Friendly and attentive service. The whole meal for a family of four was superb. We had poppadoms, starters and mains with no desert. It was spotlessly clean Aland the price was very reasonable. I don’t usually write reviews but felt I had to it was so good.

Was greeted in a very friendly & pleasant manner. The service was very efficient with several waiters attending to us. Totally relaxed & unhurried. The food was delicious & the portions were large. I consider the price of the 2 course meal including drinks to be good value for the quality of the food & surroundings. Will certainly visit again.

We have been using Cannons for over 20 years and usually enjoy the food and service at the resturant. However, be ware when ordering takeaway service. We ordered food at 7.04pm and we're told it would be 45 minutes to 1 hour. After 2 chase up phone calls our food finally arrived at 8.50pm. 1hrs 50 minutes! To top it all the starter was missing which was duly despatched after another phone call. We ate our starter at 9.40pm. Not sure if they have changed owners or have just gone down the pan like so many other resturants in the area. Great shame. Incidently, no discount offered for late cold food for a very expensive takeaway. AVOID.

Went here with a group of friends for a birthday dinner. I was told this is THE place to go for Indian food. I had poppadoms, onion bhaji and the vegetable thali with chapati's. Firstly the staffs attitude was like we were a chore for them. I was excited to try their veg thali. Of all the dishes only one had flavour,,, the yogurt. Everything else was incredibly bland and did not have any of the exciting vibrant flavours of India. I tried someone's chicken korma which did have very good flavour but this review is about what I ordered. Tasteless. Because of that and the incredibly snobbishness of the staff, I wouldn't go here again.

I visited this restaurant last night, as my friend had been raving about how he had been going there for years and it was the best curry he had every had. Well quite frankly i feel sorry for him as the food was awful. We ordered 3 separate mains which all came out the same disgusting brown color and the sauces were tasteless. Onion bajis were rock solid hockey pucks. Ordered a king prawn starter for £6 and received 1 deformed prawn on a plate. Absolutely defeats the purpose of social distancing when various customers were waiting for their collection and the crowd of customers kept growing. We finally get the food (if that's what you call food) at 7.44pm and this was not even worth the wait. Definitely not for people with average palate forget strong palate.

This is the first time I had come to the restaurant since i moved from the area in around 12 years and it looks like the staff are mostly the same. Still wonderful service, tight seating and delicious food. As soon as you walk in, the nostalgic feel came back to me - very tight restaurant with squeezed in seating but all part of the atmosphere.Very friendly service; you can ask for items off the menu and they will try to accommodate as much as possible. The food and drink arrived promptly & was hot and fresh. We were in a large group and everything from the chicken tandoori starter to the chicken tikka biryani was absolutely tasty. The food was good but the service was dreadful. Firstly, the couple we went with the wife was strictly vegetarian. The husband ordered a meat samosa, and the wife a vegetable one. The waiter got them the wrong way around and she was nearly sick on her first bite, she had to spit it out. We told the waiter but he didn't seem bothered, and they ended up changing with her husband. She did get new cutlery but it was extremely badly handled. On a lesser note I asked for no lemon in my drink and got lemon - I was told 'just take it out'. It was a busy Saturday night, but even so we arrived at 7.30pm and our main course arrived at 9pm. Very slow.

Visited this restaurant last night with friends, as we have done for the past 37 years plus! We have never before had a problem but last night was one big problem from the minute we walked in. First of all we were visiting with friends one of whom has great difficulty walking and I specifically asked for a table at the front of the restaurant and able to accommodate this gentleman. Not only had they not done this but did not even have a table ready for us at the back section of the restaurant until half an hour after our original booking. They did not seem to care and almost blamed me for the fact that I did not want to sit at the back. We were just left standing aimlessly in the middle of the restaurant. When we eventually did sit down shoved as far back as you could go, our meals not only arrived cold once but twice! The food was then taken away and blitzed to a cinder in the kitchen in order to reheat our dishes that then obviously came up inedible. The staff were most unhelpful didn’t seem to care the restaurant was clearly overbooked and if this is the case they should in fact be big enough to refuse people they are unable to accommodate rather than end up with a bad review on this site for example. Upon bringing us our bill they asked us what we thought they should do in order to compensate us for an extremely poor experience. We replied it is not our place to make this decision but yours. They had trouble processing this. We put them out of their misery and said just bring us a bill for the drinks we have consumed and scrub everything else which is indeed what they did. Will we return? Doubtful ! Paradise in West End Lane would be a much nicer better bet better service never had a problem, also Maliks in Gerard’s cross. Try them, great food AND service fantastic. Cannons not so much and although they have been there for many decades both management and staff have gotten exceptionally complacent with their attitude. A full restaurant definitely does not equal good reviews, returning customers or recommendations.Great disappointment.

