Caphe House in Southwark

I’m currently writing this while eating and I would have to say the experience has been amazing from front of house; the guy taking the orders to even the waiter. And their pho is absolutely amazing. The caphe house has a quaint atmosphere and you can tell they care about all their customers. I came here on my lunch break knowing I only had 45mins-1hr. They brought out my food in good timing and it was piping hot and delicious. Thank you for such a great experience

Great location and great quality pho. Soup was clean and flavours were great. Only concern I have was with regards to pricing. £9 for 2 summer rolls which could be finished in 4 bites didn’t seem great value. £42.50 for a regular beef pho, chicken bun bo hue and summer roll before service charge left us a bit disappointed. Especially since you’re asked to order via an app so service provided is just being served your food on a simple table. Quality was good, but can definitely find the same quality for much better pricing elsewhere.

I visited for lunch and tried the house pho which did not disappoint. The broth was sensational - perfectly seasoned with fresh flavours and ingredients. Very filling with generous portions, great value for money. Exactly what I needed on a cold winter afternoon. Staff were also very friendly and super efficient. I will definitely be back!

Well worth a visit for the only Vietnamese egg coffee in London!

We came across this place just a few minutes away from White Cube gallery. We had without doubt the best prawn pho we had ever tasted. Staff were all very friendly. Highly recommended

Great choice of pho including a seafood version and a vegan broth option. I highly recommend their traditional coffee with egg whites and condensed milk!

We came to visit London, from the hotel we walked around and stumbled into this restaurant. We decided to try and were amazed that the pho was quite excellent compared to the ones in the states. The broth was delicious, the meat was tender and the noodles were just right. The price is quite reasonable. The service was good. It’s practically self serve since we ordered from the phone, paid through the phone and the food brought out, we eat and leave. The water is also self service on a counter. Quite efficient and fast IMO.

The smell of the broth alone will bring you in off the street. Great Pho and other traditional dishes.

When a regular orders a gluten free option and you get the order wrong do not ask them to scrape away the egg noodles. Replace the meal. & Don’t humiliate them in front of the whole place. Oh. And maybe do food safety training. You can make people very sick.

It was a cold winter day with less than 2 degrees. We ordered a Rare Steak & Brisket beef Huế and a Chicken Phở. People who love sour and spicy must fall in love with the Hue. The rare steak and brisket beef were also tender and added a layer for the Hue. Personally, enjoyed the Chicken pho as well, the broth was perfect, its just the chicken is slightly chewy. Vietnamese egg coffee also great, the cream on top match well with the coffee.

It’s an Excellent place! I genuinely recommend Beef curry stew Egg 🤤🤤 Combo Huế is also delicious! The service is highly fantastic!!!

Thit kho and Jasmine Rice lacked flavor, with the meat being dry. The summer roll was tasteless. Will be back just for the special Banh mi.

Finally found a Viet restaurant in London that does Egg Coffee! Although I got the wrong phó, (I ordered Combo Phó but got Normal beef Phó) the chef gave me an extra portion of short ribs at the end. The beef was so nice and tender.

Fancied some chicken pho, and this place was 5 mins from hotel. Fantastic food and service, portion size is huge. Highly recommended.

Their Bánh mì was fresh and light and the coffee was mind blowingly good (try the egg coffee). I didn’t love the Bún Huế as I felt it was missing something, but I’ll be revisiting to try other items on their menu (and have more coffee).

The food is really nice and probably worth the money given the huge portion.

Superb authentic Vietnamese food. The large meals are pretty big so unless you've got a huge appetite the small meals should be more than big enough. Staff are polite and friendly and offer a warm smile.

For that authentic Vietnamese food experience, then this is the place to visit. The menu is quite extensive so you'll be spoilt for choice. You order at the table via a QR code, and there's no alcohol on the menu.

First time in London visiting from America, this was my first food experience. This place is great! Nice relaxing atmosphere, more than fair prices and the food was amazing. Will definitely be back to London and definitely back here.

