Art of Siam in Newcastle-under-Lyme

I was there with my family. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful. This was my first visit but it will not be the last. The food was really good. The soup came with two different meat, chicken and shrimp but I believe the base of the soup was the same. I enjoyed the soup but chicken was a bit dry. I ordered noodles and two orders coconut rice one egg fried rice both very tasty. The main course ordered , duck, 2 prawns and one chicken dishes but I later realised mum’s dish was chicken as well as mine but suppose to be a prawn dish. I asked, the staff to change mum’s dish. I wasn’t happy with my chicken dish but I had it, duck and prawn dishes were very tasty. We didn’t have any desserts but beer was pretty good be honest. We were full and loved the taste. Thank you Art of Siam I’ll be back !!!

Went for dinner we were a group of 7 , food was gorgeous, service great very attentive and friendly . We will be meeting there again . The fishcake starter was lovely

Another fabulous visit here to this great Thai restaurant. The staff are fabulous and really make you feel valuable. Apple and Tia are great front of house . Food was just as good as always . Our visit today was for a birthday meal and was a lovely touch to have a birthday card and a dessert with a candle on and a singing of happy birthday. !! This is the 3rd time I’ve given the bloke that works in there the benefit of the doubt. Hes arrogant and extremely rude he should not be in hospitality. To be fair the woman’s not much more pleasant! What happened to the old people that ran it they were lovely. I’m going go the Thai in stone from now on.

Can’t believe in all these years I’ve never visited Art of Siam!! We visited for a works do recently - everyone enjoyed their meals and we all chose varied things from the menu. Gorgeous restaurant interior, really lovely atmosphere and staff. I had Thai green curry. Delicious, lots of sauce too and we enjoyed lots of different rices and sides.

Super tasty food in pleasant surroundings, reasonable wine. I recommend the tamarind duck, green and red Thai curries. Service is friendly and efficient. Recommend booking, especially on weekends. Allergies well marked and well catered for.

Food was amazing! Everything was really tasty, but the crispy duck in tamarind sauce was a stand-out favourite.

The Mains were nice we had curry, the chilli beef and the papaya salad. However we ordered mango sticky rice and it was the most depressing dessert I’ve ever seen for £7. Plus it was a busy night with limited staff so it took us 30 minutes to get our food and 20 minutes to get our dessert. The poor staff looked overworked. The main thing was that the portions were too small and I wasn’t even full after eating dessert and I usually don’t really eat a lot. We won’t be coming again because the tiny portions weren’t worth the money.

We went to this Thai restaurant for lunch, we enjoyed their food and atmosphere very much. It was reasonably priced too. Will return again in the future. This is massaman curry with boiled rice. I asked for extra mild, it did turn out to be a perfect level of spiciness for me and was very delicious.

A really first class experience. I had the Thai Green Curry which was really delicious. Nice surroundings, attentive staff, very busy but tables are well spaced. And prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

What a lovely place, superb food, wonderful people, and all at a great price. Well worth a visit, and the lunchtime menu is even better value. Go there, you won't be disappointed.

The food was fantastic, but Basil Fawlty gave better service than the Waiters here. The Waitresses were nice, but no smile, no please and no thank you from the Waiters. The Waiter managed to ruin a special night for us. We will not be going back

Booked reservations as a busy place and the food was fantastic when it arrived, but the issue was the food did not came not all together. The others I was with had finished eating before mine arrived and that was after reminding the waitress a number of times regarding missing meals. Her attitude was not good and seemed to have been I got others to take orders from. Not impressed by this.

Beautiful Thai restaurant, very authentic and well presented food. We use this restaurant twice a month for lunch, as we are local, and have done for the past 25 years. We have seen many owners and staff come and go but apple and pimi today who served us are as good as ever. Food excellent and service great. Seen the previous review about the man in the “ black shirt” might be nice if you bothered to ask his name!’ You may just find that if you are more personable to these lovely people they may respect you a bit more, pimi has just come from Thailand 2 weeks ago and she’s absolutely charming and a credit to who ever has employed her. We really hope you keep her on at the restaurant , as we understand she’s in a probation period, she is wonderful and speaks fabulous English. . Food as good as ever 10 out of 10 fir everything , thank you

Had a takeaway for the first time here and it was the worst thai food I’ve had. The portions were tiny and the rice wasn’t cooked properly. Just shocked.