We ate at the restaurant on Thursday eve. A table of 14 people were next to us and as a result we were virtually ignored and waited over an hour for our food. Even when we asked where the food was we were hardly acknowledged. When the food finally arrived, one of the dishes was incorrect and we had to wait another 10 mins for it to be redone. Not once did they apologise. The tandoori dish I ordered as actually a bit bland and I found myself reaching for the salt to improve the flavour. When we left and we calmly stated how it had been disappointing that our food took too long to come , we were rudely told that we had only had to wait 5 mins longer for our food! A simple polite apology would have helped instead!

We hadn’t been to the restaurant since March 2017, so we were excited when in the area again we booked to visit as previous visits the food was amazing. We visited this restaurant in 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed our experience and gave the restaurant a glowing review on here. Sadly the same could not be said of our second visit upon our return to Canons Park this year. The warm greeting we received previously was no where to be seen. We hadn't booked a table but went at 6pm and plenty were available. However, we were shown to a rickety, squeaky fixed seating booth, right at the very back of the restaurant next to the toilets. Not a problem we thought, we are here for the excellent food...... wrong!! We ordered poppadoms to start and they came quite quickly. The accompanying chutneys, pickles and salad did not arrive for a further 5 minutes. Then we were asked to order drinks and this is where I really get to complain. We ordered over the course of the meal, One Bottle of Cobra, Two and half pints of Bottled Rolla Cola, (Certainly not the Real Thing!), One Ginger Ale and one glass of Tap water with ice. For this were charged £26 (YES Twenty Six Pounds). Absolutely disgustingly overpriced. Now, I move on to the food. I love Indian Cuisine and I like it spicy even hot. To accommodate this I ordered a Chicken Tikka Madras. Our food arrived and the portion sizes were ridiculously small. Our curries served in the stainless steel trays that you normally get your rice served on. I had five (Yes 5 pieces) of dry Chicken Tikka. My wife's and daughter in laws Tandoori Mix Grill was meant to have a King Prawn. The dried up "King" prawn was no bigger than a winkle and was almost inedible. The only good dish we received was the Saag Paneer side dish. We ate what we received because we had not eaten all day but would definitely not go back to this restaurant again after this meager bland tasting offering. There is so much choice around this area to dine at, but we definitely let sentiment rule our heads with our choice. How something that was once so good turn so definitely bad in a year is beyond me. Our final problem was that despite asking for the bill on three separate occasions it took 15 minutes to receive it. We were ready to leave so I had to walk up to the desk area to pay in total £91.00 for a meal that wasn't worth half of that. No thank you from the payment clerk/owner. I will tell you now whoever owns this Restaurant? We wont be back. You are living on past glowing reports like the one I previously left you. There are far better restaurants I am sure that we will happily pay our money to and not feel completely ripped off and dissatisfied.

The only reason why I have not given an excellent overall evaluation is because the decor is a little dated and the tables are so close together that you feel as if you belong equally with the people at the next table as you do with those at your own table. The food is actually not bad and if not their s..ty mediocre service I would be almost tempted to go there again. Been there twice. Every time we came in the door they pretended that they are full on. Which for some people may not be an issue, but for me after few times it becomes just irritating. Just a fact that somebody thinks I'm an idiot. 'Let me have a look... We may have a half a restaurant at the back empty...'. The food was not too bad, except a little bit burnt naan at the bottom, but still I think for the reasonable price that you pay, one gets their value. The quality of the good waiter is that they are there when you need them, but they leave you to eat in peace, when needs be. Those waiters kept coming right half way through the course, taking away the plates of one person when they finished, whilst the other person was eating. Elementary of waiting...At the end of our stay my friend asked me if I'd like a coffee, but sadly they didn't serve espressi, so I had passed. His coffee got served in a cafetiere, so he kindly offered that perhaps I'd like some of his anyway, as he's got plenty there - he'd just ask for another cup. So he did, but one of the waiters had said 'it's ok, but you'll get charged for another coffee'. Our initial reaction would be 'Why??'. Then the waiter promptly rushed to top up out cafetiere just to justify him charging us double. Now, before someone think's it's about money, let me explain. I had been working for a little bit as a waitress myself. On few occasions someone had ordered green tea and anyone who regularly drinks green tea, knows that after the first brew, you can still brew it couple more times. If they had asked me for another brew, would I do it for them? Of course! Why? Because it costs pennies to boil water. Yes, I could have made 'an income' for the business and charged her 3 quid for another tea, but what happens then? Will they come back again? Probably not. Sometimes one has to evaluate the cost for the company. Yes, you charged us for feral cup of coffee, but what was the service charge that you got?? You got 1 penny, which you well deserved for your greediness and mediocre service. I came there few days later, as I lost my walet with my documents in there and the impression I have got from them was that I wasn't sure whether they fully understood the seriousness of the issue. In fact, wasn't sure if they understood me at all. The first question I was asked back was, if there were money in there. Honestly I did not see the relevance of the question... In the end I found it. It's just their arrogance really annoyed me. I felt like they could not care less. The overall is that sadly quite a good food is neutralized by the sad service. Sorry guys. Wearing suits is not enough.

