Food was great and place is very nice since the renovations.

We come every week for breakfast. Food is always fab, if we get here late they advise we go and check what’s left before we pay which doesn’t happen in other places. The carveries are always lovely too, plenty of choice for all meals. The staff are all really friendly, especially Caeris (don’t know if that’s spelled right!) they make the time to chat and all know our little boy’s name and come over to say hello to him. The place looks lovely after the recent refurb, definitely one of our favourite places to eat 😊

Good place for breakfast had a lovely time only thing is I've never had Yorkshire pudding and grave on a breakfast.

Looks great after refurbishment had nice Sunday lunch. I do wish the carvery team would give you proper slices of meat though. I don't think thin bits look good on a plate. Don't get me wrong we enjoyed it but the meat needs to be cut better.

BEWARE! Served with a £100 parking fine... Apparently there is an iPad at the front where you have to register your car! Would have been nice if someone from Toby Carvery had told us this, very poor and won't be going back.

They have cut down on the amount of meat they give you, food counter is nearly always got food over it, staff that serve you never happy, table are never properly cleaned or floor around tables, and know they have the cheek fining you when you legitimately park in a disabled bay, because they have a new check-in screen for your vehicle, euro carparks who know watch the carparks via cameras made 15.6 million last tax year, Toby carvery you are on your way out So you ask to try it again which we did yesterday 02/11/2024, all I can say is would never go again and would not recommend anyone to go there, we arrived at 3.50pm waited at the front desk after waiting about 3 or 4 minutes for a member of staff to greet us we were shown to our seats by a very miserable young guy who did not even wait until we say down before he asked if we would like drinks, we were sat next to a till point, by the time the guy turned around to put our drinks order in he had forgotten what we had ordered, all the staff looked miserable, we were not given any information by any staff member what to door what we were eating, carvery or menu, we went to the carvery counter and my 80 mother in law went before myself and my wife where she asked a very miserable young guy for her meat and asked if she could not have it to thick, he sliced 3 small pieces which were that thin you could see through them so she asked for some more and a bit thicker, he batted his eye and cut 2 more slices without even speaking to her, he then askedy wife whateat she would like, she asked if there was more lamb as all that was on the counter was a bone and a few scraps, he replied no there is no more left, then a female cook said it's in the oven cooking and won't be ready until 5pm so you will have to have something else. Myself and my wife had only gone in for the weekend lamb so decided not to eat at all which none of the kitchen staff seemed bothered about, I went back to our table while my wife helped her mum. I asked if there was a manager available to speak to I was told yes it's Charly, She came over and had already been informed why I wanted to speak to her as straight away she told me there was no more lamb until 5pm, she said it was because the lamb had been put in the oven late, I told her this was poor management and planning she replied, " that is your opinion", we had a bit more of a conversation but the whole time she just did not seem interested. We were given my mother in laws meal was given to her free which was only just warm as all the trays were stacked high and well above the heating point. Just to add the pub was very quiet aswell and staff just standing behind the bar, my mother in law has just moved to the old peoples bungalows across the road and when talking to some of her friends this morning she was told that 3 of them left there meals because of problems with the staff and food the first week it reopened. I have never seen this pub so quite on a Saturday evening and the food as poor. The refurbishment is very nice but I think the staff and management need a lot more training. Very very poor

60 Dirty plates covered in yesterday's mushy peas (they expect you to eat off) and the worst breakfast I've ever seen, I can't say ate because it was so bad a few bites were enough to know this place isn't for me. The hash browns would've made for good construction material though, they had the hardness of a house brick. Edit: Thanks for responding but I'm complaining about the quality of your food, even if it was cooked properly it'd still be garbage quality wise. Are you able to change your suppliers and staff just to satisfy me? No your not, so it's pointless me contacting you.

