The Sunbeam in Wolverhampton

Terrible! Nearly an hour wait for main food. Sunday roast had dirty vegetables, you literally could pick up the mash potatoes and everything was stone cold. Meal looked nothing like the pictures on the menu/website. No check backs either. A 25 minute wait for one dessert! Staff look miserable too. Not a nice atmosphere. Wouldn’t recommend!

Fantastic, the food and drinks was lovely and the staff were all helpful and friendly, particular thanks to Beth who came to our table to put our desserts order through when there was a long queue at the bar. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back again.

I had a hospital appointment today and I was looking for somewhere to have breakfast before catching the bus to go to my appointment, The Sunbeam had just opened and I walked in, there weren’t too many customers in at the time and I was only a foot inside the doorway and one of the ladies behind the bar greeted me with a cheery good morning greeting, that was a lovely gesture, I had a quick look at the menu and decided on a vegetarian breakfast and then I was approached by a lovely pleasant young lady by the name of Beth, she was polite and friendly through my whole visit, she really is a credit to your company, I have to also mention Sean the chef, he cooked my breakfast beautifully, especially the veggie sausages, they looked fantastic, far better than I’ve ever managed to cook them at home, so good in fact that I had to check with Beth that they were actually veggie and not meat sausages. On the whole my visit (29/4/24) was a welcome and enjoyable one, I’d gladly recommend the pub to anyone, friendly welcome, polite staff and good food.

Food was quick speedy and very tasty. Waited a little longer than expected for drinks ordered on the app but it was very busy. All our servers went above and beyond today.

Conveniently located in Wolverhampton city centre, within walking distance of the bus, tram and train stations, and The Grand Theatre, The Sunbeam is perfectly placed for a drink and/or meal pre-show or whilst in transit around the area. The staff go the extra mile to make you welcome. As part of The Hungry Horse chain, you are sure of the usual high standard of food and surroundings. You are courteously greeted at the door by the security team, whose attitude is very reassuring and a welcome presence in any city centre setting in current times. My husband and I have called in for a meal on a few occasions over the last year or so, and have plans to revisit soon. Last night we dropped in for food on our way through the city, and received exceptionally good service from Beth, who, whilst working hard, clearing tables, and helping customers, still found time to offer and bring a coffee to us, at our table, and did it all with a smile. Well done to all the staff - keep up the good work.

I’ve been here several times now . My very favourite place to come. And they really do make the best burgers ever.Good value for money also the quantity I received The staff are wonderful and welcoming . I dealt with a young lady named Jodie she was an absolute delight so helpful and polite. Thanks again sunbeam.

Great pub with a great atmosphere. Big menu with a choice for everyone. Daily deals everyday including the weekend which is good. Food was delicious, and will definitely recommend to everyone.

Over an hour for food, everyone else's had arrived and had been eaten

Great spot for lunch, very lively too! Didn’t take long to receive our food and it tasted really great! I had the Mac and cheese with salad and garlic bread and it tasted great. Perfect portion for lunch. Our server Charlotte was very nice.

My friend and I were here for our fortnightly lunch before going to watch the Wolverhampton Wanderers match against West Ham. We both had the full english which were excellent meals, well cooked and plentiful. We were abely assisted by the lovely Beth, great to see her back after the birth of her child. Standard pub lunch. Prices are ok, food was ok.

I used to visit this pub quite often but hadn’t for a while so me and my daughter decided to pop in for a bite to eat. Tables were dirty even after they had been cleaned, with a sticky residue on the table, and crumbs all over the seats. Seating is looking tired and worn, with the leather peeling off the seating in the booths, food wasn’t great but edible. On the plus side, bar staff were happy and friendly, and the food did arrive quickly, waiting staff were also friendly.

Have eaten here twice now and have had hot, fresh food, decent portions and great service both times. Lovely, bright and friendly place.

