Really nice rest stop for some drinks and to look at all the vintage cameras. Staff was super nice. It really close to the British Museum. The staff was super nice and friendly. Prices are very reasonable.

The cafe is really charming, with nice soft jazz playing. The food and drink is of a decent quality. Downstairs is a small museum which they charge just £2 to look around. A plethora of cameras across two rooms and a tiny cinema will be fun for enthusiasts. There’s little by way of descriptive explanation for the displays so it’s not wildly exciting if you don’t know much about cameras already. Also has a camera repair shop inside so a lot of photographers come in the shop. Anyway if visiting the British museum then pop in for the cafe alone because it has a lovely atmosphere.

I love it! The British Museum was 'full' so we went for a walk and came across this wonderful place. Upstairs is a cafe/restaurant selling food. We had tasty coffee and biscuits. On the tables are cameras (donated/beyond reasonable repair) that you can feel - takes you back to the good old days when taking a picture required thought! There is also a camera repair room which also sells some cameras and other gadgets such as film (remember the yellow kodak boxes?) and camera bags. Downstairs in the basement is a small but brilliant museum with hundreds of cameras covering many different eras from Cameras on wooden tripods to Box Brownies, Canons to video cameras. I'll be back :-)

I love this cafe which has the Camera Museum in the basement. A small menu but great paninis and good coffee. The background music is always good and the mix of furniture and pictures (all film related) give it a lovely homely atmosphere. Would highly recommend!

Only go if you are really into cameras! This will be of no interest to you otherwise. I am very into photography so I enjoyed this. Very small. You probably only need twenty to thirty five minutes if that. Really depends on you. If you are into detail, you could spend a lot longer. Nice display of cameras, some history and other items. There is a £1.00 fee to enter for adults which is reasonable. However, when I offered to pay it the man said just leave a donation wherever downstairs. I couldn't find anywhere and he was busy upstairs so I just left the £1.00 in a place I hope he could find it. Make sure you do the same if you go as these places need our support. The coffee shop upstairs and camera repairs were busy. Cute coffee shop with a a nice selection of snacks, sweet treats, light lunches, juices, coffee and more. Not a huge range but sufficient. If I had more time, would have stopped for a coffee. Will definitely come back to do that.

I didn't visit the camera museum in the basement but had a coffee with friends in the cafe on the ground floor. It's rather amazing that a place like this can survive when rents in the area must be punishingly high. Very friendly reception and decent coffee. The cafe is interestingly decorated and you'd be a fool to go a chain coffee shop rather than here.

We bypassed the cafe and went straight down to the museum. Having said that the cafe did look cool and aesthetically pleasing so might pop in for a coffee some time. The museum is not really a museum, more of a camera collection on display. It shows the evolution of the camera from its humble beginnings right through to today, but there is very little actual information on display. If you are a major camera enthusiast then great, but otherwise it is often difficult to know what you are looking at and why it deserves a spot in the museum. It was worth visiting as we were in the area but we spent no more than 10 minutes here and kind of wish we put our £2 towards a hot drink upstairs.

This is a very relaxed cafe upstairs and a fascinating camera museum downstairs, for which there is a nominal entry fee of £1 but nobody to collect it! It’s basically a heaven for camera nerds, a supplier of accessories for vintage cameras and a repair shop, which serves coffee, cakes and snacks in extremely relaxed surroundings just round the corner from the British Museum. Quirky and great fun.

I stopped in here while a little bit lost near the British Museum - I needed a quiet place to collect my thoughts and plan my actions. I had just arrived in London on an overnight flight from New York and I desperately needed caffeine, WiFi, and new British £s. I had just learned my British pounds from 2006 I’d brought were no good(!) The gentleman running this cafe was wonderful - he accepted my outdated £s, no problem, and served me a delicious cappuccino, and I finally had WiFi access! This place is a quiet little haven on a very busy street. The camera museum adds to the charm.

My companion & I were thrilled to discover this quirky, welcoming, independent cafe. The background music of Leonard Cohen was a masterstroke. The coffee, Lavazza was exceptional. We only popped in for coffee but were lured by the menu to sample delicious hot homemade soup on this freezing January day. I can recommend this cafe/camera museum without reservation for those who enjoy a deviation from the mainstream dross and wish to gain an authentically pleasing experience.

A bright and spacious coffee shop set in a great department store selling beauty furniture (however always with sale prices which I am not convinced about). The sandwiches could do with being made with a better selection and quality of bread. Also the salad garnish has not changed in years - a bit of lettuce, large slice of dry cucumber, a couple of rings of red onion and tasteless cherry tomatoes with a choice of sachet mayo or salad cream. You also get a small pile of crisps. I would love to see this improved and offered a pile of mixed salad leaves and a nice salad dressing.