Excellent! The aroma of this restaurant is the real perfume of Vietnam. It’s run by a Vietnamese couple whose enjoyment at sharing this authentic food is palpable. We (two of us) ordered the summer roll platter “are you sure you want the platter it’s for four people?” Oh yes we do! “ They enjoyed our enthusiasm and it was so worth it as they were fabulous and bounteous. We also shared a huge bowl of and a house noodle soup with prawns, chicken and deliciously rare beef slivers. Superb food and good value for money too. I’ll go back again! I also bought some chilli oil and garlic chilli paste to take home, what a find!

I can always count on a great pho at Caphe House. Have to resist going in every time I walk past as it smells so great. Food is warming and service is quick and friendly.

I really liked the Pho here. Service is simple, unfussy and reasonably speedy. Would come again on a slow weekend for lunch - wish it didn't close so early on the weekdays!

First-time at Caphe House, but we are seasoned Vietnamese foodies. Attended the Bermondsey Street Festival, and we stumbled upon this eatery. Proprietors were friendly, and they were even careful to confirm the level of spiciness with our kids after we placed the order. We each had various pho noodles and vermicelli soups, which were "infused with full-flavoured broth" and tender pieces of beef. Love it, and we left with very satisfied tummies 💕

Closed even when Google says its open. Wasted 30 mins coming here. At the resturant door - there is no sign at all to say you closed - only saying you closed on 12th september for refurb.

I am puzzled by how this place can be this packed. Unfortunately the food or some sauces were extremely sugary and the overall taste was not as I expected. The backroom kind of makes you feel good (because you have found a table) but then you realise how weird eating room that is. The only OK food was the rare steak & brisket hué. Stay away from the wings.

You can scan the QR code on your table to order. Big portion of food and it was really tasty. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff.

I was craving some pho and was reminiscing about the meal I had here jn April 2023. Some of the best pho I’ve ever eaten. The portions were huge but it was so good, I had to finish my bowl.

The prawn pho went fabulously with my Carolina Reaper!

Came here with some friends for a quick dinner on a Friday evening before heading to a jazz bar nearby. I had expected it to be quite busy at 7:30 but it was surprisingly empty so we managed to get a table at the back easily. Waiter was friendly too. We ordered via the QR code they have assigned on all the tables with a number provided for your table so you can order online and pay. There's also the option to not pay the service charge so it's definitely good to know. We went with the shredded pork vermicelli noodle bowl with salad, the pork belly vermicelli noodle bowl with salad as well, and my friend got a hot Vietnamese coffee on the side. It was an interesting way of marinating the shredded pork with lots of black pepper and spring onions, as I had never tried that in other Vietnamese places but I really liked the flavours coming together with the pork. It was slightly misleading with the picture on the online menu as I saw some spring rolls in the bowl for this specific item so I was expecting them but there were none. Nonetheless I enjoyed it on a hot summer evening as it was refreshing with the salad and lukewarm noodles. The coffee was very strong and smooth too, which is exactly my personal preference. My friend mentioned the pork belly wasn't really belly meat as the fatty bits were missing but overall she enjoyed her meal too. It's definitely not the best Vietnamese place I have tried so far in London but it's one I am happy to revisit if I am around the area again soon.

Awful place, not only does the food not resemble the photos on their digital menu, their service is despicable. And the food quality is very poor. Uncooked and hard stale rice. Pork seemed like it was leftover from 2 days ago. Not coming back here again!!

I live in San Francisco Bay Area and travel often to London for work. Since my first visit to Caphe 2 years ago, I have been retuning to this wonderful place every time - never miss! This is a true authentic Vietnamese restaurant operated by a young and friendly family. It is better than many of the top Vietnamese restaurants in SF. The food is excellent; price is very reasonable and the people are the best 👍👍👍 Highly recommended !!

