I ordered their nachos and they were on point! Every time I go, the cook with the hat always makes the really good!

Yes, people! Give these guys all of your money! I'd eat their tacos every day if I could. Lots of pinatas and skull decor inside.

Amazing fish tacos. The best I've ever had. It is what they say, an explosion of flavor in your mouth. Choose grilled over fríed fish tacos. So delicious. Melts in your mouth. I just keep wanting to go back for them. WOW. Service is great too. Very friendly, fun atmosphere and clean restaurant.

We just ate here for the first time and OMG, the shrimp taco was delicious & hit the spot! They do not skimp on ingredients, one was absolutely perfect. The fresh pico de gallo & chips were yummy with a choice of hot sauces at the table. Everything tasted so fresh! While all the hot sauces were good, I really liked the spicy. No overpowering vinegar taste, heat & flavor! Yum!! My spouse had the shrimp burrito & I didn’t hear a peep out of him, too busy eating. They also have Mexican Coke, which is so much tastier than American. There is plenty of seating indoors & outside, the decor is gorgeous & the staff wonderful. We will definitely be returning!!

I been coming here for years to be honest I only prefer the crispy asada tacos . That’s about the best thing for me lol with habanero sauce . The prices did get high & did bother me a little. It’s a good place to grab and go. 3 tacos and a horchata came up to 27$ ;/ .

If you don’t like this place, we’re going to have some problems.

Friendly and helpful staff and good food!

Easily one of the worst burritos I’ve ever had. It was loosely wrapped, soggy with crema, the gauc was brownish, and the cabbage was somehow stringy. In our land of incredible burritos, it’s kind of incredible to find one so poorly made.

Very cost effective and delicious

Enchiladas were missing sauce. This is beyond unacceptable. Not one apology. Then they took forever bringing sauce. I will certainly never return, and I'll be sure to discourage my neighbors from patronizing this establishment.

One of my favorite places to dine in. Great service and food. I recommend the nachos with any meat.

If you like sloppy, watery burritos, this is the place. They didn't put any rice in my burrito (IMO a critical component, otherwise it's just a rolled up taco), and they made sure to scoop in extra bean water, so when you bite into it it is all watery. You're supposed to have rice to absorb the juice! +1 star because they grilled the tortilla instead of just steaming it. But otherwise the burrito was poorly constructed and disappointing

Fantastic! Clean and casual dinning, which is sometimes a hard combo to find. All food and sauces are delicious. Innovative menu items and sauces, creative decorations. Loved the colorful festive decorations.

Cashier was a bit rude but the server was very nice. She brought out 3 different salsas and welcomed me. The cashier didn't even offer a beverage and I forgot to order one so I ate my burrito which was (very good btw) dry. I had to get a drink somewhere else!! I wasn't going to ring up a drink separately on a card!!

My girlfriend ordered a mango fresca and they gave her pineapple after she told them she was allergic to pineapple. You can't run a business and not tend to people's health concerns.

I ordered two steak quesadillas with the veggies on the side.. but they gave me the veggies inside, and the meat on the side 🙄🙄 paid around $36 bucks for it.. honestly, it felt pretty expense just for two plain quesadillas 😒 and the veggies were just tomato and onion 🤨

The employees we’re very lazy an couldn’t get my order correctly had me repeat the order 5 times an still couldn’t get it made properly. Told them I was allergic to onion’s an had a plate full on top of the nachos I ordered never going back worst experience the 5 times I’ve been here

You'd be hard pressed to find a restaurant, truck or taqueria that matches the flavor at La Calaca....and I don't think there is a better executed Burrito in the East Bay.

You can't get a better burrito in Oakland unless you go down to International. The carnitas is my favorite but they are all good.

One of my favorite places to eat at I go for the loaded nachos and the shrimp steak burrito.

The burritos were terrible. The carne asada meat tasted like boiled stew meat with no flavor. They used more lettuce than anything else. The chips were stale. The salsa was like orange juice and water with some pepper in it. The guacamole was old and discolored. It obviously was not fresh. I don't know how this place is in business or who's eating here but it was gross. I will not go back.

My favorite - I travel from SF to have their jicama salad and nachos - the absolute best!

Quite good although there was a long slow line and a just a little pricey. Overall a good unless you’re in a hurry and there a line.

Ordered through Doordash, specifically asked for guac on the side as I am allergic to avocado. They put guacamole on my burrito.

This place was fun. Food was very good. As a frequent visitor to Mexico, I found the food very authentic and much like food you would find in Baja - Rosarito, Ensanada, La Paz etc.

Been coming here for years and didn't know my godmother was a regular 😂 finally went with her yesterday and it was even better than I remembered! The owner insisted on giving us jamaica for Xmas - much appreciated 💘

Se ve limpio el lugar y todo pero lamentablemente la comida no es lo que esperaba no tiene nada de sabor los tacos de pescado es solo el pescado le ponen un color rojizo sin nada de sabor y ni sal le echan te echan repollo en vez de cebolla y cilantro la verdad me decepciona deberían de probar la comida antes de venderla y además carísima bueno es lo de menos si lo hicieran bien pero la verdad no lo vale

Hands down the best BAJA FISH TACOS I’ve ever had!!!! Excellent costumer service, shout out to the cashier (Mayra) she’s very attentive and welcoming Food is fresh, Staff are friendly, restaurant is always clean and music is great!!! 10/10 recommend

This place was supposed to have excellent grilled fish tacos. They were not good at all. The salsa here is so-so. Lines were really long. There are much better places to go.

