Oriental Pearl in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Not good at all waited 1 and a half hours for food and when it came it was all cold and sloppy!!! Won't be ordering from here again!

Orderd last Friday 20th sept 24 and that night/ early hours of the morning 4 of us ended up with food poisoning, 4 days on only just starting to feel well again my 6 year old still not right.. couldn't even get a refund. Must have been something really nasty for how sick we were.. we had egg fried rice, ribs and chicken noodles. I've seen from recent comments I'm not the first either

orderd here got egg fried rice and see weed and sweet and sour chicken ball after an hour eating that I was violently puking and had bad stomach cramps headaches and diareaha and was nausea for 4 days straight I use to order here all the time only got stomach cramps but I draw the line now its way too oily the satay sauce has got 3cm of oil on top and tasted bad and chunky amd so oily I ordered prawn crackers they didn't arrive the fust time but the time I finished eating they just came and I was vomiting and feverish and had bad stool 1/10 it's not good be careful what you order check if it's cooked properly and sometimes it contains msg please be carefull!!!!!!

The food came within 20 mins which is good but was evident that the salt and pepper chips which are expensive anyway were double/triple cooked/ not nice. I called and explained, I also said that we had a chicken foo young not long ago that was that salty my son couldn’t eat it and they said they would reimburse me and I never did. Although they did offer me a free one instead, again never got. Not sure if the rest was actually fresh today on a Tuesday. Would not recommend on a Tuesday. Friday and Saturday very nice but not midweek. And the customer service of asking to pick up said salt and pepper chips so they could make sure they are bad is terrible! “Have you got over half left” “yes” “ok we will pick up and make sure they are not good” “ok” still waiting for them to pick up bad chips…. Absolute jokers 😂😂 never heard anything like it in my life

Ordered at 7pm for a birthday meal for 4 people....8.23 pm ,food still cooking & waiting for a driver. Never again

Big fan, Salt & Pepper chips are on point. Sweet & Sour chicken is crispiest I've ever had, it just makes it! Hot & Spicy sauce is a new one to me and its lovely! Wish I could eat this everyday lol

Ordered a meal and 2 hours after consuming some of the food we both became violently ill, despite no other food being consumed that day the takeaway denied any responsibility and refused to investigate the matter to ensure others did not suffer the same effects and denied any refund. The uneaten food is now going to be sent for testing. My advice be wary of ordering from here

Normally I would tell people to use this take away. Iv used this take away since it first opened the last few times it hasn't been the best. I kept hoping the next time it will have improved but sadly not. The main thing is the amount of times they refry the chips. They are rock hard with hardly any potato left as they've been reheated so much. And I also asked for no green peppers in my meal and they put them in. We are certainly not getting what we pay for and the prices are quite expensive now as well!

What's happened to the chips they are like rocks

when i first got my food i noticed a certain stench i found out it was the bbq ribs they smelled like dog sick and the egg fried rice thats a different story is really blew me away of how bad it tasted tasted a bit like the insides of a dog very angry dont come here

So I always order from you tonight the duck full of bones and grizzle rang up and the service was amazing offered to replace or refunded we took the refund they sent a driver with the money and to collect the duck . I will not stop ordering from because of the way you handled tonight I have never had a bad meal from you before food has always been truly amazing . Thank you for your amazing customer service your kindness and your understanding. Plus the driver you sent what an amazing man

Haven't been for a couple of months and was really looking forward to it as I've enjoyed their food in the past. Was disappointed though. Had the House Chow Mein, no beef, one piece of green pepper and broccoli. It was very gloupy, yet its states on the menu, with sauce/gravy. I feel as if it was made hours ago in a huge Wok and dished out when needed. Also had Cantonese Ribs as it also stated it was a favourite recommendation, the sauce on this was very thick and glossy too. Not happy, sorry Oriental Pearl, I will find somewhere else from now on. We had a takeaway from Oriental Pearl Thursday evening we had special fried rice, beef, curry and chips. The curry was disgusting. It was gloopy turn the carton upside down and it stayed in there presume it was yesterdays reheated won’t be going there again so please stop sending us texts stay away save your money go elsewhere. There’s plenty of a Chinese is in Kidsgrove and the food hygiene rating isn’t great if that’s true, it could be lower

Ordered our food over 50pound worth and they forgot the chips and the salt and pepper chips, rang up and just got attitude over the phone and women calling me a liar won't be ordering from here again food was horrible aswell 🤢

Not good and it's a shame. Haven't been to the oriental for a while, maybe I should have checked the reviews first. Delivery was on time and the driver was very pleasant. That's it , the food was horrible. Combo starter and chicken wings. Nothing fancy, if you can't get that right then you are in trouble.

Always had great food and service but tonight's takeaway duck was raw was told that's how it should be and they hung up on me absolutely disgusting the food should be taken to trading standards/food heigine

Delivery predicted 1.75 hours. They came to deliver just before that time but we didn't here anyone knock or door bell despite doors ajar and getting up to look regularly. Rang, but left no message and went back with food. We rang them to see where food was and they said they'd have to re-do food. It arrived only 10 minutes later and was cold...clearly not re-done! They wanted to charge for another delivery. Food tasteless and very disappointing although on this occasion correct. I don't know why I was talked into it as this is the norm from them. Last chance. We won't be ordering food from here again.