I went with my Daughter and grandson and the food was amazing. ( lt always has been) It has had new management, in recent time. The service is a bit hit and miss, and the manager walks around constantly, it's really off putting?

Normally the food at this restaurant is outstanding but last night not so good. We went for the set menu A, but all was served barely warm enough and the boiled rice was so cold I sent it back to be re-heated or microwaved, and still came back too cold. Thai food is meant to be served hot, especially the stir fry, so I can only guess the meals are plated up before any orders are received and sit there going cold until they are served, sorry this is not good enough. I did complain the head waitress but she just said she would pass my comments onto the kitchen staff and walked away, hence no tip.

An escape to Thailand for a couple of hours. A wonderful restaurant we owners and staff who are just wonderful, genuine and engaging and made the evening very special. The atmosphere is truly authentic and the food way beyond excellent. Beautifully presented by people who want Portray their food and culture. Allowed all the time you need, never hurried. Felt like valued guests. The menu is wide catering for all needs and the prices for the quality and service very reasonable. We will definitely return.

Not very nice experience the waiter in black long sleeve is rude, he didn’t explain the menu set that the price list is is £33 per person instead of paying 1 order we paid £200. Next time there should be specific price stipulated per person price and the rude waiter didn’t even say that we order so much he just take and take the order. Definately not recommende because of the attitude and rudenss of the Thai waiter in black shirt. Your waiter let you down by being rude

I usually have the Pad King when I have food from Art of Siam, and it is always delicious.

Very lovely experience. Service was quick, and the food was presented beautifully on the plates. I ordered the Sea Bass with Ginger. Highly recommend! Fish was fresh and very tender - moist and fleshy. Their list of cocktails consist of a mix of alcohol, and alcohol-free options. Very reasonably priced compared to other restaurants and bars too. One thing to bear in mind is that they don’t have a dedicated parking area. So you’ll have to find either a side street to park on, or there is a parking lot not far away. Parking is free on Sundays all day, so could be good to take advantage of that The restaurant is decorated beautifully too; traditional decor and atmosphere

Really poor ordered a duck salad and went to collect just got messed about they didn’t know the prices or if they could Make the dish absolutely terrible will not be going there again what a waste of time

Just had a takeaway and I am flabbergasted at home bad it is. Watery curries with nothing but dry meat. The massaman had 5 small cubes of beef and as many potatoes..... appalled at how bad it was. Rice missed off the order! Prawn crackers, when has that been a thing with Thai food. Pad Thai was Pad Terrible, almost £14 for soggy noodles with little or no flavour. Please please avoid this place if you like Thai food!

One of the best Thai meals Ive ever eaten. All the food was amazing fresh and tasty. Salt and Pepper Squid was amazing and the Tom Yum soup. Penang curry was delicious Service was great and fab atmosphere

Lovely restaurant, Very nice food

traditional restaurant but at the same time with a touch of modernity. very efficient and friendly service. the menu is not the usual Thai mixed Chinese, but a genuine Thai menu. we opted for the "B" menu. the portions are generous and would have been enough for three people. If we return to this area we will definitely return to this restaurant.

Beautiful restaurant in Newcastle and the lyme tucked away in a corner. The atmosphere is great service is very slow, but it could be just because we went on a Saturday without a reservation and they still accommodated us and they were quite busy. Food had great flavours were amazing. We tried Tom Yan soup with prawns and pork ribs for starters. For the main we tried green Thai curry with prawns with egg fried rice and jasmine rice and for desert we tried the sticky mango rice pudding! We had a great experience overall. Sticky rice in the dessert could be a bit more softer to make it a more enjoyable experience. I will definitely visit again. 😀 The hardest bit is to park quite far and walk in the weather UK blesses us with.

Very disappointed. Rather depressing restaurant with dirty toilets. Size of main courses miniscule and also tasteless. We were that hungry, we ordered takeaway pizza when we got home. Service good, but off-putting when six or so waiting staff are all stood together staring at you waiting for you to move. Very expensive for what it is.

