Canalside Grill and Bar in Wolverhampton

Really enjoyed my recent visit here, shared a mix grill, curry and bread with a friend and we both loved it. Reasonably priced too. Only downside to the place is the men's toilet, it was rather dirty when I went and the hand dryer seemed to have mould or dirt in it.

Food was ok, but had much better in the past here. No heating on asked why and they said it was on so sat in coat's eating our meals

Food was nice I've had better but I ate it all so I guess that counts for something..lol.. service was ok the young boy behind the bar was excellent.. great bar skills and served the food as quick as he could get it from the kitchen.. well done to him for dealing with a party of 20... Kitchen was slow possibly due to the staff was missing.. Atmosphere was great we made it our own .. we was the only ones in the building.. they had music in the back ground which was great.. In the end we had a lovely time....

Placed my food order over the phone, very friendly and helpful staff, food was picked up 15 minutes later. Last twice I've ordered slight errors with the picked up food, not enough to complain but makes me think that standards are slipping while prices are on the rise. Also I appreciate looks aren't as important for take away food but the halloumi burgers look very unappetising when received as a take away order. I'd hope they'd look better if I ordered and was served them in the restaurant. Hopefully just a blip and will pick up.

There is also a good selection for veggies too. Good size portions of food and Rav and all of the staff are always friendly, helpful and make us feel welcome. You will not regret eating here.

Amazing food good value and service

This was our first time here and it was amazing. The mix grill is amazing and the staff are super friendly and attentive. Will definitely be coming here again.

Don't think the currys me and my partner had last was worth the money at all £11 just for curry and it was just s small portion well disappointed with rice and bread £37 won't be doing it again

It is busy and loud on a Saturday night as expected. It’s a small space so hard to get a quiet space. The staff were working hard and were friendly as always! I was disappointed that the tandoori chicken wrap hadn’t been in the tandoor oven. The fragrant flavours were there but the charcoal Smokey flavour wasn’t so it tasted sweet bland. Not sure what happened there. Chicken was white as it it had been in a normal uk oven. The rest of the food was all good.

We went here as a family for Valentine’s Day as it was an important anniversary for a loved one we had recently lost. To say the experience ruined it is an understatement! We were told went we got there that they weren’t serving mixed grills only to see about 2 and half hours later, the owners were being serving mixed grills. I mean telling the customers it’s not available and then bringing out platters in front of everyone to see they’re bare faced lied is just rude on another level! The serving staff were friendly but just clueless and ignore you when walking past trying to get their attention! We finally got our food at 9 after being there from 7! Our kids were so hungry we had to ask them to bring the chips out asap just so we could give them something to eat! We should have just gone to Maccies than this place, id rather great service and okay food but this grill disappointed on every level! The price paid for the food was just extortionate, not worth it! Never returning!!!

We went here as a family with children and have left so gobsmaked at this place. You can’t even call it a “Bar & Grill” as they don’t look up at you when you’re standing at the bar waiting to be served and as soon as we sat down, they told us they were not serving mix grills - WHAT? We pre-booked our table, so surely if something was wrong, like staffing etc, they should have called and told us ahead of our visit as this is the main thing you would order at a place like this. Nevertheless, we arrive at 7:15 waiting to be served, didnt get any service which was surprising as they didn’t seem busy. After being ignored at the bar, staff telling us they would come in 5 minutes and didn’t, we seen one of the managers and asked him to get served if possible. He was so snobby, just said yeh yeh okay and carried on chatting with his friends. It was baffling. Even after this; we kept asking for someone to take our order and finally did. We got our food at 9:10! Disgraceful! The food wasn’t even nice, naans were about the best thing as they were soft, but the butter chicken was flavourless and the keema was just awful! I don’t even think it was meat, looked and tasted like quorn. We were so dissapointed at wasting £90, we actually wished we had gone to a drive through and took our food home!