I ordered a take away in the lunch hour, I know they are busy but I waited for full 30mins before I got my food. The problem was they made all other orders before my orders because I ordered something long time to make. It is not acceptable and they didn't say anything for the late delivery. So they selected the order to make . Be aware. Thank you for the replied below. My point was to point out the problem when I ordered the meal, I am expected to have it in line with the other order. I saw 80% of the other costumer who ordered their food after my order got their food a lot quicker than me. i.e. they waited for 10 - 20mins max but I waited for 30mins. All because you selected the food to make for order, not to work base on the order time. I expected to wait for my food at least 10 - 15mins for today but i am not expected most of other costumer got their food before my turn. And i am very disappointed to get the comment related to get a fast food next time. It is a very good comment to reflect your business quality. thanks

Today went to buy a take away lunch from the shop. It wasn't my first time to buy there. Normally, the service is acceptable without too much issue. However, I would like to share my experience with other peoples. Caphe House located just next to my office in 2mins walking distance. I went out around 1:20pm to the shop for order take away. I ordered my food around 1:30pm and waited outside of the shop. There were a few costumers bought food after me and also waited for the food outside as we all got the device to notify you when the food is ready to collect. When the time passed, it was around 5 - 7 persons who ordered the food after my order have been picked up their food. I noticed because when i was standing outside, it was quite a bit of peoples were waiting for their food. They are all gone. So Caphe House just made their food before they are preparing my food. I waited 30mins, 2pm, to pick up my food. I wasn't happy for the service, as they didn't mentioned why it was so much delay for the food etc. I leave an bad comments in Google for the services i received. I gave 4 stars for the food there but 1 star for the services. and I got a comment back from the manager with his apologies as he got 2 sick staffs today. however, his comments also included "Please go elsewhere for your future lunches, perhaps fast food would be quicker. " In my opinion, it is understandable to have a day with staffs shortage. I would expect if it is the case, before I order the food, he could tell me it will be a long waiting time, so I can have the option not to buy there today. instead, I got the comments back from the manager. 30mins is 50% for normal person lunch break, i was just standing outside of their shop to wait. I could go to other places if he told me in advance. But I got the offensive comments back from the Manager. I do not feel it is a good approach for a restaurant. but anyway, the food is good but the service are terrible. I won't go back there anymore because the manager asked me to go somewhere else. I ordered the most expensive food from the store and they won't like to make it because they want to make other food as it is more simple. It is the way how it was. Sorry for the long review but it is the service i got unfortunately.

Pro: good selection of food, easy to order using QR code Con: average flavoured beef pho costing £17 with extra noodles, I am expecting more given this price. Also not a fan of ginger in the soup. Update: originally 3 star but looking at the response from the owner, they don’t even deserve 3 star if they cannot accept a fair review from customers. I saw the price indeed and made my order well aware of what I was about to pay, but if you are charging £17 for a pho, I am expecting better quality and your food was disappointing, what’s wrong with that? I can surely complain about your price if it does not match the quality. Also, I have not had a pho with ginger pieces in it, I tried it and I did not like it, that’s just my experience, yes I can request to remove it but I won’t be bothered to visit your place again with such attitudes towards a fair review.

Staff very helpful and recommended me a delicious mix box. The food and Iced coffee were delicious (genuinely). So reasonably priced for the quality. Arrived very quickly!

It wasn't awful but it wasn't great. I went with high hopes of an authentic banh mi "thit nuong" and asked if they sold these at the counter, as the menu had english names that didn't translate to what I was looking for. I was told that it was the caramelised pork, which usually refers to "thit kho", a completely different type of filling. As suspected, I received a banh mi thit kho that I didn't want. It was dry because they toast the baguettes to hide the fact that they don't use good crusty bread, and they didn't even include any of the delicious pork fat that usually comes with this filling. Maybe the other dishes are alright, but I would not recommend the baguettes.

Had an absolutely delicious bowl of bún Huế here. Packed with flavor, and it really satisfied my craving for something sour and spicy flavored. One of the best bowls of noodle soup I’ve had in a restaurant, and I’ve tried lots! I preferred the rare beef to the brisket by far.

