Captain Kooks is a diner which offers exceptional fish and chips, alongside their varied menu of other dishes. We call whenever we are in the area and have never been disappointed. The staff are all very pleasant and efficient. Its so popular that you might have to wait for a table.

No pretentious stuff here just solid meals with good portions and efficient service.I had the full breakfast (at 12.30!) which filled me up.

The food is great, the staff are friendly and the seating area is kept nice and clean. I took a group of people here late one evening after a long walk. We all had fish 'n' chips and we were all very impressed. The fish is amongst the nicest that I've had and one portion of chips was enough for two people!

Quiet, just a few people at 6.30pm. Clean environment, clean table. Friendly and helpful waitress. Didn’t have to wait long. Lovely food, we sat in. Plenty of food. Highly recommend it. Thank you

Fish and chips lovely. Don't normally go for the fish and chips we normally get the all day breakfast. Unfortunately the waitress was very condescending, I asked if they did brown bread she said in a very loud voice brown bread no as of I was asking for something unheard of. Then when I asked what a round consisted of she did the same thing. One of those people who liked an audience while humiliating customers. Won't be going back I think she could use a few lessons on manners or customer service. Shame the food was good !)

Three different trips, from three different people and they have all said how awful the food is. Yesterday, we ordered chips and they were undercooked! Disgusting!

Served by a pleasant waitress, food arrived hot and fresh. Had my fair share of bad experiences in chippies and was dragged into here under pain of death by my partner and it totally blew me away, this place really knows how to feed people and knows what the word fresh really means. Met a very pleasant owner who informed us he had been there for 28 years, well worth a visit and will definitely go again.

I come here often and dine in. Came on a Saturday evening for a change. The place is always clean and the staff are super friendly. The fish is amazing- thin crispy batter and its just so tasty along with fresh chips. Definitely not your run of the mill greasy spoon!

You may be able to get better fish and chips in the world but I doubt it. Excellent quality, great service and good prices.

We ordered online and collected within 30 minutes. Food was hot, tasty and value for money. Will definitely be ordering again.

Had a fish that was chewy and undercooked, this seems par for the course these days, their standards have slipped, plus they are seriously over priced now.

Andy and team doing a super job, popped in tonight for a take away for tea, despite all the extra precautions, social distancing the guys prepared an excellent meal at a very reasonable price. The guys continue to offer excellent customer service, very professional and despite the pandemic they continue to battle on with a smile. Bigs thanks to the team 😀

Delicious Food, Cheerful Friendly Waitresses, Inexpensive Meals. I totally and completely DISAGREE with nortonnorm's Comment, and the person who said "not cheerful", I've eaten there at least once every Week for 14 Years and have NEVER experienced what they've written.

Good control measures in place. As usual I had the captains breakfast, got to be the best value in the country, @£4.65. Set up for the day.

Has ample inside seating and the staff are really good.Food ranges from breakfasts to usual chip shop fayre. Also has kebabs and personally recommend the Spanish omelette.Various hot and cold drinks. Number of home made desserts including delicious cheesecake.

Called in for tea on a Saturday evening and ordered fish, chips, and curry sauce. Well the fish arrived and it was the biggest fish I have ever had, it must have been a foot long, and it was delicious, unfortunately I couldn't eat all of the meal, even though I have a healthy appetite. Would highly recommend, it's good honest food, not to expensive

I had the breakfast for price of £4,50 and the coffee was free with the meal. Unfortunately the car payment is minimum £5 but the service was quick,friendly, helpful and satisfied.

What a great place to eat. Superb service always with a smile. Quick with the food without affecting the quality. Car parking can be an issue but I suppose that’s a reflection of how popular it’s becoming. We always head here with our grandchildren and would highly recommend them you all.

Called in after a busy day of flat clearing. Did what it says on the tin in a lovely Stoke ie manner. Best fishcake, chips and curry sause with a buttered bap, not forgetting the tin of pop. Loved it from start to finish, will be back.

