Excellent cafe for lunch, coffee and fresh baguettes. Wish the food was available on a delivery service.

As far as I know the decor has never changed in all the time I've lived in Plymouth and therefore could do with a long overdue makeover, but can't fault the coffee, muffins and friendly service.

An absolute gem. Love the muffins. They are one of a kind and you don't get them anywhere else. it's affordable ,tasty and filling. They also have a range of baguettes, bagels ,jacked potatoes and really hot coffees. Worth a visit. Recommendations: The double chocolate is a classic. I LOVE the strawberry and white chocolate. I have so many favourites and I cant choose!!!!

I love this place. The muffins are 'to die for', nice coffee & friendly staff. I last visited in August & all was great. The reason for a measly 2 stars is based on today. Despite it still saying on the website they are open from 8.30am the whole place was closed. Please update your website and put a notice on the door/window stating what the opening hours are now. You must be losing business as it looks as if the cafe has closed down completely.

Three steps up from the pavement. Smiley lady pops up from under the counter. I think that most people go in for the muffins, as she wanted to give me a tray until I convinced her I was just after coffee ( don't really like cakey things) Best espresso in town says the sign outside. Well, it was pleasant enough, but I am pretty sure that it wasn't espresso. Americano, sure. But far too much water for an espresso. Is it possible that she misheard me, or got confused because I didn't want a muffin? Sat outside in the shade and watched the world go by, which was nice.

The best muffins hands down. I love Canada, I enjoyed their muffins. This place has got it down. I hadn't been to Canadian muffin in maybe 2 decades. Just had a muffin......amazing!!!! Warm, full of raspberries. A total delight. Lady at counter was sweet and friendly. Will be back. I hope they still do steamed Almond milk from decades ago!!

Muffin was ok, but not as good as I expected for a specialist cafe. Coffee was undrinkable though, and staff were not very attentive

I guess I would describe this place as average. Nothing that makes it unique, just another cafe with no major selling point. Every thing was just OK.

Great value and delicious muffins. The staff were very friendly and accommodating even with a two year old having a minor breakdown.

I can't speak for the food as I haven't had any, but the takeaway coffees (cappuccinos) I ordered today were, quite honestly, the worst I've encountered. I'm not sure how to describe the taste and texture; very watery, sort of like hot, stale water and quite bitter. It's almost like they used the same coffee grounds for the last handful of customers. If it's not that, I feel like you'd really need to put some effort in somewhere to make coffees that terrible. The place looked nice inside (everything in Plymouth town center looks dreary on the outside), the server was friendly, that's the only reason I've given 2 stars. Based on the coffee alone it's scarcely worth a rating.

A quiet friendly little cafe close to the uni, train station, coach station, serving excellent muffins, coffee and tasty light bites such as Bagels and Baguettes. Indoor and outdoor seating. A pleasant surprise for those not so keen on the fast food mainstream outlets

We loved this place The muffins are super tasty 😋 and the coffee is really hot. We sat by the window and it gives you a nice view to the city and fresh trees. The best part is the price all of this for just 8 pounds.

This place has its faults; it looks very tired and in need of some updating. BUT, and this is a very big but, the muffins are outstanding, and the coffee is very, very good. Have been enjoying the muffins here for 20 years - if you have not tried it - ignore the decor and give it a go!!

I had a delocious lunch at the Canadian Muffin Company. They had a range of light lunches on offer at a reasonable price which were advertised on specials boards in the cafe. The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful. My lunch - a brie and pear wholemeal seeded bagel - was absolutely delicious. I ate it outside on their seating, which is handily placed under some trees for shade and enjoyed the glorious summer sunshine. Prices were about what I would expect. £4 for a bagel, £4.40 for a bagette. They also did other things such as baked spuds, but without a menu, I felt like I had to pick my food quickly rather than keep people waitung while reading boards. I was looking for somewhere to have lunch that was reasonably priced and that I had not been to before. I accidentally stumbled across the Canadian Muffin Company. I say accidentally because it looks as though it is closed. The windows need cleaning, there was an empty board outside with just the heading of the shop but nothing saying what they served. There was a tiny and somewhat rusty sign saying "the best espresso and cappachino in town. There was seating outside which unfortunately was painted in colours of the Starbucks next door. Even once I realised that the door was open there was nothing to say that it served anything other than coffee and mufins. I was the only person eating there - despite it being the height of lunchtime and I am not at all surprised. You would only think to go in if you knew it was open or (as in my case) you were strolling slowly looking for somewhere. The Canadian Muffin Company have a great product and awesome staff. With just a little cleaning of the external premises and a pot of paint to brighten up and "brand" the area, it wouldn't be such a well kept secret

Outside grubby looking with condensation on inside of windows which obscured view into interior. At first glance, I thought the place was closed. Inside felt "sweaty" and damp due to the condensation and no (visible) ventilation. Flat white coffee could have been anything, it was so tasteless. Shan't be returning.

Absolutely love this place. Obviously take away only but oh my!!! The muffins are out of this world!! I never have them long enough to take a photo as I just want to stuff them in my face as fast as I can and then slowly savour the taste. The bloke even offers to heat them up for you if you've not managed to get there for when they come straight out of the oven!!! Strawberry and white chocolate or, I think, strawberry and milk chocolate with both having a lovely filling in the middle and dotted inside with melted delight..light and fluffy to..( all other flavours, if they do them have gone by the time I get there.) I can never walk past here without going in. Big ones are £2.30 each and they are huge. I'd pay way more... he makes a smaller child size too though not sure of the price. It's great in here. Small inside with what would usually be a handful of tables but it doesn't need to be bigger. Service is delightful. Always happy and smiling. Not had anything else here as I'm only after one thing.. No other muffin compares.. Just go and try them. Even if you dont usually eat muffins. You won't regret it! (Photos are taken from their Facebook page. )

Very good muffins and excellent staff, they serve amazing coffe always with personal touch to it. The cafe itself is small but ensures that all the clients feel welcomed. It has an outside space that can be used when the weather allows it.