Normally a very good service but over half an hour late to deliver and the food was cold. 2 phone calls to try to find out where it was but, its with the driver, doesn't help much.

Ordered takeaway via just eat never arrived, couldn’t get through to anyone to discuss order

Rice was stuck together, chicken was under cooked and cold, took 90mins for delivery. When I phoned to complain I was told that they don't really care. Stay away from this awful take away.

Shocking, ordered meal for tonight came with main meal wrong plus food we never ordered, rang them thinking we had the wrong order only to be met with attitude from little missy, we order every week sometimes twice a week, they certainly don’t appreciate customers loyalty and how much you spend with them over 12 months. Overall Attitude of staff/ owners daughter stinks Food ok if you get what you ordered/sorry get what they got wrong and decided to send.

Customer service is absolutely shocking, especially from the owners daughter! Orders constantly come wrong and when you call to report you are met with attitude not with help. Considering we have been going there every week for 6+ years the customer service, all round service, and food has gone massively down bank! Will never be ordering from here ever again.

Not sure what all the negativity is about in the reviews? Collected our first order yesterday and the food was outstanding. Will be switching from our regular place to here from now on.

Have ordered from here for year, last 3 or 4 deliveries have been poor. Prices increased (fully understand this), no free prawn crackers anymore (penny pinching). One of my orders in BBQ sauce was coloured water (sent it back), gave them benefit of doubt and ordered two things, only got 1, that takes some doing. they need to sort themselves out as the reviews on here are getting worse. won't use them again.

Unbelievably rude staff. They don't answer the phone when you call. Rang repeatedly for 20 minutes, no answer. I then drove to the takeaway, to hear the phone continuously ringing in person. Another poor soul being ignored. I advised I had been calling for 20 minutes and they didn't answer the phone, I was told it had only just started ringing 🤣 I asked if she was going to answer the phone that rang the whole time we were in the takeaway to be told she didn't have time. I suggested maybe they need more staff, and she replied "no we are ok" with quite the attitude. Very poor customer service. I'm sure your receptionist loses you lots of business. I will go elsewhere in future!

Absolute rubbish, ordered two special chow mien. Delivered ontime but the food was horrendous, completely dry , no sauce at all and needed a magnifying glass to find the meat and prawns. Had the same a few weeks ago and it was good. Have they changed the chef? Won’t order again.

Ordered food recently, I waited by the door all night and we even have a ring door bell so we get a notification when someone is at the door, takeaway closes at 10:50 and it was 11:20, when then get a call from the takeaway saying that the driver had tried to knock on and the food had been taken back (lies) was met with a rude and patronising girl on the phone who put the phone down on me twice. Foods normally sh*te and gives everyone the runs anyway so maybe it was a sign. Gone proper downhill recently.

Would love to give 5 star as always ordered from here and amazing but the past 5 orders have been absolutely terrible.... oily food, not tasting the same, rendang curry flavourless, topped with oil and slimey. Spring rolls soggy so are the chips moved elsewhere u need to get back to the great food you used to have

Food was cold and I had severe sickness and doahorriah just a few hours after eating, I was sick for 24 hours straight, I was so ill I thought I was going to have to be hospitalised, this is not an experience I would wish on my worst enemy.

Very poor quality food. My duck and cashew nuts had slimy duck skin left on the meat.The meal had no flavour at all . The food when it arrived was just about warm . My husband had the ti green curry it was terrible the chicken was unrecognisable not sure what it was. This is the first time we have ordered from here and it will definitely be the last. What a waste of our hard earned money. My advice is AVOID

Food ordered at 5:15pm, hadn't been delivered by 6:20pm. I was told that they were waiting for a driver, still hadn't been delivered by 6:35pm, I was told that it was out for delivery. Delivered at 6:55pm STONE COLD!!! Can't get a refund as I had already thrown my order in the bin. SHOCKING SERVICE, DISGUSTING FOOD!!! DO NOT USE THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!

A wise man once said that we can't make anyone feel or do anything. We can throw things into the wind and it is up to each individual to decide how they want to react and where they want to stand when things fall. I can't make you order from this Chinese, nor can I make you try one of their delicious pancake rolls but when the opportunity falls for you to get a takeaway, step back, think and listen to your heart for only you are the true holder of your 5 star culinary experience destiny. Ribs fall reet off tut bone in all.

Always ordered from here after great reviews, never really had a problem, past few times the food has been cold so wasn't really enjoyable, we order every Friday night and we ordered tonight at 6.46pm it didn't arrive until 9.10pm and yet again it was cold, chips were like cardboard, chicken balls were soggy and chewy chicken, even the prawn crackers weren't tasty. So disappointed as I love Chinese and I'm very fussy where I order one from, thought we had found our favourite place but I will not be ordering again.

Just had a delivery. The food was cold and no taste. After a few mouth fulls straight in the bin. First time and last time I will use this shop. Absolute rubbish food. You need to take experience from Joyous Feast in Liverpool Tosd.