Called in for tea with the wife, I had liver and onion, and the wife had cottage pie, both came piping hot and both were a generous portion. Good service and good value, couldn't fault it

We've been going for years, its the best chippy for miles! Always fresh fish, fresh chips and well priced. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, especially considering this is a cafe not a posh restaurant!

We visited here yesterday for the first time after my husband said it’s always busy when he drives past. No welcome was received upon entering. We was not told to take a seat we take your orders etc if you have not been before how are we supposed to know this!? Our order was swiftly taken by a blonde polite lady, food arrived quickly by someone who just plonked it down dark hair in a pony tail, no enjoy or anything spoken from her she was very miserable! My husband really enjoyed his breakfast. I did enjoy my sausage and cheese toastie it was dry not buttered and tasteless! We was not sure of the protocol paying as we hadn’t been before so that was also annoying asking to find out. There was no manners and people looked miserable working there apart from the blonde lady on the till and the man making the chips. Someone send there jacket potato back whilst I was there as it was dry and tasteless too. All the miserable brown haired lady said was oh sorry shall I replace it either it happens a lot or she literally didn’t care. My husband would come back and I might try it again to see if it’s a one off as everyone has bad days and maybe a different meal might be better but I do not have high hopes. It was rammed though so they must do something right. Prices are reasonable. I’ll update if we go back and it’s any better.

Whether I have take away or eat in, the food and service is excellent, always served by the friendly team.

When we go shopping to morrisons almost every tuesday we go here the food is up to scratch plenty of choice not just chips and the staff are great especialy the owner he speaks to us every week we can highly reccomend it

This was a return visit...we needed a quick evening meal that we knew would be hot, filling and affordable.

This was once one of the best fish & chip take aways around, but I haven't been for a while and the quality has plummeted dramatically and the portion sizes are laughable, my father had a small fishing and chips served in the same size of small try that my standard pudding chips and graveyard came in and he had almost triple the amount of chips in his small poration than I got in my standard portion, and the quality now is not as good as it once was we went over 12 miles out of our way to eat here as it used to be worth it, but I'm not sure if I would I would even bother again in the future even if I was passing right by....

We have dined at Captain Kooks several times and have never been disappointed either dining in or taking away. The atmosphere is always good, the servers, waitresses and the cooks are very helpful and within reason whatever you request they will do their best to accomodate you. The facilities are always clean which in itself must prove a difficulty at times of heavy footfall but the manage superbly to maintain their high standards, I look forward to my next visit!!!

Myself and a work colleague visit here every Saturday. We ring and book a table, they have never let us down. Although this is fundamentally a chip shop they do healthy options baked potatoes, omlett, salad and Sunday lunch. We have had Christmas Dinner there which was lovely. The Team will really look after you.

A great place to go a tea when time is tight or you just want a change from making it yourself.

We both had the large breakfast for £4.20. 2 bacon,2sausages,egg,fried bread,beans and tomatoes,with 2toast and a mug of tea.served piping hot,very tasty.excellent value for the price

Absolutely the best fish and chip shop in Staffordshire. The fried fish are really delicious., The batter is so lovely and the chips are good too. We had a family get together (12 of us) and we opted for a fish and chip supper from Captain Kooks and everyone commented how delicious it was. The servce was brilliant too. A special mention to Chris and Andrew. We will definately be coming back for more. Thank you!

First time we have used and all I can say WOW, that was the best Cod in batter I have ever tasted, chips are good too, this is our new chippy tea place, sorry it has taken us so long to try, everyone needs to try x

Used this restaurant many times, a great English Menu restaurant incorporating a Fish n Chip shop, the menu is excellent with traditional meals Sunday Lunch style, simple snack options great choice of English Breakfasts, burgers and more, of course also being a Fish n Chip shop all the items you would expect in any other fish shop, as for the food itself, the portions are large and delicious, the staff are great too from the friendly manager to the efficient and friendly waitresses. It is not posh, it caters for the high volume of customers from the nearby factories but the sheer volume of customers through the door show that we are not the only ones who believe it to be excellent, they also offer a pre-ordered sandwich/takeaway meal service.

