Visited on the Friday and Saturday of pride 2024 this has to be the most organised bar for getting drinks out fast to customers. With the doors operating as a one-way system and the majority of people drinking outside in the street service was easy and quick with the huge amount of staff on the bar I would say probably 10 or 12. I couldn't fault the service here everything flowed very easily. My only issue was the price two double vodka and cokes and one pint of cruise campo came in at £36 pounds. I guess the owners of this place simply make hay when the sun shines. Definitely cashing in on the pride visitors but hey it was worth it Great bar friendly staff really enjoyed my visit.

This place does pub grub food, but it does it so well that I keep coming back every time I visit Brighton. On this occasion I went for a very late lunch, as my train arrived in Brighton just a few minutes before their last orders for lunch. I had the ribeye steak with chips and peppercorn sauce, it came with onion rings and a salad too. Remember, if you eat there, go when you are hungry, as the portions are huge. I am a big eater, but I do challenge anyone to finish such an enormous portion ( I only left a few leaves of salad though) . I had a pint of Peroni to wash it down, and then was happy. The meat was beautifully cooked, the chips were great, the onion rings were delicious too . Happy days !

You get a lot of food for your money. I had to share with someone for mine because I'd never be able to eat it all! The food is really good too, good quality. Not too much of a wait considering how many people there were and we were a table of 6 all ordering on different tickets and ordering different things. Good options for both vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Staff were so friendly. Lovely atomopsher and the other people eating were also very friends. Extremely inclusive place. A Sunday lunch offered generous portions: the pork and the chicken went down well but the beef rib was thought to be a bit short of meat. The vegetables were pretty good though the potatoes were too large and rather hard. The beers are decidedly expensive: Harvey’s and Amstel both £7.20 a pint; the Sauvignon Blanc was just over £10 for a large glass. The pub has a good atmosphere. Service was top drawer and we were very well looked after.

After going in many pubs in Brighton, most of them awful, we stumbled across this absolute gem!! Superb staff, lovely atmosphere, the 'regulars' couldn't be any nicer, seven of us went in and had drinks and a meal off the extensive menu, the food was all home cooked, delicious 😋, and the portions huge, yes the mains are around £18, but that's not bad and you don't mind paying for quality, and to actually leave a pub full these days is a rarity. Would 100% recommend, you will not be disappointed!!

I have always been a fan of this great gastro pub until Monday. I have known Maureen for the last decade. I even recommended the food menu to a retired police man on Monday. However, Maureen was so rude to me on Monday I will never visit again. I had taken my fifteen years bullterrier to the Camelford since 2014. Maureen told me a story about her son's bullterrier who was aggressive. My old bullterrier died last December. I adopted a younger dog from adopt a bullterrier rescue last month. Reggie. I took him to the Camelford on Monday. It was empty. Reggie jumped on a table. For a moment, Maureen asked me if I owned the dog. And to get him off the table, of course I did. Very disappointed she had no memory that I have been a frequent customer for the past ten years. And would not allow dogs on a table. I would not bring Reggie to this pub again. He was perfectly behaved after excitedly jumping on the table and charmed the only other customers in the pub. Except Maureen and the group around her. James and Reggie

BEWARE of Over-charging and Flat beer. We were charged £12.50 for a pint of Harveys draught bitter and half lager and lime (Heinekin). Upon questioning the price, the barman was both rude and stand-offish and was not prepared to admit his mistake. Furthermore, the beer was flat. We came into this pub, as we had done the day before, to enjoy a few drinks and to eat. However, by overcharging us by approx £3 we decided not to order our meals here valued at around £48 - their loss! We do not recommend. Time of visit: 5.30pm, 28 Feb 2024.

I'm so old that I can remember when a lot of things were called something else. Opal Fruits, marathons , dime bar, jif, loads of things that all had a name change. Remember how I'm old? My only reason for years to go up Camelford street would be at 2am after Legends closed, walking up to St James street for when the Bulldog used to be a 24hour weekend venue. Time, my age and changes to my drinking habits mean that these days I don't frequent liscenced premises after dark. Midweek lunchtimes tho, I'm all over that. I don't remember when The Camelford Arms became the Camelford Arms - it's previous incarnation wasn't a regular haunt of mine, but the power of a name change and a firm dedication to the food side of things is a success story unmatched by the previous incarnation or a majority of the current competition. The Camelford Arms is one of my top three Brighton food venues, and the position in that three is usually determined by my lunchtime dining companion. I used to love a pint in a cosy wooden floored pub with burly bears and lumberjack overtones, But todays Camelford Arms is it's own success story and the fact that you are welcome to take dogs in whilst anything human and under 18 is strictly verboten is just a personally pleasing cherry on the top.

The food was incredible. The sign outside describes it as good, honest grub and that is spot on. It has all the pub staples you'd want; pies, gammon, burgers plus so much more. I had the sharing platter and unbelievably you could choose BOTH meat AND cheese. Super tasty for just under £20 and you got loads as you can see. The pie is described as deep filled and it was. So much tasty meat. The 8oz steakwich was that big my football playing, 6'4" tall 18 year old couldn't finish it. The drink choice was excellent. Disappointed to see extortionate prices over Pride weekend. The only place we visited where we seemed to pay 50% extra. £31 for two double G+T, where most bars charged between £17 and £21 for the same thing. As locals, we will take note for the future, plenty of other bars.

PRIDE - £8.50 for a pint of IPA. Shocking at the price increase for all drinks due to Pride. Shameful.

Just had to wait 40 minutes for breakfast and missed our train. I was told that the delay was because they were very busy, which clearly wasn’t true as the place wasn’t full. Our order had obviously got forgotten even though they were overstaffed. I counted 4 people serving about 15 customers. The staff were happily talking about their holidays and dating, and taking cigarette breaks, rather than checking the orders had been processed. The chef even came out for a coffee break and gossip - while we had been waiting 30 mins. In fairness they did apologise profusely and took some items off the bill. The breakfast was ok when it came but certainly not worth the wait.

Since the new owner took over I’ve become a regular - the sandwiches are so nice and with *so* much filling, they’re such good value compared to most places. The owner is really friendly and accommodating and I can usually park outside.

Fantastic breakfast. Easily changed tomato and mushrooms for extra sausage and bacon. Clean and staff are lovely. Free tea and coffee with breakfast.