Went for a valentines meal, got a complimentary glass of champagne 🍾! The food was amazing, it was our first time there and certainly not the last. The cocktails were also really good and would highly recommend 😇. The chicken tikka wrap in naan bread was brilliant and so was the chicken balti

Came across this place on insta and thought we would give it a go as the posts looked really good. We ordered a Veg Thaali and some tandoori prawns. The waiter asked if we would like our prawns as a starter or main, to which I replied, with our mains. After an hour of waiting for food (it was not busy at all, around 15 guests max) we received burnt thick naan breads, watery tasteless curry with uncooked paneer chunks and unseasoned chips and no prawns in sight! Part of our thaali included halloumi, samosas and springs rolls (which is what my wife was dying to eat) little did we know they were all going to be served soggy and covered in a sticky sauce, this was not written anywhere on the menu. We ate about under half of our food and left the remaining and also asked if our order of prawns could be cancelled as they still hadn’t been served! We also overheard another customer say they had been waiting for an hour for their takeaway! A pint of coke of draft was priced £4.50 which is a little steep for a local bar and grill. To give it some credit, the two waiting staff were very friendly and were trying their hardest to ensure customers were kept happy. This place has great potential, it’s set in a lovely location with quirky decor…it just requires a talented chef to join their kitchen.

What a fantastic Valentine’s Day meal. Vicci was presented with a complimentary glass of Prosecco upon entrance, staff were great, always on hand but not intrusive. We opted for the thali to share, very well put together, the curries were tender, full of flavour and well balanced. Flame grilled chicken wings, shish, tikka chicken, salad… all wonderful. Lovely bottle of Prosecco, good lager and relaxed atmosphere. Great value too, looking forward to coming back already.

Very disappointed with our valentines meal……Was not told there would be no mixed grills being served until we sat down and decided we wanted a mixed grill. There was no warning when booking or even on the reminder email. A real shame. The service wasn’t brilliant. Waiters were clueless on what drinks they had. There was no drinks menu just a board with about five cocktails on. When I did pick a cocktail off this board they didn’t have it. The waiters didn’t know what drinks they even served. Just very disappointed with our experience as we visited about a year ago and the standards were a lot higher and we had a great experience and really enjoyed our mixed grill. The curry we did decide to have was nice however cost a lot more than we planned on spending. We couldn’t wait to get out of the restaurant. Really did ruin our valentines experience.

Went to the Canalside Bar and Grill. 10/10 for facilities. 10/10 for friendly staff. 10/10 for setting. The food was a little more on the pricey side. Yet i suppose the surrounding area suits. You get what you pay for. A little bit cold when we turned up. A little bit empty too. Its not my usual but i would go again. Ps super clean Edit 2nd time there. So how does a place go from a 3 star place to a 1 star. Well for a start... Had to go to the bar only to be told wait at the table for service which took 25 minutes for a drink. A full glass would be appreciated. When trying to order the mix grills, they were off the menu even though someone else came in after us and had one?! Even the staff who said no we can't said oh we must be serving them now? Ordered mains and food took 2 hours plus to come to the table. They were just about average for quality and taste. Other points were. Service was terrible. The bar man couldn't care. Manager had a blasè attitude. He sat chilling with his friends knowing we asked for service numerous amounts of times. Good points were... It was warmer inside this time. Cleanliness was still good. Atmosphere was good. It was Valentines day. Sadly a poor one. We don't want a discount we want better service. Night out with friends and had a great meal...we had a take out at the end of the night for a partner that had to babysit so had missed out. Apparently this was not so good ...I'm hoping this was a one off as all our meals in restaurant were good

By far the worst “Indian” food I had ever had. Recommend by friend. Came with parents. Disgusting lamb chops and mains. Smelt of a sickly pub. Just don’t.

We’ve been here a few times for food, came again on Saturday for drinks. Love this place, staff are friendly, love the atmosphere, so cosy.

First visit and food was spot on we really enjoyed it best weve had in a while However it was cold inside the pub heating needed to be turned up Otherwise highly recommended

All you can eat buffet put on for a business networking event! Endless Indian classics offered and the portions just kept coming! Great selection of beers on the line up and left both stuffed and merry :)

Unfriendly welcome, the place was virtually empty. Food was disgusting, greasy, flavourless, chips were cold, poppadoms swimming in oil and so was the fish pakora. When my daughter complained she was just told sorry!! Avoid, avoid, avoid

bar staff not serving drinks correctly, way too much ice. poor choice of cocktails. ordered Indian food , came all together with poppadoms and main meal. Two bottles of sauce, no chutneys as advertised. They did seem busy though. maybe we're just unlucky Lady who served . gave the ladies a free drink. like water again as too much ice. 😒

I have now eaten a few times now at Canalside. Each time, the food has been fantastic, the atmosphere very welcoming and the team were very attentive. I would like to thank Rav and the rest of his team at Canalside for a great experience. Highly recommended.

Decent enough, greeted by a friendly waitress. A long wait for food, 45 minutes. Pakora was missing from veggie mix grill when it did turn up. Indian wrap was nice, spicy chips good too. We wouldn’t rush back, but ok as a one off.

