Amazing bakery, The char Sui bao were so fresh wonderful. All freshly baked by the owner who was really nice. We also had a few other baked goods which were amazing. Can’t wait to visit again next time we come to Liverpool.

Small bakery shop with great taste. No queue time. Self-service to pick up whatever we liked and then pay at the counter. We followed the recommendation from the staff there. First we go for charsiew bao (BBQ pork bun). £2 per piece. The BBQ pork filling was outstanding. We loved in from our first bite. It was juicy and not too dry. Appropriate fat portion and the fat portion were wonderfully made. It was not too oily. Just nice. 5 stars Salted kuih (salted cake) was delicious as well. It reminded me of malaysia small town called kampar that sells this traditional delicacy. Salute to this cake shop to have this kind of traditional taste. 4 stars

Can’t post any pictures, we ate them before i could take my camera out! They were fresh and delicious! 😋😛loved them! We had 2 types of pork ones, a coconut one and a red bean one! All of them were amazing!

The best bakery place ever. I’ve order cakes from many places and this one is by far the best. Customer service was perfect so patient with me even tho i changed the cake decor twice. I promise you will not regret coming to this bakery. 100% worth it and fresh.

Great pastries and buns. Best Chinese bakery in the north. Ordered a cake from you too and was very large for the price. Fruit was fresh and design was beautiful. Sponge was not as fluffy and sweet as I hoped though, but I would still buy again.

Dear owner (cake chef), We know you since u open your shop always you are a bit rude but we thought it's because of conversation now it's really not acceptable. We never accuse for mistakes on cake and never written any review this time it was very extremely unacceptable pcustomer service.Your behave was like only cake maker in the liverpool. It's a local community please don't behave rude other wise it's your loss. We never order from different places than you always our occasion cakes from yout.you never bargain whatever price you said we always agreed even you know us still take deposit we also okay most of the time we come from long way, you did not able to provide cake in good time we never made that as issue. This time it was very heart breaking after you chat with me 30 minutes explained extra charge I was agreed to pay after that u r telling u can't take order because I wasn't happy last time . The char siu buns with the crusted top are devine. Soft and fluffy with plenty of filling. The custard buns with the crusted top was destroyed in seconds. Deep fried dumpling is delicious too

It’s hard to find Chinese style bakery here and that’s why always end up buying a lot of buns whenever we make a trip there. Love all the traditional buns and pastries. Ordered a pandan cake for my daughter’s birthday the other day and it was fabulous!

LOVE this place! Everything I’ve tried has been gorgeous! Communication via instagram is brilliant, I’ve ordered cakes from them before and they have been amazing! Can’t wait to receive my next order this month! If you’re passing by, pop in and get something! You won’t regret it!

Cakes are in not good condition fruits mostly old and food colour is not good either. Cakes are very dirty made.

Worst customer service ever Pastry are very old most of the fruits on cake are getting bad but price did not change even after notice and report to the owner.

I usually get cakes from here for my birthday or whenever I’m visiting family in Liverpool. I can say this cake is amazing especially the cream. It’s the highlight of my birthdays. Other parts of the bakery are also amazing honestly I have no bad words to say.

Best bakery in Liverpool hands down! We have ordered three specially-made cakes on separate occasions for family birthdays and the cake itself is so light and delicious it's hard to stop eating it. It receives compliments from everyone who has a slice, and we haven't found cake like it anywhere else. They always give a disclaimer that reference pictures and the actual cake may differ in appearance but we have always been extremely satisfied. You can also get cakes in cute shapes like hearts. The hot char sui buns are the BonBon staple and we always nip in for some whenever we go into town. The bread is like the cake, so fluffy and light but one bun is enough for lunch and they have buns with a good selection of fillings. The staff are always polite and helpful and given the quality and taste everything is modestly priced. An absolute gem everyone must try after getting off the train at City Centre and taking the five minute- if that- walk.

We always buy our cakes from here. They are nice and light inside and taste delicious. We would highy recommend.

Bon Bon Bakery is pretty nice, but their selection is a bit on the smaller side. I grabbed one of their sponge cakes, and it was really yummy but a bit expensive for £3! Kinda like the Pandan cake I had in London but for £2. Also just a quick heads up, they're all about cash or bank transfers, and no cards are accepted. It's in a handy spot, and it's a cozy little bakery that can whip up customised cakes too. Staff was helpful & quick. :)

What a fantastic Chinese Bakery. Excellent char siu pork buns that had loads and loads of filling, I loved the one with the pineapple top. Pork croquettes and egg tarts were the other stand out dishes. Can't wait to visit again

Completely amazing! Bought multiple items to try - matcha cake, sesame red bean bun, char sui bun, milk bread bun - and everything was delicious. If you're a cake lover, definitely try the matcha cake. It is the softest, lightest sponge I've ever had. The staff were also lovely! Be aware, they don't do card payments but they do have details on the counter so you can bank transfer from your phone really easily!

