Cardamom in Mendip

Four of us visited for the first time and we were very impressed. We were welcomed and shown to our table very courteously and first impressions were positive. Very smart appearance, clean and well maintained. Our drinks order was brought to the table quickly and our food followed after we had finished our poppadoms served with delicious dips and relishes. Our main meals were excellent with good sized portions. All the staff were friendly and helpful. So pleased we chose Cardamom Sandown and will definately be returning. Highly recommended.

This place had great food, good service, friendly staff. Good portions and they even made something especially for one of us who wanted something really spicy. It was a nice meal altogether!

Amazing food , attractive decor and smart professional attentive service. A great .venue with all the favorites and a good few interesting different dishes It's always a good sign when an Indian restaurants attracts a fare amount t of Indian customers (my wife included) also I heard at least two two tables say thank you, see you tomorrow. I had my favorite starter of king prawn puri which was great followed by a speciality chicken dish with crushed chilli and coconut sauce. I always feel I can judge an Indian restaurant by their nan bread and this was perfect. Also the potato.s came with the best pickle tray I've had. We came here on Monday and we are just about to go back tonight, 3 days later.

What a little gem of a place, buffet at £10 per head, so much food we couldn't eat it all. Amazing food and staff, very welcoming and cater for all your needs. Freshly cooked food.

Excellent meal! Friendly staff. We ordered the 4 person set menu tonight to take away, food was hot and very tasty great variety of curries also included starters, rice, poppadoms and naans. Efficient service and the waiters very friendly. Fresh hot food at a reasonable price. The restaurant itself is clean, modern and it has a calm ambience. I cannot recommend it enough for a pleasant evening meal.

We were greeted by a member of staff whilst looking at the menu outside and felt a little harassed into coming in but we’re glad we did. The service was excellent. We started with popadoms and pickles. The pickles were a little different to standard ones but tasted very fresh and were absolutely delicious. The mains were also very good and generous portions. Would’ve got 5 stars if we hadn’t felt so pressured!

Had the most enjoyable evening at Cardimum tonight,the food was excellent from the starters and the main dishes,served on warm plates with the food staying hot till the end.The service was impeccable with Anis being the shining star. We were recommended to this restaurant and will now pass on our recommendations to others.

Having had 2 disappointing meals at our usual Indian restaurant we decided to try elsewhere and gave Cardamon a go. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated and very clean. Service could not be faulted. The meals, one a Balti and one a Jalfrezi were perfectly spiced and very tasty. We will definitely be going back.

Our first time at Cardamom, a birthday meal for me and my wife whilst holidaying on the Isle of Wight. The staff were friendly and cheerful. The food was excellent, the chutney tray with the popadoms was the best we have tasted in all the years of eating in Indian restaurants. Our main courses were very tasty the flavours of the Cardamom Special were excellent. If you are ever in Sandown, IOW pay a visit to Cardamom you won't be disappointed.

Came here last minute as the restaurant we planned to go to was closed and we were not disappointed. We had a lovely meal here.

I've ordered from here before but unfortunately this time, my takeaway was not up to scratch. The mixed meat biryani had gristle in the meat and tasted very salty. Disappointing

So, our first time at Cardamon and hopefully will NOT be our last. Staff were very caring and knowledgeable. We both had the king prawn on purée and was outstanding. For our main course we both had Cardamon special, which was a meatball (mince), chicken, lamb and king prawn in a medium spiced and full of flavour source with tomatoes and onions. I had mushroom rice and my wife had straight rice. Also one of the best garlic and cheese naan’s I have ever had My compliments to the chef (s) and the staff. A warm and welcoming restaurant with nice decor.

Quite possibly the worst "Bangladeshi" meal i have ever experienced. Dry, tasteless. A let down from start to finish. I would suggest if you are advertising the fact you serve authentic Indian cuisine you actually get an Indian in to cook for you. Continue as such and you will close down as did the same "Indian" restaurant on the same site in recent years. You can change the name, you can change the decor. Failure to change the owner or the "Cooks" is going to lead you down the same path. Hang your heads in shame with this one guys. Utter YUK

Ordered a takeaway for 9 people but reminded them that my previous visit for a large order was less than satisfactory due to the order being more than 40 minutes late. They couldn't have been more helpful and promised that my order would be ready in 40 minutes, no longer. They called me back about 25 minutes later to say it was ready. Polite staff took my payment and opened the door for me on my way out. The food, as always, was excellent. We had a great meal and partied into the night.

This is one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. The decor was tasteful. The food was superb. The service was excellent. I cannot fault it.

Ordered for the first time since this establishment changed hands. Really happy with all the food ordered, great meat dishes and a really good potato dish. Everything was cooked to perfection and the side dishes were amazing. Definitely recommend for Indian cuisine fans. Thank you.

Order took an hour and 20 minutes to get here, 40 minutes later than the time it was supposed to arrive - delivery guy said our buzzer wasn't working however a phone number to call us was provided. Delivery driver in bad mood coz standing in the rain, why didn't he stay in the car & call my cell phone once he got onto my street, thats what every other food delivery driver does, wait until i answer the door, then bring my food. The vindaloo more like a regular balti, no hotness/chilli power. Tikka main, the lamb meat was chewy/tough, needs to be cooked slowly for longer to make it nice. I think coz the restaurant was in a bad mood, thats why my food was not great like my previous order.
