Carlisi it was Maray, which was also good. My reviews are always on value for money, and here it is exceptional. Most food is fine, but the pasta dishes are the highlight and excellent. Arancini are street food in Sicily and based around rice. They are not intended as fine dining. They cost around £4.50 each! My wife and I share one and generally have the olives with bread. 2 small pasta dishes then normally follow. Excellent bottles of white and red at £29.95 each. ( this narrows it down for you). Cocktails are good, and Peroni on draught. Starters small pasta mains, a cocktail, pint of Peroni, bottle of wine. £87 including 10% tip last time. Service is decent and some staff new. They do however get people with a bit of character serving, to whom the whole process does not seem a chore. Quite difficult in hospitality these days from my experience. There is better food in Liverpool, but probably only the Pen Factory betters it at this price, and that’s in town.

One of those places where you'd go once but not go back unfortunately. Bruschetta's were bland, and had tinned mushrooms on (big no no). Main was just about average for a basic lasagne; desserts ok. Venue itself is cold looking and uninviting

After initial first time bring great , second visit was very disappointing. I took my mum for a treat one lunch time was quite busy but still a few tables available. When ordering almost everything we asked for had ran out. Me and my mum ordered my favourite arancini to start. They arrived and where literally inedible they where that overcooked they where solid. Then our mains came we both ordered the same prawn pasta but I got the small size and my mum got the large she literally had 4 prawns in hers the same as mine but hers cost double!? Was such a shame as I had loved my first visit there and had told my mum how great it was. I gave feedback privately but heard nothing back which I thought was very rude also.

Went for a birthday meal, just 3 of us. Service was not only slow, but unattentive. We were looking forward to the arancini, but they arrived overcooked. We waited 50 minutes to get our mains, without anyone coming to our table to explain the wait. Disappointed with the whole experience.

Visited yesterday with my friend and loved it here. We had the Arancini Ragu and Bruschetta Manchego which we shared to start. Both had the Lasagne and then shared the Tiramisu and Cannoli to finish. Polished off with a nice bottle of Gavi. Everything was just delicious. Staff were great and atmosphere was friendly and buzzing. I already know what I’m having in my next visit which will be soon - highly recommend!

My friend and I visited Carlisi for the first time last Saturday. As we walked down Allerton Road, we couldn't help but notice how bustling the restaurant was. Outside it was brimming with customers enjoying their meals and drinks outside. The restaurant staff greeted us warmly and made us feel very welcome. The menu offered a wide variety of options at affordable and reasonable prices. And the food? It was absolutely delightful! We shared with a few small starters (the arancini was especially delicious), followed by a main pasta dish, and capped off our meal with some cannoli, which were possibly the best I've had outside of Italy. I can't recommend Carlisi enough!

Visited recently with my daughters , nice buzz in the busy restaurant. Service was attentive. Cocktails lovely, I had a margarita. Sicilian wine was lovely. We had bruschetta and seafood ravioli followed by the Sicilian rolled pancakes, very tasty . Will definitely return

We both had focaccia for brunch & it was delicious. The staff were very friendly and happy to allow you to create your own sandwich to preference. The coffee was also really nice. Strong enough but not sharp & bitter as is often the case....

Authentic Italian. A great restaurant that we’ve already visited multiple times. Every dish that we’ve tried has been fantastic, all of the staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Great choice of wine, lager and local IPA. Carlisi also has a great menu, for breakfast lunch or dinner. The menu has plenty of the classics that you’d expect in an Italian but also plenty of different options if you wanted to try something new. Many of the pastas can be ordered in small or large sizes, allowing you to share or to try more of the great food that they offer. They’re famous for their coffee and cannolis, and you can see why, but the rest of what Carlisi has to offer is equally as impressive.