Mum and I come here often, in fact most weeks. Whilst the staff are always super friendly, I can’t help but feel like I always have something to grumble about. We come here due to the convenience, but to be honest I’m starting to feel like we might find somewhere new. It’s just silly things really, like the kitchen staff blasting out their music whilst the pub music is playing - you can’t hear yourself talk when this happens. Then there’s the issue of hot drinks - they’re on, then off, they’re on if you pay at the bar, but not on the app, and so forth. There’s a huge difference in the price of a full English breakfast during the breakfast shift and the evening shift - I get it needs to be different, but it’s almost double the price on an evening and not even worth it at almost £10 for 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 slice of toast, a spoonful of beans, 3 tiny mushrooms, 2 hash-browns and 2 bacon. On a Sunday I appreciate it’s busy, but every time we come in we arrive to tables full of peas, mash and empty drinks glasses. We almost always have to clean the table ourselves if not clear it. There are loads of other niggles I have, some of which aren’t the pubs fault, like screaming kids, but all in all I’m getting a bit fed up with the mediocre experience. Like I said already, this isn’t reflective of the in-person customer service the staff provide - they are always super friendly and helpful.

Enjoyed a family meal here the other day and i could not fault it. The staff were very helpful and welcoming.

Went here today for my birthday meal, the food was excellent! 👌🏼 Sticky Toffee Pudding was soooooo yummy. Our server, Beth was amazing as well. Thanks for making a good day great!

Myself and partner went for a pre theatre meal and I have never experienced such diabolical food in my life paid for 2extra large Sunday roasts and they came looking like a child portion and it never looked anything like the picture on the menu and also it was stone cold and the meat was dry as straw and wafer thin the type of thing in a supermarket packet .sent it back and it came back after being in the microwave.again complained and decided to have something else new York chicken came out with 2 small bits of chicken breast and a dollop of BBQ sauce and some fries and peas the only edible thing was the fries the chicken was absolutely dry.as the saying goes once bitten twice shy.

Popped into Sunbeam yesterday for a meal before going to The Halls. It was very busy but we managed to grab a table. We ordered food, 4 main meals and 4 drinks. It cost less than a tenner each which was amazing value. Our meals came very quick to say it was busy. The meals were very enjoyable. Thank you to our server Beth who was very friendly and very smiley which makes a difference! A great experience had by us all. Will definitely be going again. Thank you.

Good food, OK prices but drinks expensive.

So disappointed with food here ordered 2 meals a jacket potato and chicken wrap. jacket potato was so small with a small pot of beans no salad which we have had before wrap was so dry small amount of salad but no dressing very disappointing we spoke to member of staff and they said the menu had changed and unfortunately that's what they were told to serve staff here are really good shame about the food

Ordered the mexican pasta salad, not only did it smell rotten, they've added frozen salmon into it. Wouldn't give it my dog. Avoid.

Nice friendly service and good food. Clean and tidy restaurant, no sticky carpets like other chains. Would recommend as not bad value.

Just got back from having a great meal with the wife served by very helpful and friendly staff definitely will go again soon served by Stacey and food by chefs Sean and James.

Thursday night super sharer shared. Had mushrooms for starters and super share mini burgers and a side of onion rings. Plenty enough food to feed two adults. Could have left the onion rings off the order if I’m honest. They were tasty though.

A good pub in the centre of Wolverhampton, close to the railway station and Metro stops. I've called in on several occasions; a nice atmosphere, friendly and welcoming. Great bar staff too. I've not eaten here hence the four stars. Recommended.

First time in the Sunbeam and I must say we were very impressed!! Service at the bar and the waitress who brought our meals were brilliant. Highly reccomend the food which was excellent value for money!!

The food was very good, i had the sea bass, reasonably priced. The toilets need a thorough clean. The ladies toilet could do with bleach on the stains all over the toilet I heard the mens toilet had toilet tissue all over the floor.