Good food and generous portions friendly staff

The restaurant had not long re opened after being closed for a long time. It should have stayed closed! No ice cream, no decaff coffee and here's the best part....a table of 6 paid for our bill, a table of four!! How on earth the wait staff messed that up is beyond us. The manager was rude, obnoxious and expected us to pay a bill that wasn't broken down so we knew what we were being charged for. She stood and argued, yes argued with us for over 5 minutes before finally sorting the issue. Absolutely abysmal service, should not be allowed to stay open. Toby please feel free to contact us and we can go into further details and name and shame the manager!

To hot needs to turn the heating down, staff are rude and a bit indoctrinated, trying to charge me for an adult meal even tho I have had a kids meal. Also have told people that we cant have kids meals because we are over 11 years old. Food was sloppy but yorkies were nice!

Always a pleasant visit at Talke with delicious fresh food and now that the refurbishment has taken place it felt great to enjoy yet another meal in a lovely, fresh and welcoming environment. Looking forward to next time already!

Although it's closing for a refurb it should still have everything on the menu but it doesn't which is disappointing. Got charged twice for the carvery as well so had to faff about getting a refund.

Only have a 1 star because I couldn’t give 0. Absolutely terrible. Advertise that you do Yorkshire pudding for breakfast but bring 6 out in the hour that we were there

Food wasnt wasnt hot , dried up no Gammon just beef worst carvery we have had from there , very disappointed

The food was terrable they sent 2 dinners no gravy it had to go in to the bin no gravy stone cold it was very expensive I was very disapointed

This order was 2 hours late and the food is not good as the restraunt told me it was ready for the time i ordered it but no one turned up to delivery it

Turned up at 11.10am to be told they weren't serving food untill well after 12pm, no where does it state you dont serve food between 11am-12pm. We wasn't standing around for an hour so went elsewhere. You may also want to train your staff on how to talk to your customers because we were spoken to like they had stepped in something. Won't be returning. Ended up taking our business elsewhere that was serving food.

Went for dinner today , absolutely horrible , food cold , uncooked vegetables, sent drink back cos it tasted funny, no atmosphere, if you after a Sunday dinner with meat seemingly it's a carvery u better find some where else as you don't get much meat at ALL, u would be more fulled up with a maccy d's.. over all 1 out of 10 as it was open

Went for dinner with a mate, told by the manager over 30/35 minutes wait. So I had a drink at the bar, watched other walk-ins getting seated. Waited nearly 40mins when spoke to the manager his reply was "well you didn't make a reservation!" After a few words about being seated he was just rude! Very poor attitude towards myself. I could see they were short staffed but don't take it out on your customers. Be a while before I go again. Endon is much friendlier and helpful!!

This place is rubbish. Only two meat choices and we were told the beef was too fatty although it looked fine, seemed to only want to give you gammon. Got the tiniest amount of meat. Basically paying for a plate of veg. Avoid.

Just been for a King size carvery. Great food. Was going to knock a star off coz I'm way too full and sweating like a pig but that's probably my fault.

I left a few pigs in blankets and abit of Yorkshire pudding and devoured everything else plus the cider and coke zero were great.

Requested no veg due to allergies and received more veg than other food. Food was also cold

Nice food and was seated straight away at 12:30 on a Sunday which was great, and unexpected without booking. Food was nice, the usual for a Toby Carvery. Staff seemed under a lot of pressure to turn over tables and it showed in the service towards the end. Otherwise good experience.

Very good place not busy at the time we went on Thursday after 1.00pm great service. had the roast the roast potatoes need work on not crispy and the yorkshire pudding need work on as well apart from that the meal was good .

Fabulous first outing to the Toby carvery and we loved it ,staff very friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. My grandchildren can't wait to go again it was lovely and very reasonably priced. Thank you Toby carvery at talke.see you soon.

The delivery time was changed 6 times, I had to wait nearly 2 hours for this to be delivered

Tried the wrap for the first time and it was well filling worth every penny

Friendly staff, the food wasn't great tbf the mash was amazing.