An absolute gem. I have tried almost everything at Bonbon Bakery, and I always come back for more. Their cakes are sensational, so light and fluffy yet creamy too. Like eating a sugar cloud. Their pandan roll, pork buns and lotus flavoured treats are must try's. I adore this place.

Nostalgic Chinese/ Hong Kong style bakery, 5 stars for childhood memories being triggered 🇭🇰🩷 Prices are fair and there are lots of different buns and desserts to choose from Owners were friendly and welcoming as well❤️

Staff were so lovely and helpful, excellent prices and delicious food!! Lovely for just a quick snack or (in our case) pudding. Good mixture of sweet and savoury items, so there’s lots to choose from whatever your tastes are. Will defo be going back there again whenever I visit Liverpool and am in need of another sausage bun! Had been here during my visit to Liverpool. It is a small place run by a sweet Asian lady. Took a variety of buns and oh my god each had a distinct flavour and taste to it. The buns were super soft and super tasty. We finished all up in one single sitting. I wish this place were near my home. It is a must visit if you are in Liverpool, trust me the buns are worth every bit of penny you spend. The only down side is you feel like having more buns after you are finished eating. Give it a try

We stumbled across this bakery one lunchtime and have been coming back ever since! I love the selection of food, and I always like to try something new. The pork floss bun is a favourite and the egg custard tarts are delicious.

Wow… what is all the hype regarding this bakery… totally awful……your not really made to feel welcome at all…any questions regarding any of the items on show is met with I don’t know answers.. questions about ingredients and again I don’t know answers… unbelievable.!!!! Bought two cakes as I didn’t want to be rude my own curiosity was to try there food….what a huge disappointment … no taste very bland just light hollow sponge with a thin slither of cream …awful…!! no texture and no weight in the cakes a strawberry was plonked on top to make it look fancy…cheap and nasty…!!! Had half of each and threw the rest out for the pidgeons in the garden… woke up this morning and they are still there… say no more….👎🏼

Best Chinese Bakery in the city! A Liverpool Hallmark. Cheap, cheerful and so very good. Perfect for a sweet tooth and also a quick (cheap) lunchtime pick up. Probably perfect for easy on the go food for families as well, when out shopping or doing things in town. Pork chop and char Sui barms are so Good! They Cantonese egg tarts and sponge cakes are must buys!

Best chinese bakery in Liverpool. We always come here to buy some fresh chinese pasteries. They have cakes, pudding, egg tarts and different kind of pastries. Staff are very nice. Only downside is you need to pay by cash but price is reasonable.

Love this little gem of a place...my 17 year old son wont go anyone else...the cakes are so fluffy n light and the sweet meat buns are a delight...staff are amazeing so happy to help...the young girl is a beautiful person always ready for a chat...

We bought five cakes that were all very nice. Smooth, soft and delicious and very cheap. We didn't try any of their savory lunch things but they all looked delicious as well.

Char sui bun (none sweet) savour treat of choice. Coconut cream cake sweet treat but those who want not too sweet the coconut buns (more like custard in texture) also devoured by our group.

Pandan cake from here is unreal, ordered a birthday cake for 10 people and was ready to pick up the same day within 4 hours. 5* will order from here again.

Haven’t been to one of these bakeries in ages, and I was pleasantly surprised! Even though it was near closing time, the pastries were fluffy and soft. The prices are reasonable too, so I would definitely drop by there again!

One of the best baos especially boluobao (pineapple bun) found oversea China. I was very impressed the texture and quality of the bakery. It’s cash only or bank transfer, no credit card accepted which caused a bit of trouble for payment. The lady simply had me to bring the bakery home and make the payment once I have my debit card details. I appreciated the level of trust a stronger and business owner would give to its customers.

Not just sweet stuuff, they do savoury too. I ate a very nice char sui bao yesterday, it tasted authentic and generally very nice. Exactly what I hoped for.

Bon Bon bakery is the best in Liverpool Chinatown. I order their cakes for all birthday gatherings and it is always a treat. Their other goodies on offer are excellent too. I particularly like their crispy pork 'ham sui gok', peanutty mochi, custard tarts and roasted char sui buns. Pretty much the whole of their bakery is delicious! I recommend you trying this place, you will not be disappointed. It reminds me of my visits to Hong Kong bakeries. Thanks Bon Bon for all your hard work!

Lovely asian bakery, even has the sweet smell from asia.

We stopped in our tracks when passing this small shop in Chinatown and had to have a look! We then had to try! The buns reminded us (probably wrongfully!) of cake we had in Japan...the sweet bun and custard bun were delicious! We went back the next day for more (although the window was much emptier the next day). Well worth a try if you have a sweet tooth and want something a little different. Do make sure to have cash as they don't take cards.