Popped in to feed the kids before the match today. Stood 35 mins at the bar to be ignored by Thomas. Appalling service infact none at all! I'm a regular visitor of hungry horse pubs. This is not what I expected. Walked out in the end was told to come here instead of moon under the water! Definitely not do not recommend

Went for a meal on Tuesday. With my mom ,service was brilliant, staff outstanding food very poor , my mom had fish and chips which cost 9.95 there was only a few chips on plate and most of them where over cooked .very disappointed. Its a shame the food wasn't has good has the staff . And atmosphere in the venue .

Chair was soaking wet!!!my elderly sister sat on it which left her uncomfortable for the rest of the night

First time in there, security was friendly, bar staff was equally friendly and cheery. Prices were reasonable and we had a very good night. Hopefully to try the chocolate fudge cake. Will be visiting again on our return trip to wolves.

Had a Sunday Roast, paid extra for larger meal. It was very nice and highly recommended, food ordered from bar and delivered as ordered. It was a Sunday and was fairly quiet, however plates cleared away very quickly and I was in good company so all round good experience.

Stopped for lunch, excellent choice on the menu at a good price. All the staff and Charlotte (didn't get the others names) were very friendly and cheerful, excellent service.

Wasn’t the best of foods had a mix grill and the chicken was to dry man and couldn’t cut in to it probably man. I asked for a medium rare steak and didn’t come medium rare plus I was supposed to have onion rings and didn’t have any, did ask the women if I could get them still a no show so. I come here quite regularly but had a month's break as I'm saving up for a holiday. It was a busy night for January tonight so I expected a wait and was in no rush. There was a lovely lady called Charlotte who was the waitress for our side. She made me feel welcome right away making eye contact and smiling. While I enjoyed reading the football news on my phone and a pint. I waited and waited, trying not to make it seem like I was being impatient so I didn't make eye contact with her again. After a while she came out with my meal and she said the chef apologised for it being so long and said he joked about having to go and catch it himself. Which was great I like banter like that it's exactly how it should be nice and relaxed. I will admit I was very hungry but the mexican pasta salad was absolutely lovely, lots of flavour and the salmon was beautiful melt in your mouth. This was very much worth the wait. I told Charlotte to give the chef my compliments and also said how good she was as well. Made for a very lovely evening after a long day at work, thank you guys and well done 🙂

We visited on a quiet January evening as a pre-theatre meal. The staff were uninviting, took our order for food, as we were leaving the bar a customer complained she had been waiting a long time for food, and was abruptly told there would be a 45 minute wait for food, despite the restaurant being pretty much empty. We asked if that applied to all food and was abruptly told “well yes” we returned to our table and discussed the impact that the long time might take on our evening. Deciding it was going to be better to cancel and refund our order at the bar we were told “oh it’s going to be ready in about 10 minutes” In reality we waited 50 minutes for our order, which was a lasagne and a pie. The lasagne was dry, crusty and appeared to have waited under a heat lamp for some time. When a guy checked on us we told him about the food and he offered to have it remade, we told him we didn’t have time and he instantly refunded it, he looked completely embarrassed and appeared to be the only member of staff who really cared that night. The drinks were ok, but I’d never return or recommend this as a location to grab food on the way to see a show

This is now my 4th visit. This is becoming my favourite place to eat. I came in over the Christmas period and I had the steak. It was excellent. Hats off to the chef I then tried the cheesecake it really was the best I had tasted. The atmosphere was just so nice and the staff were so lovely and helpful and friendly. Will be making more regular visits as I can’t think of a better place to eat.

Nice location, comfortable seating, and pretty nice atmosphere. Service was pleasant. Drinks were not great however.Guinness was watery and the lager didn't taste fresh. Ordered some chips and nachos - chips were ok. Nachos must be the worst I have ever had. It was cold - cold plate, cold nachos, and cold cheese. The sour cream and guacamole looked as if they were thrown on. It's almost as if these were made for an order but not sent out and was left in the fridge, then taken out for me. Very disappointing. My previous experiences with drinks have been good. I have never ordered food before. I would suggest that they work on making the 'simple' dishes like nachos presentable and tasty. It's almost criminal to make something easy like this so bad.

