Cargo Restaurant, Bar and Deli in Liverpool

We visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday. Food was delicious, service was very attentive and the restaurant is lovely with amazing views. The weather was horrendous which probably impacted the restaurant being fairly quiet for a Saturday evening which is why we have 4 stars for atmosphere. Will definitely return and highly recommend. Beautiful fish dishes.

Excellent service, delicious food. Relaxed and comfortable dining. We had a starter, followed by the seafood platter which took us a while to finish but no pressure to move us on.

Had some fun with a faulty fire alarm, food was delicious,we had the seafood platter. Waited quite a while for it but all the waiters were a credit to the restaurant. The service was a little slow but luckily we weren't in any hurry. We had the cod croquettes to start with, which were delicious, but I would have preferred the sauce on the side of them, as if you don't like the sauce then it is already on them? Obviously taste is a personal thing, my partner loved the sauce and croquettes but I only liked the croquettes.

Starter, main and desert was amazing! Drinks were lovely and service was great. This is honestly one of the best restaurants in Liverpool.

Very good restaurant, with fresh seafood and great cocktails. Bear in mind there is a mandatory 10% service charge included, which is not my favourite thing in the world (i like to tip when and how much I choose) so I rated it 4/5 stars.

A chill atmosphere, incredible food and phenomenal service. We had the tiger prawns, sea bass and the special. Our waitress, Ellie, was fantastic and everything was perfectly delicious. We are from the US and loved this place!

One of the best fish and chips meals I’ve ever had. I travelled from Cyprus to Liverpool and I was craving fish and chips for my first day , many locals recommended me Cargo ( not only for fish and chips but in general for quality and fresh seafood and a variety of worldwide wines) The butter was nice and crisp and had a nice flavor to it. Fish was Norwegian Cod , nice and white, soft, and melt in your mouth. The fries were also really good, not too oily and the potato tasted great I loved the curry and tartare sauce as a side. Overall, a must visit in Liverpool.

Starters were very competent. Monkfish main was excellent, beautifully cooked and the thick emulsion like sauce was great. Had a dessert too - pistachio tiramisu that was first class, wish I hadn’t shared it now. Fair prices for the quality.

Lovely atmosphere and the service given was amazing

My husband and I spent a wonderful time here in a stunning sunset. We walked along the Mersey river from Albert Dock, 30min walk, arrived at 17:30, week day, not crowded. Staff were friendly. Risotto was nice to my Asian stomach, and fish’n chips was the best I’ve tried in UK. We are travelers, but having a meal here was our very lucky choice and a precious memory from the trip.

Very good place, I recommend it. Good seafood, pity the choice is not very big. Pleasant service. I highly recommend trying the raw oysters, some of the tastiest I've had. The rest of the dishes are quite good

We had a wonderful meal at Cargo, the food was delicious and the attention to detail was second to none. The chef came out to see if all was well which was a lovely touch! Catered for my Coeliac(gluten free) needs perfectly. Would highly recommend, definitely one of the best restaurants in Liverpool, a true gem.

Fantastic place, the food was unbelievably tasty & fresh, set on the dock with the right weather a lovely setting! The homemade Baklava cheesecake was very tasty! Will definitely be back again when we’re next in Liverpool, if you love seafood definitely not to be missed!

It's delicious. Let's go eat and feel lost. Oh, the owner is Thai. But the taste of the food is British style, every dish is good, really recommended. The must-eat food is mussel, which is secretly spicy.

I love my seafood, and their sharing seafood platter is one of the best I've tasted, with just the right portions for 2. The fish & mussels were cooked to perfection and the flavours added were unique and simply delicious. A great find for our day out.

We had an absolutely incredible dining experience at Cargo Liverpool! The scallops were simply spectacular, and both the risotto and pasta were cooked to perfection. The service was exceptional—every staff member went out of their way to ensure we were well taken care of. The ambiance, with its beautiful views of the River Mersey, added to the charm of our meal. We enjoyed every moment and can't recommend this place enough for anyone looking for high-quality seafood and a welcoming atmosphere!

