Best Chinese around Wrexham ignore the one star reviews!!! Quality over quantity 😋

Cash only, real let down in 2023

Has a poster on the door saying they take card payment and then was asked as I ordered to walk to get out cash instead. I apologised and said it was a Sunday and I couldn’t as no where was open to be told they would not take my order & let me use the card machine unless I spend £15, my order was only £10 so they refused to take it.

Having never used before, being a tourist it wasn't bad at all. Cheap compared to our town. Had Singapore fried rice, whilst wife had plain chow main....all good.

I always use this establishment as I live just around the corner from it. Julie and her family are so lovely. The food is always to a high standard. Great food, warm welcome and a lovely family what more could you want.

Probably some of the best food I’ve had in the UK! Service was quick too!

I've had some nice meals here, but the duck in "plum" sauce is nice, but could do with some bean sprouts thrown in as it's just 1 duck breast (very nice too) a bit of sauce and loads of pineapple chunks?? Something lost in translation?? The chips and curry sauce is amazing.

This is my favourite Chinese takeaway in the area due to the food not containing that much saturated fat, food has a good colour and very flavoursome.

Been using canton chef for many years but in the last year or so its gone downhill. Since kids have been running it the food is nowhere near as good as it has been. On more than one occasion chicken has been under cooked... once in a curry and once in a chow mein. Such a shame

Chicken sweet and sour, chicken fried rice, noodles and curry sauce. Very tasty and ready on time. We will be back.

Read the reviews and we were unsure but when lock down came they were one of the few places open so tentatively ordered. It's now our regular. The 1/4 duck with extra pancakes or sweet & sour chicken are my faves. The other half likes the special black pepper or curry. The young lady that brings out the order is absolutely lovely. We've asked for special requests and nothing is too much trouble. Maybe it was a blip a few years ago or new owners, but this is a great find for us and is now our go to.

The food was delicious 👌. But a bit too dry, but that's my opinion and it's still very delicious. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Crispy duck meal was beautifully cooked and prepared and all ready on time for collection. Will definitely be using again.

I ordered beef in black bean. So many hard green peppers in it with watery sauce and 6 pieces of beef.usually very good from here .

We always pick up a Chinese from Cantin Chec when drinking in The Bridge Inn next door. Always excellent. We have tried a wide range of dishes and all are very good

For me this is the best Chinese takeaway in the area. Service is excellent. You don't have to wait long for your meal and if you pre-order it's better. Meals are always hot and very tasty. Roast pork with mushrooms is perfection! It's very popular. Highly recommended.

Food was hot and tasty but for the price we paid the portion size was very small. Good fast service.

This Chinese is in my local village and I very rarely use it as they NEVER fulfil the order. It must be 2 years since I last went and then when we had our order on new years eve one of the portions had no sauce!!! Tonight my order did not have the prawn crackers and when I phoned to check whether I had paid (which I had) it was a sorry please call back. Not a chance for a bag of prawn crackers and remind me the next time we order..... Won't be a chance of that either - canton chef very disappointing, again!!!

Placed a rather large order for 3 people, order was received and taken home. Usually order the same items from which ever Chinese we visit. This is the first and last visit to this place that's for sure. Ordered foo yung for myself which once I had opened it was clear to see hardly any egg, very little meat and resembled more of a waste bag of rubish. Giving that was all we had to eat and them closing for the evening I attempted to put it onto a plate. The juices that was in the bottom of the tray completly covered a large plate and ruined the rice in the process, placed it all back onto the tray and phoned up to complain to be told they were closing and couldn't deal with anything till the following day but could I send pictures. 3 pictures later I received a reply back a day after telling me I had kept it in the tray too long (2 minutes drive from my house) and the juiced were from bean sprouts and steam from the cooking. Appolagised for the inconvenience!! I personally have never seen food served in that state, clearly resembles nothing like foo yong I have had elsewhere. My emails were been directed through an employee, there was not 1 mention of a replacement or exchange further down the line (Not that I would eat anything from there after seeing this) Avoid this place!!!!!