Pleasant enough with very helpful staff (and generous food, clearly) but in typical Greene King style, no decent offering on the real ale/craft beer side. Such a disappointment to arrive, discover it's a Greene King pub and be left with lager or Guinness at best. Not everyone likes GK IPA or Abbot - I know that's hard to believe Greene King (!) but too many people say the same. You are losing business and I don't think the brains in the GK business really give a hoot.

Great staff and selection on drinks

Booked a table, arrived early but no problem. Ordered from our table . Food came out within a good time and it was lovely. Charlotte our waitress was so lovely. Not pushy at all and very pleasant. We felt like we were wanted and appreciated.

It was very busy so took 45 minutes for food. Two of us had the sea bass and it was a pleasant surprise that the portion sizes was good plus it all tasted lovely. Shame the Abbot ale wasn’t available. Mens toilets quite bad.

It’s one of the most expensive pubs in the city centre for drinks the lych gate and the George Wallis Is cheaper

It's cheap & nasty. The tables are sticky, the chairs are worn out. But it seems very popular. Make what you want of that!

We was so looking forward to our meal We ordered extra large christmas dinner What was good about this nothing food was just warm roast potatoes was over cook and only warm Yorkshire pudding was disgusting not even crispy veg not nice at all the...

Visited on a Saturday at around 7pm and stayed for 2 hours. Three of us had meals with sides and about 6 drinks each. No staff cleared the table before we sat down, leaving us with a 'sticky' table. The table had glasses from the previous customers still there when we left with the addition of all of our empty plates and glasses. There had been a leak in the gents toilet. Signs on the floor telling you about the leak, but no attempt to clean it. There was toilet tissue or paper towels trailing out of the ladies toilet which nobody attempted to clean up. The staff were actively walking around the paper, but didn't clear it up.

Hi l don't know what happened to this place already enjoyed it before we had a Sunday lunch a few weeks ago it was really bad not much on plate it was cold not good to look at couldn't eat it had money refunded also the vodka you are using isn't very good and the diet coke is flat please get it sorted

Hard "Meh" Disappointing portions, too few sides (hardly any chips) and very, very slow service. Their is little atmosphere. And less sense of urgency. A few years ago things were much better but if you have the option I'd look elsewhere if you want anything...

Food wasn't brilliant. I asked for the 12oz rump steak medium-rare and it arrived still grazing (see photo). Granted the manager and staff couldn't resolve this issue quick enough, but the whole issue put me off eating. They made a whole meal fresh for me in a timely manner so I can't complain about the service or staff for a moment, however, the new steak came and it was rather tasteless and chewy. My mother ordered the lasagna and it was lukewarm at best after waiting 35 minutes for the food to arrive. I would've given this 4 stars but as I've said it's hard to maintain an appetite after being served something raw.

Came on the 13th December for a meal. The food was very good as was the service. The atmosphere was very good and staff very obliging. Me and my friend will definitely be returning.

Nice selection of food bit pricey but lots of deals. We did find an insect in our food but all that was offered was a replacement. Good location near the train and bus station.

Cheap and enjoyable. Polite staff

No complaints about the basic, unfussy food, which was fine and served quickly. Surroundings seem a bit worn out. The area where we sat wasn't very clean (food spills on the carpet). Worst was the female toilets, which were reportedly disgracefully dirty.

First and probably the last visit here. Were popped in whilst up town and whilst the venue is fairly large and bright, there seemed to be little atmosphere. There were glasses remaining on empty tables and there was no rush to removed these glasses or...

A really nice place to visit, every day a special promotion on. The Burgers we had were really nice. Didn't have to wait to long for ordering as well as for the food. Prices are really good value, food and wine. Will visit again.

Decided to try the fishless fingers in a wrap, which made a nice change!!, shame there wasn't any hot drinks, I miss my usual Americano coffee!!