Cargo Seafood is located right on the docks, with a fantastic view. It's really hard to get further ahead - unless you're on the ferry to the Isle of Man. It is part of a hotel, which you immediately notice when you see the lobby and the area around it. Nevertheless, the restaurant in the back area with its large glass facade offers a great view of the bay, where you can enjoy the sunset. The ambience is chic, but not overly elegant, which is also due to the character of the hotel. Unfortunately, the exterior of the high-rise building isn't particularly atmospheric, which is its only major weak point. We were immediately given a nice table and served by extremely friendly staff. The advice was always friendly and courteous, but I would have liked the team to approach us a little more proactively and give us more proactive advice, especially when it came to choosing wine. You could feel that they were open to every request and supported us with every detail, whether it was the WiFi password or an additional plate. The food was very good, and that has to be emphasized. The fish in particular was perfect - juicy, not dry at all, and well seasoned. Unfortunately, the plates arrived cold, which caused the sauces and side dishes to cool down too quickly. It wasn't a serious flaw, but with this high quality it shouldn't happen. Also a small detail that I can't stand to death: shrimp with heads and tails. They are purely for aesthetics and are difficult to eat, which lessened the enjoyment a bit. Overall, Cargo Seafood offers a solid 4-star experience. The ambience could be a little more comfortable and there is still room for improvement in terms of advice and details when serving. But the restaurant is definitely worth a visit, especially because of the location and the quality of the food.

Fantastic food, service and location. Its tucked out of the way of the City Centre on the waterfront near the new Isle of Man ferry terminal, with views across the Mersey to the Wirral. We had the Monkfish and Halibut and both were excellent.

Cargo restaurant in Liverpool is a must. We enjoyed the seafood and appetizers. Our chef, Constantino, was very welcoming and kind. The food is delicious! We had dinner there twice. Great staff too. Delicious food at Cargo restaurant. Very friendly and professional staff. Chef Constantino took great care of us! (The cod croquettes with chorizo ​​are delicious!!!)

I had looked for good seafood restaurants in Liverpool for some time. On the occasion of my 70th birthday we decided to try Cargo. The restaurant is in a stunning location with views across the harbour. The decor is pleasant, simple and nautical. I ordered the garlic tiger prawns as a starter. They were beautifully presented with heads on, but deveined with most of the shell removed. They were tasty, if slightly overcooked and underseasoned. My whole lobster was similarly overcooked to the extent that I suspected it had been frozen though our waitress assured me that the lobsters arrive alive. Unlike the prawns it was disappointingly not tasty. It deserved lashings of garlic and herb butter.

Best meal we've had in a long while. Fish delicious and cooked to perfection. Fantastic chef, fantastic staff and fantastic location with a nice ambiance. Will be definitely visiting again 👌😋

My mum and I visited Cargo on our last night in Liverpool as I had read about it online. It's a bit out of the way which was really nice for us as tourists. The restaurant is gorgeous and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! I had scallops to start followed by seafood pasta; my mum had the seafood cocktail followed by seafood risotto. We also shared the "nibbles" bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. My starter came quite late but the staff apologised and took it off our final bill (and also gave us extra prawns!). This didn't impact a truly lovely and delicious meal. It was amazing!!

Absolutely brilliant food! We had the mussels and they had mentioned they were running out so gave me three big prawns as well as mussels to make up for it. Personally the portion was more than enough but the prawns were so delicious I was more than happy to have them as well. I think they should offer mussels and prawns as a dish it was so good. I then had surf and turf and my partner had the turbot fish special. Everything we had was delicious, fresh and perfectly cooked. Cannot fault it and looking forward to coming back.

Family special birthday dinner , first time to the restaurant as we were on a weekend break. But would certainly go back as food was excellent and service matched.

We were recommend this restaurant by Leah, our receptionist at the Crown Plaza Hotel as we were looking for somewhere special to celebrate our anniversary. Arrived a bit earlier than booking but was shown right away to our table. The food was exceptional, steak just melted in your mouth and the lobster was delicious. What a fabulous meal cooked to perfection,. Would thoroughly recommend trying this place as I'm sure you would not be disappointed. Our bill included drinks and a dessert to share.

Decor was a bit dated , we stuck to the appetizers and they were ok, nothing spectacular ( calamari, bread and oil, fish and chorizo balls) . We were going to go all in with the lobster and steak but I don’t have the confidence that they could pull it off . Great for a quick lunch but I would not go for a full course dinner .

We came here for our final dinner on holiday and it was incredible. 4 of us went and we said it was the best meal we’ve had in a very long time. So fresh, so light and tasted amazing. We even asked for the recipe!!