Extremely tasty food which we all enjoyed, and you get plenty of it , but service was very slow. Will definitely return again though as it was a Saturday night and the place was packed 👍🏻

Went for a meal with my mom and sister this evening, and it did not disappoint l, the cocktails were the best I’ve had in ages, and they were 2 for £12 which I think is really good, and the food was next level I had the mini mixed grill and there was loads On there couldn’t eat all of it, full of flavour the others had a wrap and a curry which again were both delicious Definitely recommended, Also staff were very friendly

I've been to the canalside bar and grill numerous times but not since the launch of the new menu. I ordered the large mixed grill with naan for £20. I have to say it was probably the best mixed grill I have ever eaten. The lamb chops and fish pakora were delicious in particular, but couldn't fault anything. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting authentic, delicious Indian food.

I live outside the area and was visiting some family members, so one of them chose the venue. From the outside it was not very impressive but inside it was interesting. Much more importantly, we were greeted immediately and politely and throughout the evening the service was very friendly and helpful from everyone we met. The menu was informative with plenty of choice and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. What really made our experience unique was that when I went to pay the bill and told the owner how much I wanted to add as a service charge he replied 'I can't take that amount just pay the bill amount.' Despite further discussions that's all he would take and he ended up with 'Just come back again and recommend us to your friends'. A truly unique experience in my whole lifetime!

Enjoyed a meal with friends here. Seating outside is pretty rickety, but the food was good.

Been twice now and on both occasions we have enjoyed our meals, very filling hot and tasty. if I had to be picky I would say the curries are a tad expensive but they are nice. the wine is lovely, cocktails gorgeous especially sat next to the canal in sunset you could pretend you are at cafe mambo lol. The staff always seem polite and helpful when questioned. Toilets clean, can't grumble really.

Booked the place for my Birthday and wetting the baby's head. Booked in advance for table of 15 did say it could possibly be 20, to which they wanted a £50 deposit on the phone. So I said I'd give £40. Guy said is it all lads where I said yes and wanted to make sure we don't get loud and that it is not jack's bar which I found quite judgmental. Anyway turn up to the venue and when they knew we were a big group we had two tables not together but split up by the door, when most of the place was practically empty. Food that came out was ok abit over priced but not all that, when I had practically half a curry tipped all over my jeans, yes the waiter was apologetic and said she would get the group a free round of drinks, so I said instead of a round of drinks just do a bottle of vodka. So as I went to the bathroom to clean myself up the guy at the bar goes I'll pay for your dry cleaning or get you a drink of your choice. Which contradicts what the waiter said, I wasn't in the mood to argue so I just had the drink although my Boss jeans are bloody ruined. We had a few vegiterians in the group and 1 vegan. Not much selection for vegans, and for the vegiterians he specifically went to the bar to order to his and said he has a nut allergies where the bar star goes no nuts in the foods. So my brother had a veg curry to find something was not right as he was getting an itchy throat and feeling short of breath to find some nuts in his mouth. Looked at the allergy chart supplied and then we question the bar staff who then said ohh there might be traces of nuts not that bothered to be fair while my brother's saying I think I need to get to a chemist and get an injection pen as he didn't have one on him. No consideration at the end asking if all was ok etc. As we had a tab, we should have checked it to be fair but we didn't £500, where I had to mention I already paid £40.00 so that needed reducing of the bill. This should have been picked up strap ght away if you take deposits of people remember to deduct it of the final bill when asking for payment. Nice surroundings, foods ok, over priced, and now kinda been there done that and think we would have had a better time in Jacks Bar.

Food arrived cold, meat in the thali was cold not good as meat needs to be served hot, mixed grill was thankfully sizzling and hot, massal chips have a strange sweet sauce on them strange take on masala chips. chicken wings very bland lack of spice. best part the popadoms and curry. Those who don’t like spicy food then this place is ok staff are very polite and helpful . for the hard core chill mixed grill fans wolves has better places with more superior flavours.

Ok but wouldn’t return, I wanted a mild chicken curry, they said they only do one level of spice which is medium but it was too hot for me to eat so I left half of the meal. Texture of the samosas was good but the filling lacked taste. The popadoms were very hard it reminded me of if you leave them standing. I have ate a lot of curries and this was probably the worst Naan bread Iv ever had it was hard and brittle and just fell apart in to crumbs whilst trying to eat it. Windows were dirty and where I was sat there were cobwebs in the corners — off putting. Also was sat at the window and looking out towards the canal the tables outside the windows had ashtrays which were full of cigarette butts. Very off putting more attention to detail should be taken on the appearance of the restaurant. The waitress was very good personable and accommodating though. But I wouldn’t return to this restaurant for the reasons above.