Didn’t even get a chance to try the food as we had a phone call to cancel our reservation that we booked at 7pm for 8:10pm due to the fact there was no meat left at 7:30 an hour and half before closing , not the best impression. Luckily we went to a different Toby carvery that had good amount of everything left .

Complete disregard of the meat choice that was ordered, I understand if it's not available but I was not contacted about anything and just given pork that I didn't order.

Staff can be incredibly slow including cavers and waiting staff but they are predominantly pleasant. Average food and can be hit and miss depending on the quality of the cooked food and who cooked it.

Standard dry food but it's a carvery so you don't expect much

I found the staff to be polite and understanding they made us feel welcome.The carvery was excellent food hot and a clean environment we think that this venue is one of the best in stoke-on-trent for a carvery.

Girl serving drinks was nice and enthusiastic , everyone else didn’t seem to be that switched on. Got told there was no yorkshires left for the carvery but then magically appeared after we finished our meal. Not asking much for a toby experience but the basics weren’t even there.

My review is about the breakfast deliveries. Food is good, especially considering the price. Usually packaged well for delivery. My one complaint would be that I'd prefer if the beans and tomatoes were consistently packaged separately- there's no option to not have tomatoes, and the hash brown often gets drenched in tomato juice/beans. Other than that the food and service are great.

The food was delicious, plenty of room and we were seated straight away. No wait for the buffet. The menus, salt and pepper on the tables were all marked with food/sauce and needed a wipe over but this did not impact our visit and would go again.

Another lovely carvery at Toby, Talke. Food excellent and hot, staff very cheery and friendly which is probably why it's always popular.

The usual Toby breakfast experience, always have to wait for something to come out which ruins the flow of any meal. Sausages anaemic as always.

Called in at lunchtime because we had just bought a car from next door and seemed too good an opportunity to miss. From the moment we went in the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Being a vegetarian I don’t always get the amount of choice of dishes as other people but I have to say that was not the case here. There was an excellent choice of dishes for me and what I chose along with a really good selection of veg from the carvery ( which I must say was very nicely cooked) turned out to be one of the best meals out for a very long time. Well done all.

Unfortunately only one vegan option to have with the carvery and when that is not available then you have a choice of only veg or going without, pity. The choice for meat eaters great and the food tasty.

Usual good quality, but disappointed with portion size. A lot smaller than usual and only just enough gravy to go around.

Service was shocking, waited 10minutes before someone came to our table, the waitress wasn’t busy. She was sorting salt and pepper dishes on tables beside ours, I had to call her over and ask what we done regarding carvery etc. In the middle of speaking to her she walked away, then shouted over from a desk to ask what drinks we wanted. We then went to the carvery queue where no one was present, a ‘chef’ then came from the kitchen, I asked if there was any more gammon, he returned to the kitchen and brought a fresh gammon joint, he proceeded to cut the bit of gammon that had been left lying on the hot plate instead of cutting the fresh one. On returning to our seat after filling plate which was filled with cold vegetables, potatoes were brown inside, couldn’t cut through the beef. The meal was absolutely disgusting. My son wanted a kids meal and even that was terrible, they brought both starter and main at the same time, £6.95 for a tiny bowl of soup and 5 chicken nuggets on their own. I had to speak to the manager, food was terrible. We’ve used toby carvery a few times so we thought we would again while on holiday but NEVER again will we be back to a toby carvery. Wouldn’t give this place a 1 star but couldn’t be completed without a star rating.

10 Mins to be seated , 10 mins for drinks to be served and 10 mins for the server to appear for the carvery . And the pub wasn’t even half full , shan’t be returning

Had a Sunday carvery. Turkey was really nice didn’t have other meats I don’t eat them. Roast potatoes not too good, not crispy enough. And the Yorkshire puddings I left as I bit into one and grease all came out.

Terrible service, the buffet wasn’t explained, they had ran out of everything except vegetables and meat! There was no one to serve the meat at the buffet until I told the bar staff.