The first time I went over Christmas I was served really quickly. Starters were out within 10 minutes. This last time I went and we waited 50 minutes for starters. Another couple of ladies came in 30 minutes after us and got their starters first. Same with the mains they got theirs first. We were so hungryyyy. We had considered making a complaint but once we ate our food we were happy and I would of felt guilty as the staff are all so lovely. We will still return as everyone is human and can make mistakes. The food is good and the staff are friendly. I would still recommend this place 🥰

We booked to have dinner at 6pm for six people.When we arrived there,we were told we're allowed to eat for two hours(6-8pm).I was surprised.It was not mentioned in their website.When I complained about that,they said it was mentioned in the email they sent to me.When I checked this email once I got back home,this policy was not mentioned in my email as well.I am unhappy with this insincerity.I was the host of dinner on that day for my colleagues.I was quite stressful we would not finish our dinner within limited time. Please declare your policy in your website.

Food tastes AMAZING but not given item on order and over phone told we did have the item (we didn’t) and that we could come and watch the CCTV of them putting the item in our bag. Highly unhelpful, rude and never got a solution- they just kept saying they put the item in the bag, when they just perhaps just made a mistake and could have simply apologised.

Third meal tonight, still just as good as the first over a year ago, always happy with the flavours, the portions and the service. Would recommend.

Genuinely the best restaurant in Newcastle. It is consistently good and the food is extremely delicious. Amazing veggie and vegan options. It is truly good quality, authentic Thai food. Great value for money. The ambience is lovely, and the restaurant is extremely clean. I always come here whenever I’m in Newcastle, and I always leave very satisfied and wanting to return. This restaurant deserves to win “best restaurant of Newcastle under Lyme award”.

I very rarely writes reviews, unless I really have something worth saying that might be helpful to others, but I want to take this time too say a massive thank you to all of the staff as when I visited on Thursday December 14, 2023, I was on my own and do not mention to the members of staff that I wasn’t feeling great because that particular date would have been my late husband’s 61st birthday. It is the very first time I have felt brave enough to make some kind commemoration since he passed away in early 2017 and I have no friends or family within the area. I want to say to the people reading this with you that I am so grateful that I made the decision to visit this restaurant as I’ve been past many times, but I’ve never been brave enough to go in because obviously I don’t visit restaurants because I’m on my own and I find it very intimidating. The staff were so welcoming to me and the level of hospitality was outstanding. My starter was the prawn & chicken sesame seed toast. As the pictures show, the portion was perfect for me, although I must confess I had eaten a piece of toast before I took the picture, so I apologise to the restaurant, I must give context and say there are actually 4 pieces of sesame seed toast and not 3. 😉 I then followed that up with the mixed seafood stirfry with soft noodles. As you can see from the picture, this time I remembered to take the photo before I started to eat it, lol! 😅 For me, the portion sizes were perfect and I must recommend the Prosecco as I can be a bit fussy with Prosecco but this was spot on. Also extremely fair prices as well as my whole meal including my tip came to about £38 which is very reasonable given the outstanding levels of hospitality, quality and quantity of my meal, and to be honest would happily pay more if the prices were raised. 🤗😎 On the basis of being a solo diner, I would like to mention that a gentleman came in and sat in the table just in front of me, just as I was finishing my meal and was also treated with exceptionally high levels of hospitality, and that made me feel very safe and confident that as a solo traveller/diner, I would be very happy to come back to the art of Siam restaurant as a regular customer, and I hope that this review encourages other people both solo and non-solo diners to pay a visit to this restaurant, as I cannot praise them highly enough, and I look forward to visiting them again very soon. 🤗🤗🤗

Used to be such a lovely place to visit with great staff who was always smiling and welcoming, new owners are not what Thai culture is all about ! Used to be a romantic place with an amazing atmosphere, now it’s awful the staff don’t smile they just aren’t bothered about you tbh and they are quite rude, the food isn’t worth the money you pay pretty disgusting and very expensive, very slow service but extremely fast getting your bill ! I’ve been coming for over 15 years and won’t be going back to this fake Thai restaurant again

We had a lovely meal. The only real problem was that the restaurant was quite cold. But we didn't let it spoil our afternoon.

Popped in on a whim for dinner on a Sunday evening after 8pm. They were still open, the reviews looked great, but some customer pictures don’t look appetising. However we were pleasantly surprised, food was great. Staff were attentive, prices was quite reasonable and overall had a lovely evening and would highly recommend. Downside is that it’s on the high street and parking seems really limited, but it was fine for a Sunday evening as it was free street parking 😊

We ate here on a busy Saturday evening. They were good enough to bring our reservation forward by half an hour, even though they were almost full. The food was delicious and good value. The service was courteous and professional. We would definitely go again.