Been here multiple times and they have not got one order right the staff are either trying to piss you off or are just simpletons even with the simple orders they still struggle to get it right never known a food place like it they have ruined many of my breakfasts.

Came in for food after work and was not disappointed. Sat in to eat and the staff took an order from the table. Came in good time and the food was good quality and piping hot. Friendly staff and brilliant food.

Been going for years. Lightly battered haddock and chips is outstanding but bring a good appetite. Occasionally I've tried salad, cottage pie etc - also great value for money. Andy and staff welcoming and friendly. Worth going out of your way for.

There's plenty of choice and with prices to suit anyone's budget.We had the special omelette with is served with a option of different side orders of either chips, jacket potato or just side salad.It is filling and tasty.If you've room for a dessert, there is a reasonable choice of traditional puddings.It's a busy place and great everyday cafe.

Call in everyday after phoning in orders to collect. When entering to collect orders, we are left waiting. This has become annoying as we are in our brake-time. Obviously the staff are not doing there job correctly. This has resulted in 10 of our staff saying no-more custom from us. We provide good money not only for food, but we call to save us time?, so we can eat our food in our brake-times. So sorry your staff has now moved us on to else where. Poor service, no orders on time for collection, no custom.

Been here a few times over the years and it's never dissapointed. This is a takeaway and diner style place where you can grab a table and the waitress takes your order or you can walk out with it. Proper full English breakfast on offer here are worth a mention. Food alway hot and fresh and the chips are ' chippy chips'. There is a wide selection on the menu and something for everyone's palate. Wide selection of fizzy drinks, coffees and teas also available. The tea which I had came in a proper Mug! Spot-on! Prices are extremely reasonable, and possibly one of the cheapest in Stoke-on-Trent. Here you can rest assured that you will leave full, satisfied and with change in your purse. I will carry on eating here, and can't praise the place enough. A+++

I have been here quite a few times for breakfast only, it's home cooked good value for your money. Staff ok not over the top . If you are in Stoke wanting a breakfast in a down to earth environment try captain kooks .

I have been eating here for years and years every week and have never had cause to complain, in my opinion the best fish and chips you can buy, reasonable prices and friendly staff, would recommend to anyone , simply great fish and chips and more.

Even though this place isn't really round the corner, we always tend to go. Its worth the drive as the staff are always friendly, the chips are fresh and the fish mostly are done to order. Will always come back

You really cant fault the food here, everything is fresh and cooked well. The server didn't quite get what I wanted (a small battered sausage) out came a normal one. But will let that one go. Always a friendly hello and how are you from the guys that own and run it. Wont be the last time we are here

I use this outlet a lot, its a family owned restaurant/takeaway and have done both...eating in and taken home.A large varied menu with daily special's and a value menu (takeaway only with value menu) friendly staff and competitive Price's.

Went to captain Kooks on 23/3/16 had lovely late breakfast with daughter. Both had the all day breakfast. Fantastic big breakfast with tea and toast included. Friendly staff and very reasonable.

From the amount of people today at lunch time and the amount of big orders going through the door, you know they are doing something right. To be honest they are, this is our goto chippy, not local to us really, we drive to the other side of town for this one. Always great fresh hot food, normally fish done to order, friendly staff with a smile and a greeting keeps us coming back time and time again

Family run business, remembered us from previous visits and made u s feel so welcome and adjusted the menu to our requests,And the topping on the cake was very affordable prices, we will most definitely be back again. If your in a rush the take away has a vast variety to choose from.

Just left the Moorcroft visitors centre and was feeling rather hungry and poor and happened to drive past. The food was hot and grease free and my husband, who is known to be fussy would 100% enjoy a return trip.

Called in for a family breakfast as recommended by a work colleague ! Worst meal on the planet - greasy plates & chipped crockery - we did not finish our food - felt quite sick. Never again !

The menu is quite vast for a small cafe, everything from a jacket potato to pie and chips, all at a good price and worth a visit if you want something quick and cheap.
