Mick is always on hand to aid you in either the selection of his extensive coffee list, or his ample breakfast and lunch menu. A warm welcome is always present with his staff as well. In summer (or whenever the sun decides to shine) he'll have his lovely deck chairs out for punters to enjoy the view on the canal.

A little Jem of a cafe. Found it on the Leeds and Liverpool canal on a narrow boat. So glad we stopped and we were not disappointed. Don't know how they do it for the price. Thanks a million.

A lovely, quirky little cafe, with its entrance reached from the canal towpath. Indoor and outdoor seating. Very good value lunches served. Currently only open from 10am to 2pm. We sometimes call there for a bacon and egg butty when on a canal walk and enjoy sitting outside and watching the ducks, moorhens and swans glide past. The owners are very pleasant and friendly and have lots of regular customers.

We come from Wales and were visiting a lot of family in Blackburn, My partner and I have a 2 year old child and were looking for a nice quiet place to have some breakfast. We spotted this Cafe on the maps and decided to give it a go! Which infact was the BEST choice we made! The lady who was serving was extremely polite and so was the Gentleman serving there also! We had a gorgeous full english breakfast and a cheese toastie with a childs meal and didnt have to wait long at all for it all to served up!! They gave us a massive warm welcoming and their blue mountain jamaican coffee is to die for! What a wonderful experience for us as a family.. so we just had to go again the next day!! They even remembered our child’s name and were very pleased we came again, it just felt like home! The food was fantastic and can’t thank you guys enough for your service! We will 100% be coming there again the next time we come down! Thank you so much for this fabulous experience in the wonderful cafe. The views are fantastic from outside and we had a lovely walk down the Canal after breakfast, cheap food and fantastic company! Couldnt be more helpful for us!

Walked past this Café many times and never gone in. Went in today and was really impressed. A delicious slice of homemade cake and selection of interesting Coffees. I had the Vietmames one which was lovely. It was great today sat in the sun, however I could imagine it would be cosy in winter with the woodburner heating the place. Do not go expecting posh, but rather homely and friendly, and superb value, and you will enjoy.

We’ve been to this little gem of a cafe twice and came away, on both occasions, very well impressed! As the name says it’s tucked right by the canal in Rishton and serves up lovely food, cakes, teas and coffees. They serve a variety of the latter and on our last visit someone had a coffee made with beans from Peru (as a non coffee drinker I didn’t know Peru was big in the coffee world!). I sampled the home made lemon drizzle cake and when it came it was more of a slab than a slice! It was delicious! Even though it was summer the weather was so British like the log burner was lit and that helped provide the homely, cosy atmosphere that we like. The proprietors were very friendly and welcoming as well as being open to a friendly chat. The cafe also serves main meals and so we will return there soon to sample them.

Fantastic home cooked food with lovely friendly couple who own it. The food menu is generous with a wide variety of food and different coffees. They have specials on daily. In winter there is a log fire inside to keep warm and in summer it’s a real sun trap on the canal with outdoor seating. Everyone should try this at least once it doesn’t disappoint and I bet you’ll go back!

Cycling from Liverpool to Bingley and we found this just when we needed a cup of tea on day two. But it turned out they had a choice of freshly ground coffees (Tanzanian, Columbian, etc). Amazing. And as others have said really friendly with lots of frequent visit locals.

We called into Canal View Cafe during a walk along the Leeds-Liverpool canal. It's really convenient for this as you can walk straight in from the towpath. The place isn't sophisticated and doesn't set out to be so. It is friendly and honest. A great deal of thought has gone into the offering and the place is nicely decorated and very clean. The food is wholesome and tasty. It's also excellent value for money with some nice little touches such as a complimentary biscuit with our tea (a proper custard cream not some fancy little 'coffee' type affair!). The menu is relatively simple but quite extensive. We had the beef broth and chilli con carne along with two pots of tea (2 to 3 good mug fills each). Both meals tasted great and served to warm us up and prepare us for the second half of our walk. If you're walking on the canal, give Canal View Cafe a visit.

Walking the Leeds/Liverpool Canal towpath in heavy rain. We came off at Rishton for a hot drink. The owner took us straight to the room downstairs where there was a log fire. We had a sausage sandwich and mug of tea. Good food and amazing value! The owners made us so very welcome, telling us that we could have come in straight from the towpath. He even came to the door with us as we left and wished us well for the rest of our journey. Just before Bridge 108A - not to be missed. Menu was varied too with plenty of more substantial dishes available.

We used this café as our turnaround point when walking from Church to Rishton and back. What a great little place. The part we were in was downstairs right on the towpath which at first glance looks a bit like an outhouse. They have a really good menu; we were there for breakfast and both of us had a bacon and egg butty and a cup of coffee - total price £6.40 and tasted delicious. Friendly staff and dog friendly.

Situated in a lovely setting on the canal in Rishton the cafe has an open fire downstairs which is lovely and warm in winter, during the summer you can choose to sit outside - it's a real suntrap. The food is all homemade and they do some great specials - italian, chinese, etc. They are currently renovating the upstairs area so don't be fooled into thinking the cafe is closed - you just need to enter via the canal entrance!

My friends and I pre-booked the Christmas lunch menu. You could choose 1, 2 or 3 courses and each course had 3 option's to choose from. We all of course choose the 3 course option and it takes a while to decide because everything sounds really good. We arrive and the atmosphere was so lovely, it was full and although the cafe is small it didn't not feel over crowded. People are talking and Christmas songs are playing quietly in the background. Not everyone was having the Christmas menu as this had to be pre booked in advance. I had the prawn cocktail to start and it was lovely fresh and just the right size I'd say for a starter. My friends had different starters but we all had empty plates, so I'd day it was good. Then we all had the turkey dinner which was yummy and wow big. It had plenty of turkey, all the trimming and the pigs in blankets could quite possibly be the nicest I've ever tasted. For pudding, 2 of our group had Christmas pudding and one had the cheese board. Again all empty plates at the end and some very happy ladies. The turkey dinner was so big, I was unable to finish the whole plate, I was aware I still and Christmas pudding to come and I didn't want to miss that. I asked if I could take what I left home and the lovely waitress happily accepted my request and later returned with a takeaway box containing my surplus food. I asked if I could also have a cheese board to take home which again was no trouble and the team happily provided the cheese board in a takeaway box. All the staff were polite, friendly and happy to help. The atmosphere was kind and had a cosy community feeling like everyone was welcome. I could go on but all in all it was a lovely afternoon with friends, at a difficult time of year. Yes I said it, Christmas is not my favourite time of year, but today felt chrismassy, but not over baring. The kind warm atmosphere made me feel good. Thank you team Ri-an, I will be back and spreading the word.