Si buscas una nueva experiencia en comida latina. Este lugar NO LO ES. Muchas veces al entrar a un nuevo lugar buscamos algo diferente que nos llege a sorprender y solo encontramos la comida o menú regular de siempre. El lugar tiene mucho potencial pero la decoración no es la correcta y exagerada y el menú podría sorprenderte si quisieran. Ojalá lo agan para poder regresar.

Nice place. Order a asada burrito. It was a good size. But no flavor what so ever. Salt didn't even help.

OMG!!! The Grilled Pescado Taco Especial was amazing!! All the great marinated flavors on the Fish. The fresh veggies, cabbage, guacamole. Onion...so delicious The Service was excellent they so friendly and helpful. I ordered 2 tacos. But one will be going how because they are very filling . So good!@

Best authentic Mexican food on temescal 💯🤞

My fiancee n I have experienced this delicious eatery for the first time after my acupuncture appointment. We happened to be driving by and we both were hungry n ouches this spot. I got the shrimp taco my eyes couldn't believe how big the shrimp taco was. Not only was the food fabulous customer service was just as great and our waitress was so real she had no filter lol we both laughed as. She entertained us. Highly recommend people who read this post that they should try this place especially experiencing this for the first time.price is reasonable atmosphere/ambiance says a lot.. will we go back heck yes to bring family n friends. THANK YOU

La Calaca Loca is one of the best taquerias in the East Bay. They use very fresh ingredients and traditional cooking and grilling methods to make everything they offer special!

Killer food! You can't really go wrong with La Calaca Loca everything I've ever ordered has been absolutely delicious. I grew up nearby and its 1 of my favorites and 1 of the last more authentic Mexican food restaurants in the neighborhood. Give em a try! You won't be disappointed!

This place is dynamite they have the one of the best place in Berkeley that I can tell you right now the food is delicious I have the shrimp burrito + 2 fish tacos Bellissimo

Best quesadillas in my humble opinion. Jicama and grapefruit salad is amazing. Their kitchen is so clean that my very sensitive celiac friends can eat here too!

I saw La Calaca Loca Taqueria on KQED's Check Please program and drove from San Leandro to Oakland when I had an urge for fish tacos. Oh my, these were the BEST & most substantial fish tacos I've EVER tasted! I got one batter fried & the other grilled...both were excellent! I had to wait quite a few hours b4 I could eat the 2nd one. They were so good I had to go again soon & bought enough to share! Bon Appetit!

Amazing fish tacos! We also loved the burritos (chicken, veggie, and steak). My friend loved the soup. Literally everything we try here is great. We enjoy the decor and prices as well.

I wish it was possible to give 0 stars. I didn't get what I paid for. I literally read each ingredient I wanted in my wet burrito and literally just got fish and cabbage. They didn't do anything to remedy the situation. On top of that, I tipped well before receiving my food. Don't support this establishment.

Grilled mushrooms and onions quesadilla best dish ever. The comforting melted cheese paired with the earthy mushrooms knocks it out of the park. They've made a very festive space brightly decorated. Staff is warm, accommodating. Parking seems to be always available, family friendly spot.

The Shrimp and the Grilled Pescador Tacos Calaco especial were delicious! The ingredients in the Shrimp Taco were so fresh and tasty that it almost didn't need the Shrimp. Cheese Enchilada plate was delicious also and that melted cheese on top was a delightful treat. I will go back again...

I ordered the quesadilla with steak and prawns - $21. It was not that big and there was not a lot of meat. The place was empty. I think I'll pass on this one. 💯✋🏾

This is a great taqueria and restaurant and they are now open on Sundays starting at 11 a.m.! (Nov 2020). The soup is fantastic, the burritos are generous, and the fish tacos are awesome. This is our go-to restaurant in North Oakland for quick, delicious food and fast, friendly service. And the aqua frescas and flan are yummy too!

Yikes. Elotes are made with mayo with no cheese, butter or chili. We scoured the Bay and was sadly disappointed.

One of my favorite places to come for nachos! The meat is always juicy and the portions are nice for a decent price. Can get crowded so best to call ahead if possible.

The nachos here are awesome - it’s a huge portion over beans and smothered with sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, Cotija cheese, and jalapeños. You can add meat if you want, but the vegetarian one is plenty filling. Burritos are pretty big so I usually get a quesadilla instead, and still don’t finish the whole portion. The shrimp salad is also a standout.

Fantastic Mexican food, great decor and ambience, and reasonably priced. Personal favorite: crispy vegetarian taco, comes with lots of guacamole. Under $5!

They charged my wife extra for a "smear" of sour cream and guacamole. Their food is mediocre and way too pricey for the service. We didn't even get chips with our meal: We've had better!

There are decent burritos and nachos in numerous places about town, but this isn't decent, it's exceptional. With portions that cause you to order to share, awesome service and decor celebrating what awaits us all!