After visiting Art of Siam with my work colleagues, and having a fantastic experience with brill food, I decided to take my family there to show them how nice it is. I'm sad to say that on this occasion, we were treated completely different. We arrived with 5 minutes to spare stood at the front door with the host walking towards the doors tapping on his wrist in an aggressive tone. Upon entering we WERE NOT welcomed with the same warmth and courtesy as my previous visit. It's obviously we weren't welcome. There was myself and my partner, an 8 year old and an 18 month old. Our 18 month old wasn't too happy so was crying. We did our best to soothe him but he's a baby. The staff were not happy, it was written all over their face. This obviously made us feel unwelcome. It's clear this place aren't accommodating for young families, they couldn't wait to get rid of us. The menu is catered for adults only. As there is no child menu items, I asked if they could make a smaller portion for my 18 month old. I was told no. I was then directed to some soft noodles that was just basically noddles and egg. I asked if we could have that and add some chicken to it. I was told no we don't do that. So we were forced to order an adults portion so our child could eat a proper meal. If you have a young family and want good hospitality, you would be much better off going somewhere else. It's clear Art of Siam don't like children there and we won't be returning.

We were in Newcastle for a meeting and the Art of Siam looked good. Inside it looked wonderful and the food was wonderful to match. Unexpectedly good.

Staff are always amazing- managed fit us in last minute 8:30pm on a Saturday evening we were so lucky to get a booking! Booking always recommended as its popular! Food is always amazing and very fresh! Tried multiple dishes and never been disappointed- also good value for this Standard of food. We had a sharing platter and duck rolls 😍

Me and my partner visited the restaurant yesterday evening. The food was ok but we have both suffered with very bad food poisoning almost instantly after eating our meal. Restaurant has been contacted and they said they would look into it and were very helpful. It just totally ruined what should have been a lovely evening out.

Took pur granddaughter here for a pre holiday treat, its a gorgeous setting with wonderful furniture & decoration.. A varied menu with helpful advice re allergies and explanation of spices etc Great service with very polite staff who are welcoming and friendly. Had been here a couple of times before, but not for a few years due to Covid etc. The venue is nice and spacious, authentically themed and has nice polite, friendly staff. There’s plenty on the menu to choose from, including traditional and speciality dishes. For starters we had the Thai Fishcakes and Mixed Meat Skewers and for the main course Chicken Pad Thai and Yellow Chicken Curry with Egg Fried Rice. Each dish was freshly cooked, well presented and absolutely delicious. It’s the best Thai food i’ve had in ages and we without a doubt will be returning!

Recommend when in the area! Lovely Thai restaurant with lovely interiors, welcoming staff and wonderful Thai cuisine. Do suggest booking for the weekend otherwise walk-in is good during the week when it's quieter. Definitely will be back!

Food-fine, cost- OK but got the shock of my life when there is NO baby changing facilities. NOT family friendly. Had to change my poor baby girl on the floor!!!!! Outrageous that in the day and age this is acceptable. I appreciate it isn't a legal requirement but absolutely shocking. I will never return and never recommend.

Lovely atmosphere and very good service. We came here with a friend from The Netherlands and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it! I can't personally review the food itself, as I just had a drink, but everyone at the table cleaned their plates and said how good it was! The decor is so beautiful, I couldn't stop looking at everything and admiring it! The tables too!

Beautiful authentic Thai restaurant with a very tasty traditional menu. All our food was really nicely presented and reminded me of when I lived in Thailand, thank you. Staff were so friendly and helpful as you would expect from a proper Thai restaurant, why can't British restaurant staff be like that ?

An absolutely lovely Thai restaurant. Food lovely and service amazing and quick. Went with four friends for a birthday night and we weren't disappointed. Went for set meal C and they allowed us to change one of the dishes for a meal off menu D so no problems there. It is not the cheapest of places but like everything of late the prices have gone up. But you get quantity in both the food and the drink so why put a price on a great night out.

Really authentic food, atmosphere a lot better than most Thai we've been to in the Midlands (exception maybe Thai Elephant Leamington). Three course meals for 4 and drinks plus gratuities for c£35 per head was exceptional value. Disagree other comments about portion size. Fish cakes probably the only disappointment. My beef Massaman was excellent. Service became very slow as the restaurant filled up (Saturday night so really busy), and could be a little more personable. Hence 4/5. Definitely will go again and would recommend.
