Canton Chinese Restaurant & Takeaway in Taunton Deane

Food is OK, nothing to write home about. The delivery service though?! The first order they forgot items, the second (and last order) they forgot us. We called up after waiting an hour and we were informed they'd start cooking it now and were sorry?!

We used the canton as china china was closed. It wasn’t a good meal, though adequate. Sorry 😞

Amazing food, just unfortunately a delayed delivery. Really hot food that tasted great. Our original delivery time was 6:55-7:15pm. It was delivered at 7:40pm. They sent a note to apologise and gave us free prawn crackers and fortune cookies. Would order again.

Gave them another chance and wish I hadn’t. Chips were missing and all the food has a strange, burnt taste to it.

really lovely food, especially the chow Mein, chicken and cashew, egg fried rice, and aromatic duck with excellent hoi sin sauce. the BBQ sauce on the ribs and the ribs themselves could be a little better as there wasn't much taste. but all in all, a great meal, and the lovely note attached showed the staff really care about their customers, and the additional fortune cookies and prawn crackers for what was an ever so slight delay was a lovely touch :) would recommend!

This is a review of my order only. Rest of the family were happy with what they ordered. Why why why do you put mushrooms and raw carrots in chicken curry? They never ever ever ever go in curry at all. It was absolutely vile. Chips have also been reheated so many times that they were rock solid batons

Rubbish delivery timing. I phoned the restaurant when it was half an hour late, they said ‘soon’…. Eventually arrived 40 minutes late. I placed the order 2 hours in advance.

I really liked the grilled dumplings and the complimentary crispy snack with the food.i totally enjoyed it.Thank you 😊

Ordered at five to seven delivered at twenty five past nine will not be using again quality not great

ordered @ 19.30 told it would be an hour to 20.50 before I got my food. It took me calling them at 9 for them to realise they had my order. when it arrived, the food was lack-luster. The noodles felt stale and the pork has a lot of gristle. The sauce with the crispy chilli beef was mostly liquid and a good amount of beef hadn't seen the sauce. When I prompted through Just Eat for money back, I received £3 back. They also left an apology taped to the bag, which was nice of them.

Very late I understand restaurant was very very busy but we had no information from anybody about the delay not good at all

We had to go and collect our food when it was 2 hours after original delivery time and no one was answering the phone.

Thank you for a lovely note you left with our food. Shame it took too long but apart from that. We had some really nice food. Honey spare ribs was amazing and soup and chicken balls was lovely. Only downfall was the chicken chow mein. The chicken was really dry.

Feel like the taste was different today , with the sauce being more ‘vinegary’. Food was warm and usually a great place to order from. Shame about the taste tonight !

I ordered an appetiser platter which should have had spare ribs. There were none. The mixed meat curry and curry sauce were both tasteless. It was a very disappointing meal.

First time have food from here but it was the best ever in Taunton will be having again,delivery was a little late but after all it was New Year’s Eve

Great food, My family and I have eaten here since I was a child, around 15 years, and the quality has always been top notch. Definitely the best Chinese food in town. The last time I ordered I put the wrong delivery address and they went out of their way to make sure I got my food when it returned to them undelivered, even re-making my order to ensure that it was fresh and hot! I’d give more than 5* if I could!

The curry was watery had no heat to it at all. The chicken was tough and the batter was very doughy very disappointed

Food was over an hour late and unfortunately it wasn’t worth the wait. I can’t fault the temperature as it was all nice and hot when it arrived but unfortunately both mine and my wife’s selections were bland (beef with cashew nuts, beef curry, mini spring rolls and salted chicken wings). Even though we were both very hungry due to the additional waiting time, we left over half the food as it was tasteless. Disappointing and wouldn’t recommend.

Order was supposed to be delivered by 18.55pm didn't arrive untill 19.40.

Even though delivery was 20 mins late the restaurant wrote a lovely little note saying sorry and apologising which I thought was so nice, food always hot when delivered can't complain wouldn't go anywhere else!

Have always loved Canton and regularly use it but was disappointed as love their curry sauce but today it was different and didn’t taste as nice

Really tasty food- lovely tender meat and crunchy fresh veggies, and the lady I spoke to on the phone was very friendly, polite and helpful. Will definitely be ordering again!

Over priced for the quality of the food. Really not anything special. Special curry is carrot onion chicken beef, and one king prawn. Really sweet tasting as well. Bit sickly really. Chicken balls are spongy in the middle. Could do with more cooking time. Sesame prawn toast. Was 6 small peace’s and really couldn’t taste the prawn. Over all. Very poor for the price of £18.50p. Wouldn’t eat there again.

Very late...had to phone to be told the delivery car had broken down...so late I had to go to bed waste of 33 quid

The food was amazing. Although the food was delivered late it was out of the restaurants control and they handled it very well. We even had a little note in our takeaway apologising which was a lovely personal touch. We will definitely recommend and be ordering from Canton again.

First time using Canton takeaway and the food was absolutely delicious! Although the order was slightly delayed, the staff were so lovely and even sent a hand written note apologising. We've tried most Chinese takeaways in Taunton and this is now our firm fav!

Food was mostly delicious, confused and disappointed that there is a difference between satay chicken and chicken with satay sauce. Wasn’t able to eat the chicken with satay sauce as not very nice.

Excellent quality food, very enjoyable

Food was relatively quick to arrive, but was hands down the worst chinese I have ever eaten. The satay sauce was completely bland, the pork was slimey and did not taste pleasant at all and the veg tasted off aswell. Normally order from Zian Palace but tried here for the first time as Zian wasn't taking orders. Never again!

First time for a takeaway from Canton. Will definitely go back. Vegetarian choices are the best I have had in a long time. All the dishes were hot, tasty and,as described. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

Food is fine, but I was upset that the prawn crackers tasted chewy like expired leftovers. If it were free I probably wouldn't care but I couldn't believe how much of a waste of money that was!

Great food. VERY disappointed that the 'special chow mein' was just a portion of noodles at the bottom of the tub, with leftover beef in oyster sauce one top. Which was part of my 2 person meal! So they were clearly being lazy and just put the leftover beef in oyster sauce in my chow mein, rather than ACTUALLY making special chow mein, WHICH I HAD PAID FOR! This is my first bad review of canton and from a regular customer, im very disappointed in this laziness!

The chicken in curry was disgusting. Im not sure what they did to it but it wasnt nice. The duck and mushroom was mostly duck fat and they only gave a part portion as they put loads of rice in the tub. What a waste of money no other restaurants do this any time i have ordered duck and mushroom you get a tub full. For the price payed i was really disappointed and definitely wont be ordering from here again.

Tried this takeaway for the first time tonight and I was very impressed, the chicken chow mein was a hit with the children, and the curry sauce was one of the best I’ve had. (Extra hot) Very resonantly priced too. Will definitely be back.

Everything was lovely and well cooked apart from the BBQ ribs which were rather plain and lacking in any sauce. Cooked nicely but needs a better marinade.