This is a seafood restaurant and what you want from a seafood restaurant is amazing seafood. There can be no doubt that on that score Cargo delivers. We ordered the seafood platter for two and it was superb. Everything was cooked to perfection (and fish is the foodie dish). The scallops (but sadly you only get one each) were huge and magnificent. Two monster prawns each and the sea-bass fillets were wonderful. Then there are the breaded calamari and prawns. The only downside of all this munificence is that you won’t be able to eat everything hot. In the time it takes to eat it, some of it will be cold. Some tea lights to keep it all hot would be a good idea. So what is less good then? Well, this is a restaurant that could go from good to excellent with a little thought and imagination. For example, the platter is advertised as being accompanied by cherry tomatoes and asparagus. There were 2 cherry tomatoes each and about one asparagus spear cut into 4 small sections. A bit light on the veg, then. You also get thick cut chips which are very thick cut and a couple of sauces - one not dissimilar to hoisin - that seemed almost superfluous. The lemon butter sauce the seafood came with and the quality of the fish mean that you won’t need to dip it in anything. The wine list really needs looking at. Our helpful waitress allowed us to taste the white Rioja before we bought the whole bottle and just as well. It was grim - acidic and not pleasant. Unfortunately the pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc weren’t much better but what can you do? What you could do is organise some sort of tasting and only add great bottles to your wine list. There wasn’t a vast amount of choice. Our small starter was olives and bread. Here again, you could do much better. The olives were all the same ( you could have 3 or 4 different types), the bread was all the same too (ditto) and had been lightly toasted for some reason. The olives were in one sort of olive oil. I’ve been in restaurants where they give you 3 sorts in little pots to try. Other than that, the decor s forgettable - canteen-like tables, no candles, no flowers, no real ambiance. The service was very friendly and efficient. So the overall impression was of very good food well cooked but all the extras that make a memorable restaurant experience were somewhat lacking. This could so easily be astonishing - just add imagination and some wine expertise.

There were 3 of us, we had OYSTERS, MUSSELS AND SCALLOPS, for starters between the 3 of us really fresh, l won't bore you what we had for our main, only to say that we were very pleased with the FOOD AND THE SERVICE, Staff very friendly and especially our main server from across the IRISH SEA, Well done young man, will certainly visit again, and would highly recommend it, THANK YOU

This was an absolutely brilliant find at the end of Princes Quay, the opposite end to the Albert Docks - worth the short walk along the water! The food was the best we had whilst in Liverpool for 4 days. The seafood risotto was perfect, my friends fish was the same. Great advice about wine, White Rioja. The restaurant was fresh, clean, modern and airy, with great views, and although the owner was on his own (due to staff off last minute) with a full restaurant, he had time to chat with us, was unhurried, and the kitchen staff all looked smiley and busy. Great chilled atmosphere, and really modern light interior. Reasonably priced, in fact a lot less than we paid for a very disappointing seafood pasta meal at much more fancy Italian in the city centre. Such a lovely evening, and we wish we had gone sooner. £80 for bottle of wine, two seafood meals, service and I think a shared nibble starter. Definitely high recommend Cargo.

Last minute call made to the restaurant the day before on the off chance they could fit us in (a party of 20!). Straight away they told me they could sort something and rearrange tables/ serve food later. From that point on they did nothing but go above and beyond. The service was amazing, staff were so friendly and the food was delicious. They couldn’t have done any more to make us feel welcome and even helped to provide a taxi right from the door. Would highly recommend to anyone who is near, menu accommodates non-seafood eaters too and is very reasonably priced. Wish we lived closer!

Cargo, with its view across the river, is my new favourite seafood restaurant. The seafood is fresh every morning, the portions are generous and delicious. Great service, a very warm welcome and plenty to choose from on the menu, I chose fresh oysters to start which were probably the best I’ve had. I think this top quality restaurant is seafood heaven.

Excellent choice for seafood, at a quiet location on Princes Dock. Nice ambiance. Small parking area. There was a significant wait for our starters to arrive, and the Calamari and the Creamy Garlic Mushrooms were slightly disappointing. However, our two mains were outstanding: the Seabass Fillets and the Monkfish fillets with 3 Tiger Prawns. The kids' tomato pasta was also tasty. We will definitely be returning!

Absolutely amazing seafood! The best seafood I’ve had in the UK. Calamari was very tasty and authentic. Lobster was cooked to excellence! Steak was tender, soft and delicious! Service was quick and staff were friendly, plus they have a free car park. Thank you for making my graduation meal wonderful.