Place busy and loud. Staff little rude while service me, started serving someone behind for there order and shouting at the back for their order before my items packed and done when my other order was at the back. Like concept over selecting buns on trays. Buns and cakes nice

This is a regular tradition for my and my family, they have the BEST birthday cakes and Char Siu buns in Liverpool, easily. Cake icing is whipped cream, which is complemented by a sponge that is extremely light. You are missing out if you do not try this place!

Have had many cakes in the past and this has to be the worse one yet! Considering this is the only Chinese bakery in Liverpool, I kinda wish they would make better cakes. Thinnest layer of cake sandwiched with the thickest layers of cream. A mouthful of cream in each and every bite had me feeling sick and uneasy. Compared to the smaller cakes I had months ago (as seen on second picture) it was wayyy better. Very disappointed. I hope to see some improvements after this comment or else, I don't think I would ever return, ever.

Literally every single week when I go to town for college I buy a lot of pastries and cakes etc etc from this shop, it’s super fresh and tasty, it’s not overly sweet or over priced at all so I recommend it ALOT! Give it a try and if you didn’t like it I’ll give your money back from my own pocket! How’s that?

We live in Ainsdale and not far on the train, each time we come in to liverpool this is the first place we head for lunch and eat on the step of the church opposite. Amazing food love the buns and snacks cannot get enough

Absolutely delicious little bakery around the middle of the city. The woman who was working there was very welcoming and helped with suggestions. I’d recommend the coffee cake and their baked custard buns!

Hidden gem! Came here today and picked up a few snacks from here to try as I'd noticed they were being sold in one of the wholesalers the other side of town and from what I had tasted there they were very nice. I was not disappointed today! The fluffy sponge cakes are absolutely heavenly!! Tried a rice bun with a lotus filling (I think?), little unusual as it is not something I have ever had before but was pleasant to try. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area as the food is lovely and the staff are very polite and friendly. I am not sure of any other places in Liverpool where there is a bakery like this and this place is only a 10/15 minute walk (if that) from Queen square and the walk is pleasant enough on a sunny day so definitely drop by here if you're looking for a tasty treat. I was eyeing up the slices of cake in here too, wish I'd have bought a slice as they looked lovely!! Would have taken pictures of the food I bought but sharing it with the family and it was gone so quick I didn't get chance 😂👍

Ordered a cake for 1pm and on arrival it wasn't ready for pick up. Had to sit and wait for it to be done. This has happened multiple times now and it's so disappointing.

First time I visited this place was 8 years ago and there hasn't been a time where I go past it and I don't go in to get a sausage roll! 😂 They've got these very soft and slightly sweet buns with a hot dog sausage in the middle and they're just devine! Also love the coconut & cream buns and custard buns, everything I tried is absolutely brilliant and I would highly recommend!

I have been wanting to try their cakes for a while as they look pretty impressive. The sponge part was amazing, soft and light, full of flavour I loved it. The fruits were tasty and lasted well a couple of days. I will be returning

Love this place, visited on a damp Chinese new year (Sunday) to watch the dragon dance parage and had to grab some amazing buns. Great selection of sweet and savoury buns including my favourite red bean paste buns.

Visited Liverpool and stumbled upon this GEM of a bakery - what a find; superb authentic taste. Certainly a match to any London Chinatown bakery, will definitely be visiting again. Bought some buns for my 90 year old mother and she compared Bonbon's buns from her Hong Kong childhood. Give Bonbon Bakery a try, believe me, you will not be disappointed. Will definitely be visiting again.

Such an awful experience. Very bad customer service. Whoever sitting in the bakery to pickup the phonecalls of the customers has to show some respect to the customers. Hope they will change that in future.

So much better than any Chinese bakery I've tried in London - just reminiscing is making me salivate! A great selection of traditional Chinese treats, including a few that I haven't seen in London before. There was a cookie filled with lotus paste with a kind of egg-roll crackle on top? I don't remember the name but it was my favourite! HIGHLY RECOMMEND and will come back to buy tons more when I'm back in Liverpool!

Tastiest cake ever! So fluffy and light yet delicious which is perfect as im not a big cake eater to begin with. The sweetness of everything is spot on and amazing attention to detail on the decorating side. Highly recommend!

The mango and chocolate cake made me do a double take as I caught sight of it from the corner of my eye whilst walking past the shop. It was just my luck that I was looking for a cake for my sister for her birthday. Bought both cakes and my mind was blown. Amazing cakes!! Both fluffy and airy, creamy and flavourful. It wasn’t too sweet (glad!) and i enjoyed it so much that I had to come back to try the pastries. These were amazing as well! Every time there’s a birthday, these cakes are what I always always buy.

Saw many people going in and out the bakery and decided to give it a try. Scummy pastries which are even better than the ones I got from a famous bakery in London’s China Town. I was very impressed and happy with all the ones I got. The egg tarts are yummy and not too sweet. 😁
