20 chips you get in a regular chips for £3 🤣 What a waste of money However the food can be nice The man who cooks it is very good

Awful, this chippy has fell off big time, the foods bland and way too dry, needs someone in there with good customer service too, staff are miserable, I won’t return again, prices gone up massively and service gone down the drain, sort it out…

Staff were very nice and friendly . The nicest chips, sausage and beans I have had from any chip shop in a very long time.

We have used this chippy for years. The food was always amazing and the staff were so friendly and efficient. There was one young lad that was a bit slow but that’s the generation I suppose. Been today and noticed the usual large fish and chips with a sauce at £10:00 was now £11:50 with no sauce. The size of the ‘large’ fish was more like the old small. We opted for breadcrumb. The young lad was on duty and didn’t stem to have a clue. On returning him and opening them the chips were soggy, and I MEAN soggy, full of grease and the fish way over done and bitter, greasy and the chips had a slight smokey taste like the oil needed changing, This chip shop is MORE expensive than Mother Hubbards on Victoria Rd in Fenton. Needless to say we won’t be returning. Mother Hubbards is it

Paid for order server was slow did not acknowledge me apart from payment, took him 25 mins before doing sausage and chips even though food was available, another customer came in served immediately left with food within 5 mins I went up to counter asked about my child's food and replied I'm doing it now. Food has gone up in price I will not be returning and I told them so

I have been going in captain fry for a few years now and it was always good. It as now been taken over and the service is hopeless and chips and fritters are grease and not cooked properly will not use there again

Normally love this chippy used it for years been today think it’s under new management and the chips are nothing like they used to be they were hard some raw with no taste won’t be using anymore sorry …… 🥺

Hi, me and my husband have been going to this chippy for a while now. I went there on Friday and this morning , all I can say is that costumer service is the worst! Only one person was serving while the shop was full. I had to wait for more than 20 minutes for a portion of chips.

By far the worst chippy i've been in a long time, chips were vile clearly not fresh, sausage was dry. Will not be returning

I purchased food twice on my recent visit to Stoke but they are not the same as I experienced 18 months ago! Lots of hard, warm, not hot chips, lightly fried with very little taste. Sorry but something needs to change.

My daughter lives in blurton and we visited her last Saturday and I said I will nip the chip shop to get us all dinner, Big Mistake I ordered a fishcake, lge Sausage, Small sausage and Large Chips everything was OK apart from the chips you could not eat them every one was rock hard had loads of bits in there they were inedible so I ended up having no dinner for nearly £5 for a large chips they were disgusting, this used to be a great chip shop but it's gone down bank will not be using it again 😢

Captain Fry is the go to fish and chip shop.Staff are lovely and their fish and chips are absolutely delicious. Not greasy and so tasty. Beautiful white, fresh cod. Would not go anywhere else

I’ve lived in Blurton since 2011, I have visited this chip shop twice, once around the time I moved here and another time literally twenty minutes ago. I didn’t like the food after the first visit, and I decided to visit today as I see a steady flow of people going in and out of there, and the building has changed so maybe the food is different?. No Chips were pale and raw on the inside, absolute horror show, gravy was like sludge with about 2kg of salt in it. Wants shutting down or selling to somebody who knows how to cook a potato

Really gone down bank, 6pm queue out the door, not actually the staffs fault as they’re all working as hard n fast as they can, just eat orders going off!!!! Can’t keep up with the demand. Use to use on a weekly basis this is the reason I stopped queuing and waiting for food.

Chips looked like they been sitting there for hours hard dry curry bland portion size shocking never again not used this since it changed hands won’t be using ever again heard people say food not great but thought give it a go as normally use catch of the day serves me right for been lazy

Don’t know what’s happened to the place but very expensive for a regular bag of chips, that are hard and unedible. Will not be returning as it was not the first time the chips where hard almost teeth breaking at times.

Food overall is ok and most staff are brilliant however there is a lady with blonde hair and glasses who I find very rude... first time I went in I thought maybe she had a bad day but been in a couple times after that and nope seems she's just like that.. very bitter. Customer service skills are awful. It's nice to be nice especially as you do not know the demons people battle daily. A smile goes a long way and manners cost absolutely nothing. I'm not a bitter person like her so hoping she sees this and accepts it as constructive criticism. Smile duck, it may never happen.

Member of staff are rude, i’ve noticed a few times some of them like to hang out in the back and go in their phones, allowed a member of staff to stay in after she had thrown up (breaking the law, any one who works with food or who has knows you cannot be working around food if you’ve thrown up) One staff member gave a 17 year old co codomol on an empty stomach, with then lead to her throwing up! Food is always dry and never hot, the smell of the sausage reminds me of poo. The establishment is always messy and they are never stocking the fridge so any drink you want is always out because they can’t be bothered to top anything up, i recommend you spend your money somewhere else.

Just the nicest chippy with lovely welcoming staff. Had a lovely chippy tea from there tonight and it was delicious thank you.

Third time in a row in the same week. Chips are always dry and taste like they were fried a while ago and just kept hot - I used to love their chips, but not so now. I had to throw the last lot away. Totally uneatable. Not going there anymore for chips.

I have never been to this establishment before today and from my experience,I Will not be returning. I stumbled across this chip shop during my lunch break as my usual chip shop was closed. I asked for a sausage gravy and chips meal and was given the below photo ( i had not realised until returning to my office). Extremely disappointed as i had waited and watched the staff joke about who was processing whos order and then still get it wrong. I arent one to leave reviews usually but on this occasion I was literally left with a bad taste in my mouth.

Good food but I gave a 2 star cus the cones are are rubbish see attached pic 1.60 for that.

Fish and chip shop with no fish ready and only made to order at 12.30 midday rush hour. So I couldn't have a fish as no time to wait . 6 customers in the shop. 2 workers who take their time and seem much less efficient than any other fish and chip shop I've been to. Chip portions were much smaller than most chip shops and for the price. Peas were so tasteless. Chips and sausage were ok tho.

Had fish chips and peas last night ,the chips were soggy couldn't eat them, the fish was no existant, 1% fish 99% batter .the batter was over cooked ,wont be going again ,absolutely awful

Along with usual choices Captain Fry also do their own curries, liver & onions & even chicken dinner, with great taste & flavour That staff are always pleasant and welcoming and the service is excellent 10/10

Best in Stoke let alone Burton. Always an outstanding menu on offer including many dishes not found in any other fish and chip establishment. Staff are always super polite helpful and amazingly efficient. If you pardon the pun they batter McDs and ruler over Burger King. Daily and permanent deals always available making them fantastic value. If you are thinking of food then plaice your order here