I got mine and it was just duck and pinapple in which looked like meat juices, I phoned them to ask if the sauce had been forgotten and was told this was the plum sauce what I asked 50ml of watery meat juices is my plum sauce, yes the lady replied so I asked if I'd ordered plum sauce of the menu that's what I would of got. She apologised but that's it, a sorry does not solve my dry dinner, no offer to give me more water(sauce) or try the meal next time for free if I wasn't happy, only the fact I had drove 10mile to work before realising or they would of had it back.Lots of good chinese resteraunts in the area oriental express or china china both much better give them a try insted.

As far as Chinese style take aways go, Canton Chef in Ruabon is one of the better ones in that area. Had take outs from there a number of times. I usually order the same thing from any Chinese style establishment (singapore noodles) & was never disappointed with my order. Consistent & friendly.

Have been using this chinese for years despite now having to travel 10 miles to collect as it is by far the best in the area. Staff are very polite and welcoming, food is very promptly prepared and always tastes amazing.

Hobbit portions. Food quality ok/good. I just don't understand why the portions are so small. More profit to pay for all inclusive holiday or the extension which failed as a business. fair play to them but I would like to have a least a plate full off food.

Have been going here since I was a young teen. Food has always been spot on, friendly service & fairly priced. Introduced a few people to the Canton Chef and they all rate it as the best they've had!

Enjoyed a meal with a party of friends. The food was good, tasty and nicely presented. The staff were friendly and very helpful explaining dishes and advising us. I'm sure we will definitely be calling again - and maybe even ordering a takeaway sometimes.

Best Chinese I've had in a long time super friendly staff and very prompt service..... asked if we could order a Chinese now and go for a quick pint in the Bridgend no problem will cut at all

We used to be regular customers here as this was by far the best Chinese takeaway in the area. Last two visits were very dissapointing. As we tend to get the same things each time we noticed sauces were different and not the same quality and just generally not as good. Shame.

Lovely fresh tasting Cantonese food. Live in Cardiff but there is certainly nothing to compare with here in Cardiff

Food was ok, nothing to rave about. Portion sizes for the price leaves a lot to be desired. I have included a photo of the half portion that my wife paid full price for.

Apart from having to wait almost a hour for are food when we get home and opened it the portions were tiny not even enough to feed a 5 year old it was cold chips were undercooked omelette​ was disgusting barley any chicking in it and had bones in . Also salt and pepper chiking there was about 8 pieces what were tiny and over cooked very disappointing AVOID THIS CHINESE

If you want to loose weight come here. Twice in a row had food poisoning last time made me have bad stomach for just over a week. They have pest control van outside their every other week. Food taste nice tbh but book some time off work before you order as it cost me a weeks wages to eat here

Absolutely Awful!!! Tiny Portion Sizes!!! Special Fried Rice completely dry with no Sauce and hardly any Meat in!! Prawn Crackers were Soggy!! Chicken in Yellow Bean Sauce just tasted of Salt!! Despite spending £26 we didn't get as much as a free bag of Spring Rolls.......... Just a Wall Scroll promoting their Crappy Restaurant. Probably the worst Takeaway I've ever had!!

Always preorder pick up within 15mins usually great value and well cooked meals and reasonably priced

After working 8 hrs I called in for a Chinese for us both I wish I hadn't it was awfull I will never go back there again.

Regular customer, always very tasty food, good portions, Let you know how long it will be, so no waiting when you collect. Very friendly helpful staff.

My family and I have been going to Canton Chef for years, and the food is always delicious, full of flavour, generous portions and fantastic value. The staff are very friendly too. Highly recommend anyone in the area to visit this place :)

Love this takeaway, would recommend to anyone! Fast service, only downfall is they don't deliver. Love how friendly staff are, nothing is ever too much trouble.