A beautiful June evening sat by the canal. Superb food served from a fantastic menu. You really can’t go wrong here. Absolutely recommend.

The main thing which really annoyed me is they played Spotify ... BUT they couldn't even be bothered to pay for a premium subscription, like I do. So you listen to the music and THE ADVERTS it's about £12 a month !!! Can tell it's all done out really cheaply by the cheap toilets. The lady behind the bar was really friendly 😀

Excellent food in a lovely setting. It was my son’s birthday celebration at this restaurant. Very tasty, well cooked and excellently presented food. And very friendly staff. Thoroughly recommend.

Amazing! We've been here so many times, ate outside during covid, inside during the winter, always will keep coming back. The portions are so big, drinks always great value. Family friendly.

Lovely warm atmosphere, staff weird friendly and attentive and answered all of our questions with ease, the mixed grill was excellent and possible up there with the best I've had, the desi chicken curry was excellent hopefully will be back to try the pizzas!

The staff were very accommodating from the get go. Pleasant and warm greeting, efficient service with a smile. The food was cracking. The family mixed grill easily feeds 5 full grown adults. Good selection of mixed grill components, but the lamb chop stole the show. Naan and masala chips were also solid, but the masala chips lost the flavour when eaten alongside the mixed grill. Mains were all very good, however I'd not get the chilli chicken again - not a fan. But, each to their own. Overall, worth it!

Hi, I had a birthday party there and the whole experience was perfect. The food was tasty and the staff were really friendly, helpful and polite even though it was a busy Saturday night, the service was fast!! We could play our own music and decorate the room. The vibe was lively and exactly what u need for a birthday party and I would definitely recommend this place and the fact it has an outside seating would be perfect for the summer!!! This was our first visit and we absolutely loved it. We had a variety of meals between the 5 of us and everyone enjoyed their choices. The lamb was amazingly tender and so tasty. We will definitely return!

We had a table booked for a birthday celebration for the first here. I walked in and advised the manager there would be children in our booking only to be told to make sure they do not run around before we had even sat down and "I need you out by 6:30 pm". The time was fine as our table was booked from 3:30pm. My sister and I went to order the starters to then be told by the manager I need you out by 6pm now otherwise you are going to DO MY HEAD IN!!!! Food was average and staff serving us were friendly enough. We had family come up from London otherwise we would have left without eating! Would have preferred to spend my £400+ elsewhere! Will definitely not be going back there again!

Basically this place is excellent, me and my wife went for evening meal and could not fault it. The food is fantastic, it was hot and very tasty, had the mixed grill for 2 persons, more than enough food . The staff are very friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them…..we will be back very soon.

This is my second visit here so I thought I'd give it another go. The food here was excellent and very tasty,5 stars. !!! 👍 My complaint is the size of the balti dish and the portion within was very small in comparison to other Asian restaurants I've visited,and believe me that's a lot. I'd say it was less than half the size smaller. That applies to the portion of chips,very small,and it's an expensive meal for such a small portion/meal. The service is also very slow. Pros= Very nice tasty food. Cons=Slow service,small portions,not very cheap venue to eat at.

Drove past this place friday night looked very busy so thought we'd pop in , mangered to get a space on the car park. We were greeted by a friendly staff member, showed to a table, was told the food finishes at 10pm I said do we order drinks at the table or at the bar she said at the bar, we had a couple of drinks, the music was lively, but a bit loud, We didn't order any food so can't comment on that. The comments look good on the food, so going to need to go back a try the food there.

No faulting the quality of the food. I expected an upgrade to a ‘ normal Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant’ after looking at the menu and it’s prices online prior to our visit. No cloths on the tables, no beer mats or towels so the table looked a...

After a brilliant trip along the canal, we stopped for lunch. Good choice of GF meals at very reasonable prices. Sadly they didn't have their wonderful GF Carrott cake and they weren't sure if they would have it again. Shame

Went last night 4 of us, absolutely loved it. Food was great, nice atmosphere music was great. Nice friendly staff and to top it off if you can't eat all your food they put it in a box for you. Oh and the Naan's are the best, we will be back. Thank you.