So, Ii will start off by saying that this wasn't a first choice of restaurant that we wanted to go to tonight, but it was local and we thought why not...Firstly, there was a waiter there, no idea what his name was because nobody wore name badges, but very over pushy, and when we asked him to recommend something on the menu, decided to go through every product they sold. Not helpful as I didn't eat fish and he didn't decide to ask specifically what we were inquiring about. It took a while to choose the main as he was not helpful whatsoever. So it was a Friday evening and they asked to order everything together, not a problem, there was a few of the waiters there who were very friendly, I would like to mention that, but the guy we had just seemed to assume we were together as he was constantly reminding us when the starters arrived that we could share together..The starters were okayish, We had sheek kebab and chicken tikka, not the greatest, quickly we established that the food here isn't catered to the Indian market, which again we had no issue with, then the main arrived. Chicken Madras or so they called it, it was totally bland almost as if they had put chicken pieces in a tomato sauce added some chilli powder and billed up 8 quid for it, and the portion was tiny. 8 pieces and a bit of sauce. As nobody had asked us how the food was, we decided to mention this to the waiter at the end, and we asked him, whether this restaurant caters to the non indian market more, and were told yes with a few indian customers, and generally if they want more indian flavours we would have to ask the chef to make it more to our liking.Funny he never mentioned that when we ordered. He then told us that NEXT TIME we come we can tell the chef to make it different, NEXT TIME!!! is he for real, the arrogance on him was unreal.Never going back here again

The food is very good and the staff friendly. Décor needs to be updated however this does add to the "old curry house charm, They offer a "free" delivery service on orders over £20 however we have found they add a cheeky £2 to the order price.

It's very clear on your first visit that customer service is high on the agenda for the staff here. Lots of first-name relationships with the locals etc. There is a high number of staff, but nobody is ever just standing around - they are always busy attending to customers. The food is very nice: my particular favourite is the chicken akbari masala and prawn jalfrezi, both are lovely, especially with the mushroom pilau rice. Try it, whether you are a local or just passing through the area - you won't be disappointed.

This used to be the best Indian in Edgware sadly before they had competion. Its now in my view second best but still worth a try. I was let down with the free leaving drink as was told it was Jack Daniels but being an expert on the drink knew it wasnt at all. Hence only go back as a meeting place when friends use the tube etc

I have eaten here several times and never been disappointed. We went for a meal here last night and had another superb meal. I had a madras that was full of flavour and spicy without being over the top. We also had a Roshini with loads of garlic, beautiful!!! The service from entry to exit was brilliant and we really enjoyed our meal and will, of course, be back!!

Terrible service, bland food and poor value for money. On arrival we were shown to a cramped table and had to wait before we were asked if drinks were required. There were several waiters milling around getting under each others feet and who appeared not to know what they were doing. It would have been more efficient if tables were allocated a dedicated waiter and not have several other waiters all trying to to everything.Food was bland and cooked to what the establishment considers a British taste.Price initially appeared reasonable but the check was anything but - a table of three with three beers, two red wines, two starters, three mains, one rice, nan bread and one coffee came to £70.85 (this included a 10% service charge which was printed in a very small font, virtually unreadable and totally unacceptable. Tips should be given if service is good and not compulsively added irrespective of the standard of service). We will NOT be returning patrons as we consider this 'Indian' a rip off.