The sign outside says "The best cappuccino in town" which is definitely false advertising - it was thin and watery. However, the muffins were really nice and very different to others (because, from the wall poster, they're made predominantly with oats!)

Visited for a work lunch. Unfortunately coffee machine was broken. Small and intimate setting. Muffins looked amazing but didn't indulge.

It's an interesting place with a unique atmosphere. Very tasty muffins too which you can't get anywhere else in Plymouth. However the location is a bit narrow. It has mostly 2 person seating making it not the best for larger gatherings which is a shame.

Friendly little place with fresh muffins made on site - - a nice change from the big chains. The generous bran muffins are fat-free so I don't feel guilty about indulging.

Really good service and friendly staff. It is only a small place but is always busy. The muffins taste amazing as is the coffee. They also offer other lunch options all at resonable prices. They even do small muffins if you are wanting a mid morning or afternoon one.

This is a great little coffee shop try their savoury Muffins and then finish with the sweet ones the shop is a little off the main shopping area but well worth searching out.

Only get to visit this place every so often but the muffins are superb, healthy, not full of sugar and delicious. Unfortunately it’s not in the nicest part of Plymouth and you can easily miss it as you walk past but it is a hidden gem, definitely worth a visit!

Tried the muffins with a cappacino to eat in. Not had them for a long long time. Double chocolate muffin was just as I remember. They were warmed up which makes them even nicer. Cappacino was nothing to rave about though. Plenty of choice of other foods. Place looks like it hasn't been decorated in years. Floor needs a good scrub too.

Best coffee in town , i dont think so . But...this is the Canadian Muffin Company and they do very nice Muffins , not your typical over sweet processed type you may eat elsewhere, these are homemade and substantial and they taste like there good for you. We will try again for more.

We popped in for our first visit after enduring a very damp Plymouth morning. The welcome was warm, so were the muffins if you so choose, and the coffee was good.We each, (3), had a different muffin, had a mouthful of each others and compared notes. All agreed, flavoursome, nicely cooked with crispy edges and without that cloying sweetness that seems to be an integral part of so many shop-bought muffins.It's small and so are the tables and we'd happily visit again, providing I remember that it's cash only. (cash point across the road)

Love this place and visit regularly

The Canadian Muffin Co., has always been my favourite place to go for a quiet coffee and lovely mini muffin. After a morning shopping, its lovely to find a place that's peaceful and does great coffee. They do large muffins and also some smaller muffins that they will heat up for you and they taste great. Knowing that they only use the best ingredients is also a bonus.

Have been coming here for the best part of 20 years, it really doesn't bother me that I have to remember to take cash and the muffins and coffee are always lovely. Me and my other half went here on our first date over 4 years ago and recently were back there when he proposed to me. The staff were wonderful, helping him get the ring to the table and giving the children chocolate reindeers, plus offering us wine to celebrate. Wonderful place, wonderful people and definitely recommend!

If you're a muffin lover you have to try this place. It's so different from any other muffin you've had and it's soo good! Do not expect the usual muffin though, it's not overly sweet and you can feel the oat bits at every bite, I loved it. Nice hot drinks and very friendly staff as well. The place is tiny but really worth it, highly recommended.

Have been coming here for years and years never thought about coming to do a review before but am glad I am!! This little cafe is a hidden gem. Too many places have become about fast food and there's far too many chain eateries around in my opinion. The Canadian muffin co is very intimate, cosy, is the perfect place to chill out and have some tasty grub or just a coffee and most importantly a delicious healthy muffin!! I always order a tuna sweetcorn melt as you've not tasted anything quite like it (very indulgent) and if I take it away to eat I get so many comments on how tasty it looks! The double chocolate mini muffin is my favourite, a good old classic that is just even more delicious once they've warmed it quickly! Go and enjoy it there !!!

The muffins here are absolutely incredible, both the sweet and savoury ones. My boyfriend and I come here quite a lot and I love it. I would definitely recommend it!

I am an insulin dependent diabetic and entered here in a state of hypoglycaemia clutching a credit card which is not accepted here. However on finding that I was diabetic the boss lady allowed me a muffin and cappuccino with no charge with the view that if she was in a similar situation she would hope that someone would help. A wonderful place to go which has restored faith in the human race. Well done.

The muffins are excellent and they have a good choice of teas plus coffee and hot chocolate. They also use lactofree milk if you ask and the other food is all freshly made which again is all good.

Ive walked past this place countless times, it is oddly placed being off the main shopping streets but it is still going after years so must do a good trade. Menu selection looks good, especially for vegetarians and vegans. Nice quiet atmosphere, pleasant service and the coffee was very good. However, I was disappointed with the muffins. The White chocolate one was bland and not chocolatey or sweet enough for my taste. I think they are healthier bran type muffins which are fine for health freaks but for a man with an insane sweet tooth they lacked a certain indulgence

Claims to serve the best espresso in Plymouth. Sadly, this is not the case. Went in just for the coffee, not for food. Dishes on menu appeared to be vegetarian/vegan. Service was efficient & friendly.