The shop was very nice and is located right in the harbor next to Princess Lading Stage. You can park directly in front of the restaurant without any problems. The food was absolutely fantastic. The portions are very large. You can hardly manage a starter and main course on your own. The service was very courteous and nice. At the end the boss served us a pistachio dessert on the house. It was fantastic. Highly Recommended!

One of the best restaurants in the U.K. Highly recommend to give it a try if you’re around Liverpool. Everything on point from appetiser to dessert. Favourite dishes are Scallops and the Monkfish. Friendly staff. Dining around sunset time will be a bonus to appreciate this lovely restaurant☺️

We were staying round the corner and booked for convenience but were so glad we did. The food was lovely (mussels and scallops starters, seafood risotto and seafood curry mains) if a wee bit on the subtle side. Staff were excellent, friendly and efficient. Recommended if you’re in that area.

Went for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon so not much of an atmosphere but expect it will be much better at busier times. The food was amazing, had the oyster gratin which was so tasty and then shared the seafood platter. The platter was excellent, each component well cooked and presented, the monkfish was perfect. Would definitely recommend a visit if you like good seafood.

Mussels were disappointing, possibly cooked from frozen, certainly didn't taste fresh. The calamari was very good. Service staff were great. They were very accommodating for both gluten and lactose intolerance.

This place is truly a hidden gem!! The food was perfectly cooked and super fresh, we ordered the seafood platter for two for lunch and it was an absolute divine! Highly recommended. I think the service was a bit slow at the beginning maybe they were understaffed but really, the staff were super nice and friendly. There was a construction site blocking the sea view outside, but nevertheless our experience was 10/10!! Definitely going again!

Hidden gem on the Princes Dock. Beautiful seafood. Great service. The staff are all very friendly. Starter of Cod and Chorizo Croquets shared between two. The seafood curry and seafood risotto for our mains. Everything was delicious.

Best Meal we had in Liverpool. Perfectly cooked fish, friendly and attentive staff and a beautiful location. Highly recommend. It's worth a short walk away from the more touristy areas of the dock to get to it. We had the Seafood Platter for 2 and the chorizo croquettes. Both were hot, fresh, and cooked to perfection.

The place is pleasant and aesthetically pleasing. The service is notable, as the waitstaff are very friendly and attentive to the diners. However, the wait for the food is considerably long, possibly due to the preparation process, though this does not fully justify the delay. Regarding the taste, it did not meet my expectations; considering the price, I expected a higher quality.

The group I was with enjoyed their meals greatly but I was a little disappointed with the Risotto which was a bit stodgy. Unfortunately though there were no dairy free dessert options and no dairy free milk so 2 of us couldn't have dessert or even a coffee to finish. Very disappointing as they said they could cater for us. Waiting staff were very pleasant and welcoming.

Though a little far from the city centre the food makes up for the distance. Fresh seafood with excellent service who goes out of their way to make your day. I made a fool of myself by dropping my chips on the floor. Not only did the service person clear it up in a moment, they also replaced them!

We went here specifically for fish and chips, and weren’t disappointed. Started off with cod chorizo croquettes, they were very tasty. The fish was in a very light crisp batter, nothing soggy about it. The chips were properly hand cut. The whole meal was fresh, piping hot and very tasty. Good service from our waiter too, attentive without being over the top. A 25min walk from the Pullman Hotel and well worth it. Definitely recommend. A really good menu.

Quite honestly I’m stuck for words. Can’t explain how good the food was…and the staff are just as incredible! Absolutely deserves every 5 star review and some. Will, without a doubt, be coming back. Thank you so much for having us 🤍

Restaurant clean and tidy. Nice sea coloured theme and decor. Tasteful not gaudy. Amazing smell as you walk in. I was freezing and asked if I could wait for a taxi inside. I bought a drink and I was made to feel very welcome by someone who I later learned was the son of the owner. All staff appeared friendly except for one person watching me like a hawk and who also dared to suggest I hadn't paid for my drink as I was leaving. 🙄 There's always one and it's a shame as otherwise it was a nice experience. Beautiful views and a separate dining area for parties. I'm considering it as a venue for my 40th birthday. I hope that snooty guy isnt there though 😏 Other than that I would highly recommend it. 👌🏾👌🏾

Very good seafood, I only wish the lobsters were bigger but they were delicious.

Went there twice for the special prawns with olive oil. Very good. 4 prawns each portion. Somehow both the times there’s a bad/not fresh prawns.

We came today to celebrate Mother's day and it was fantastic! The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was really accommodating and nice - Paul, Peter and Ellie were amazing service :) Thank you all very much!