4 of us visited on a Saturday night. The food was excellent - freshly cooked with just the right amount of spice. Service however left so much to be desired. 20 minutes till our drinks order was taken, another 15 until they asked about food. Two standout moments.1. A waiter dumping a pile of cutlery in the middle of the table and then we watched whilst he arranged 8t into place settings. 2. Another waiter handing me a boiling hot plate. He didn't warn me it was hot and this could have caused an injury to someone with sensitive skin. When I challenged him on this he told me it was hardly warm.Such a shame our evening was spoilt by poor service - even the free liqueurs didn't really make up for it.

We love to go out to restaurants in London and this is our absolute favourite; especially our son who used to be a difficult eater but has been going there since he was two, as it was one of the few foods he would actually eat. We love the food here and the staff are great fun - even reading their response to a review on here had us laughing our heads off. This is a humble looking restaurant but always packed any night of the week - for good reason. One of the best kept secrets in London.

We asked to receive our food quite promptly because we did not have too much time to dwell, nevertheless the service was friendly and they understood that we had to leave relatively soon. The atmosphere was pleasant and one typical of an Indian restaurant. The food was delightful with plenty of flavour and spice and satisfied every palette. I would definitely return and recommend however the only criticism I have is that the space on the table isn't sufficient and I felt quite cramped next to my friend sitting next to me at dinner.

Had dinner here with 2 colleagues and was my first visit, both of them had been before. The food was fresh and very well prepared. I asked the waiter to recommend a main course and i had tandoori chicken chunks topped with Keema mince lamb, medium spice bit you can have it hotter. Never seen it on a menu before , very nice! Good value and the place was spotlessly clean and all the waiting staff very well presented and polite. Would recommend the restaurant, very good all round experience.

We had not been here for a while but the waiters remembered us and made us so welcome. Elvis was our waiter and he was so helpful and visited us throughout the meal to ensure that everything was OK. Yes it is old style but we all loved the familiar tastes. Well cooked tikka and each choice was just great. We visit many Indian restaurants but this ranks amongst the best.

This is s dying trade as people don't seem to want to become chefs anymore. There are less and less of these places left. This one is at second last stop of Jubilee line so takes about 30 mins from Bond St station. It's well worth it. Food is wonderful. Bhana, samosas, tandoori and much more. Indian food is part of the culture and attraction of London so I hope all of these places don't close as so many have already.

Booked here last minute during our stay in Edgeware. The restaurant was very busy but there were plenty of staff on duty. The menu has a good range of the usual Indian dishes and some with Cannons tandoori's own slant on them.Following popadoms to start we had the cannons special chicken tikka with minced beef and the chicken dhansak. We shared a pilau rice and delicious PeshawarI naan. The meal was very tasty and portion sizes were good.following an ice cream which we shared, we were given two drinks of our choice on the house.a nice touch to finish.Overall a lovely meal which could have been spoiled by a large table of women who appeared reluctant to pay their bill but the staff had great patience in securing a satisfactory outcome.

We went to Cannons Tandoori for dinner mid-week- our first time. The restaurant was busy. On first appearances we thought that the restaurant is very small but looks can be deceiving- as we soon found out! The restaurant goes back quite a way and has lots of space. The food we ordered arrived promptly and was delicious. The people working at the restaurant were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely go back.

I had hosted a B'Day Party for my Son. While I wasn't happy with the arrangements done and what restaurant had promised me to deliver but what was more frustrating that I was over-billed. At the time of payment, the cashier told me that their till-machine is not working and hence just did the total on the calculator, which was incorrect. Since, I didn't had the receipt, I didn't realize that I ended-up paying about 15% - 20% extra money and realized only after I came back home. Since, then I have called hotel may times and sent them an e-mail as well but no response from their end. It's not a matter of 40 pounds that I paid extra but the intent and the courtesy demonstrated by the restaurant manager & staff. Disappointing when have a feeling that someone has tried to cheat you...may be unintentional but not correcting their mistake

The service was excellent. The food was great. We asked for mild food and they made it just right. We also got some extra compliments of the restaurant. Really liked it. Will definitely recommend it.

We were on our way to the British Museum and stopped in for lunch. Admit we haven't had Indian cuisine for many years but heard that London had good Indian restaurants and thought that we try one. This was not the one. We had their curry, my wife the chicken and I the lamb and with rice. If we were not famished we would have walked out. We eat a different kind of curry but this was just not in our flavor zone at all. Because of the curry we decided not to try anything else and just paid and left.
