The food was great and well worth a visit and Jane was lovely and inviting. While you are down there pop in for a visit and try the food.

I visited this lovely cafe for a very pleasant tea and coffee after a day trip to West Wittering beach. Unfortunately I manage to leave a top on the back of by my chair and only noticed on returning home from my day out. I contacted a lovely lady at calamity’s who not only located it, but also agreed to post the item back to me. I tried to pay postage etc but she refused to take any payment. All I can say what a wonderful attitude and level service and I wish Calamity’s every success for the future. I will visit again next time I am in the area. Thank you.

We went in today late morning and cannot fault the wonderful welcome we received. Really caring lady who brought books for the child we had with us whilst we waited for our food. Really tasty sausage and bacon sandwiches. Nothing was too much trouble and all reasonably priced.

Sadly an unwelcome and slow experience. Didn’t get a chance to eat anything as it was too slow. One person doing everything, think the lady needs help in the kitchen. Wish we had looked at other experiences before entering. The lady is probably under so much pressure to deliver that she isn’t in the mood for being very convivial. Shame, it seems a nice tea shop that could do so much better.

Rude staff, dirty floors and tea that tasted like dish water we went there as it was close to west wittering beach and seemed like a nice place when googled. My daughter was told off for playing with her hair in the shop too. I do not recommend this cafe unless the staff adjust their customer service and get the cafe cleaned up.

We absolutely loved this place. Food and drinks were amazing but we also felt at home. Now if you want quick service like you do in a chain cafe, this is not the place for you. This is a small independent beautiful shop with home made food...which takes time. The lady running this shop was sooooo busy but always welcoming if you gave her the chance to be. The amount of people that came in and left because they were not served within 30 seconds astounded us. I had lost my mum a few days previously and when I mentioned this the lady couldn't have been any more caring and compassionate. Not like the previous reviewers have mentioned, which leads me to feel that perhaps they were having a bad day and forgot that others are human too. We will definitely be going back when we are over that way.

I popped in for coffee and cake after getting soaked in the rain. The owner was incredibly unfriendly and dismissive. I ordered a cappuccino and a slice of victoria sponge cake. I didn't like the cappuccino but am happy to admit I'm fussy when it comes to my coffee, the cake was lovely and a really large slice. On paying she just pointed to a card machine at the back of the cafe and didn't reply when I said goodbye. I actually thought she hadn't heard me so said it again because I didn't want her to think I was being rude. She still didn't reply but then proceeded to welcome 2 regular customers like old friends. Which made me feel even more annoyed. It's a shame as I have just moved into the area and was looking for a regular coffee haunt and was attracted by the quirky interior. I will definitely be avoiding from now on.

All the food here is homemade and absolutely tastes delicious. A very friendly place and you are made to feel very welcome by the owner. A collection of many unusual teapots surround the shelves on the walls - makes the place feel very cosy. You can also buy jars of homemade jams - I have tasted the strawberry jam and it is absolutely delicious. Will definitely be returning

Jane makes all her own cakes. I don't have much of a sweet tooth and I don't like sugary treats but Jane's cakes are irresistable: light, fluffy and just the right balance of ingredients. She's also very welcoming and funny, particularly with children.

Came in for a spot of lunch in my lunch hour when working in the witterings for the day. I'm a big food lover but had to leave my plate almost untouched. I was a bit unsure as the counter top was very cluttered and dirty, but thought I'd give it a chance!I ordered scrambled egg on toast with mushrooms and tomatoes, although I was the only person in the cafe, it took a very long time to come out as the owner was looking after a toddler at the same time.... understandable but a bit annoying to have to wait til the toddler has eaten all her food for yours to be cooked...I'm a paying customer after all... Pretty sure it was all cooked in the microwave as I heard the 'ding' and the bread was incredibly soggy from the mushrooms and tomatoes. The owner was friendly enough and asked me about my day but jokingly slapped me on the wrist when I hadn't finished my food- like it was my fault for not finishing it. For a simple meal it was really really not good. It's very unlike me not to finish food! Shame as brilliant location!

I think the words customer service and food presentation (cakes looked sweaty) are not familiar in this cafe. We should have known better as there were only 2 other people in the cafe over a Bank Holiday and the rest of the places to east in East Wittering were full. Left before the Calamity got worse.

We (myself, my partner, my mother in law and my grandson (9)) we’re staying at a holiday park nearby and came several times during our stay. On difference occasions we had breakfast, cakes and drinks - all were very tasty and the breakfast was made fresh while we waited and was delivered with a smile and very friendly chat each time we visited. We would definitely recommend it.

My family and I went into the cafe and stood there minding my own business. The waitress then stood there and did a massive sigh, then said “brain dead, my children are just the same”. I thought this was incredibly rude thing to say to me, especially as I am a customer! As a young adult I expect a bit of respect and not to be treated as a child! She clearly thought I was in the way. A decent waitress/waiter would be polite and say excuse me. Again this rude, unkind and uncalled for. I walked out, upset, while the others stayed in and waited for about 15 minutes for a simple bacon sandwich! Don’t be fooled by the nice decorations, but be prepared for a long wait and rudeness.

Found this little cafe by chance and what a lovely cafe it is. The food is all cooked to order. We had breakfast on a couple of occasions and it was home from home. The owner Jane is lovely and made us very welcome. The prices are reasonable and her cakes looked lovely but didn’t get a chance to try as we were full each time we went. Will definitely be returning next time we are in the area.

Excellent scones (esp. the cheesy ones) and warm friendly service. Eclectic collection of nic-nacs. The coffee was a little weak - probably due to the tastes of the mainly elderly clientelle.

At last a place where you can get a decent, home cooked meal for a good price. The dishes here are a pleasant change from the usual "everything with chips" cafe. We ordered a child portion of spaghetti bolognese for our little one, a cheese ploughman and a chicken and vegetable pie with veg. The prices are very reasonable and it made a nice change for the family to eat home cooked food whilst staying at a local B&B.

Clamitys is not just your average café/cake shop- colourful and fun window displays, mouth-watering treats and exceptionally helpful staff. All served in a homely kitchen style.Popped in for a drink and a sit down, ended up having one of the many ‘soups of the day’ which was really tasty. (Although I am now regretting I didn’t eat half the cakes in there too).I have allergies and various food intolerances and the lady who runs the café was amazing, friendly and really helpful. She explained she does the cooking and baking, so could tell me what was in everything. Many of her standard dishes already catered for dairy free, nut free gluten free diets etc. Unusually for many eating establishments, they had dairy free butter/spread and also has soya milk for teas/coffees milkshakes etc. Staff were chatty and great fun and we had a most enjoyable lunch in the little café surrounded by the huge collection of teapots. They mentioned they are able (with a bit of notice) to amend dishes that are not already suitable to cater further for those with food allergies/intolerances, which was really lovely to hear as it is so hard to find places to eat. They also make cakes to order and do so whilst catering to lots of intolerance/allergy diets, as well as those out there lucky enough not to be allergic to anything!Well done and thank you Clamity’s - I shall be returning often!

Very warm welcome, matched by excellent all day breakfast ( for both of us). A very relaxed cafe, with superb cakes, and pasteries to go. A pleasure to eat in this friendly, and very clean cafe, with a very good selection. A nice change to the corporate cafes.

Although they’ve faced a few days of closure it doesn’t take away from the brilliance of the food they serve, food was done beautifully and the burgers cooked very well. Generous portion sizes and very very thick and tasty milkshakes I will definitely be returning. Also to note the tables and kitchen are kept quite clean and there was wasn’t much mess on the floor round the crowded tables which is a good sign the place is being looked after well.
