Tung Shing in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Used it for 25 years now and then. Aways enjoyed the food but can be more pricey than others. The one thing i don't like is the inconsistent portion sizes. Some time its full while others can be under or half full. Not good for paying customers. Ordered this at weekend. Its been full in past but this is low. They said was shrinkage. NO its not. Must check more.

By far the best and most delicious Chinese food anywhere I know in the area and ive tried all the other local ones. Also freshly cooked food. Staff are really friendly and I look forward to a Chinese takeaway treat as often as we can. It's very reasonably priced and I can't recommend it enough. Tung Shing is no.1

Very poor, staff very rude. Food was poor we had to bin some of it and items have been missed off. First time going and won’t be returning.

Lovely takeaway friendly service great food

Lovely food very large portions my wife is very fussy and asked for no peas no onion etc in her meals spoke to lovely lady at the counter called Megan who was very helpful in accommodating us, highly recommended will use again, very friendly staff.

I’ve used Tung Shing since the 80’s. Never once have I had poor food. However, after not ordering for over a year due to Covid we looked forward to our first takeaway. It was terrible. The chicken had bones in it that I kept cracking with my teeth. The rest of the chicken was rubbery, fatty and grey. The pork was also rubbery. The curry sauce (which had always been the best in the area) was weak and runny. The chips were anaemic. Soggy and pale. I have never had a meal from them like this before. Really disappointing. As the previous comment, it’s like everything is cheapened. I can’t describe how awful that chicken was. Such a shame.

We have been using Tung Shing for years because we have always loved their food. They have just recently reopened after being closed for months and we ordered a take away last night for 3 of us. When we tasted it we were so disappointed, the chicken was awful and tasted slightly perfumed with a very rubbery consistency as if it had been boiled. The curry sauce was very mild and very bland, not the taste we have loved over the years. Soft noodles were gorgeous as usual, as were the onions in the curry. Just don’t know what has gone wrong, but after waiting so long for Tung Shing to reopen we were really upset with the taste, not what we have been used to.

Phoned order at 5.50pm. Told it would be 30 minutes. Went to collect and had to wait until 7.20pm. When got home the food was not very hot. Will never order from Tung Shing again. A lot of the food went in the bin. A waste of money.

Used to be very very good about 4-5 years ago. Now it’s just plain awful. The food is extremely overpriced, the portion sizes are a joke, and the food quality has taken a nosedive. The bbq ribs taste absolutely awful, chicken/beef curry taste like what I’d imagine a cheap microwave meal to taste like, and everything else seems to follow the same patten. I was kinda happy the portion sizes weren’t enough to feed a small child as the almost 30 pounds worth didn’t make a dent in my kitchen bin when I threw it all away. They need to get back to how they once were those not so many years ago when the food was actually good. Now it’s just feels like a almost scam.

Been using this takeaway over three generations of the same family. Always been good food, good value too.

Really has gone downhill everything is overcooked to point of being dehydrated and taste burnt.. Have used it for years and years but not any more..

Best chinese food ever and great staff

Been a regular here for many years , food is fine although we do tend to buy the same things ( Chicken curry , best around) but when are they going to catch up with the 21st Century and accept card payments . Another slight moan , they have a notice saying Scottish and Irish notes not accepted, fine ,except a sorry would not go amiss , after all manners cost nothing.

Really friendly staff, meal was wonderful. They even added extra spices when requested. Amazing. Love the food would defo recommend 👍

Excellent standard of food. Lots of choices. Some English food available though not tried this. Quick service. Never had a poor meal from here. Go often.

Have seen about three generations of Tung Sting but the current members of family in the takeaway seem to be the least suited to work. Every time I walk past when shop is open it is unusual to see anyone in there. Food is nowhere near as good as it used to be when the kids parents and grandparents ran the place. Maybe they should come back and leave the washing up to the kids . Food would definitely improve.

The portions are not massive, people are right. I would however, prefer a really pleasant smaller portion than a huge meal that makes u feel awful because you’re so full!! We always have good service and find the owners accommodating. We ring our order through for a set time and it’s always ready. We love this takeaway and have been going for over 16 years,

When ever we have a Chinese meal, we always go to Tung Shing. We have never been disappointed with our food. We phone the order through and its ready by the time we get to pick it up. (about 15/20mins).Good selection and always cooked lovely.

Food good, tasty and fresh but gets busy so expect a wait if you just turn up and order and they do not deliver

Years ago this was on of the best, I now wouldn’t feed it to a dog and staffs attitude is poor. Shame to see this place go down the toilet

Nice size portion not over faced with indigestion afterwards like others that think all english are greedy fattys.

Awful food. They have the arrogance to make you pay cash and collect the food which frankly was the worst Chinese I've ever had. Greasy, bland, predominantly onion based slop.

First takeaway from here, won’t be returning. Awful quality, worst Chinese food we’ve ever had.

Constantly get your order wrong

We have been going to this Chinease for years. The family are friendly, happy. Food is the best! Especially the curry sauce !!!!

Price is getting higher, portion sizes are pathetic. Containers are tiny and they don't even fill them. Never go there again.

used to be the only place to go for a chinese , so after 20 years and tired of lack lustre takeaways decided to go down ( they dont deliver) and order one which took 20 minutes waiting inside while it was cooked , we were starving but the quantity was so small we were still starving even after two main meals , the curry container must have been about 200 mls , lovely taste but wont be returning

Not a bad Chinese very tasty It would be better if they had a delivery service as I'm sure this place would benefit it however saying all that the gravy here is beautiful I've never tasted Chinese gravy like it would highly recommend

Regularly use Tung Shing . Never had a bad meal 10/10 Always fresh and really tasty. Menu has loads of choice. Food always promptly cooked. Best take away in Kidsgrove

The other half always had a beef curry take away as he adores them especially if on way hone from the pub they are great value and a valued takeaway in Kidsgrove

Easy access, right on the main road with side street parking available. The quality of the food here is excellent. Noodles to die for. There are lots of take always in Kidsgrove and I have 2 favourites of which this is one.