Caphe House offer excellent, excellent, vietnamese food. I live in Ha Noi, Vietnam, I eat a lot of vietnamese food, daily. Caphe House's broth base for their Bun Hue is *incredible*. Very tasty better than in Vietnamese street food places in Ha Noi. Addictive and tasty. London prices aside, it's a very good place with friendly staff. Highly recommended!!

I live in Vietnam, in Ha Noi. I eat Vietnamese street food every day, including Bun, Pho, Bun Hue etc as sold at Caphe House. London pricing aside, the food is very, very good. The broth base for their soup is incredible and better than most street food places I find in Ha Noi. Very highly recommended.

Often meet people near London Bridge and finding a place to eat has been challenging - too pricey or noisy. This place was neither - delicious food, good prices, and you can hear each other. Really impressed and glad to have found it.

Cut of meat could be of higher quality, but the pho is very good. They ask to pay the tip as usual although it's order by phone. It's also fairly priced.

Best Pho I've ever had and I grew up in Paris so we really have more than our fair share of Vietnamese food out there. Tad bit expensive but that's reflected in the volume, quality and location.

Loved this place, my friend took me here for the first time a while ago but I cannot stop thinking about the pho and the lemonade!

Amazing food, I came here with my mum and my nephew with a buggy so it was a bit hard to get into the place, however we were seated with plenty of room. They even gave us an extra bowl so we could feed our nephew :) I love the service and the Pho I had, which was the combo was delicious. I would definitely come again.

My partner and I come here frequently for the most delicious pho in town! Staying in or taking away - every pho they have is on another level. The place is ran by lovely, friendly and warm people. I appreciate the care they put into running the place and preparing the meals. Another bonus for me is the efficiency they work with. Food is prepared super quickly in case you need to get a take away on a working day.

I have been a regular customer for over 2 years now. They make the most amazing pho noodle soup I have ever had. It is extremely tasty and healthy. I would recommend. The staff is always friendly and welcoming.

I am visiting london and found caphe house as we were walking and came here with two of my friends. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. As for the food it was beyond amazing. I enjoyed every bit of it and will happily go eat here again! I highly recommend for a cozy dinner and good food.

Wonderful! Our first time in a few days ago. Food and service were both outstanding. We had the spicy Pho (aka Hue). Will go back - soon. The only reason no 5th star us because we would have loved to grab a beer too - but for some strange reason they sell alcohol only for take-way and not on-premises. I hpe they remedy this so I can add the 5th star.

The beef pho was good, but I don’t understand why they put so much ginger in the broth, the leaves come with the soup was so little, normally in an authentic Vietnamese restaurant, it comes with a dish of different leaves for you to add into the soup. I also think the price is too high for just a pho! I’d rather go to Vietnamese restaurants street !!! They provide better service/ nicer environment/ huge quantity/ reasonable price!!!! The egg coffee is not bad, but it’s very salty… the scan code/service price are jokes ….I would not come back again

Amazing pho and coffee. My first time trying vietnamese egg coffee and this place did not disappoint.

The vegan pho was ok. Lacked the tummy flavours I've had in other phos. My husband really liked the tofu vermicelli bun. However the staff were not particularly friendly with us, while I saw them being quite nice to others. Perhaps some racist undertones there .. Hence the -1 star. Also not sure why we paid the 12.5% service charge, when we do everything ourselves- from getting the water, to ordering and walking to the counter for any sauces!

Pho was delicious however very overpriced. Banh mi was very bad. I swear it was the wrong meat. Probably the worst I’ve had in my life and was again was overpriced and pre made. No option of chilli out.

I asked staff how I could order it from the menu using the QR code displayed on the tables, because it wasn't there on the list under 'hot drinks'. Unfortunately, they didn't have the vietnamese egg coffee that day due to supplier issues, which is understandable. It would have better if they had maybe informed customers via the app/on the menu board if certain items are not available, especially the egg coffee - one of the most popular drinks here!! :( Edit: In response to the owner - I'm very disappointed with your response. A sorry will suffice and like I said I understand when there are supplier issues. I gave some valuable feedback that you could have taken on board. I didn't receive an apology in person either on the day. I'll be going somewhere else. I wish you the very best in your business.