Thought we would try the oriental pearl out as our usual Chinese is closed on a Monday and family and friends have recommended it. This is by far the worst Chinese takeaway we have had! The salt and chilli chips were like eating cardboard they were so dry we struggled to eat them and ended up putting them in the bin, the same with the crispy duck. The chicken and cashew nut had no taste whatsoever. The only food that was slightly enjoyable was the salt and chilli chicken wings coating. It was easy to order online and fairly quick delivery however we won't be using again .

I use the oriental pearl for my take out all the time.. I've never been disappointed... And the aromatic shredded duck is absolutely. Gorgeous it comes with cucumber strips and sauce and chips it's. Lovely

I've always brought from you guys, you was my favourite takeaway and had no problem with your food it was always enjoyed , but recently you have changed your curry sauce recipe its gone a tastless greasy mess its really not nice, so I phoned and asked you guys about this, was told the recipe was not changed, so I ordered off you and sorry to say it was tastless and nasty again I won't be buying from you any more 😞

Always good food but do not order the massaman curry. One of my favourite dishes and it came with no potatoes (a staple of the dish) and the sauce was so thick that it wasn't a curry at all. Terrible curry but anything else I've had has been great.

Never had a bad meal, best satay sauce ive ever tasted, and friendly service.

Had to wait almost 2 hours for delivery and then had to reheat in microwave as was cold and not very appetizing

Always use this place and have never had a bad meal. I always collect because I live close but by the number of orders going through the door they must be popular. I don't give 5 stars often so for a fast food place 4 stars is as good as it gets.

I will never order from here again! Thought I'd treat my partner to a takeaway on his birthday after he finished work at 8pm, at 9:30 we called to ask were it was and was told its on the way. At 10pm the app said it had been delivered so we called back up and was told there was a mix up and the driver finished his shift a 9pm! Beans on toast it is!

Usually order from here but this will be the last time! Really gone downhill. Our order was late even though we pre-ordered at about 16:30 online. Expected at about 17:30-40, didn't arrive till 18:15 and most of the food was cold so had to be reheated. Chips were horrid and dry, the batter on the prawn balls was horrible and spongey (undercooked) and the beef satay was bland. My daughters omelette was horribly greasy too. Should of listened to her and ordered from Kass instead 🤦‍♀️

We had a mixture of things and everyone commented how nice their food was, we are all really fussy eaters! It was easy to order online chicken balls, prawn toast and spring rolls can be really greasy from other places ...not from here! Food was with us within the hour delivery was £4 but well worth it!! ♡♡♡X

I've had takeaway numerous times from here. The staff are friendly and the service is always good. Best Chinese takeaway in the Kidsgrove area and one which we recommend. The food is freshly prepared and has a good variety, plus the staff will tailor things to your need if you want a slight variation on a menu item. In summary - delicious food, and consistent!

We ordered a take away online tonight only to have to ring up 1 hour and 15mins later to find out where it was as it still hadn't arrived, we were told it was on it's way, when it finally got here half of our food was missing!! We called again to be told "well we have a restaurant" even if that was true which I don't believe it is as the restaurant closed down over a year ago what the hell has that got to do with our missing food?! Apparently they cooked half the order, sent that out and were now cooking the other half!! If you order from here be prepared for long wait times, appalling service and you may as well order too much as half of it won't arrive anyway

First time ordering from here, I was a little concerned with some of the negative reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. Nice food, piping hot, packaged well, delivered before estimated time and the delivery lady was very friendly. We will certainly use again.

Called them as did online order . Food was tasteless and the prawn crackers where yellow . Chicken balls where all doughy and hardly any chicken . Wrong rice sent . They weren’t interested at all . Food is really bad stay clear . 😬😬

I rang up to get a takeaway but i was disappointed as i when it came i didn’t get the food that I ordered. I then rung back when the takeaway arrived to inform them of the mistake and i was told I have what I ordered in a very rude manner and if i wanted what i ordered originally i would have to pay delivery charge again. They were not willing to correct the mistake and i felt like they were not bothered. All in all food was ok, the delivery driver was polite but please get a decent person taking orders over the phone or train the one you have. If you want a pick and mix of what you didn’t order go here. If you want what you order I would go elsewhere.

Never had a takeaway from here before but after being recommended we ordered the ‘Chef’s specials taste of Indonesia’ and it was delicious. Food arrived piping hot and very quickly for a Saturday/bank holiday weekend and we all loved it, especially the rendang daging (beef curry) and vegetable tempura. 😍Full of flavours and large portion sizes. We now have a new favourite chinese 😊

Ordered online to try out, I am deaf and cannot use the telephone, I thought great online ordering...so placed an order today 5/02/19 at 5.40pm. Waited for an hour and 40mins for it, when arrived it was cold. Never again order online

Sometimes the food is really nice. Sometimes They bring wrong orders or something missing... All depends.. although I do wish it was still WOK takeaway.. wok's chow mains came in that white cardboard box thing but it was delicious... Wish they brought wok back or something making chow meins lime how wok used to... they'd have so many more customers!! And with their spring rolls.. was 90p then went up to 1.10 for a big spring roll.. they were nice also...
